HEY EVERYPONY! And a super special hello to all you Hu-mans and Hu-ladies! (I got this language DOWN)

Lyra Heartstrings here, human researcher and citizen of Ponyville, home to Princess Twilight Sparkle and a new disaster every Saturday.

I’m here to talk about a very important topic: humans(you) and me!

Throughout my extensive studies of interviews, interactions and Google searches (never use Google with safe-search off. EVER), I have discovered a few very interesting things about you guys in relation to my appearances on the hit documentary program My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Oh wait, that Boardglambrownie person usually asks you a question? Okay fine. Why do you think humans like me so much? Is it all the stories they create?

I don’t see myself that much in the documentary, which is a shame. I heard the fifth season might give me a chance though…(it’s not a spoiler if it’s speculation! )

Well, I think I know why I’m liked so much, but I need confirmation from you guys. I’ve narrowed it down to three reasons based on totally true traits the fans have speculated I have.

The holidays are upon us, guys, meaning there is only one week left in the year 2014.

No doubt many of you have partaken in the age-old gift giving rituals across the world for whichever celebration you enjoy, whether it be time with family and friends or even online communion with your fellow fandom members. For some of you, those celebrations are still on-going while others have chosen a more relaxed holiday environment with their own personal focuses.

But I’m here today to help you think about what you want to do starting in one week. I’m not talking about New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve never really liked that term. Instead, I want to ask you:

What gift do you want to give yourself in 2015?

Seems a simple enough question, but I want you to think really hard about something. I’m not talking about an item (unless that item is important in radically changing your life). Here are examples of what I mean:

-You can promise to be kinder towards yourself and forgive past mistakes you’ve made.

-You can decide it’s time to take that life-changing step you’ve always wanted to do for the better.

-You can promise to give friendship another chance when perhaps it seemed like it would never work again.

-You can decide to chase after that dream you wanted, no matter how out-of-reach it may seem, no matter how silly it may sound, and dare to move ever towards it.

Today’s question is about deciding how you want to make 2015 better than this year, better than any year you’ve had so far.

And hey, if you want it to include ponies, that’s fine too.






My goal for 2015 does include ponies, but that’s because my life is 120% filled to the brim with ponies:

My camera finally arrived. It’s the one I’ll be using to create some new Drawponies videos. Not only that, but I’ll be taking it across the country to film the events I experience. I’ll be interviewing bronies I meet along the way, trying to get their take on things that matter to them as well as fun events we’ll be participating in, like the improv show Whooves Line is it Anyway?

Along the way, I think I’ll discover more about myself in the process. Whether I’m on-camera as myself or filming in-character, I’ll make extra effort to treat myself right so I can find the confidence to be more daring this year in my endeavors than I was even last year.

I’m going to find a way to use my film making, documentaries and performances to make next year the year where I reach a new and wonderful level in my life.

(Scenario) You find yourself in Ponyville with the appearance of one of the mane six. Soon after your arrival, you realize you may have replaced the original pony permanently and don’t know if they’ll ever come back. What do you do?

4. Hide the fact that you’re not the original pony as long as possible and assimilate into their previous life, dispelling any suspicions from other ponies about your true nature.

(Sunset Shimmer Spin-Off) Yesterday’s poll proved that Sunset Shimmer has grown in popularity! If there were a spin-off MLP series about Sunset Shimmer, which of the following premises would you like to see?

2. (Finding Twilight) Twilight Sparkle has gone missing and her friends have no idea what has happened to her. Celestia tasks Sunset Shimmer with finding her, as Shimmer revisits a lot of Twilight Sparkle’s friends for clues.

So last night, we got some amazing responses to the question concerning biggest MLP-related regrets on deviantART. :D

Let’s switch gears and focus on the other side of the spectrum. It’s no secret that MLP:FiM has inspired many individuals in so many different ways. So now it’s time to think about that.

Tonight’s question is simple: What are some of the most fun and wonderful things you’ve experienced thanks to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? You can talk about inspirations, friendships you’ve made, opportunities which have opened up and anything unexpected which has made your life so much better.

I’ll talk about three quick things which I’m happy about.



1. My friends

Last night I mentioned that the one person who helped me find my first-ever brony friends was Hannah K, a.k.a. voice of Vinyl Scratch from the Vinyl Scratch Tapes on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-jGp0OxMOY

I met my friends at A-Kon 22 in Dallas, Texas. I had just introduced myself at a brony meetup during the con when we found we had several hours of free time. I suggested we make a boardgame and earned the title of “Boardgamebrony” from them, since they didn’t remember the name I gave during the meet-and-greet. (It was “Sonata,” by the way, which is listed on the April Foal’s story I entered on EquestriaDaily).



2. My pony inspirations

I’ve learned so much about how to become a better person thanks to My Little Pony. I know that most of the problems are over-simplified to fit into 22 minutes, but the heart the writers, artists and voice actors put into each character really inspires me to be the kind of individual others can look up to.

