Not Meant to Be?
Posted 2 months agoKind of a quick and to the point journal…
A couple of months ago, partner and I broke up and this is now my third breakup I’ve had…My first real and big commitment in a relationship lasted 6 years and then 2020 saw the end of it.
I have been doing a lot of self reflection and to the point where I have brought myself mentally to this…
I don’t think I am someone who deserves to be in a relationship. In my last and recent relationship, I feel I did not take what I learned from my past well enough, hence, why it didn’t work out.
If love decided to knock on my door later in life, I am not sure if I will answer it or not…I really don’t know anymore.
“Are you alone? You feel the same
Isn’t everyone? Nothing matters
Isn’t everyone? We’re all to blame
Are you alone? We all surrender”

NEW 2-PART POETRY PROJECT
Posted 5 years ago- NEW 2-PART POETRY PROJECT -
It has been upwards of 3-4 years since I have done any kind of poetry project...Last one I left unfinished due to loss of inspiration.
This new project is a 2-part journey and all based on the current situation that is effecting our daily lives around the globe. I am taking an approach that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did on their latest Ghosts V-VI albums. Part 1 of my project will be called Unity and will focus on themes on coming out of this on the other hand still as one and picking up the pieces. Part 2 will be named Out/Break and I will be using many analogies to describe grim scenarios based on the virus and how it is effecting us. I also plan to be as non-political and factual in them as I can as I am using my own creative skill sets to describe this in my own way.

- 2018 Updates Journal -
Posted 7 years agoHEY THERE!
Hey there, it's been quite a while since I have done one of these journals. So much has happened since the last time I made one of these, which I believe was at the end of 2016, start of 2017...Here goes!
LIFE, HOUSE, WORK, & UNCERTAINTIES
Life has been busy for me on and off...Mainly a lot of on than off. Since my last update I have been taking on more small responsibilities with my help desk job and got a huge raise at my last annual review. Manager's 2-3 year plan for me is to get me into a Systems Administrator position, but this brings me into an area of uncertainties...I have been doing my help desk job for 12 years and 4-ish months now and I have been thinking of the idea of switching careers in the next 2-3 years...Nothing set in stone right now, just ideas in a grey realm. I have a niche for doing events from ideas to logistics to running and I think, what if I made this into a career? If I do decide to go back to school to pursue a new career path I want to make sure
graduates first, lands his career job, and go from there. Right now I just do not think it would be financially smart as we have enough month-end bills already plus other financial tasks. I will have a much more clear answer on this as time goes on.
Mid-June I got to take my first work trip to our Washington, IL facility. This was a nice change and needed since I have never seen this facility so I got to know it and talk to the people and see their technical obstacles and work with their issues. This is where I love that I have a company card as I got to rent my own car, set myself up in a hotel, & live free for a week. After my work trip I dropped off my rental in Chicago and my doge picked me up and we finished out the weekend in Chicago with some buddies there...This was a nice unwind to a busy work week.
I am still in all sorts of love with my doge and all of our big and small adventures we go on. We still do not know when we are getting married yet, but this is also a future adventure
Lately these last two summers have been sudden, or unscheduled, house projects that came up due to something that happened. Last year was main level painting project and replacing kitchen flooring. This month has been completely remodeling our bathroom from our old boring look to a brighter modern look and we love it. I also got approved for a Home Depot card so next Friday we are getting a brand new AC unit as the current is the original and it's noisy at times and an energy hog. Hoping to also get a new washer/dryer unit too...During our remodel project I got to get sushi with my favorite deer
during his birthday!
Back at the start of 2018 I weight about 200 pounds (possibly over) and have been on calorie counting and Soylent. I have been continuing this trend ever since and when the weather turned to warmer temperatures I have been doing a lot of biking. Currently I am somewhere between 180-182 and my goal weight is 175. Has it been fun and easy doing this? No it hasn't, dieting is never fun and exercise is a chore, but I am also committed to it. There is also a lot of healthier food options I do enjoy too!
EXTRA-CURRICULAR
This year for Furry Migration is my last year running the Help Desk. With my real-world help desk job being taxing I do not have much of a drive for the FM side so this is what I have decided. I still plan to remain a sub-head for Registration and will continue to see how that goes moving forward.
In the MNFure realm and especially with this summer being busy, I have not been able to do much...I had two events lined up and one I cancelled due to rain and the next I had to cancel due to a major snow storm which kept me in the house and it was boring. I am hoping after September with FM and the Fall Picnic to start up some fursuit romps and other fun events.
MISC, RANDOM THOUGHTS, & STUFF
Boss let me have some spare computer parts I was originally going to recycle. Got myself a fun server-grade motherboard with all other components. Once we get some more disposable income I want to get a smaller more portable case and GeForce card and this will be a dedicated VR rig. Currently using my doge's rig and with it being a full ATX tower it's a pain to lug around.
One thing I have noticed during the Spring and Summer is that I usually do not game much...I try to sit in front of my computer on weekends, but then I just get antsy and want to go biking or do something else outside.
I have a few albums on vinyl now and, this goes back to having more disposable income, I want to get a player...Not something flat out expensive and top of the line, but more a "starter" one first to see if I fully like the sound of vinyl. Otherwise, I am still all about digital and sometimes CD if my favorite artists put out some cool collector's shit.
Back when Isle Of Dogs came out I picked up the cool collectible set --> IMAGE HERE
Foxes rule!
CONCLUSION
Thank you for reading!

