Streaming Input
Posted 8 years agoHowdy Folks!
I've been starting to stream more regularly now, I have been finding that it has helped boost my productivity & I always enjoy when anyone is able to drop in & provide feedback & interact. But onto what I was wanting to ask:
Which platform do folks feel is a better outlet?
Twitch or Picarto
I've been tinkering with both and they have plenty of usefulness.
Twitch is nice for having additional streamlabs addons for making fun interactive animations when people follow/donate/subscribe and the like... Twitch also records every stream which can be nice for folks to come back to and watch if they weren't able to see things live & bounce around scrubbing as they want to (Picarto has this as a premium service with a subscription cost associated with it). It has plenty of customization for streaming all at no charge. One downside is... no adult natured material is able to be streamed, it is grounds for being banned.
Picarto has a nice options even for no subscription fees. But for their monthly cost there is the nice option to stream with multiple creative folk... but all it takes is for one in your group to have a premium account to do this... They do not have any neat interactive features like streamlabs offers Twitch users... or I have yet to find out about some of this... I'm still a n00b when it comes to this admittedly.
I am also debating on switching things up... for non-adult work... streaming via Twitch... but anything adult oriented use Picarto... Right now I haven't felt that the benefits of subscribing to Picarto are worth the monthly cost to be a premium member yet... But any other artists I would greatly appreciate thoughts/suggestions.
Thank you all for your time.
Sincerely,
Dook

2017 So Far... So Good...
Posted 8 years agoHowdy folks!
Haven't made a journal in a while but figured I should remedy this. So far 2017 has been rather interesting to say the least... plenty of political turmoil since Jan. 20. (And that's about as much as I feel like expressing about it :P)
Ralkor & i made a decision to cut down on some of the convention goings this year so we didn't make FC or TFF this year.. we did attend Anthro New England, as it is local to us. But sadly schedules aren't meshing up to make BLFC.
In lieu of convention going in April we visited Japan for roughly 10 days... and it was quite the amazing trip... the sakura blossoms were a little late in blooming and we still managed to see many of the gardens and countryside covered in the white/soft pink ephemeral flowers. We spent 6 days in Tokyo, visiting many of the major inner districts... staying in Shinjuku, but seeing Shibuya, Akihabara, etc. We did manage to see the Tokyo Tower as well as the Skytree Building & did plenty of walking seeing temples such as the Meji, Sensoji, & Nezu. Breaking up the trip we spent one evening at a ryokan onsen, in the Hakone region. The Gora Hana Ougi was simply an amazing experience... They had you leave your shoes with them when you arrived & provided attire for your experience, a traditional yukata & sleep ware. In every room there was a nice balcony with a wonderful view of the countryside with a private bath on the terrace. There were also public baths separated for both men & women which we did indulge in as well, but having the private one to ourselves was really nice. At one point we had a little spider visit us; Ralkor was able to peacefully remove the guy into the wild. They served wonderful food, much of it locally grown in the area with an amazing multi course dinner... the following morning the breakfast was also similarly amazing. The rest of the time was spent split between our days spent in Kyoto, since everything closed at around 5/6pm & our evenings in Osaka since there was still quite the night life and wonderful food opportunities to be had. We indulged in a pachinko/slots parlor just for the experience as well. Kyoto is breathtakingly beautiful we saw the Fushumi Inari (Fox/Torii Gates) Temple, Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavillion), Ginkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-Dera, as well as the shogunate castle Nijo-jo Castle. We would certainly love to go back again.
Since getting back I've been getting back into the habit of streaming art more regularly... I have been finding that has helped keep me motivated to work on commission work as well as fun doing 1-hr warmup sketches & offering 1-hr warmup sketches to folks interested before getting onto commission work.
I'll be dealing at Anthrocon 2017 here in July and can't wait to see folks there!

Catching Up
Posted 9 years agoThings have been rather hectic this last half of the year... 2016 has really been tumultuous to say the least. It had felt like the bad news would not stop coming after the end of the summer, filled with a very deep loss and then after the election got news from my family about a cancer diagnosis hitting very close to home.
On the other hand things have been busy with conventions with Furpocalypse during Halloween, followed by Midwest Furfest.
Both of those conventions were a blast & Ralkor & i had a wonderful time, always great to see familiar faces and meet new ones. But trying to buckle down and focus on projects I have on my plate. Best wishes to all and Happy Holidays!

Where To Find Me
Posted 9 years agoIn the wake of everything that has been going on with FA... how outdated the site is in terms of what it offers in social media outreach and connectivity, poor management decisions in staff in the past combined with the recent security issue that has caused the most recent uproar. I've already had my faith lost in this site... but I will use it in a somewhat more limited capacity...
I have found other more feature rich galleries that I believe will be a better medium for me to use going forward.
To reiterate: I am NOT leaving FA... but I won't be making regular postings to it... maintaining several gallery sites is time consuming enough as it is... I wish FA the best, but if it doesn't improve this site is going to die a slow drawn out death... and that is a sad sight to see...
Good luck FA... maybe you'll eventually be the shining pillar upon what you once were... until then... toodles.

