so I have decided to switch transport companies for shipping out of Europe and might even continue to use this shipping company to transport out of the Netherlands. So what is this about? well the dutch transport company (PostNL) transfers parcels to partners for out of Netherlands transports and lately it causes a series of huge delays specially to America.

So, I started to look else where for parcels. Together that PostNL no longer wants to ship Lithium technology batteries I decided to switch to DHL. In costs it will not change much and it offers the advantage to having one transport company for most of the world. It makes easier customs deceleration and faster delivery time. All current made orders will still be shipped via PostNL, only newly made orders will be shipped via DHL for out of europe.

Eurofurence was great, better then expected and the sells went trough the roof. We are expected to have a good amount of orders after Eurofurence and I will work my best to get those done as quickly as possible. For those who already had a order before Eurofurence, your order will be completed the next two weeks before I start on the orders for Eurofurence. For those who want to order after Eurofurence, I do not know how long the cue will be. So please keep in mind that the shipping time might be longer then two weeks depending on when you order.


Other news, besides that Eurofurence gave boost in more then one ways. There are some new products coming up I have been working on for some time. First up:
-LED collars, not electro-luminance wire. EL products have advantages but can't change colour. So I have been working on RGB LEDs in collars. These collars will house a micro-controller. The LEDs can be programmed individually making a wide variety of different programs. The whole set will be powered by a Lithium polymer battery that is chargeable by micro USB. So far only one prototype is made and the prototype program is entering the optimization phase.
Currently I am working on designing the case and making the electronic components smaller. I expect the final version to roll out in about 3 to 4 months from now.

- Laser engraved badges. This project is still in the start up phase. For now I am looking for artist to help with line art for the engraver. The start would be simple with leather badges engraved with a drawing of your choice. The engraving will be made by an external company to start with. Stay tuned for more information later on.

Dutchcollar is going to eurofurence this year. We stand at the dealers den with new show models and sell the access stock of last years.

well it has been a month now since dutchcollar is offically VAT and chamber of commerce registrated and I am about done implimenting the changes that it brought. I will make a small list since it will change something in the pricing of the orders and the way the orders are places.

From now on all orders incluse 21% VAT as by Dutchlaw. All european private customers will pay the VAT however Companies with a VAT number and non EU private costumers will not have to pay VAT. The prices will be given as XX€ incl VAT exl shipping.

the process of ordering will also be a bit diffrent. When an order is placed the costumer will recieve a proforma invoice with the nessasairy details on it to pay. the order will be processed after paying. once done the final invoice will be printed and send of. All invoices will be in PDF form and a bill of shipping is included in every shipped order. Once shipped a track and trace code will be emailed to the costumer with photos of the finished result.

Another change is copyright on the produced work. For simple collars there is no copyright in place however for more complex custom collars Dutchcollar will remain copyrights. Meaning that without premission it is not allowed to use the photos as reference by any other collar maker. I hope you can understand as I spent a lot of time in designing collars and resources in making sure I can make them.

Next to all these changes new designs will also be comming up, the most notable is that from now on i can paint the edges of the leather in a variaty of collours. Painted edges can give the collar an extra touch by highlighting the edge or make it more eligant by hiding the edge.

For the past days I have been updating the dutchcollar site. Solving DNS issues and adding a new Domain name.
Now on the site you can find a detailed price list with pictures of what you can expect for the price. Also added are Terms of Service, Return and shipping policy and Privacy policy for using the site.

Also I have opened up a web shop on Etsy for some standard models of collars. Etsy accepts credit card, Paypal and some other payment methods. I will currently work on making some more models to make for a web shop.

We will also start on a webshop that runs on a separate server. This webshop will be used to sell standard collars and accessories. For custom orders you can still reach us per email and notes on the various art sites.

trough i work with in europe i do have some negative side effects of this;
depending on what shipping company my suppliers took i will have huge delays in getting some of my materials.

so in the final run for EF where dutchcollar will have an table in the dealers den i am finishing some important things.

- colour references:
for example i have cataloged what colour leather i have currently in stock, together with the yarn i have. go to http://dutchcollar.com/en/links.html to see all the colours currently in stock. trough the stock is not complete i want to get 4-5 more leather colours on stock and 2 yarn colours. when i have a new colour on stock i will update the references. do keep in mind that the references are only indication. screen settings, environment lighting en camera distortion influence the colour on screen.