Posted 8 years agoHEY EVERYONE!
Hey there! So this year I attended TFF in Dallas for the first time with my doge
and I had such a blast. I took 2,272 photos and I plan to post-process and upload them to my Flickr throughout the rest of this month and next month...I hope to have them all uploaded sometime next month, but they will slowly trickle in as the days go on. Also on another note this gallery will combine both photos from my Canon and my iPhone...If you see a photo that looks lower in quality it's probably a phone photo.
My TFF gallery link can be seen in the link below.

For anyone reading this journal and attended TFF and are in any photos, feel free to repost. Please remember to give me credit for any photo(s) posted elsewhere.
Thank you!

- The 2016 Wrap-Up ~ 2017 Preview -
Posted 8 years ago2016 ~ ALMOST DONE
This year is almost coming to an end and much has happened since then. Where to begin...The start of 2016 was previously ended by an awesome NYE party at a friends place up in Lino Lakes. Fast forward to now, hope to spend Christmas Eve with a couple buddies for sushi. Then going up north for Christmas Day, & then wait for the year to end and a new year to begin.
Below I will have everything outlined (not TLDR) as best as I can on what has happened with me!
PERSONAL ~ LOVE + ENGAGEMENT
Let's get some of the biggest news here first!
So as most of you know, plus for those that don't,
and I are engaged! We plan to get married sometime when it's warm again so stay tuned. The both of us have been dating for a long time now and we decided to make it official. The both of us have never been happier and soon we will be married!
PERSONAL ~ WORK LIFE
Back in April I had my 10-year Anniversary and I got a nice little clear statue thing with my name on it along with a nice watch and certificate. Fast-forward to now and it's been about 10,5 years now. Here's to more years so cheers!
MNFurs ~ BUSINESS
In the realm of MNFurs, I hired on
as my co-head, brought him up to speed, & so far he has been a great help and has my back if I need something done. Events overall has been on auto-pilot as it's a job I've always understood and have a passion for.
I will say it again, it feels good to be part of something where you get to help and put your skills to work!
I am also part of a committee and we are planning some fun future opportunities.
MNFurs ~ EVENTS
You know me, I plan and host many events throughout the months. You can browse my 2016 galleries in my Flickr gallery RIGHT HERE. Last event I hosted and got some photos at was community bowling back in November. First event of 2016 was the Winter Carnival Parade.
We did get to try something very new and different and that was being involved in an event with The Science Museum of Minnesota. They let MNFurs be part of their Social Science: Press Play event (information about this event RIGHT HERE). We got to roam the areas of their museum designated for this event in full or partial fursuits and provide entertainment for the many attendees.
Last event for this year will be at our buddies place in Lino Lakes again which I am looking forward to!
In the end, events are fun and fun leads to more fun!
All of my 2016 event galleries can be viewed in my Flickr RIGHT HERE
FURRY MIGRATION ~ NEW POSITION
In the realm of Furry Migration, I still work with
as his co-head and that has been on auto-pilot as well for the most part...My future staffing FM though has many routes and one was placed in front of me.
The convention is starting up an administrative team and they needed someone to run their IT Help Desk. I pounced on this opportunity because, first off, my real job is a Help Desk Administrator and I felt like this is something that I can wrap my head around and handle. I interviewed for it and later got some more visual tours of all the fun software-related stuff with
and, fast-forward to now, I am starting to get it. This is an exciting new opportunity for me and I am curious to see where this may lead to in the future with FM.
PERSONAL ~ OTHER STUFF
Back towards the start to middle of November I started having nerve pinching issues with my right side. Shooting pains would go down my right back side and it became a problem with daily functionality. I saw a doctor for it and that led to an MRI and that led to an orthopedic specialist. I have a couple of herniated discs and one is causing pressure. I have physical therapy coming up and if this does not resolve it, I may consider surgery...Very thankful for my great insurance through work and my HSA.
Missed out on MFF this year since Norm and I are going to TFF as part of a bigger road trip in March.
If I'm a yip yap then you are a bark woof or something...
2016 ~ CONCLUSION
Yes, all the stuff happened!
2017 ~ PREVIEW
- Hosting a big Holiday Party for MNFurs the start of the new year
- Plan and host an MNFurs Post-Winter Party
- Opportunity for a new venue for MNFurs Community Bowling
- Fluffy white snow fun-filled fursuit romp(s)
- Big road trip to Florida and then turn around for TFF
- Team Doge-N-Fox wedding
- Potential new MNFurs Events staff member
That's all for now folks!
HEY, THANKS FOR READING!

