Literally.

The news is saying that Anchorage had it so bad with winds in the upper crust high society end of town getting winds to 130mph, but we had it easy out in the valley. After gusts of 130 to 140 miles an hour here, we spent 4 days without power. I have never been so grateful for power in my life as when they turned it back on this afternoon. I am planning a battery backup and off the grid system already, and plan to be installing it somewhere around here just as soon as I can afford 20 to 30 deep cycle car batteries and the generator to charge them, an inverter to plug into our power grid in the house and all that. I am still behind a chainsaw in the afternoons cleaning the trees down in our yard (there were over 20) of which 6 had widowmakered up in the stand of birch beside them and I had to get in there and drop a bunch of them all at once... which while exciting, in a get your adrenaline racing, kind of way, it no fun. I still have at least 3 more days of chainsaw work, but I have to go buy a second chain and a sharpening file tomorrow before I can do any more.

Anywho... I am back, we are safe, if a little frazzled, and I will be getting back to commissions within the week.

My company, Parasite Publications, has the rights to a number of paranormal fantasy, science fiction and romance novels that we are looking to put into graphic novel format. We are looking for the best in comic art (Story Boarders, Pencilers, Inkers, Colorists) and we are contracting the artists who get in on it for a percentage of all royalties made from the sale of the comics and then as series arcs are finished the full graphic novelizations of the books.

These are big (150 to 180k word) novels and will probably end up in something like the Elf Quest series as far as volume of work to be done and thus money to be made. These are character driven books as well, which generate hordes of screaming fans with more coming in every day, so this would also be a way to vault your name higher into the rankings of the pros as well. If you are interested in becoming a commissioned artist with Parasite Publications, or you think you have a friend that might cut the mustard, shoot me a note or pass on my name. I am looking to put together a reliable long term team or three of comic artists in the next two or three months.

I am also looking for artists interested in getting book cover contracts, derivative art projects and more. Spread the word as far as you can guys, and I really appreciate it.

Rules:

2. Keep it clean unless that artist likes art of their character otherwise.
3. Don't be a fanboy. Its not about you. It's not about riding someone else's coattail.
4. If it doesn't look good enough, then try again next year. Whole year of extra practice!
5. If they don't say anything on your piece, move on (or if angry, just stop watching them). Don't Dwell. Don't pester.

I read through both, and even though the are a couple years old, they are really well put together, and they have a ton of really good points. I think everyone should go give them a look and see for yourself. I am going to be using some of them in the setting of my rules set myself.

If I open a 100 Slot Iron Artist Challenge at $5 per character in a speed sketch format, how many would be interested/how many pictures would you get? Testing the waters here, don't want to open an Iron Artist if there is no real interest in the thing.

Having to finish the fence and build a gate in a hurry today as we had to separate one of our momma ducks from the babies as she was trying to kill one of them. Now, I am required to finish building the fence TODAY. Dogs and cats in the area and only one momma duck to cover the ass of some 17 ducklings.

My move to Washington is planned to depart from Alaska International in mid October, I will have a final date later, and it will be posted as I will like as not be down from the arts for about a week. Hope that it irons itself out faster than that, but you never know.

Also, as I am making my funding for this with commissions, check out my main page for the info. I have a number of pics linked, and need to upload some more so that I can finish fleshing out the links so you can see what I do. At this point I only have one up with full shading, and I don't have any of my clean sketches that I can find for some damn reason, but I will try to rectify that in the near future.

Other than that, I am here, I am drawing and I am always willing to draw your picture for a few bucks. Check the pricing and shoot me a note folks!
