Back in the thick of it
Posted 12 years agoIt's been a long time since i've been on here and i've sort of been on a creative hiatus for awhile too. I'm hoping to change that soon. I've lived in Chicago now for about a year and half and i'm finally settled in. Hopefully i'll be a little more active than I have been the past couple of years. If your around Chicago or more specifically Rogers Park or Edgewater, hit me up!

Thoughts About iFC2010
Posted 15 years agoThis is about the first minute i've had since the con to blog about anything. It's been a long road to make iFC a reality and it's been quite the experience.
Those that were fortunate enough to be able to make it to Indy this year I'm almost certain will be sure to tell you they had a memorable experience. It was for me for sure. There was a significant amount of doubt that an idea like this could become a reality; admittedly even from myself at times. Friday morning when people started walking through the doors at the Hilton Indianapolis North, I was overcome with joy and fulfillment to see the dream come alive. All weekend long, there was no mood other than happiness in the air from the convention staff, attendees, and even the hotel staff. We've even gotten positive feedback about the Dorsai Irregulars from multiple people.
As for our programming events, most if not all seemed well received and had decent levels of participation. Even the panel i did with Pistolpup and Firr on Saturday morning about DJing had a good amount of people interested. All three nights' dances had good turnouts and the music selection was well received by those who attended.
All of our dealers in the Den pre-registered for next year before the close of business Sunday afternoon. The artist alley was packed all weekend as well. It's probably safe to say everyone who came to sell something made out fairly well.
We've not been short on feedback both directly and indirectly. All of the staff has been out there reading people's blogs and comments about their experiences and are taking everyone's feedback into consideration for planning iFC2011.
Once it was all said and done, I left there feeling so good about the whole experience. It just felt like pure magic pulling it all off like we did. I really have to give credit to all the people who offered us all the help and advice to make sure we didn't easily repeat past experiences and mistakes other conventions have learned from. Uncle Kage, Giza, Duncan, Takaza, Gir Tygrin, the Dorsai, and so many others were extremely helpful in making this a success and I thank them all very much.
So we're going to learn from the minor issues of this year and continue to build something even more special for 2011. iFC will return to the fabulous Hilton Indianapolis North on August 12-14th, 2011 for "IndyFurCon and the Furries of the Lost Ark" celebrating Indiana Jones.

A New Start
Posted 15 years agoSome may know I've been living in Indianapolis for a little over 2 years now. Since i've moved here, i've made quite a bit of progress both socially and intellectually. However, I have had little success with my career path here.
The most successful operation i've been a part of in the Indianapolis area has been Whoozfur Inc, a non-profit arts organization. I have also finally been able to focus my musical talents on electronic music and being a club music DJ.
I recently have had an employment opportunity come about at a company I was previously employed with in my hometown. It's been something i've had to think about and consider quite a bit. However, i have found that it's in my best interest to accept the position.
Within the coming weeks, i'll be reestablishing myself back in the Fort Wayne area and hope that I can take my experiences from the past two years and use them to further push toward my goals in life. I also am excited to see how I can spread Whoozfur Inc's relations to the area through organizing some local events in the near future.
All being said, it's not exactly what I want in life, but it feels more like a step in the right direction than what i've been doing, so i'll take it as I go and see how far I can get.

iFC Art Contest
Posted 16 years agoIndyFurCon needs art for the website, convention program book, and for other materials and purposes as well. I would like to invite Indiana furry artists as well as others to create their best for us in a contest. If your art is chosen to be featured on the website, program book, or any other way at the convention, we will have some special prizes and recognition at the closing ceremonies sunday night.
If you are intersted in submitting art to us, it needs to feature our convention mascot the cardinal, and can be wearing the official IndyFurCon logo on a sports jersey. Our jersery colors are blue and gold. It also needs to feature our theme for this year which is "Tropical, Furry, Fun!" Anything from web art to t-shirt designs are welcome. T-Shirt designs must feature "IndyFurCon 2010" or" iFC 2010" in words with or without the official logo. If you need a copy of the logo please email jmiller@indyfurcon.com.
You may submit art to us along with your name, address, and phone number at
artcontest[at]indyfurcon.com
You must be present at the convention for prizes and recognition during the closing ceremonies.
I look forward to seeing everybody's submissions.