- Drake's June Fursuit Romp -
Posted 9 years agoHEY THERE!
Hey there, your friendly Events fox here. Below is a copy/paste of a fursuit romp I am doing next month!
* * * * * * * * * *
Hey there! Back in April I wanted to have a fursuit romp, but it got rained out…So now let’s try this again. I will be hosting this at Lebanon Hills at the Jensen Lake entrance. This is a nice nature-like park with trails that go around the lake. There is also a big pavilion, restrooms, picnic area, & a big playground.
For dinner after the romp, I have a question that I would like some input on –> How do people attending feel about bringing a cold lunch with them and then all eat together at the pavilion? This could be a lot of fun and it will still allow the option to continue to fursuit and play around.
All of the details are below!

- Updates of a Business Fox with Drake M. -
Posted 9 years agoHEY THERE!
Hey there, just another updates journal from your favorite business fox!
TEAM DOGE-N-FOX
and I are still the best team as we go through life together from regular life to work life to furry life. Still very much in love and everything else. Last month was our anniversary month so it was spent over my birthday with great friends while we all dined at Osaka Japanese Steakhouse in Bloomington. The start of this month was Norm's birthday and we had our own endeavors, but still got to be with each other that day during a filming session at
's house.
WORK LIFE
Last month marked my 10-year anniversary with the company I work for and my review went great. A long-term goal is to slowly migrate into a Systems Administrative roll. I hope to make some trips to our northerly facility to work more closely with our Systems Admin there. Along with getting my annual raise there is conversations about moving me into a higher-up pay group too.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR: MNFurs EVENTS DEPARTMENT
After a couple months or so in being fully in charge of the Events Department with
I have a basic feel for how things will go moving forward. With the Spring well on its way to Summer I am sure things will pick up more and I have my own paw full of events I will be launching as well. Also, I am very happy to announce that
is now part of Events. He expressed strong interest and since I need more minions on deck, perfect opportunity. He is also a good friend and I am glad to have him aboard.
I am still looking for additional assistance and my thread about it can be viewed HERE if anyone part of the MNFurs community is interested.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR: FURRY MIGRATION
My work with our annual convention is okay for the most part. Last year was my first full experience in working with the Registration Department more intimately and it's been a fun ride, but in the end, I still feel EH about it...I guess I have discovered that convention work is overall not my particular brand of coffee. This year is probably going to either be my last year on staff all together or I might try again with another department. I have been talking with Vulan on the possibility of joining programming as it's more aligned with what I do for MNFurs...We will see though as I will have a more clear answer as the convention draws closer.
OTHER STUFF
I should really start working on some more poetry, whether it's single poems or a project. Thanks to photography, which I do not regret taking up, that has been my main hobby for quite a while now. I am currently in the market to get a decent pocket-sized camera that can still shoot in RAW so I do not always have to lug my big Canon around.
Another thing that makes me smile is not only the wonderful boyfriend that I have, but the core group of friends that I have in my life too. You guys are all awesome!
I am also thankful for the general support I receive from the community and the rest of the MNFurs Staff and Board of Directors. It's been a journey ever since I started my work back in 2012 !
Also...Yip and yap!
CONCLUSION
Those are some small updates with me and I will have more in another journal in the future. Thank you for reading! :-D

