Hey, so... I didn't know FA was gonna make a massive, radical change like this. I knew updates were coming, but this is pretty extreme.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's an option to use the old FA layout, like how Deviantart lets us use the site's older look? I really don't like overly dark pages with light text, it kinda hurts my eyes to look at.

Hey guys!

So in case anyone's interested, I've got a bunch of stuff to sort through. Work stuff, physiotherapy stuff, insurance stuff etc.

Doing better than I was a couple days ago, btw, on all those fronts. After an interview with a major UK company, I've been hired to do basically my dream job in graphic design. My injury is apparently responding quite well to treatment (the physiotherapist says he's not used to people actually doing the exercises they're told to). Plus, the BMW-jerk's insurance company has agreed to a settlement so I'm gonna get paid out of that. The downside is that, as expected, it's not enough to actually pay for a whole new car. My Beetle was pretty old, with 85,000 miles on the clock, so it's not surprising. I'm gonna have to work that out somehow, but it'll be sorted eventually.

I've also decided to start planning ahead and doing art schedules. Over the next few days I'll be trickling things in from Patreon, but first I looked at my current rota and worked out the kinds of times I can spend on arts, and how much I can get done in the time allotted, so here's what I've got planned for Patreon posts if anyone's interested:

Monday 4th:
Gonna do three kinky sketches, including one of Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel. After the sketches are up, there'll be a patreon poll as to which ones folks would like to see finished first, the results of which will be posted on Friday 8th. Also will try to get the Summoner pic finished by end of day, with luck.

Tuesday 5th:
Definitely going to do a full rendered $10 art on this day, gonna get started in the morning and likely finish in the evening.

Wednesday 6th:
I got a full day off, which means real focus on arts. However many sketches I get done in the day, plus finishing off some older arts. Gonna get started on that Wonder Woman/Giganta comic I talked about and wrote a spec script for a while back. Not going to post the pages until all have been sketched up though.

Friday 8th:
Another full day off. As mentioned, gonna post the $5 art as voted on by poll. May end up making more sketches and some rough coloured/shaded work as well ^u^

So that's the game plan--lots to do, but luckily, lots of time to do them in, which is nice :D

...so turns out I have whiplash. Unfortunately the crash also exacerbated a previous martial arts injury from years back when I tore the muscle in my neck, which explains why I've been having ever-increasing pain and muscular spasms (which is sort of funny when serving customers and my head keeps twitching). Don't worry, it's not that bad this time, but there's a lot of swelling in that area and I'm gonna have to take it easy for a while. I can't do a lot of the martial arts or workouts I had been doing. That sucks.

On the plus side, it should apparently heal up eventually, I've been directed to my old physiotherapist Dave, and he does wonders. Also, Voltatol does bloody WONDERS, mate, I swear! Any time I use that stuff, it's a massive relief. Can't use it a lot though, apparently, so I'll have to be careful and track how I'm using it.

Also, I'm still in the midst of sorting out car insurance crap, which apparently could take the better part of the next month or two to finally get sorted. Meanwhile I'm car-less, so relying on buses and trams again. That also sucks.

I miss Charlie, dangit....

I'm just trying to draw the sketch of a new comic. Unfortunately I'm trying to draw Knockout, and his design is SO HARD for me to do. It's those dang shoulder pad things made of his front bumper, along with some of the intricacies of his robot mode. Makes balancing out both his physique and actually putting him into poses incredibly difficult ;^;

I wish I had someone around who knew how to do this who could help coach me on drawing Transformers. So often, I just can't get them right at all. It's part of the reason I haven't done it in a while.

I always swore I'd never become one of those people who names their car and attributes personality to them. "It's a box on wheels" I said, "It's just a vehicle!" I said.

It's weird what we get attached to though, isn't it?

Well here it is. Yesterday, my loyal and fun little Volkswagen Beetle, which my sister and I affectionately called Charlie the Chillmobile, has died. I was on a roundabout and some jackass in a BMW decided to shoot out of his lane in our direction while we had right of way, smashing into the side of the car, killing Charlie.

To make it worse, they tried driving off, but they ended up doing too much damage to themselves to do so. Still, we've got the insurance info, and it's been confirmed Mr BMW was at fault, so his insurance will pay me, and I don't have to claim from mine.

Still, it's pretty depressing. I've had Charlie for a year and a half, and I wasn't planning on getting rid of it any time soon. It was my first car, so I'm somewhat attached. Don't know what kind of car I'll get next, but it'll have to be soon. It's almost certainly going to cost more to get a new car than the insurance payout too, ugh...

In any case, thought I'd make this little tribute to Charlie. Not sure if I'll make a 'finished' version.

So long, buddy...

