Posted 9 years agoAnd another year has passed. I'm so happy EF is coming up again.
Where are you staying?
In the Estrell. :)
When will you arrive?
On friday. D: Sadly can't get there earlier. Don't have too much fun without me.
Means of transportation?
Depends. Either car or public transport.
Sharing a room with:
My wife Marie
What is your gender?
Last time I checked I was male
Relationship Status:
Married
How old are you?
26 years ... but I'm starting to feel older than I am x.x
How tall are you?
ca. 174 cm
Which languages do you speak?
German and English. I understand a bit French, but can't speak it.
Where will you be most of the time during the day?
I guess I'll be in the lobby mostly
Who will you be with?
All my friends hopefully! I'm especially looking forward to see those again that I haven't met since last EF. That includes but is not limited to

and of course the entire
crew.
What suit(s) will you have?
Duamutef, the one and only. Black jackal from ClockworkCreatures
Can I dance with you?
Sure. I honestly don't think I can dance. Doesn't stop me from trying though. xD
Can I touch you?
If you're a good friend sure, otherwise ask for permission first.
Can I talk to you?
Of course. :)
Can I hug you?
Same as with touching.
Can I take photos of you/with you?
Yes. I would be glad if you send me a link or copy to/of them.
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
Hell yeah!
Do you drink Alcohol/Smoke?
Alcohol is fine, but I don't smoke... unless I already had plenty of alcohol.
Can I give you lots of money?
If you insist.. sure.
Can we hang out?
If I enjoy your presence, sure.
Are you nice?
Mostly. I can be a bit cynical at times.
Attending any events?
Not sure yet.
How can I find you at the con?
Look out for a black jackal with heels XD
If I'm not in suit look for a guy with shoulder long dark curly hair (usually worn as chaotic ponytail).
Can we go out for a dinner?
Will you pay? :D
Are you buying art?
Pretty sure yes.
What is the best way to contact you?
Since there is a considerable amount of people how know me you can try ask around for me I guess. I'm a hermit when it comes to social media, so the chance to contact me online during the con is almost zero.
May I kidnap you to my room?
That depends on if I like / trust you and what your room has to offer. So ask me politely before you kidnap. XD
You look pretty tired, are you ok?
Probably just got out of my suit. No worries I know how to take care of myself ;P
Last time/last con/last meet/last chat we talked so much and now you forgot my name? Why???
If there is one thing that I am good at it is forgetting names and faces. Please don't be offended if I don't recognize you immediately. D:
Will you tell me your room-number and can I surprise visit you?
Maybe and nope. No surprise visits.
I have a personal question for the convention. May I ask you that?
Sure, no problem.

Your character may be a bit on the boring side. Of course, this does depend, but generally if they are scoring that low, it wouldn't hurt to 'spice them up' a bit.
6-15 Balanced Character
If your OC scored around here, then they are probably quite a well-balanced and interesting character. Those scoring in the higher end of this category may be a bit too much though.
16-25 Borderline Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu
We have a problem. You need to tone your character down. They are most likely a bit annoying to others, too.

The olde jackal hath come forth a year
Posted 14 years agoYep, it's my birthday. So now I'm legally allowed to do in the US what I've been allowed to do here since three years already XD Whoohoo! More gray hairs, the joints are crumbling and so on. But as the years go by I find more and more friends and these are the wonderful people I want to thank today.
You guys are awesome! Yes you!
You guys are awesome! Yes you!
Thank you!
Posted 14 years agoSomething I wanted to say since a long time already to certain people who make my life brighter.
Those people are
AlectorFencer and
Foxamoore.
With their art and music they inspired and impressed me many times. The pieces which they made in cooperation touch me so deep, that all of them, without exception caused my to shed tears of awe while seeing and hearing them.
I've had the luck to get to know Alector in real life and the more often we see eachother the more I see a very trusted friend in her. She is doubtlessly a very warmhearted and kind person. I'm looking forward to meet Foxamoore some day, too.
In addition I want to thank
Balaa and
Bagheera, who both make wonderful inspiring art and whose correspondences are always a pleasure to read. I've never had the pleasure to talk to so mindful und noble people before.
Finally I want to thank my beloved
Lyralion who supports me and cheers me up every day with her wonderful attitude. I love you hun <3

What a shame for my hall of fame
Posted 15 years agoAs some might know I'm using the space on my profile for a hall of fame to list my favorite artists with short comments why I like them. Unfortunately FA has a limit for the number of FA links with icon per journal / text. So I can't link all of them with their icon which I would want to do .. so .. now I'm forced to decide who gets an icon and who only gets one of those almost unreadable white links .. I like them all and I don't want to value one over the other DX
What Ashanti thinks about me
Posted 15 years agoAshanti took a challenge of a friend and created a journal saying:
Ashanti wrote:Please, only comment if we're not complete strangers ;)
Comment and I'll...
1. Tell you something I'll learn about you by looking at your FA page for 13 seconds.
2. Tell you which colour you remind me of.
3. Tell you my first memory of you.

