Hello, it's been a while hasn't it.

In the last couple of years living in NJ, USA, things haven't gone to plan to a sufficient degree. I could go into a list of reasons why it happened, but that's not going to solve the here and now or the near future.

I'm getting into more debt and Inamruzui and I are going to be homeless by the end of July if nothing changes.

We need to raise funds for covering somewhere to live and ideally paying off some of our car loan too.

For that reason, I am selling my very sentimentally valued model railway collection from the UK that i have had for more than 20 years.

ONE MONTH WARNING:
I have been a member of FurAffinity for 8 years now. Throughout that time I have seen the site barely hold on, from strength to strength, despite being the most popular furry website it always seemed to have the most problems and controversy. Then IMVU took over and like many expected, it hasn't gotten any better. This is your fair warning that in spite of the potential for this website to provide additional breadth of platform for advertising Vulpine Designs Unlimited and my book, the problems it has been plagued by, combined with my desire to migrate to decentralised and peer to peer systems in the long term, have now superseded that concern. Whilst I do not yet host my own Mediagoblin or Diaspora* servers, I can at least reduce the exposure to corporate failures to protect my information by using sites like this one less and focussing my efforts where they are needed. It is therefore with fond memories and a heavy heart that I have decided that my FurAffinity account needs to be closed in a month or so.

I WILL STILL BE A FURRY. Leaving the fandom forever is not a possibility for me, as it is so much more than a fandom for me and those I care about. So the new year rolls around and my dad tells me I may or may not have a chance to move to his house in July when I finish uni. What I would like to do is establish a combined place for my business and for me and a few friends to live in. The reality is I lack the money. This journal is mainly written to displace the previous one off my front page. Because I don't want to depress everyone with stuff that's mostly outside their spheres of influence.

It is a dark day indeed that I find myself writing a journal like this, and that's not even due to the time of year, though it probably does not help the mood.

I am informed that one I once loved and foolishly made a mistake about in the middle of the night whilst half asleep that ended our long relationship, is now in a state such that she deems ending her life to be an option. She has blocked me from direct communication with her, and to be honest I don't think she will read this journal. What I wanted when we sadly had to break up was for her to get on the mend, to feel better about herself again and to get on with life happily with someone else. That would have been enough, just to know that. Just to hear that all is not lost just because of some stupid thing my stupid subconscious did.

Now, upon also hearing of this, her friends are, one by one, no longer my friends. Ostracision spreads as the depression deepens, right when people need to work together to help her. Do you really think that falling out with me will help her? Or do you think it will confirm her worst interpretation of me, as being no better than the monster she was with before me (who has now been to jail and may still be there). Never mind the magnitudinal difference of the actual things done, a depressed and confused mind under the weight of so much stress can easily conflate. She told me so herself. She said she was scared that this would happen. Now, all she has is that fear coming true.

I never stopped loving her and never will, and although I can't be with her any more for quite understandable reasons, she does not deserve social disintegration around her. She needs people to be strong. Please, see past the drama and get a grip to save the ones who really need to be saved, before it is too late. You can have your arguments, shout, swear and be ashamed of me all you want later. Let her get better first.

Otherwise, it won't just be me regretting this, it will be all of us involved or who ever knew her. The same goes for anyone who knows anyone suicidal. Don't run away from them when they need you most.

I now have had chance to think about how this will be interpreted some more.
I realise that there are ways in which what I say could be taken that do not convey the true intent with which it was written, that is, I think that some who read this journal might think I am trying to manipulate the facts or feelings around my break-up with my ex. I am sorry if it comes across to you that way. This appears to be yet another of those cases where the text does the inflections and emotions no justice. I want to clarify now, for those who have any doubt:

I am looking to rent somewhere in Southampton from at the latest the 6th of October, until June. I am a student at the University of Southampton and my current accommodation, landlord and letting agent are not up to scratch. The letting agent lied in his advertisements about the property, by placing it as a room to let as if it would be a tenancy when it was in fact a Guest House (in name and contract only, as a legal convenience for the landlord).
I am not technically homeless, but I am very stressed in my current digs and need somewhere better. If furries want to club together with me to rent a place, it would be awesome.