There have been times when temptations have come my way to be more selfish or follow a path that only benefits me, but I think about the Elements of Harmony and imagine two outcomes: the one where I follow my own path and think about people seeing me as selfish and the path where I follow my desired Element of Harmony and become a role model for others to follow.
Some days it can be really hard, but every little success moves me further down the path of the person I want to be. And I can thank My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, for that.



3. My Drawponies job

The previous two amazing things (friends and inspiration) helped me get the Drawponies job I have today. I care about people and about being that virtuous person, so I proved I was a reliable individual and finally, finally, after years of retail jobs with managers who didn’t always appreciate me, I was able to find a job that uses virtually every skill I have from costume performance to writing to artistic expression and convention sales.
Both Neil Drawponies and all of you have helped make this possible. *hugs all*

(Roleplay Event Possibility) What if there was a Drawponies journal event with some minor roleplaying elements? Would you be interested in participating in one of the following forms of roleplay?

2. (Canterlot Siege RP) Users roleplay random OC’s in Canterlot during the Season 2 finale changeling attack. Mods roleplay an attack, users perform defense and counterattack, mods finalize the effect.

3. (Daring Temple RP) Users roleplay entrance into a temple, mods roleplay the traps and monsters, users respond and mods finalize the actions as the users find some “treasure (from the internet)” at the end.

7. (Multiverse Roulette RP) Mods create a set of alternate worlds based on 12 choices and a 12-sided di. User describes their character preparing. Mods roll d12 and describe character’s entrance. Fan fiction fodder in 2 posts.

8. (Character Generator RP) Using the Ponyfinder game book, mods create a character users can keep. User roleplays arriving at Character generator and inputs specifications of what they want. Mods write it out.

9. (Monster Generator RP) Using inspiration from roleplaying game monster books, Players pick a monster type from a list of 20 and roleplay their character preparing for it. Mods describe monster users may now keep.

It was on October 10, 2010 that the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic premiered on the HUB Network (may that network rest in peace). We’ve had over four years of pony since then, giving us 4 seasons, 91 episodes, 2 Equestria Girls movies and an upcoming My Little Pony movie in 2017 along with tons of fan content that I doubt any one person could see in their entire lifetime (though many are willing to try).

There are moments, however, where we find ourselves sitting back and regretting things which happened. Maybe something directly related to the show itself. Maybe it has to do with the community. Perhaps a regret focuses on how others treat bronies in relations to the show.




Tonight’s question is simple, though the answers may not be: What is one of your biggest regrets concerning My Little Pony, the fandom, or the response of people outside the fandom? Is it personal and perhaps related to something you did or did not do and you wish it would’ve been otherwise?





My regret is…pretty huge. It’s probably the reason I came up with this idea in the first place.

In March 2011 I discovered My Little Pony. Nearly a month passed as I went online, found EquestriaDaily (which was only 2 months old at that time) and started learning everything I could about the show and the fandom. I thought about ponies every single day that I could. I kept their pictures on my phone. I listened to the fan music. I even entered EquestriaDaily’s April Fool’s writing contest: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/.....sion-post.html (My story was number 43, “The Fortress of Time.” The link doesn’t lead anywhere now…)

Then something happened with one of the community groups I was in at the time. Due to their influence, I was coerced into giving up everything I had involving My Little Pony. They were nightmarishly controlling. They thought “unicorns were evil,” amongst many other things. Sounds silly, doesn’t it? I thought so too, but their terrifying influence made me suffer until I got rid of everything. I deleted pictures, removed my deviantART account, stopped watching anything online and then withdraw my April Fool’s story from EquestriaDaily. I couldn’t even tell Sethisto, the EQD Moderator, the reason why.

It would two months later when I finally met the first-ever in-person brony friends who changed my life. The one brony who was responsible for leading me to my group of friends was Hannah K, voice of Vinyl Scratch from the Vinyl Scratch Tapes: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/.....sion-post.html

The more I think about how I was pushed away from My Little Pony, the more I realize how much I could’ve positively influenced the fandom at that early stage. I fought viciously against the attempts to remove My Little Pony from my life at that time, and I keep thinking if I’d only fought a little harder, I might be on Equestria Daily’s staff right now. Who knows if there were moments when Seth and his friends would get together at a con, completely oblivious to the empty chair that could’ve been filled by me. Who knows how many instances have occurred where early pony conventions and meet-ups needed someone to lead them, and I wasn’t there because I let some hateful coercive group beat me down. In some alternate reality, all of you might be reading this on EquestriaDaily or who knows what other site.

That is my biggest regret, that I couldn’t find a way to keep fighting for something I cared so much about and which would’ve changed the entire fandom if I had. : (

Of course, I fight harder than ever to keep my love of the fandom alive now. And I’ve done so much in the fandom because I had to fight so hard to get it back. Perhaps…Perhaps there is an upside after all…