German Lesson 12: Adjectives
Posted 15 years agoThe use of articles in German is (who would have expected that?) more complicated than in English, because they get a suffix (ending) that depends on the KNG (Kasus-Numerus-Genus) of the noun they are linked to. In addition there is a difference depending on if the noun has the defined or undefined article.
Unfortunately FA gives no proper possibility to create tables ... I hope you'll understand it nontheless.
To keep it as short as possible: For the Genitiv and Dativ the verb always gets the suffix "-en" independant of Genus and Numerus.
Example:
red - rot
The owner of the red car - Der Eigner des roten Wagens (Genitiv, Singular, Masculin)
old - alt
He gives the old lady something - Er gibt der alten Frau etwas (Dativ, Singular, Feminine)
Undefined article
=Nominativ=
M: -er ein alter Mann
F: -e eine alte Frau
N: -es ein altes Auto ("das Auto" short for "Automobil" -> car)
=Akkusativ=
M: -en einen alten Mann
F: -e eine alte Frau
N: -es ein altes Auto
Example:
Ein alter Mann (Nom., Sing., Masc.) sieht ein altes Auto (Akk., Sing., Neutr.) .
Defined article
=Nominativ=
M/F/N: -e der alte Mann, die alte Frau, das alte Auto
=Akkusativ=
M: -en den alten Mann
F: -e die alte Frau
N: -e das alte Auto
I bet it appears very confusing that most things are the same but a few aren't .. well that's how it is XD When you use an adjective indirectly then this adaption to the noun does not apply. For example when you describe something with "X is y"
the car is red - das Auto ist rot
but: the red car is red - das rote Auto ist rot ;p
The comparison is rather simple and almost like in English. It is done by adding -er to the adjective and then apply the declination like described above. In a few cases this can change a vowel of the adjective into an Umlaut. This is the case for "alt". (It rarely happens that you apply an increased adjective directly to a noun though).
old -> older - alt -> älter
The older man - der ältere Mann (Nominativ)
of the older man - des älteren Mannes (Genitiv)
He is older than her - Er ist älter als sie
What do you think is the increased form of "rot"? "roter" or "röter" ? =3
Both wrong XD color words are not comparable. Same is true for some other words were comparison makes no sense, such as pregnant and dead for example. You can't be deader than dead.
The superlativ is constructed similar, instead of -er you add -est.
old -> older -> oldest -> alt -> älter -> ältest(+ending)
the oldest man - der älteste Mann
the oldest woman - die älteste Frau
one of the oldest stories - eine der ältesten Geschichten (Genitiv)
Vocabulary
Adjectives marked with an "!" change their vowel to an Unlaut when they are increased.
old - alt!, new - neu, big - groß!, small - klein, long - lang!, short - kurz!,
funny - lustig, sad - traurig, happy - fröhlich, boring - langweilig
broken (shattered) - zerbrochen, broken (out of order) - kaputt,
diligent - fleißig, lazy - faul, bright - hell
For reasons of better pronounciation a few adjectives lose a vowel when they are declinated or compared. One of those is the word for dark -> "dunkel"
ein dunkler Mann, eine dunkle Frau, ein dunkles Ding
Es ist dunkler als ..

German Lesson 11: Irregular Verbs
Posted 15 years agoWhen you speak of irregular verbs in English, then you mean verbs whose participle (Partizip) forms are not constructed with the regular way, by addind -ed to their end. E.g.: eat - ate - eaten
German irregular verbs are even worse O_o they can range from slight differences in the conjugation up to absolute different conjugations and participles. That means: learning learning learning.
Since we haven't dealt with any other tense than the present tense (Präsens) I will only give the conjugations of some common irregular words without the participles. All irregularities are writen in bold text.
to be - sein (totally irregular)
=singular=
1. I am (I'm) - ich bin
2. you are (you're) - du bist
3. he/she/it is - er/sie/es ist
=plural=
1. we are - wir sind
2. you are - ihr seid
3. they are - sie sind
to become - werden
=singular=
1. ich werde
2. du wirst
3. er wird
=plural=
1. wir werden
2. ihr werdet
3. sie werden
to have - haben (slightly irregular)
=singular=
1. ich habe
2. du hast (with regular construction it would be "habst")
3. er hat (not habt)
=plural=
1. wir haben
2. ihr habt
3. sie haben
to give - geben
=singular=
1. ich gebe
2. du gibst
3. er gibt
=plural=
1. wir geben
2. ihr gebt
3. sie geben
to eat - essen
=singular=
1. ich esse
2. du isst ("ist" and "isst" have the same pronounciation)
3. er isst
=plural=
1. wir essen
2. ihr esst
3. sie essen
Most partially irregular verb have the irregularities at the second and third person singular
to see - sehen

