The simple explanation for this is that Rorick has been my online persona and username elsewhere for years, and I want to reflect that here. Hutchyy has graciously agreed to make Kitty's latest vision come to life, and three lucky winners will have the chance to be included in an image with her. You heard right, three slots are up for bidding, starting tomorrow at 12pm MST (2pm EST) and ending at 1pm MST (3pm EST). It will be a ladder auction, starting out as a cell shaded image and, as bids get higher, topping out at Hutchyy's highest quality work, a full detail piece.

I try to use logic and reason and learn. I'm not always the smartest cookie, I'll admit, but I try. If I could do nothing but get paid to learn, I'd die a happy man, and consequently, I want to be a scientist. :3

What do you dislike about yourself?
I have no motivation to lose weight. It's a curse. I want to lose weight, I honestly do, but I don't like diets, and the only form of exercise I truly enjoy is weightlifting, and I don't have the money for the equipment I like, nor a gym membership.

What did your friends notice about you when they first met you?
My brain. Most of my friends think I'm a quiet, nerdy brainiac. And then they find the loud, outgoing smart-ass that I really am once I warm up to them.

What is your belief/religion if you believe in anything at all?
Roman Catholic born a raised. Despite the seeming incompatibility between a logical man and a religious one, I've so far figured out how to keep a healthy balance between the two.

Occasionally, but only in small amounts, and only with people I trust.

I do not. It's not a habit I can logically or financially support for myself.

I fear man made heights. A cliff, no problem. A mountain, ha. A six foot ladder? Get the fuck away from me!

My big one right now, in the short term, is to get through my doctorates in microbiology. In the long term, I want to publish a novel and start a research institute dedicated to teaching STEM subjects starting in Pre-K and going all the way through post-graduate studies.

Considering I've never had a girlfriend, let alone an ex, that's a resounding now.

Who's your best buddy?
No one. I'm a bit of an introvert, even around my friends and people I'm comfortable with. I have trouble opening up and trusting people enough to consider one person my friend above all others, and I can't emotionally attach myself to anyone to do so as well.

What's your favorite dish?
Pizza. It's the most versatile food I know. It can be eaten, in various forms, for every meal from breakfast through dessert. It can be healthy, it can be the worst thing you've ever put into your body. It's can be a rounded mean in and of itself.

What's your favorite drink?
Tea. Like pizza, it's a drink for every occasion that comes in every form. Need to wake up? Caffenated orange pekoe tea is your friend. Need to cool down? Iced peppermint tea is a lovely option. Trouble falling asleep? Drink some chamomile tea to help soothe you. Want something different? Rhubarb tea is nice. I could go on. :3

What's your favorite color?
Dark, forest greens.

If you had a super power, what would it be?
Depends. A practical one, like one that could be used to fight evil? Telekinesis would likely be my top pick.
A fun one, with no real practical use? The ability to see different time streams and places in time (in the past, not the future). Want to see how ancient Romans actually lived? Check. Want to see what the world would be if Hitler had won the Second World War? Double check.

What's your favorite movie?
Lord of the Rings, King Arthur, Kingdom of Heaven, etc. I'm a sucker for Medieval/Fantasy war movies.

What's your least favorite food?
Cataloupe, Brussels Sprouts, and Cabbage (except when it's in KFC Cole Slaw), all in equal proportions.

What's the last meal you want before you die?
As long as it didn't include any of the top three, I really could care less.

What do you drive and what would you really like to drive?
I drive an '02 Hyundai Accent. It's a bare bones basic car that runs well on the cheap. It's included ammenties include AC and Heat, as well as a tape player. That's it. :p

As for cars I'd like to drive? Classic would be a '60's Mustang. Modern would be a Mustang GT. I'm a Mustang fan.

What is your most disliked bug?
I can't really say I hate any bugs. If I wasn't going into microbiology, I'd probably study entomology. If I had to list one however, mosquitoes.

What pet peeves do you dislike the most?
When people mess with my stuff without permission or a valid reason barring that. I work hard for my things, and I'm not exactly someone who like cheap things either. Touch my stuff, and you can potentially jeopardize what I've worked hard to get and/or maintain. Accidents happen, I understand, but if you have no reason to touch my stuff, keeping your paws off of it helps mitigate the risk of an accident.

What do you dislike in life?
Stupid people. I loathe stupid people. Don't get me wrong, some people legitimately can't understand certain things, but willful ignorance is a terrible state to live in, both for yourself, and for others around you. The human race has constantly built on learning new things, and to see people willing to flaunt the pursuit of knowledge angers me. It angers me more when people forgo the learning, or retention, of basic, commonly available knowledge, such as who wrote the Declaration of Independence, if you're American. I think if you have an education greater than the third grade and you can't answer that, unless you have a condition that prevents or prohibits you from learning or retaining that information, you need to go back to elementary school. :P

I know I don't have a large following, a handful of followers and some foot traffic that looks at the commissions I've bought, but I have a bug that's been crawling in my head for a few days now. It's going to be a bit long-winded, so please bear with me here.

In the art world, and quite prevalent in our furry community, are artists that derive most, if not all, of their income from the commissioning of art. That's not really anything new though, right? It's been like that since art became a formal discipline. However, there's a problem with the furry community at large, and that's adult art. Now, I'm not advocating against viewing or commissioning it, look at my small gallery and I'd become an instant hypocrite. The issue here comes from the fact that we, as a group, seem almost exclusively obsessed with adult art. We commission it night and day, left and right, and we seem to forget the artist at the other end.

