I don't post in here very often, but I've been dealing with a lot of shit lately. Over about the last year (give or take a month or two), I've dealt with all kinds of tragedy regarding my family. First, in August of last year, my old man passed away suddenly from a heart attack in his sleep, and I hadn't talked to him for months before that, so that left all kinds of regret. Then, not long after that, I hear from my mom that a lot of my family had been bad-mouthing me behind my back for a while, because they felt that I wasn't doing anything with my life, which was the entire reason I moved in with my fiancee! We wanted to get things moving to start our life together!
Anyway, back in June, my fiancee and I went back to Colorado to help my mom out a little bit, since she wasn't in the greatest of health, which I didn't have a problem with helping out. My stepfather, though, made it hell. He has always been somewhat aggressive and abusive, but he was so much worse during that month we were there! So much so that we left my parents' place 2 days early to stay in a hotel until we had to leave for the airport, because we were scared that he might get physical, and we didn't feel safe. He tried to turn me into the bad guy by saying that I had abandoned my mom, and that I was effectively cut off with what little financial help I was getting from them. So, I was basically disowned by my family, at least it felt like it. He's been kinda civil towards me recently, but I'm still pretty leery of him.
Speaking of contact with him, the only reason I have been in contact with him recently is because my mom is gravely ill. She hasn't been in great health for months, but she's gone severely downhill in the last month or so. So much so, that she's only been given "weeks" to live by doctors, so I have to go back on Sunday for a couple weeks to basically be there for her, but I can't stay long, due to my own medical issues and bureaucratic bullshit to deal with.
Basically, if not for the family I've gained through my fiancee, as well as some of my close friends both irl and online, I would have completely lost my mind a long time ago, but I'm about to lose my mom just barely a year after my old man, and it's taking a toll on me...
Sorry if this is long, but I think this has been building up for a long time, and I just needed to get it out...

So, recently, my fiancee started doing streams on Picarto of some games (specifically Digimon World 3 and South Park: the Stick of Truth), and I was wondering if there would be any interest if I were to begin streaming, as well. I have Final Fantasy VI and IX on Steam as of now, along with a few PSX games I could stream. Just kinda wanting to gauge interest and see if it's worth getting the streaming software in the first place.

I was debating whether or not to post this, but I suppose there's no harm in it. At about 5:30 pm EDT, I got a call from my mom saying she had news I wasn't gonna like. When she told me, I nearly dropped my phone. Apparently, sometime in the morning of August 21, my old man (aka birth father) was found dead in his apartment. I was in complete shock. I knew he wasn't in the greatest of health, but I never imagined it was that bad. If my fiancee hadn't been there when mom told me, I think I might have completely broke down. I hadn't really talked to my old man in months, and we weren't really very close anymore. I kinda regret that now. He wasn't that great of a father to be honest, but he was my father nonetheless. Admittedly, though, I was proud of his military service, having served over 20 years in 3 of the US Armed Services (Air Force, Marines, and Army National Guard), having earned the rank of Staff Sergeant in all three.

He and my mom split up when I was 2, (I'm 30, now) but he did get occasional visits with me. He kinda disappeared from my life for about 5 years when I was 18, but I decided it was worth it to bury the hatchet with him over that, since it didn't feel right to keep a grudge with him. We never really could get as close as we were when I was a kid, and I also kinda regret that. In the 7ish years since I found him again, despite how much he tried, I never told him I loved him. Now I never can...

Now, since I was his only kid, and he never remarried, his final affairs are left to me. I'm honestly kinda overwhelmed, as I don't know what all needs done, especially where I'm currently out of state. Thankfully, I've already been in contact with the county coroner to get some information, and I'll likely have help from the Department of Veterans' Affairs, too. I want him to have a proper military sendoff. Looking back, I'm actually going to miss his dry and repetitive sense of humor.

At this point, all I can really say is Semper Fi, old man. Maybe I'll see you on the other side someday...

In memory of SSgt Brian McClary (December 31, 1956 - August 20, 2019)

For those who don't know, I've been in New Jersey since early November with the love of my life. Due to personal reasons and safety issues caused me to stick around until now. Next Wednesday (February 6th), I'll be taking a train back to Colorado on a 50 hour trip including a 4 hour layover in Chicago. Here's the twist, though: I'm not gonna be heading back alone! My beloved is coming back with me! She's gonna stick around until after my birthday on St Patrick's Day, meaning she'll get a good idea how my life generally goes. I'm really loving getting to spend so much time with her. It feels more and more like we're already living together, even though we're planning on doing just that by the end of the year. Anyway, I'm absolutely stoked for more reasons than one. Mostly because of getting to spend more time with her, but also because I've never been on a train before. This is gonna be so awesome! ^^

No real reason to post this, I guess, other than to get it off my chest... I've been really depressed, lately, though I don't think it's related to my medical depression. No, more than anything, I've been lonely as hell for about the last 6 months or so. I guess I just really need the company of a good woman, which is difficult to find when your mobility is limited. Damn neuropathy... Anyway, I guess feel free to respond to this, if you want. I get lonely pretty easily, so I generally welcome any sort of conversation.

As an addition, I didn't realize it's been over 2 years since my last journal! I am so socially awkward.

Well, as of tomorrow, I'll be 27 years old... Why do I feel so damn old? Maybe it's the diabetes or the fact that I'm unemployed and constantly bored... Anyway, at least I'm not 6 feet under, so that's always a plus. ^^;

For those that don't know, Glen Frey, one of the founding members of the legendary band The Eagles, has passed away at 67. As a lifelong fan of The Eagles, I've always loved Frey's guitar work and songwriting. My vocal style is even slightly inspired by them,and this news kinda hit me like a truck. RIP Glen. You'll never be forgotten.

Hey, y'all. For those of you that actually play Yu-Gi-Oh!, I've been in the process of building a modern Fortune Lady deck for the current format, and it's been in the works for months. I'm finally within 6 cards of finishing the deck, now that the most expensive ones are out of the way. If anyone has any of the listed cards, let me know, or pass the word on to someone who might. Also, if you couldn't tell by the journal title, my birthday happens to fall on that fabled Irish holiday, St. Patrick's Day. With any luck, I'd love to go have some brews with my college friends, but I don't necessarily see that happening. I already got one present, though, which was a pair of tickets to a WWE live event this past Sunday, which was AWESOME!!! And no, that was not a reference to The Miz, though he was at the event (killer match with Titus O'Neil). Hell, the first match, alone, was worth the trip: John Cena, Sheamus, and Ryback vs The Shield!

Sorry. I don't know how many of my few watchers are wrestling fans, but I just had so much fun at that live event. ^_^ Anyway, another year older... I just hope it's not another year wasted.