1. ich sehe
2. du siehst
3. er sieht
=plural=
1. wir sehen
2. ihr seht

German Lesson 10: Days and Numbers
Posted 15 years agoThis one is plain and simple :3
Monday - Montag
Tuesday - Dienstag
Wednesday - Mittwoch
Thursday - Donnerstag

Saturday - Samstag / Sonnabend
Sunday - Sonntag
The numbers:

13. Dreizehn
14. Vierzehn
...
17. Siebzehn (! not Siebenzehn)
...
20. Zwanzig
From this point the system changes again. Between oner and tenner digit comes the German word for and "und". Here 7 is used full as "Sieben" again.
21. Einundzwanzig
22. Zweiundzwanzig
...
30. Dreizig
40. Vierzig
...
70. Siebzig
...
100. Hundert

German Lesson 9: Smalltalk
Posted 15 years agoSince the first five parts were very theoretical I decided to give you some simple sentences for small conversations in German.
E: Hello, can you help me?
G(informal): Hallo, kannst du mir helfen?
G(formal): Hallo, können sie mir helfen?
E: Of course, are you new here?
G(i): Aber sicher, bist du neu hier?
G(f): Aber sicher, sind sie neu hier?
E: Yes, I came here a day/week/month ago.
G(i/f): Ja, ich bin vor einem Tag/einer Woche/einem Monat hergekommen. (her|ge|kom|men .. sounds somewhat like hair-ga-com-man)
E: Oh, where do you come from?
G(i): Oh, wo kommst du her?
G(f): Oh, wo kommen sie her?
E: I'm from <generic place>. What did you say is your name?
G(i): Ich bin aus <generic place>. Wie sagtest du ist dein Name?
G(f): Ich bin aus <generic place>. Wie sagten sie ist ihr Name?
E: My name is <generic name A>. What is yours?
G(i): Mein Name ist <genric name A>. Wie ist deiner?
G(f): Mein Name ist <genric name A>. Wie ist ihrer?
E: I'm <generic name B>. Really nice to meet you.
G(i): Ich bin <generic name B>. Sehr erfreut dich kennenzulernen.
G(f): Ich bin <generic name B>. Sehr erfreut sie kennenzulernen.
E: Thank you, likewise.
G(i/f): Danke, ebenso.
E: Okay now give me your wallet!
G(i): Okay jetz gib mir deine Brieftasche!
G(f): Okay jetz geben sie mir ihre Brieftasche!
E: Police! Help! I'm being robbed!
G(i/f): Polizei! Hilfe! Man raubt mich aus!
Moral of the story: Rather not smalltalk with people who are coming up to you when you're in a foreign country XD

German Lesson 8: The Undefined Article
Posted 15 years agoWhen you understood the brainmelting lesson 7 this will be quite easy to understand for you. In english the undefined article is "a[n]". You only got this one. The German undefined article changes depending on Genus, Numerus and Kasus of the noun it belongs to.
Since you all are experts for Genus, Numerus and Kasus this will be done with a simple table.
Kasus | male | female | neutral
Nominativ| ein | eine | ein
Genitiv |eines | einer | eines
Dativ |einem| einer | einem
Akkusativ|einen | eine | ein
You wonder were the Numerus plays a role? Simple. Plural words get no undefined article, just like in English.
Examples:
E: A girl waits for a bus.
G: Ein Mädchen (neutral) wartet auf einen Bus (masculin).
E: A woman's purse is a mystery for men.
G: Die Handtasche einer Frau ist ein Geheimnis für Männer.
Since you all are experts for Genus, Numerus and Kasus this will be done with a simple table.
Kasus | male | female | neutral
Nominativ| ein | eine | ein
Genitiv |eines | einer | eines
Dativ |einem| einer | einem
Akkusativ|einen | eine | ein
You wonder were the Numerus plays a role? Simple. Plural words get no undefined article, just like in English.