There are those artists who, as with one I've had a chat, are becoming disillusioned and dissatisfied with creating just adult art, or primarily doing adult art. Anyone who does any decent amount of commissioning, or talking to the artists, would probably know someone like that. The problem comes from the fact that, especially with those artists I gave example of, they can't limit the amount of adult art they make, or else they risk losing a significant portion of their income. Because they can't draw what they want, they can get burnt out, and most, if not all, of us has seen the consequences of that. The ones that work almost solely on commissions as work can't even take time to work without feeling guilt or frustration, because in their business, time is money, and if they work on personal projects, they take time away from progressing on orders that have been placed.

This is where we, the commissioners, can come in and help. I won't be surprised if this has been brought up before, but I think it's a great idea. The entire concept is known as tip commissioning. Most artists accept tips, and many commissioners grant tips for excellent work, but this takes it a step farther. The entire idea behind this is you tip enough to get a commission slot, even a cheap, basic one will work. Then, when putting in the detail for the commission, give the artist complete, or nearly complete, artistic license. Let them do as they please with the piece, it will be art for them, not you. Sounds a bit crazy, I know. Buy a commission for the artist, from themselves? Here's the thing though, it gives them the ability to work on a piece that they had almost, if not, complete control over the project. It allows artists to stretch their creative "wings" and allows them to draw what they want. For an artist that derives significant income from commissions, it allows them to get paid to work on an image that they get to create; they aren't losing money to make personal art now.

Now, this doesn't have to be for everything you commission from an artist, but I say throw it in every once and a while. It will help break up the monotony that we commissioners can demand from those who we buy art from. That is all.

What made you choose the species of your main fursona?
I've always had a love for collies. I guess I just find them beautiful dogs. That's not the only reason though. I also think of the rough collie as my (almost) antithesis; elegant, beautiful, and athletic to my fat, sedentary self. What I would really like to be to put it simply.

Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
Almost the same on the nose, though his fitness habits are much better than my own.

Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
Yes, exactly the same.

Does your fursona look like you at all?
Outside of the fact that he's a bipedal rough collie instead of a human? Yeah. He's thin and fit, I'm fat. No other way to put it.

No. It baffles me to think that someone might have more than one, to be honest. Multiple personalities perhaps?

Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
Not at the moment, though I do have an idea in my head on someone to mate him with. She, however, would not be my real life S.O. because I'm single.

If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
Yeah, he can be a bit of one, when he wants to be. Other times, like myself, he can be rather "prudish", for lack of a better word.

Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart from others?
Not really, to be honest. He's a rough collie, which seems to be a rarer character/fursona than others, but that would be about it.

Do you have much art of your main fursonas?
Not a lot at the moment, but I'm quickly changing that.

Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?
No. Rorick, as a character, has been with me for almost a decade. He wasn't my fursona until I discovered the fandom, and decided to adopt one, but he still has that sentimental value behind him.

If you suit, do you have a suit of your main fursona?
I don't have a suit at the present time, but when, and if, I obtain a fursuit, it will be of Rorick for certain.

Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
While I haven't really roleplayed in years, he was my main character when I did. I've recently started becoming active again, and am, and will continue, to roleplay as him.

Do you consider your main fursona to be a part of you in any way?
How so? In the "I want to be him" kind of way? It would be interesting to become Rorick, and a chance I'd likely take, given the choice and ability.
In the "he's has a special place in my heart/history" way? Yes. As said, he's been a distinct character of mine for near on ten years now. He's had many forms, and different personalities to go with them, in those years, but the core idea of him, mostly as a representation of what I want to be, has always stayed the same.

I can't really remember what I was looking for, but I stumbled across some blacktegan images and I was hooked from then on.

I have no idea. I've never really thought of the possibilities.

I have too many fetishes I love, so I'm going to list two: Squirting and brunettes. Hot.

None. I don't get out much and I've never been to a con. My sister might be furry, but she hasn't figured it all out yet.

Depends on a few things. 1. What is astronomical amount? $30, $80, $100 per com? Different people have different limits, esp. depending on the quality. 2. Is it my job, or a hobby? If it's my job, I'd likely charge higher amounts because it's what I'd be living off of, and you can't blame me for wanting food and a house. If it's for a hobby, not likely then. I'm doing it for fun, just the fact of doing it would be enough for me, money on top of that is just a bonus.

7. What is your favorite pairing? M/F, F/F, or M/M
That's difficult, as I love all three in the right settings. If I had to choose though, it'd be F/F. Lesbians are awesome.

8. If someone your watching draws something you dont agree with, do you unwatch her/him?
If it's just a here or there occurrence, no. I can overlook that and it's not that big a deal. If it's the bulk of their latest submissions, I might as it seems that it's become a general trend with them.

9. If you became friends with your favorite artist, would you expect free art?
It'd be nice, but no. This is especially true if that's how they made most of their income. You wouldn't walk into a store and ask the manager, who I'll add is your friend, for a free x-box, why should I ask my friend for free art?

10. What would you change about the fandom?
I'd make it less sex oriented. Don't get me wrong, I love the sex, but it's kinda become our general image to the public, and might scare prospective members away before they get to fully understand what we're about.

PC. Cheaper, more customizable, more versatile. If I wanted to pay for a name, I'd have bought stock in the company.