- new hardware:
thanks to a tip of someone and some detective work on the internet i now found a shop where i can get hardware in funky new colours. thing of blue, red, green etc. currently i am working on getting the hardware in a catalog and trying to order something (keep in mind that the hardware comes from the states so i need to pay customs cost and shipping. so the price for this hardware will be higher until i found a good shop in europe).

- dutchcollar order form:
after two days of work dutchcollar got an google docs based order form. this makes it easier to process the more standard orders. if you are interested in a commission you can fill this form out and we contact you asap. it cuts down time in processing the commission. how ever, the special orders or unique items will not be done trough any type of form.

Hello watchers!
we have a news update from dutchcollar what is happening. and their is a number of things that is going on at the moment.

first up is the pilot project we are running. (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9679699/)
we are still in the start of it, still trying to get all details worked out before we start producing work like this.
what is it? you may ask, well its stitched line art. together with two artists we will be offering custom stitch works on A5, A4 or A3 size leather for as little as 25 euro!

second thing is still in the works, dutchcollar is coming to EF 19 if lucky. when the registration is opened we going to register for EF 19 and for the dealers den. for now we know for sure that  betrayedcover is going -or at least trying to get registered in time- you will hear from us when we know for sure we will be standing in the dealers den.

sadly we haven't been able to finish the site in time, previous weekend was the deadline but their is a lot other work that consumes time so the deadline was not met. we hope the site to be up with in 2 weeks.
what will also come with the new site is a new TOS, it will be updated. for now all orders will be made along the old TOS with an addition towards redesigns and cancellation

dutchcollar haven't been active for the past 2 weeks because of a major design change in the site itself.
dutchcollar will have another style and better and smoother running coding.
we are currently working around the clock to get the new site up and running for the public to see.

now the time has come for the site to be updated thus from today (5-1-2013) 18:00 GMT+1 the site will be closed down for maintenance. expected we expect the site to be up again at 13 januari.

from next week 21-juli till round and about 4 weeks after dutchcollar goes on holiday.
this means there will be no new works made, but all entries for the contest will still be checked and so far as anyone wants to make a commission that time;
we will reply for you and give you information about it, then when we are back we can go ahead and make the wanted commission.

The idea is simple: we give you the chance to design your own collar and if you win you get it for free! How about that? Sounding nice?

now before you go ahead i might point you to a few facts that i will account for in your design. a lot is possible but there are limitations as followed;

1, i will look if you have added the collar dimensions (preferably in centimeter or millimeter)
2, i will look if the collar has proper sizing. If it’s too wide that means the leather is not comfortable around the neck. If it’s too thin that means i can't work on the leather with the machines or the leather isn’t strength enough to support itself. min size for single strap is 20 mm and for dual straps 25 mm
3. crazy decorations are alright, but if you use something you have not seen before on dutchcollar please link the webshop where you found them. also keep in mind the amount of decorations you use and the type. some decorations like the steampunk onces come with a screw. this means i need 5 mm working space to the side else i can't stitch the collar and the lining together.
4. type of leather is important. fancy colours you like might not be available or the leather type is not suited for collar makeing.
5. stitching, i can only order stitching in some colours, just like the leather. this is because i use high grade stitching, which is not available in every colour. (i use pure nylon stitching, while normal shops use nylon-cotton)

here are some basic rules on commissions and warranty.

commissions:
I can at all times refuse commissions that are ether to hard at the giving time (you got to know your limits) or which i get unconverted with. by example child size BDSM gear or gear with spikes mounted to the insides. also by dutch law i can not make any type of leather gloves with sharp spikes that are above 20 mm. there for i only go to 30 mm spikes on collars and cuffs and 11,5 mm bold tip on gloves and belts. secondly when the que is full you might have to wait some time. remember i am also studying and i do not get around to make the commissions every day. so have patience, also i do not take/cancel commissions of commissioners that aim to insult me or threaten me. if you are unsatisfied with any of the given services please do that on a polite way.

warranty:

all leather works come with a full 2 year warranty covering wear and tear damage dude to bad quality of material or stitching.
this warranty does not cover anything else, any damage that is user side or caused by improper handling. there for i can not give any warranty against water damage. leather gets ruined when it's wet and not protected against that. so to insure max live time of your leathers works treat it with an water/dirt repellent .
to the inside of your leather works will be a serial number pressed into the leather. this serial number is registered by me and together with your customer information it keeps track of your collar.

if you choice to ship your collar with out insurance and the collar get's lost i will not refund the costs of your collar, when it happens you can buy a duplicate for a reduced cost, but more not. remember that when you choice for uninsured shipping.