I will be moving to Southampton as of the Twenty-somethingth of September, most likely into rented student accommodation near Soton Uni/UoS. I will be living there until June next year, after which I am likely to move away from the South altogether. Any furs in the Southampton area who want a furry 25 year old student to make up their numbers for renting a shared place, please speak up now before I view properties on Friday 28th Aug.

Bournemouth and Poole furs should note that until I move away from the region, I shall frequently return to Bournemouth and to Poole, Rossmore and Merley to partake in various shenanigans there, so I will still be seen around the place from time to time for several months. However, come mid-2016, expect my presence in the South to tail off (pun heavily intended). I will still be attending Comicon and the BBQ this weekend.

On the bright side, this means I'll find it much easier to attend What The Fluff in October, and will have a lot of logistical benefits to enjoy in relation to university.

I need to have a backup option roomie who can very quickly drop into place if my current potential roomie finds out they can't move their job to Southampton. This is therefore a tentative offer, and if the current potential roomie manages to move their job in time, the offer closes.

The time frame is: need to find out ASAP if you're in (like, in the next day or two) and moving in would be around 21st Sept.
The rent is £600pcm for the 2 bed flat and I would look to split it £300pcm each. We will lack furniture initially but this will be resolved via Freecycle and frugal shopping methods. At least it's a roof over your head.

After six years, four months and twenty-three days of being together as a couple,  esqui and I are single again, and neither of us is currently looking for anyone as we both need a break from the whole relationship thing anyway.

Many complicated and confounding reasons were agonisingly debated over the last few months, which eventually brought us both, independently, to the same conclusion. We have drifted apart and it would be artificial to try to reconcile this now. We will still live in the same flat for the sake of convenience, but only as long as needed.

So, what does this mean for me?

I'll carry on doing university and Vulpine Designs Unlimited. The Constructorium is still a thing too, but I aim to pass that on to others to run so as to free myself up to run off elsewhere and set up Vulpine Labs. It will be an actual, physical place.

So, it has been many a long year since I first joined the fandom, and a good few since Operation Fuzzball began. I can safely say the dream of Freedom of Form remains on track for a Plan A or Plan B outcome, which is really not bad at all. I have plans A-Z, 0-9 and some that use silly punctuation marks, to give you some idea of how many there are. So it's quite good.

The most time consuming project in all this is my university work, a BSc Biochemistry hardly gives itself away to you, even less will the PhD when we come to that. But that'll all be worth it anyway, furries or no furries.

Some of you have contacted me about deeply held spiritual feelings about being an animal or anthropomorphic furry spirit deep inside. I do not close my mind to such feelings, and wonder about them in myself. However, I must urge that anyone who feels that way does not allow the long time we are still likely to take to develop furry TF to get the better of them in the form of despair, impatience or depression. Far better to channel that energy, however it initially seems to want to manifest itself, into getting something productive and creative done. If you ask me I'll of course say there are plenty of things to do to help out with Operation Fuzzball. But press me for a specific task to give you and I'll come up short. That's because I am altogether too busy to think up tasks to delegate properly. A lousy manager, ain't I. But look at the forums at forums.vulpinedesigns.co.uk and see the various things to do there, use a little imagination, even a very sideways kind of help is still help. Besides, you can always try and sell copies of An Atom of Freedom if you're bored and want to help that much :-P

Money is also appreciated, since bicycles used for regular commutes wear out obscenely fast and I am worried that one of these days the Bank of Dad will be closed. I prefer it in the form of Bitcoin, Namecoin, Primecoin, Peercoin or Startcoin. And cue the 'I have no idea what you are talking about' and 'there's no way furries will ever exist in our lifetime, quit deluding yourself' comments. Yeah, whatever. Quit deluding yourselves. I'll still get a decent qualification and a biotech company out of this either way, how about you? At least I'm trying to bring a dream to life. Better to try and fail than never to try at all.

You may have noticed I haven't done a lot lately on FurAffinity. That's because I am busy.
I am busy going to university and doing all the homework they try to bury me under. I am busy getting Vulpine Designs a new server set up. I am busy trying to get our home fixed, in spite of the landlord and letting agents and their relative unwillingness to help. I am busy having more ideas than I have the time to write down about the future. I am busy trying to bring about that future in the most positive and helpful way to the world I can.