E: A girl waits for a bus.
G: Ein Mädchen (neutral) wartet auf einen Bus (masculin).
E: A woman's purse is a mystery for men.
G: Die Handtasche einer Frau ist ein Geheimnis für Männer.
German Lesson 7: Defined Articles (Part 2) / the Four Cases
Posted 15 years agoThis lesson will very likely mess up what you thought to know about the German language after lesson 5. I told you that the English article "the" can be either "der", "die" or "das". In fact it can be a lot more different articles. Those three are the three articles of the first cases (German: "Fall" or "Kasus [lat.]", which is called "Nominativ".
The concept of cases is totally inexistant in the English language, which makes it hard to understand.
Basically there are four cases:
1. Nominativ
2. Genitiv
3. Dativ
4. Akkusativ
I've told you before, that a nouns has a gender (Genus), a number (Numerus) and now we'll add the last attribute which is its case (Kasus). The use of a noun in a sentence defines its casus.
Nominativ:
The Nominativ is the case of the sentence's subject. It can be questioned with "Who or what?". The articles you've learned in Lesson 5 are the articles of the Nominativ. The Nominative form is the normal form of a noun which you will find in dictionaries for example.
masculin -> der
feminine-> die
neutral-> das
plural -> die
Example:
E: The tree is green. Who or what is green? The tree!
G: Der Baum ist grün. Wer oder was ist grün? Der Baum!
Genitiv:
The Genetiv is the form of belonging / ownership. The Genitiv nouns of a sentence work as attributes of other nouns. It can be questioned with "Whose?".
masculin -> des
feminine -> der
neutral -> des
plural -> der
Masculin and neutral nouns get an "es" to their end or "s" if they end on a vowel, when they are in Gentiv case. When you look back to lesson 5, where I explained, how to interprete a German dictionary entry I let out the part written after the first semicolon. This part is the Genitiv ending! When your noun is a person, their name gets an "s" to the end of his name similar to the " 's " in English ( Harald's knife -> Haralds Messer).
To help your memory:
Mann, der; -[e]s, Plur. Männer; <example phrases>
-> the Genetiv ending is "-[e]s" which means you can write the genitive of "Mann" as "Manns" or "Mannes".
Example:
E: The man's leg is broken. Whose leg is broken? The man's (leg).
G: Das Bein (Nominativ) des Mannes (Genitiv) ist gebrochen. Wessen Bein ist gebrochen? Das Bein des Mannes. (You see, that you can only question the Gentiv noun indirectly with the thing it refers to)
E: The woman's leg is broken. Whose leg is broken? The woman's (leg).
G: Das Bein (Nominativ) der Frau (Genitiv, equal to Nominativ, because it's a feminine word) ist gebrochen. Wssen Bein ist gebrochen? Das Bein der Frau.
Dativ & Akkusativ
]Dativ and Akkusativ are two possible cases of a sentence's object. The Dativ object is the object that is effected by the action, specified in the predicate. The Akkusativ object is the target of the action / the one that is used. You can question the Dativ object with "Whom or what?".
Now we reach a point were the English language epically fails to differentiate .. because .. you can question the Akkusativ object with "Who or what?" .. yes you see right that's exactly the same like for the Nominativ ..in English. In German "who" can be two different question words. First is for the Nominative "wer" and second for the Akkusativ "wen". Fortunately it's easy to identify the subject of a sentence and since the subject is the only noun in Nominativ you don't have to worry if another noun is in Nominativ or Akkusativ.
Dativ:
masculin -> dem
feminine ->der
neutral ->dem
plural -> den
Akkusativ
masculin -> den
feminine -> die
neutral -> das
plural -> die
Example:
E: He swings the baseball bat at the ball.
Who or what does he swing? The baseball bat.
At whom or what does he swing it? At the ball.
G: Er schwingt de Baseballschläger nach dem Ball.
Wen oder was schwingt er? Den Baseballschläger.
Nach wem oder was schwingt er? Dem Ball.
I think you realized now how much more complicated the German language is compared to English XP
Exercise:
Pick one of the following English sentences and copy it. Then write behind each noun which case it would have in a German sentence (Nominativ, Genitiv, Dativ or Akkusativ). Use www.leo.org to find translations for the nouns and write down the nouns with their matching article for the case they have. Use www.duden.de when you're unsure about the word gender or Genitiv ending (enter word and press "suchen" button).
1. The car drives down the lane to Peter's house.
2. The guy buys Judy the drink she wanted.
3. The consumption of alcohol by minors is forbidden by the state.

