Posted 2 years agoI'll spare you the "my family is horrid" sob story and just cut to the chase: I need to start plugging commissions way, way more often. Unfortunately this is getting even harder with social media being a fucking mess and this place closing its forum, so I'd really appreciate any kind of boosting or suggesting where else I can advertise (pls don't suggest or post anything of mine to Tumblr). Do people still use Furbid/Furbuy? I don't know.
So yeah here's the usual info. I've raised the latter price by $5, I'm sorry, my prices are already low and the fees keep going up.

Posted 2 years agoGet 'em while they're hot. Also maybe uh, tell your friends, since my avenues of advertising are becoming slimmer by the day.

closing the forum sure is a stupid idea, gg FA
Posted 3 years agoDiscord is great for chatting and all but it's sure gonna be hard to get a commission post seen when the chat scrolls constantly, even in a dedicated sales-only channel. The beauty of the forum is making my little curated post, editing it when necessary, and bumping it every so often. A forum page is also easier to scroll through, bookmark posts, etc. This is a really dumb decision, imo.
Not to mention uh, I keep my discord private for a reason, lol. I'm not making a second account just to avoid weirdos.
swear to fucking god the universe is yelling at me to give up art. first twitter, now this, why is everything garbage

Art style going forward--including commissions
Posted 4 years agoPeople probably don't know this because I'm a nobody and like 3 people from here follow me on Twitter, but I've been extremely unhappy with my art style for some time now. While I'm glad people like it enough, I feel it's incredibly bland, generic, and shows a clear lack of fundamentals. It's been a real struggle at times to work on things.
I've tried from time to time to try new things, unfortunately with few if any results, and even less interest from my watchers, resulting in an awful, soul-crushing feedback loop that's actively discouraged and depressed me. Lately I've gone back to an old style I used to poke at years ago that's very reminiscent of the Wind Waker art style, and it's honestly been fucking refreshing. For the first time in what feels like ages I'm actually having fun and liking what I produce. Sadly people don't seem to like it that much, either, but it might finally be time for me to put my foot down and tell myself, "Heck with that, I like it."
Advice I've often seen is "Do what makes you happy, and you'll attract others that also enjoy it." This is probably the worst time for me to start listening to that advice, because I've had to turn down two commissions already and I could really use the money, but I really really just.. want to make content that I like and enjoy. It's important for my overall well-being and my workflow.
Will I ever draw the "old style" again? For personal art only, I think. I'm still playing with the new style a bit; not everything will be quite so "chibi" (god I hate that word), so please don't think I'll only be doing cutesy things!
In short, I'm sorry to the people who like what I've been farting out over the years, but I really need some change, and I want it to stick this time.
Thank you!

Commission TOS Update
Posted 5 years agoI'm going to add a rule to my TOS that clients are only allowed to publicly share/repost watermarked versions of any art they receive.
Sadly gonna have to start using watermarks as I found out yesterday my old Yule Cat pic got Hella Stolen and ended up all over the place, including someone making cash off it on Etsy :[ (I sent a DMCA, the listing's gone and the seller's offering to pay me some, but Big Yikes all the same)
Even if you're a nobody artist like me, never assume your stuff won't ever be stolen!

TERMS:
1. Payment must be received in full before any work begins
2. I reserve the right to refuse a commission for any reason
3. I reserve the right to cancel a commission due to rude or inappropriate behavior or poor communication
4. cancelled commissions will be refunded minus the cost of any work already completed
5. I will not provide refunds for completed work
6. I retain ALL rights to my art; client may not alter or resell any works, nor use my works as training data for AI
7. client may repost watermarked versions only to their personal gallery or website after receiving my permission
8. works are NOT to be posted to any website that does not allow complete removal of said works (i.e. Tumblr), or does not allow the opting-out of any AI data scraping (i.e. Twitter/X)

10. Sending payment confirms you have read and agree to these terms
WILL DRAW:
-ferals, anthros, humans, monsters, etc.
-flirty poses
-Barbie-doll nudity
-light blood/violence
-fanart*
WON'T DRAW:
-anything NSFW
-any fetish material
-cub/diapers
-anime
*this includes original characters based in a pre-existing setting (i.e. Warcraft). This is a case-by-case basis for me, sometimes I'm not keen on doing commissions for media that I'm personally invested in. The short list of "no" includes but is not limited to:
-Zelda
-Warcraft
-Pokemon (trainers/normal pokemon okay, no pokesonas)
-Monster Hunter (hunters/palicoes okay, no monstersonas)
Progress/Revisions:
I typically operate in a very straightforward sketch>>>final manner without much in between. Sometimes you might get more than one sketch if I can't decide on a pose, in which case you'll probably get a few block-outs without much detail to pick from before the final sketch. Any changes are encouraged to be made here, although I'm usually perfectly capable of making changes to the final as well. I don't charge for minor revisions, but complete redraws will incur an extra charge depending on the stage of completion.