Life Update
Posted 9 years agoSo far things have been definitely improving and things are looking more positive and uplifting. I've had some surprising turn of events from people I didn't expect to have any communication with and went better than I would have imagined... so definitely helps with the positive outlook I've been trying to garner and keep moving forward with. My husband
Ralkor and I are going to be having our honeymoon in the UK area mainly centering around London and Paris... we'll be doing a day trip to Cardiff for the Doctor Who Experience... and making a real good time of it with nearly an entire week oversees. I'm equal parts worried and excited first time as an adult that I'll be using a passport to go overseas. So this will be a trip we won't soon forget!

General Update
Posted 9 years agoTrying to make a better effort of keeping things more up to date... but things have been busy post holidays and back to back cons in January with FC & ANE.
I have had some troubling family news, suffice to say it made me glad that I had already planned to visit family in advance before TFF this past weekend. I had a good time with a big family gathering celebrating my grandmother's birthday and wow what a turn out it was!
Then there was TFF, which was just a social convention for me this time around... I didn't get a chance to check out some panels, but was able to catch up with a lot of good friends which certainly made up for it. I also got to prowl around as
ralkor's handler in his gorgeous suit... he was sporting the Zootopia slitted tiger shorts that he made himself while I was away... and they came out great! Definitely was quit spot on and was a hit at the con.
All in all doing pretty good and now back to the grind and will catch up on a couple past due projects and post journals when I hope to open for commissions and themed work especially prior to AC2016.

Anthro New England 2015
Posted 10 years agoWell 2 cons in a month back to back... this is going to be quite a haul... then there's PAX East the following weekend in March! So cons cons cons... but the last one will be fun in a gaming sense!
In any event I will be in the dealer's den at ANE, Carpet Shark Studio will be open for business all 3 days of the con & it'll be nice that this one is right in our back yard!
Please drop by if you are able and say hi! I haven't figured out any themed badges for the con but will be likely able to play up on the Revolutionary War theme quite well as I enjoy period piece costumes & the patriotic theme.
In any event best wishes and hope to see you at Anthro New England this weekend!

Woozle Birthday, TFF, & TX
Posted 10 years agoOfficially the cat is out of the bag... it is my birthday today. *BLUSH*
Well so far this trip to TX has been well worth its weight in golden sunshine... this has been a much needed break in the winter that Boston has been having. That being said... it has been an awesome visit with time spent with family and good friends.
Today is going to be busy with catching up on some last minute projects to be done by Fri. the more official first day of TFF2015. So far things are going well all in all and now just trying to get a last bit of a feeler for folks who'd like to join in on dinner plans for Saturday February 21st.
The plans so far:
Post dealer's den closing on Saturday we are going to the Magic Time Machine http://www.magictimemachine.com
I will have a vehicle to help 'ferret' folks around if needed so please let me know if you are interested in wanting to join.
This is just trying to get folks to have a fun filled dinner and I can't wait to see folks at the con.
Best wishes & kindest regards,
Dook

TX Birthday Visit 2015
Posted 10 years agoWell today is the day I fly out to TX (16th - 22nd)... and to be frankly honest I'm so thrilled to be escaping the Bostonian winter this year... I REALLY need the vacation from the non stop snow since mid January... It certainly makes me understand why people suffer with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) when winter is so utterly opprssive >.<
But onto bigger and better things... (cause everything is BIGGER in TX of course :P ). So I'll be planning for the first leg of my trip to be focused on spending time with family, especially since my niece will be visiting during the time I'll be around... so that is a big major thing for me to be looking forward to. My grandmother who's been dealing with some health issues as of late is being gracious enough to loan me the use of her vehicle while I'll be in town so that is nice to not have to worry about a rental vehicle while in my home turf.
I'm certainly looking forward to spending time on the 19th with my twin brother
khyle and trying to also work out plans to spend time with good friends at TFF during the 2nd leg at the end of my trip. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing good friends at the con, which will be the rare social convention for me... but Ralkor will be coming down Friday evening so that's something for me to be looking forward to in any event.
If folks are interested I am still planning on trying to get a group together to check out the Magic Time Machine on Saturday Feb. 21st. I'll post about it again closer to the con.
In any event hope you all have a wonderful week and stay warm all you fuzzies out in the New England area & northern parts of the countries (US/Canada/UK etc.)
Best wishes & kindest regards.

TFF2015 Birthday - Magic Time Machine - Saturday, Feb. 21
Posted 11 years agoHere's trying to see who might be interested in trying to meet up at TFF on Saturday the 21st in the evening. I'd like to get a group of folks together to enjoy a fun meal in a fun setting as well as coincidentally celebrate my birthday which will be on the 19th.
The Magic Time Machine is an awesome restaurant especially with things like the Roman Orgy which needs at least 4 people to go in on... ;3 I don't want to spoil the place too much but suffice to say it is a fun place to celebrate such things as birthdays! I should be able to provide a bit of transportation since I will likely have a car & can ferry some people to/from. :3
In any event looking forward to my visit to TX as I'll be visiting with family/friends prior to TFF, but looking forward to the con itself.
Best wishes & kindest regards,