Recently, I've been transferred from my regular job to a new place which is much further away, or be at risk at full redundancy. I had five days to prepare to move jobs. This despite all assurances less than two weeks earlier that my job was pretty much the most secure one of all, and I wasn't where the problem lay. So now I'm getting used to a new environment and getting up way earlier in a morning. It's also cutting me off (for the most part) from my martial arts hobby, and putting my chances of grading further at risk.

Yesterday a bunch of crap stuff happened all at the same time seemingly just to make me feel more annoyed. For one, we got a cold caller--not unusual, I know, but this guy just wouldn't piss off when told like most of them do. He kept pushing and pushing and pushing, and when I hung up on them, they had the gall to call back! EIGHTEEN TIMES!!! Each with a different number!!! D:
So I decided to block it, only I couldn't remember the password for my phone security, so all the while the phone's ringing again and again until I disconnect it. It takes me four hours to get in contact with my provider.

In the midst of all that--same day--my dishwasher decides to break down. Oh, and guess what--the freaking warranty expired. Four days ago. Yeah, so now I gotta get a new one. What's worse is it's custom, specifically designed to fit with the bespoke kitchen I saved up for and spent quite a bit of money on for once... >->
So now I gotta buy a new dishwasher on top of everything else, which doesn't help my already wobbly financial situation.

Some more personal issues occurred which I won't go into, but sufficed to say I've not exactly felt inspired lately. Thankfully I've always got this place, and you people, to return to. Honestly, it's a joy to have FA. I know I say this a lot, but you guys just being there helps so much more than you know.

Just thought I'd say a genuine thank you to the nice folks who have been commenting and engaging with my gallery recently. I put up a journal last time asking if people pay much mind to them, and I got a surprising amount of responses to it. Beyond that, though, I've also been having more comments and the like on submissions recently.

Honestly, those help me a lot with knowing what's popular and generally well-liked, and where I should focus on. So I wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate your letting me know stuff ^u^

I especially like when it takes the form of a critique, someone who can let me know the ups and downs of my art or writing. If there's something you think I could be doing better, please do let me know, I appreciate any help other artists could give me :3

I really wish FA had some kind of counter on journals to see if they're worth writing. I occasionally get a comment or two which shows at least they read it, but otherwise there's no indication as to whether I'm wasting my time on journals.

So... do you guys read 'em or should I start updating people on stuff exclusively through art from now on?

So for some time, I somewhat lost motivation to draw much. I think this happens to artists every once-in-a-while. Not sure what it was, but I'd touch pencil to paper or pen to screen, and either nothing would come out or what did wasn't very good. I didn't really want to talk about it. It felt like kind of a lousy excuse, because nothing was really wrong. Just, I couldn't draw.

Luckily I'm out of that now, I'm back to regular posts on Patreon (7 in the last two days) including Patreon-exclusive stuff, and I'm even updating this gallery C:

I would like to know from you guys, have you gone through that kind of phase? And, what pulls you out of it, if anything you can pinpoint?

For some reason where I am, the router isn't letting me upload anything here aside from journals. Not sure why, it just doesn't wanna load. With luck it'll be sorted out soon.

Yeah as I thought, it was just the banner, nothing else. Apparently porn's fine to make on the site if it's behind a pay wall... even though technically the guidelines kinda-sorta imply they could take down accounts any second who make them but whatevs.

I'm still up on Patreon and the guy I talked to about it was super-friendly and understanding about it, which is great :D

OK, so I have gone through the message sent by one of the Patreon moderators. Apparently, it was my banner which was the problem. Now, I thought it was fine since you couldn't see explicit ass, genital or breast shots. However, I believe the problem was that one shot had a tiny bit of butt crack peeking up from the very bottom right corner. It also implied she wasn't wearing anything to cover her boobs, but again you don't actually see anything explicit there either.

However, it is sorta my bad, since despite cutting out nudity almost entirely, according to the guidelines it's my responsibility not to have ANY implied sexual act, nudity or anything from the front or behind anywhere on something publicly displayed. So, for now, I've taken that banner down and will be altering it to add a bra strap and undies onto the vixen-lady in the corner. With luck, that'll straighten out any issue Patreon has with my banner which has been up for months without anybody's head exploding or some such.

I tried to find any actual post which was public and pornographic, but from what I can tell, everything's behind a pay wall, and only 18+ people (or folks pretending to be 18+, which I would have no possible way of knowing and really that'd be THEIR fault, not mine) can see my sexy smuttiness on that site.

MY HAND IS FREEEEE!!!

Hey guys, so I'm finally healed properly for the most part. Still some physiotherapy to get through before it's all back to normal, but there's no longer a limitation on how much I'm allowed to use my hand or draw. Catch-up's under way, colour illustrations are getting worked on and more new stuff's getting done after that.

Thanks again for all those who have stuck with me through this time. I really do appreciate it, and the messages of wishing me well. I promise not to let you guys down!

