deletethestars has a hole in her heart. It's not all that weird a condition, surgery for it is a fairly well-trodden path and the benefits are much greater than the risks. Without it, she could die. The problem is, it's still open-heart surgery and it's expensive! Ryn needs at least US$6,000 for the operation. Towards this, her mate, Percy, (cloneclone) has set up a GoFundMe for her and her other mate, Gangster of love, (raptorslut) is running a fundraiser for her. Please consider helping this generous, loving Furry artist and her mates.

wolfgrrlie and her family are having car troubles. They have two cars, one of which is partially functional, the other less so, neither road-worthy. Her family includes two little kids, (2 and 5), so they need their own vehicle to get around, pay bills, buy groceries, visit doctors, not to mention commute to work. The closer-to-road-worthy vehicle needs $400-$600 worth of work to get it fixed properly and certified by the state. The other one will need $500-$600 to get it back on the road. To get the money, Little Wolf Studios is offering a life-sized MLP:FiM plushy commission. It can be one of the Mane Six, any of the other canon characters or your ponysonna. It's expensive, but look what you're getting! Happy Thanksgiving
General | Posted 9 years agoTo my American friends, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. (Canadian Thanksgiving is the same day as your Columbus Day.) May you all have peace and plenty and a respite from politics.
For Americans, this is the de-facto beginning of the Holiday Season as well; it continues tomorrow with Black Friday sales. For the rest of the world, the official start is Sunday, which will be the beginning of Advent, although Orthodox Christians started their pre-Christmas Nativity Fast on the 15th. And of course Christmas decorations went up before Hallowe'en. They seem to go up earlier and earlier every year, don't they? There oughta be a law! I don't mean to be Scrooge, but it's really getting ridiculous!

Easy. Just wind.
General | Posted 9 years agoTo every American who's pissed-off at "those Liberals" for protesting against Donald Trump's victory over them...
To every American who's scared spitless of President Donald Trump and his scary, violent supporters, what they did to progressives like you during the election, especially at his rallies and what they might do now that they've won, all the conciliatory words spat upon, the black dolls hung in effigy, the rainbow flags used a toilet paper...
And especially to non-Americans in other countries, out of range of both sides...
...I recommend to you the words of Yul Brynner from The Magnificent Seven. "Easy. Just Wind. We'll get there."
It's been a long year and y'all are pretty tense. Nobody expected this result and a [] lot of people are in shock, even if it's the result they were hoping for, (and especially if it wasn't.) Just relax. Give each other space to let off some steam. (Better make it a bunch of space!) The real consequences aren't likely to be felt until the Electoral College meets in December, maybe not until the inauguration on January 20th. Try keeping your mouths shut as much as possible 'til Thanksgiving and don't make this windy patch even worse if you can help it. And that goes for both sides! Let's see if we can still be friends by Christmas. Okay?
...BTW, feel free to link this to anybody who you think is getting out of hand.
UPDATE --
Somebody asked, so I thought I'd post this explanation of just what I mean by this. Here's my reply...
Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen had just arrived in town. (Or was it Horst Buchholz? It's been a while since I saw the whole movie. Anyway,) There was a problem in town; a character who never got screen time, "Old Joe" was dead. There were some in town who didn't want to see him buried even on Boot Hill because he was an injun. They greeted the funerary coach with weapons drawn, so the undertaker's driver wouldn't do the job. Brynner offered to drive the coach; McQueen borrowed a scattergun and rode with him.
As they drove up the hill towards the cemetery, somebody cast an epithet at them from a window. McQueen turned towards the voice with his scattergun, but Brynner held him back. "Easy," Brynner said, "just wind. We'll get there."
(To which McQueen replied, "It ain't gettin' there I'm worried about.")
What Brynner's character meant was, don't waste concern over someone who's only yellin'. If that's all they're doing, they're not a problem. Save your ammo for those willing to draw on you. How that applies here is, a [] lot of people are upset over the results of your election; nearly half the country voted against Trump, maybe more, if the latest figures are right, (although the "latest figures" seem to vary by news source.) There's going to be some yelling. As long as it's only yelling, that's not a problem. It seems to me that you'd be best to minimize the problem by first of all not yelling in each others' faces and second just letting each other yell.
As for foreigners like me, well, America is a major trading partner with just about everybody and a signatory to several treaties with plenty of us, not to mention you having quite a few nuclear weapons and one of the biggest armies, navies and air forces in the world. What Trump's America does with all that is our concern and I guess we have a right to voice it. Even so, we need to be polite about it, not just because of possible consequences, but because manners are a good thing. We all need to keep in mind that you're badly split on this election and we shouldn't blame all of you for the actions of some, (whichever side we think blame-worthy.) For now, foreign opinion probably isn't helping your situation, so this might not be the best time to be asking hard questions.especially not of Trump
Anyway, that's what I meant.
...incidentally, I was refering to the original 1960 version of "The Magnificent Seven." I haven't seen the 2016 remake with Denzel Washington.