- Sushi Crawl Discussion -
Posted 9 years agoHEY EVERYONE!
Copy/paste time!
* * * * * * * * * *
Hey there, your Events fox again! So, are you a sushi lover? Love it so much that it’s almost an addiction? Towards the end of May or the start of June, I am going to be hosting what I am calling the sushi crawl. This will be held at one of the three Kyoto Sushi & Hibachi locations in the metro…The three locations are Eagan, Roseville, & Maple Grove.
What is the sushi crawl? This is two-fold event where people can RSVP to come and nom on sushi, socialize, etc like any other regular sushi gathering. The next part to this event is 5 people out of the RSVP list can enter the sushi crawl. This is a fun little contest where 5 participants eat sushi throughout the evening and the last one still eating and not full wins.
Grand prize is a gift card to Microcenter along with other prizes for participants.
The rules for this is still being worked on and it will be included in my official thread soon!
Please do not RSVP here as it will be discarded. This is simply a discussion!

Copy/paste from forum thread

Over Anime Detour weekend I have decided to host a fursuit romp with two intentions…One is for those not attending AD and the second for those who want a change of scenery if you are done or want a break from the convention. So hey! Looking for more things to do over AD weekend? Well you are in luck as I am hosting a fursuit romp in the south metro. After the romp we will have dinner somewhere in the Apple Valley or Eagan area.
The park that I have chosen has some nice trails that circle Lake Jensen and gives a nice “one with nature” feel to it. I have been to this park before and really like it. It also has a big playground as well as a pavilion, picnic area, & other amenities.

Posted 9 years agoHEY GUYS!
Below is a copy/paste version of a journal I started on the forums and I am bringing it here for those that do not visit the forums much!

Hey guys, it’s your Events fox again! During the weekend of April 23 is Anime Detour (also my birthday that Saturday) and I plan on hosting a fursuit romp for those who are not attending the con. I want to have this on Sunday because it is a great opportunity for those at the con to hop on over if they’ve had enough of the con and want something else to do. This brings up a question below as I want to hear from our community members…
Are people cool about having this on a Sunday versus Saturday?
For those that have given me feedback on Twitter and FB already, I greatly appreciate it! :)
I already have a park picked out and the official thread will be up this weekend or the start of next week.
Thanks everyone!

Posted 9 years agoHEY THERE!
Below is a cross-post as I want to hear input from our community members on next month's fursuit bowling.
See below!
* * * * * * * * * *
Hey there, your friendly Events fox here. I have another discussion thread for everyone to read and share input on. As most of you may already know, I schedule fursuit bowling on a monthly basis and this is a popular reoccurring event. I am thinking of possibly having breaks (or intermissions) every now and then as a break for everyone. This means that there will be a single month that will NOT have any scheduled fursuit bowling. This brings up the question below…
Do we want to have an April intermission?
I am inquiring because Anime Detour is next month and that will be a big enough local event (convention) as it is. I know many people are attending and scheduling bowling may be tiresome…I am also planning something over AD weekend for those not attending, but that’s a different topic.
I have heard input from our other department staff members and board of directors, but now I want to hear back from our community members.

