Bronze artist challenge. A signal boost.
Posted 10 years agoSo
BigLoveAlicia is doing a bronze artist challenge, and still has (to my knowledge) 34 slots left. They are single character sketches for $15.

STREAMS-A-GO
Posted 11 years agoI'll be playing through Five Nights at Freddy's, on my own, in the dark. Come and watch my fear of mannequins scare the crap out of me for your own amusement.

EDIT:
Disregard, due to technical difficulties, I will not be streaming FNaF tonight. I will, however, still be streaming arts.
Live now, will be watching an episode of Supernatural before getting to work. Because dinner.

Finally confirmed
Posted 11 years agoI'll be attending AnthroCon 2014 in Pittsburgh. My leave has been approved, and I'm quite ecstatic over the whole matter.
Arkham Origins, and my thoughts on it.
Posted 12 years agoWARNING: THIS IS A PURELY OPINION-BASED ENTRY. I AM IN NO WAY ASSERTING ANY OF THIS AS FACT.
Warner Bros, whoever did the QA testing here (at least for the PC version) needs to be fired. I sank several hours into reloading areas because an enemy clipped into a wall, and I could no longer hit him, interrogation command was disabled, the faulty "ranking" systems, and other, less severe, annoyances.
The biggest point of my unbridled, yet tranquil, fury, is the rank system. For starters, let me point out the fact that if you are going to employ such a mechanic, either it needs to be completable after the main story ends, or you need to put up a notice that some things just won't be attainable after a certain point. Because some gamers (including, but not limited to, myself) enjoy playing through the story first, and handling the side-quests later. Alternatively, have it set up so that if you complete certain requirements for a specific rank, but haven't gotten up to that one yet, it is at least flagged, and considered complete once you do get there. As an example, I was quite fond of detonating propane tanks against groups of enemies, but because I hadn't gotten to that rank yet, I never got it. And that's a problem once you run out of places that have them by completing the main story.
Secondly: Animation and clipping glitches. I tallied up well over twenty instances where one enemy would clip into a wall, and I couldn't strike or interrogate him as the story intended, which also meant that the fight wasn't considered finished, so no EXP for me. And then there's the looping glide initiation glitch, where for no reason at all, Bats will just start somersaulting mid-air, rising higher and higher. Don't know why it happens, but it's annoying as all hell.
Third point that's earned my ire: Command failures. Be it no interrogate option allowed when the target has clearly surrendered, gadgets not switching even though I've scrolled the mouse in a 360, the notice that I moved up a rank either sowing up late or not at all then convincing me to restart even if I'm sure I did it right (and I often did), the fact is is that it's noticeable, and it's extremely aggravating.
Other things that were still annoying, but could've been worse (somehow):
Enigma: Seriously? At least Arkham City was creative on how to get the trophies. What was done here? Maybe three that were actually mildly challenging, and a lot of go-here-and-do-this copy/pasted across the entire f*cking map. Don't get me wrong, I liked the ones where it was subtle, or you actually had to think and experiment to figure it out. But when it feels like half of them are behind a boarded up wall on one of those little rooftop shacks, I felt more than a little cheated.
Repeat quests: Black Mask was Bane from Arkham city done all over again. Deadshot was the final confrontation with Two-Face with a few tweaks. Enigma was the regular Riddler challenges simplified and multiplied up to goddamn eleven. Anarky: Zsasz. I think I'm done here.
The Level system. Why? Why did Warner Bros think this was a good idea? Why could I not get something as useful and beloved as the disarm and destroy move until I was near the end of the game? Why did I have to get the less-than-stellar proximity detonator for the explosive gel, when I find it much easier to operate without it? To me, it's a useless feature that offers nothing for my predator-based combat if I can't even control when it goes off to take down as many as possible.
So for the above mentioned things: WB, there'd better be a patch out there in the works. Because if not, you probably just pulled a series-killer right there.
Now, then. What did I enjoy about Origins?
The music. To be fair, I'm a music enthusiast, with a particular love of Carol of the Bells, so the fact it got a rendition in game earned some points with me, and otherwise, the game maintained the regular feel I've come to expect of the Dark Knight.
The story. Oh so much. I'm sure there were more than a few inconsistencies in there that I might have missed, but it did work nicely unto itself.
My overall rating of it: 4/10. Why? Because while I enjoyed the story, the music and the challenge quite a bit, the simple fact is, is that it needs some serious patching done. And the fact that a Beta was released that was essentially the same only cements that fact. As I said with the rank system: have it flag actions rather than only make one attainable at a time, and fix it's messaging alert. Get creative on hiding extortion packets. Make it difficult. That's The Riddler's schtick, is it not? And the final point that would need rectifying before the game maker's would have my (and probably many other's) forgiveness: check to make sure scripting is functional. I won't pretend to speak for others, but I know I don't like having to reload a fight several times just because the game didn't register that I was supposed to interrogate some poor schmuck.
And as an afterthought: Why so little time to play as the Joker? I felt so disappointed when it was as short as it was. Granted, I play PC, so the fact that Asylum had an entire CAMPAIGN exclusively on PS3 pissed me off. And here, all we non-PlayStation guys get is one short fight? Anger: rising.
Anyway, that's all for my merry little venture into rage.