New art's a-comin'!!

OK, I know I made a post about this not that long ago, but I only got back that others wondered the same thing I did, are "shinies" safe? It's been weeks since they got introduced, which should be enough time to see whether Paypal is truly planning on closing/blocking accounts from people from furaffinity. I want to know whether it's actually happened at all, whether anyone's actually faced consequences for using them.

If they are demonstrably safe and don't lead to anyone losing their paypal, that's great and I may well end up using them. As is, I'm quite nervous about it still.

If anyone knows for sure, let me know, it'd be a weight off knowing it's either safe or not.

OK, so it's been 8 days since the accident during martial arts that busted (didn't break, luckily) my hand, and at last the swelling in has gone down somewhat and I have a more mobility than before, way ahead of when the doc said it'd be. It's still in a brace, and the tendons are still strained and in need of rest, so I won't be doing multiple posts per day as I had been before the accident for a while.

Still, sketches are officially coming back to my Patreon, followed 10 days later on here. Inks aren't too far behind that, and full renders will return soon after. Thanks again to those who stuck by me, it really does mean a lot ^u^

Huzzah!!! So, I had the appointment with my doctor, got an x-ray and my hand's NOT broken. Not a huge surprise, but definitely a relief. Not entirely sure when I'll be back to creating artwork, likely it'll take about 5 weeks to fully heal. Whether I'll be able to draw before then is up in the air, which sucks REALLY bad.

Nonetheless I'll be back eventually and will work VERY hard to continue work on art and make up for lost time when my hand is ready.

So, in an accident during martial arts, I have ended up with an injury to my right hand. The doctor I went to said it's likely not to be broken, but there's extreme swelling and bruising and I cannot move three of my fingers properly. Seeing as how that's the hand I draw with and I can't even grip the Wacom pen properly, it's gonna bit the kibosh on art until it's healed up and I can take this brace off. I'm not entirely sure how long that's going to be, but I hope it's going to be soon.

I really hate to do this to you guys, I'm extremely grateful for everyone here who's supported me so far. There's a bunch of projects currently up in the air, some things I've not tried so far... just, it's really annoying that it's going to take so long to get to now. I'll update you in a couple of days to let you know how serious this is.

I've heard a lot of people talking about this over the last few days. People were excited when this donation option became available, however Paypal is infamous in the furry community for kicking people off the site, taking any and all ability to make money there away, because those people make furry art or NSFW stuff.

I just wanna know, in spite of FA's assurances this isn't the case, has anyone actually been banned as a direct result of using shinies? From what I can tell, people are worried about it, but nobody's been sanctioned for being furries because of shinies just yet.

Anyone know if this is the case? It really seems like a great alternative or supplement to things like Patreon, if it's not a backdoor way of finding furries and getting their Paypal accounts blocked.

Okay, so this is gonna be about Patreon, so if you don't wanna hear about that, then I understand.

That said, the past couple months have simultaneously been kinda great in that regard, but also... sorta not? In one sense, I'm really happy to have any Patrons at all, and for the past two months there have been a few lovely and loyal people who have stayed with me since I really started focusing on that, which is greatly appreciated. I don't want to undersell how much I appreciate people who have contributed.

Buuuut then there's the flip-side. Towards the end of last month, between a quater and a third (not sure exactly) suddenly dropped their patronage with no explanation. I thought that they maybe thought I wasn't good enough, maybe they weren't happy with my output, something like that. However, apparently it's a fairly common practice for people to jump onto somebody's Patreon page with a contribution, stay with it for just under a month, then just before the actual payment day comes, drop out, having gotten almost an entire month's worth of bonuses and perks free, leaving me with nothing. Today, a few more have decided to do exactly that, yet again.

This is just scummy. It's unfair. It's a downright crappy way to treat someone just trying to share art and get a small, pretty reasonable amount back in return. It says to me that these people don't think I deserve anything for the hard work and time I've put into making the best art I can. It makes me feel kinda like crap for falling for it every time.

Maybe it was naive of me not to even consider this as a possibility, that people would take advantage of a system like that, use it to get what they want for a while and then leave without paying anything for things I really worked at. But hey, that's a lesson to me I suppose.

Look, I don't want to be overall negative. I'm not all that popular an artist and I was thankful to the few who were able and willing to contribute for things I poured my heart and soul into. And admittedly, it's a minority of people who did this. You guys probably noticed how my output has dramatically increased since I started doing this, both in quality and quantity. Knowing people are willing to help me out, keep me going like this, it's been a real motivator.

I just wish there weren't those bad apples spoiling this.

Yeah, decided "F*** it" and set it up anyway. Gonna start putting things up there at the same time as it goes up here on FA. Some backlog's going there too, not sure how far back to go