- Cross-post Formal Introduction -
Posted 9 years agoHEY THERE!
The introduction below I am posting here for those that do not visit the MNFurs Forums. It will make sense when you read everything below.
* * * * * * * * * *
I am posting this here in this sub-forum because I feel it is the best place for it. this post also stems from comments at the Community Forum last Saturday on a lot of people not clear on who the MNFurs staff members are. That being said, this is my formal introduction on who I am and what I do for the community.
My name is Drake or Drake M. (McCloud) and I am the head of the Events Department for MNFurs.
To provide some brief history, I have been part of the MNFurs staff for the past couple of years. I also assist with photography every now and then and before Events, I use to be part of a Research and Volunteers Division.
You may be asking yourself, What does this all mean? I am here to help you organize and run events when you want to make an idea real. We are always looking for something to do that everyone can be part of and I am here to help provide the resources to make your events possible.
I am here to help you put the pieces together on an event that you are not sure how to put together. One of the big challenges for any event runner is figuring out the scope of your event. By scope I am talking about the what, where, when, & why aspects. This is what shapes an event and I am here to help you figure this out.
I am here to help provide the resources for you to run your event. What does this mean? Maybe you already have your event logistics planned out and you need some volunteers, supplies, etc. I can work on my end to get those resources to you so that your event can be successful.
I am here to provide additional assistance. Let’s say that it’s your first time running an event and you are nervous and not sure how everything will go. I am more than willing to be your shadow the first time around and offer feedback during and after your event as well as point you in a direction if you are not sure how to respond to something.
I am here to put on events for you. Simply put, I have my own events that I host for the community and that will never stop.
Lastly, I am here to serve YOU, the community!
Please feel free to ask me any questions. I can also be contacted at –> Events[at]mnfurs.org or Drake[at]mnfurs.org
Thank you!

Updates of a Business Fox with Drake M.
Posted 9 years agoHEY THERE!
It's been a while since I have done one of these types of journals...I think the last one I did was about 6-7 months ago. So, here it goes!
TEAM DOGE-N-FOX
and I are still a fabulous couple and still continuing to grow with each other and I love him very much. We have been through a lot together from when we first started dating. We have also ran a big event together 1-2 years back at the Big Thrill Factory as well as other small events and it's been a blast. To all of our friends and family, we always love and appreciate the ongoing support!
Team Doge-N-Fox go!
COMMUNITY
A lot has happened since my last journal and I have done so many things for the community. When I say community I mean anything from
to
(Furry Migration). I still do stuff with the
, but it has been quiet in that realm and most of my time and energy is focused on the MNFurs side and just doing a lot of my own events that are not under any particular "banner" (ex. Fursuit Mini Golf).
It's been a lot of hard work and energy, but it's always worth it to me. This actually leads into my next topic that also relates to community...
MNFurs EVENTS DEPARTMENT
I am very excited about the Events Department with MNFurs. After conversations with a couple of the board of directors the Events Department has been assigned to me to fully run. The two others in the department (Yarrick and Legonnare) are stepping down to focus on other endeavours. Now that I am the official department head, this brings forth a lot of responsibility and even though I am nervous I am still just thrilled and excited for this. Being solo with the Events Department, I will need to get a feel for it, but I am sure that it will be fun sailing.
Most of you know me in the community, and I will continue to work with everyone on event ideas and assist when/if necessary. I want our community members to be able to approach me at any time if questions arise on our types of events, how to start one, and so on. I will continue to keep putting out my usual events for everyone to be part of (ex. Fursuit bowling + more). Lastly, I will be a leader for our community within my department and serve professionally!
Moving forward, I will eventually be looking for potential candidates who want to staff my department. When that times comes I will probably post a more official thread on the forums.
I also want to thank the Board of Directors for this opportunity and the continuing support!
UPCOMING EVENTS
I will be talking about a lot of this at the next Community Forum as there is plenty. For a quick update though, next month's fursuit bowling has been scheduled and I have a couple events of my own I will setup and schedule at some point too.
Watch the forums and my FA!
Thank you for reading!