German Lesson 6: Basic Sentence Structure
Posted 15 years agoGerman sentence structure is basically equal to English S-P-O:
Subject (Subjekt) - Predicate (Prädikat) - Object[s] (Objekt[e]).
Example:
E: I am a furry.
G: Ich bin ein Furry.
Simple so far, but the German language has a distinctly higher variability about how to add additional information, like time, place or modal structures into a sentence.
In English you put the information about time and place at the begining or end of a sentence while you can put them inbetween the three basic sentence parts in German.
Example:
E: At 10 o'clock we meet Peter at the lake.
G: Um 10 Uhr treffen wir Peter am See.
G: Wir treffen Peter um 10 Uhr am See.
G: Peter treffen wir um 10 Uhr am See.
All sentences mean the same, but the word order is changed to put certain things into the focus of the sentance. In the first example the focus is on the time, in the second on the speaker himself and in the last example sentence the focus is on the person they're going to meet.
I don't want to go into the depths of that topic yet.
Depending on the type of sentence the sentence structure varies.
Statement / w-Question sentence: S-P-O
Example:
E: He is nice.
G: Er ist nett.
E: Who is nice?
G: Wer ist nett?
Demand / decisive question sentence: P-S-O
E: Give me that!
G: Gib mir das! (Here is much to explain, but another time xD )
E: Do you come tomorrow?
G: Kommst du morgen?
Subordinate clause: (S)-O-P
E: He says, that he comes with her.
G: Er sagt, dass er mit ihr kommt.
Subject (Subjekt) - Predicate (Prädikat) - Object[s] (Objekt[e]).
Example:
E: I am a furry.
G: Ich bin ein Furry.

German Lesson 5: Nouns and Defined Articles (Part 1)
Posted 15 years agoAlright boys and girls, sit down and pay attention, please.
The English language knows exactly one definded article. A word you should know, because it's the most used word of English language. You guessed right, it's "the".
As usual we Germans don't do it that easy. Why easy when you can have it thrice as complicated. The German language knows three defined articles. Those are:
der (masculine)
die (feminine and has nothing to do with dying ;3)
das (neutral)
Why so much effort you'll ask? Because every German noun (Nomen/Substantiv) has a gender, called Genus. This Gender doesn't necessarily match the actual gender of an object, which means unliving objects can be masculin or feminine, too. There is no general rule, by which you can define the Genus of a noun. You can only learn them together with the noun.
There are a few regularities which can help you. For example all words that end on "-heit" or "-keit" are feminine.
liberty / freedom - die Freiheit
unity - die Einigkeit
independance / liberty - die Unabhängigkeit
cowardice - die Feigheit
As you can see, German nouns always begin with a capital letter.
The article you use with a noun depends on its Genus and its Numerus (singular or plural). Plural nouns require the article "die".
Nouns change depending on their Numerus. In English this usually happens by adding a multiple "s" (e.g. Kid -> Kids). Sadly, in German it's not that easy.
There is a rule for making the plural form of nouns, which applies to estimately 70% of all nouns. For the 30% percent there is only learning, learning and learning.
The rule is as following:
The plural form of masculine and neutral nouns is formed by adding "-e" to their end. The plural form of feminine nouns is formed by adding "-en" to their end, or "-n" if they already end on "-e".
Other possible forms are:
-Masculine and neutral nouns can end on "-e","-(e)n" or "-(e)r"
-Feminine nouns can end on "-e"
-Masculine and neutral nouns that end on -el, -en, -er, -lein or -chen stay
unchanged in their plural form
In some cases it occours that a vowel can turn into an Umlaut in the plural form of a word (Learning, learning, learning .. I know it sucks).
Words that are addapted from English (German assimilates more and more English words every day, much to the dismay of German language protectors) often keep their original plural form with "-s".
Examples:
(Several of them do not fall under the 70% rule)
man, men - der Mann, die Männer
woman, women - die Frau, die Frauen
child, children - das Kind, die Kinder
head, heads - der Kopf, die Köpfe
body, bodies - der Körper, die Körper
tail, tails - der Schwanz, die Schwänze (Caution, Germans use that word for wang :P )
shirt, shirts - das Shirt, die Shirts / das Hemd, die Hemden
thing, things - das Ding, die Dinge
To give you help with learning German vocabulary on your own with a dictionary I'll show you how you can find a words gender and their plural form.
Hil|fe, die; -, -n; <example phrases>
Mann, der; -[e]s, Plur. Männer; <example phrases>
The | implies the split between two sylables, after the word itself is written the according article, from which you can see the word gender. The part after the first semicolon is not important yet. I'll write about that later (very complicated stuff coming!). The ending after the semicolon tells you which ending the word gets in its plural form. When the plural form is irregelur as in example 2 the whole form is given.