Lots of people saying they're not leaving FA but are opening accounts at other furry sites, unlike those OTHER furries who are apparently drama-llama-ing out and leaving FA forever. Who? Which other furries? The only one in all those 296 journals that said they were leaving forever did so in a careful, well-researched and considered way.

I guess I'm just following all the right people. :-P

FWIW I think we have bigger fish to fry than which furry art sites we use at the moment anyway. With the Snowden revelations floating around I would rather migrate away from mainstream sites to the furry ones (and my own website, and distributed/peer-to-peer stuff like Diaspora and Opensim). Not because of having anything to hide, but for the principle of the thing. Not that I'm even doing that quickly. These things take time when you have a couple of hundred on your friends list and trying to persuade even a small number of them to move is very tough. So it's more a gradual scaling-down thing in such places as Secondlife, Facebook, Google+ and eventually Twitter. Yeah, by the time I'm on the P2P things etc, it will turn out that they too are subverted, but at least I have some motivation to move my ass gradually, rather than just sit there and take the government agencies' words at face value. And so some kind of progress will happen, like it should, rather than continued lock-in. Facebook will become irrelevant. All things do in the end. So will FA. But not just yet. VCL is still going for crying out loud.

OK, I've not been the most vocal in the furry space recently. But everything I do is with furries in mind, weird as it sounds. More on that later.

So Vulpine Designs' website is due to go DOWN this weekend for a big rebuild. It will be backed up, stripped down and built anew without a lot of the problems the current site has, but hopefully with content kept intact as an archive.

My bike has had an expensive set of upgrades to render it ready for years of university, including indicators and helmet cam.

I'm preparing content for sale on SecondLife, using Vulpine Laboratories as a cheap and easy test bed as I learn mesh.

I'm gradually getting around to writing more for Freedom Of Form (An Atom Of Freedom book 2). I hope to have a chunk of the Vulpine Designs website arranged around it soon for better promotion of the story. If anyone can help with secondlife ebook PDF dispensers, e.g. finding me a good one to use in the first place, I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks to all for your patience, if you can bear with my being extremely busy for the next couple of decades, those of you who are interested enough in what I work on should be able to reap the benefits first-hand. It's a quest, and it's already well underway. More stuff about my quest will be explained soon in obscure web pages, unassuming metaphors and protected fora.

*Convert Project Legotop into a server of some sort
*Look into a replacement server as Project Legotop can only be temporary.

*Get an OpenSim running on the new server and call it Vulpine Laboratories with the help of  screaming-lupine - thus starting the cyber-R&D dept.

*fraternise, liaise and network with ALL the people to keep updated and sort out website forum memberships
*Commence university and study Biochemistry and Genetics with a certain furry R&D aim...
This is hot on the heels of my achievement of all Distinction grades at college over the last year overall. That was just the beginning.
I have a major goal in mind, which will benefit all who are likely to read this journal.
I am already a couple of years into the preparations for the next steps towards my goal.

Oh nuts, I read back over that and it sounded big-headed and evil. Scrap, scrap, scrap - start again!

It's been a long time since I started in the furry fandom. Some people get all jaded and disillusioned with their fellow furries over this time. I can see why, I've encountered the best, worst and even worse than those people in my time here. But I am still proud to count myself among this tolerant and heartening pile of madness. Why? It's my home now. And pound for pound, there are at least 10 times as many nice people in the fandom as nasty. Something this good deserves not to be shunned due to the actions of a minority.
Even if being a nice furry was to be the minority, I wouldn't give up hope that my own idea of what being a furry is will prevail in its own little way and outlast the drama. I don't do getting all het up about those who live in other parts of the world sullying my reputation.
My reputation can stand by itself and doesn't need the fandom to speak for it. It's not like I really give two hoots about my reputation anyway, though paradoxically that in and of itself has become part of my reputation. Go figure.

So what next? Ooh, let's see. Follow  vulpinedesignsunlimited and know that one day it will have something to say that might change your fuzzy life. If like me you're serious about Freedom of Form, you'll want to know.
