Thinking of adding VAT to my commission prices
Posted 4 years agoThis journal concerns my clients and my clients only.
I've been considering adding a flat 24% VAT tax increase on top of my regular commission prices going forward. With how things are in Finland, right now I'm paying the 24% out of my own paycheck. Add to that Patreon and Paypal's service fees, the 20,25% municipary tax and the mandatory business pension, and I'm looking at around half of my income going down the drain. I can't avoid paying the later fees, but VAT is something clients usually if not always pay themselves in business transactions. Thus, I will need to add it to the commission fees sooner of later if I want to make this business viable.
Before anyone accuses me of being greedy, I want to make it abundantly clear I would rather not anyone had to pay these stupid taxes. But since we live in a society and tax evasion is not an option, somebody has to do it. This is my only source of income and I do need to be able to financially support myself, and the second step (after Patreon) to make that a viable option in the long run is to start operating like an actual business. It is what it is unfortunately.
That being said, how many of you would still be able AND willing to commission me if there was a flat 24% increase on the final price? If you do not plan on commissioning me either way, PLEASE DO NOT answer. I'm trying to gether some actual information here.'

Posted 4 years agoCommissions are now closed and all invoices have been sent! Congratulations to all clients. Bit of a bigger batch this time with a total of 18 commissions. There were so many good ones I just couldn't cut it down further hahaa.
The clients and the status on their pic will be listed below in the order that they were paid. I will finish the remaining two commissions this week and start work on this batch next week. The turnaround for all these will be around two months as per usual!

Closing down my Subscribestar and new perks on Patreon

As of today I will seize all activity on Subscribestar. It's just not wise to continue maintaining a site with merely 12 supporters when the alternative in Patreon has over 140. So in the future, I will be focusing solely on Patreon.

BACK TO WORK
Posted 4 years agoFour-and-a-half weeks after moving and ordering new furniture for my office, today the missing parts for my table FINALLY arrived. Five hours of setting up my little work-corner later and voila, here it is!
With this part of my move done, I can finally resume doing art full-time- starting today!! So sorry to all my clients for this unexpected four-week "holiday", but the wait is finally over. The people who are first in my queue, expect to start seeing progress with your pics within a week!

Moved house

To those who don't follow my Twitter or aren't in my Discord server; I bought an appartment last week and moved in on Friday! It's been a rather hectic past week or so with packing, moving and unpacking as you can imagine.
The main reason I haven't posted or drawn any new art however is because my office is not done yet. I'm still waiting for a new office table and chair, and I don't want to set up my PC before they arrive. I ordered them on Saturday and they SHOULD arrive this week. But if they don't I will come up with a temporary solution so I can get back to work. I really want to be able to draw again but for now I'm just playing the waiting game. Not gonna lie, it's all a bit frustrating. But it is what it is.
I'll see you all as soon as possible!

As of tomorrow, I'm going to take a much needed break to visit family and friends for the Christmas and New Year holiday. I'll be back in January to resume business as usual (as well as hopefully announce some quite big changes regarding the future of my work). I tried my best to get all commission work done before heading off, but it just wasn't possible. But hey, 9/13 pics done in a little over a month ain't too bad, eh? xP
I have however 4 new pics as well as the rest of the Dean commissions backlogged so you should still be seeing new content while I'm away. I'll also be active on Twitter in case you miss me lol
Aside that, hope y'all have a really great Christmas despite all the BS going on in the world still! Talk to you soon <3

In case you didn't know, besides art I also DJ! Music has always been the biggest passion of mine besides art (and I'd argue an even bigger one) and this has been my way of expressing my love for music for the past few years.
Nowadays I spin almost exclusively hardstyle but I try to spice it up by including as many subgenres and other genres mixed in with 'style as possible, even dedicating whole mixes to showcasing the different genre fusions. Thus far I've done a mix blending psytrance, space-themed ambiance, regular trance and my most recent one, heavy metal. Next one's gonna be all about synthwave and retro sounds and let me tell you, it's gonna be siiiiiiiiick.
I've been trying to grow my platform so I can get booked on more gigs (mainly furry cons) so if you could check my stuff out I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Two week vacation + Dean commissions!

Quick update about a few things! I'm going away on a two week vacation with family and friends for two weeks and I'll return 12.7!
To my clients; have patience, I mentioned in the commission journal that these pieces will take a bit longer to pump out. Rest assured I haven't forgotten about you. After I return home it's back to business as usual and I'll work extra hard to get your pics done in a reasonable timeframe!
As for the second thing, I want to commission more pics of Dean getting some action since most of the pics of his are by my own hand. Thing is, I don't really commission art that often so I'm useless at following when slots and whatnot open. I also don't have many friends who'd like to get more... Let's say "intimate" art with him. So what I'm asking you is, if you're getting a commission sometime and would like to have Dean as part of it, don't be afraid to shoot me a note! I'm more than willing to split the costs hahaa.
Anyway, that is all! Have a nice rest of june and see you in the comments~

With corona currently destroying civilization as we now it, I for one have a pretty much infinite amount of time to draw. So what better way to take advantage of an unfortunate sittuation than to exploit it for money??
With that said, 5-10 new commission slots this friday, 3.4!

Going to NFC (and a two week break)

As is custom at this time of the year, I'll be attending Nordic Fuzzcon next week! This obviously means that all commission progress is put on hold until I'm back. I will however stay an additional week after the con in the South for my winter break (mostly to chill, attend gigs and finish schoolwork). So, to the remaining clients- the whopping two that are left in the queue-, I'll continue working on your pics when I get back in the beginning of march.
Luckily I do have three pics in the backlog so there'll still be some content while I'm away! And if you're attending NFC, feel free to come and say hi~ ^^ And, if you fancy, come and my DJ-gigs on wednesday's WTF- Welcome to Finland-party, thursday's B.O.U.N.C.E Culture-dance or Friday's End of the Line-party!!

I received so many good commission requests this time around, seriously! That's why I took on more orders than I've taken in over a year. A few really good ones were unfortunately left behind but it is what it is, I can't take on 20+ commissions at the same time hahaa ^^;

I'm gonna kick off the century with new commission slots this week on friday (10.1). Dunno how many slots but at least 5. NOT FIRST COME FIRST SERVED so you'll have the weekend to fill in the form! More info on Friday but y'all should know the deal by now~

I ended up going with six commissions, even though I easily could've gone with 10 again. There were some really fun ones I had to pass unfortunately ;_; But I want to make sure not to overburden myself so I can 100% get these done by Christmas. I hope you all understand.
I've sent a PM either on FA, Twitter or telegram and an invoice via Paypal to the six clients whom I've chosen. I'm gonna add you to the list in the order that you've paid.