VOTE, USA! -- UPDATE
General | Posted 9 years agoBy now we should all be aware that the worst has happened. Not only is Donald Trump the next president of the USA, but the Republicans have retained both the House of Congress and the Senate. We all know what this means, too. Over the next four years, all of the progressive changes that Barrack Obama managed to make will be undone, from the Affordable Care Act to LGBT soldiers. Women's rights will be dismantled, all minority rights will be attacked; some of you will be lucky if you're allowed to vote in the 2020 election. And we can be sure that Trump will make good his campaign slogan to Make America White Again.
For America, I offer one hope. Your Electoral College actually meets in December. That will be plenty of time for Trump to do something really embarrassing, or to have some of his own scandals highlighted. The whole reason you have an Electoral College is to provide some sober second thought, isn't it? True, the college almost always elects the candidate they were supposed to, but they have elected the other guy in the past. Donald Trump is a narcissistic, misogynistic, racist, ignorant fool who's run three businesses into the ground. Surely the Electoral College will see that! There must be some way to remind them!
Canada is being hit pretty hard by this. The TSE is down before it even opens. Our dollar has dropped to three Yankee quarters. And it's only going to get worse.
But there is one silver lining to this dark, sulfurous cloud. Trump is going to tear up NAFTA and try to negotiate an even more unfair advantage for America than it already has. And make no mistake, NAFTA has been nothing but bad for Canada. As soon as Brian Mulroney and his cabinet ratified it, Canada, (and mostly Ontario), lost several million dollars in manufacturing as thousands of well-paying jobs were sent to the American south, then Mexico, then Asia; places where a dollar a day is a damn good wage. (Yes, they were eventually replaced... by poor-paying, part-time service sector jobs.) Since then we've lost on steel, potatoes and soft wood lumber, t name a few, while NAFTA rules have allowed American corporations to sue Canadian provinces and cities for restricting their ability to make a profit. (The latest of these was an American oil driller suing Quebec for stopping them from drilling for natural gas under the St Lawrence Seaway.)
My advice to Justin Trudeau is, when Mr Trump tears up NAFTA, don't even discuss replacing it with anything. Prepare for his historic tearing-up with a punitive set of tariffs and trade bans under the slogan MaƮtres Chez Nous!
Personally, I am seriously reconsidering attending AC next year, or any American convention. I'll be watching the news, we'll see how it goes.
You know, I figured with a choice between sending The Establishment, (in the guise of Donald Trump), to shake-up The Establishment, or sending The Establishment, (in the person of Hillary Clinton), to uphold The Establishment, that Americans would just not vote in record numbers. What I seem to be seeing, both in the news and even here on FA, is America desperate to exercise your franchise! I applaud your enthusiasm! Really, I admire you for it.
What I fear is not so much Donald Trump in the White House, however, as another Republican Congress and Senate. Why, you might ask?
- Well, the RNC HATE Donald Trump. He was supposed to be a joke, an ignoramus who'd never held a political post before and knew nothing about it. He wasn't supposed to have stood a remote chance of winning the nomination, never mind the election. Instead, he not only defeated all the serious candidates, he's standing today a step away from the Presidency! The GOP is never going to forget or forgive that.
- But the RNC LOATHES AND DESPISES Hillary Clinton. It's not so much that she's a Democrat, they've dealt with the DNC before. Hillary is a B***H! She's a certified, natural, p***y-having B***H! Those RNC Good Ol' Boys no more want to see a B***H in the Oval Office than they wanted to see that N****R boy there!
If the Republicans take the Congress or the Senate, no matter who sits in the Oval Office on the evening of January 20th. the impeachment proceedings will start on the morning of January 21st. That's my prediction.
And now a word from our otter.

GOOD LUCK, AMERICA!

General | Posted 9 years agoEarlier today I was getting ready to go out because I had some business to take care of. As I finished shaving, I remembered that the batteries in my little radio were getting weak. (I like to take care of such things as they occur to me so that I don't forget them.) Changing the batteries only took a minute. Then I went to turn it on to make sure that the batteries were in properly and that I hadn't taken too long and lost my presets. It occurred to me as I did that I could listen to the radio as I finished getting ready to go out.
As soon as I pushed the on button, the radio loudly and clearly played a man's and a woman's voices singing, "No, no, no! No no!" So I turned it back off again. I can take a hint!

lekitty2 has cancer and Fibrocystic Breast Disease in her left breast. The way she describes it does not sound to me like early stage, (although I'm not a doctor.) She is in a lot of pain most of the time. Surgery is more than she can afford; she found an insurer who'll cover 80% of the cost, but she has to cover the remaining 20%. She can't work either, so she's straining her mother's budget until she's well enough to get somebody to hire her again.lekitty is trying to raise $2,000 towards treatment and food. She is offering handicrafts and she can still draw, but she is reluctantly accepting donations as well. Please consider helping this very sick Furry artist.

tobeabird's landlord is refusing to fix issues with her rental housing. She has to fix them herself or face fines over $3,000. These repairs need to be done before the inspector returns.
To do this, Phoenix needs about $200. She is selling three pin-up commissions for $65 each, ($10 off her usual price); up to three characters, fully coloured with BG, any species, any rating. Please consider helping this hard-done-by Furry artist.

higsby dropped his backpack and his Surface Pro screen shattered. He uses the pad to do commissions, which is a large part of his income. This means he can't do art on the go, he's stuck doing it at home. That limits his productivity enough that he's having a hard time making ends meet. He can't even offer emergency commissions, he already has 29 outstanding commissions.Higsby needs $500 to repair his Surface Pro screen, possibly more if there are other problems.