Posted 12 years agoGoing to be streaming Oblivion for a few hours. Come watch if you like.

We now return to your regularly scheduled program.
Posted 12 years agoOkay, so I figured out (and by I, I mean that I took a little bit of a wiki walk) that what was causing the problem for Oblivion wasn't actually anything on the disc. It was really some codecs in need of updating. So they got it. Which means Oblivion is back on schedule for tomorrow's stream.
Also worth noting, I gave Fallout 3 a spin prior to the update. It did the same thing.

Amendment to the previous schedule.
Posted 12 years agoDue to technical difficulties, (read: something in the disc I've got is botched) I will not be streaming Oblivion this weekend.
Instead, I'll be streaming Fallout 3. See you there.

Stream of the weekend.
Posted 12 years agoI'll be streaming Oblivion this weekend. Expect Saturday from 1100 central time (1600 UTC).
Stream over.
Posted 12 years agoThat is all. I might do another next weekend. But considering that'll be closest to my 21st, I might be unavailable.
Streamin' again.
Posted 12 years agoStream over.
Posted 12 years agoNo turnout for over three hours of gaming, but I'll try again tomorrow. Liable to be around 1100L (1700 UTC).
Livestreaming Dishonored. Start time: NOW.
Posted 12 years agoStreaming.
Posted 12 years agoThe stream will be going live in approximately two hours. Come watch if you want to see me go on a mass murder spree, or be a ninja in Dishonored.
Stream this weekend.
Posted 12 years agoI'll be livestreaming Dishonored this Saturday, start time will be at approximately 11:00 A.M. (1700 UTC for those not in central time).
This stream will be featuring me running around Dunwall as epic ninja/badass, Corvo Attano. The catch is, I will not be the one determining whether I play hide and sleeper-hold with the local guard, or just walking up and punching them in the face. That decision will go to a random viewer.
Warning in advance:
I am liable to start singing at random, as well as providing character interpretation for Corvo's actions.

So I had another thought.
Posted 12 years agoLivestreaming games. Because why not. And if anyone wants to join, I've no issue, just ask. It'll be weekend events only (job keeps me busy during the week). As for what games I'll stream? I'll announce on Thursdays, as well as my start time.
Got game requests? I'll see what I can do.
Spread the word if you like. Doom, out.

TabyKat's Art raffle
Posted 12 years agoExactly what it says on the tin:
Taby, having reached 1000 watchers, is doing an art raffle for one fully colored character pic.
tabykat is awesome, and the details are here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5154999/

Posted 12 years agoThere's a forum out there called MonsterGirlsUnlimited, which I am a fairly active member on. Currently, I'm considering uploading the short scenes I write into the MG Attacks forum game on here. I figured I would like the opinions of others on whether or not they'd be interested in reading those.
So, thoughts?
P.S. MG Attacks utilizes monster girls from the Monster Girl Encyclopedia, which provides a considerable amount of background information that I wouldn't necessarily include in the stories, which may make it slightly confusing at times. Just a fair warning.
