AC or Awesome Con 2012

I don't think I've ever had that much fun in such a short period of time! I had a big, stupid grin across my face for pretty much the entire weekend and I don't think there was a period of time that I spent where I wasn't totally enjoying myself. Whether it was dancing on stage, sitting around drawing in the zoo, doing my yearly summer swim or just grabbing a bite to eat, everything I had the chance to do was great because of the awesome people I was with.

Everyone I had talked to/followed online were all INCREDIBLE and even some of my favorite artists of all time were nice enough to draw a few doodles that I will hold onto forever! I got to meet so many interesting people from all over the place, make new friends and make some absolutely wonderful memories I will cherish forever.

The hardest part of course was leaving and I definitely teared up hugging all my new (in real life and maybe on here too now?) friends goodbye at all the different parts Sunday, but thankfully I haven't gotten PCD yet. I do regret not getting a chance to hang out some people more, but hopefully I will see them soon again.

So, thank you to everybody who made this weekend amazing for letting me eat, drink, dance and be marry with you!

1. How did you discover this fandom?

I think I realized it was a "thing" when I joined deviantart back in middle school.


2. Did you participate as soon as you could, or did you "lurk" for a while? If so, how long?

I jumped in when I was younger and tried to make friends with everyone on /deviantart/aim. If I followed you around back then, I'm so, so sorry. If i could go back in time, I'd probably punch myself in the gut.


3. What was your first contact with another furry in person?

 sleepyface and I met back in middle school through a mutual friend and I realized he drew cartoon animal people too and thought he was the coolest. He, the mutual friend (who drew non-furry) and I then were always drawing and challenging each other to draw outside of class, but they were always miles ahead of me throughout high school. We all kinda formed a group that would sit and draw before school and would support each other on dA.


4. What is you level of involvement with the community? Do you do draw [edit: oops, unfinished question! I was supposed to ask "Do you draw, write, build costumes, participate in forums, etc.?]

Through middle school and high school, I was active on deviantart, but I was always trying to do more "fine art things" that were slightly furry tinged. After high school, I met  WolfYama through facebook, and he got me into FA freshman year of college. I kinda dropped off after getting the account after a few months, and focused on school work and getting a job till I went to FC this year which got me back into it. I feel like I'm actually starting to get into the community more and I couldn't be happier about it! Everyone on here has been so nice and it's been a really great thing, so thank you all!


5. Did you like anthropomorphic animals before you found out about the fandom?

Yep! I was raised on Disney, Animorphs and Digimon/Poke'mon.


6. Did you begin creative activity (drawing, painting, writing, music, etc.) or greatly increase your creative activity after finding the fandom?

I did alot more artwork which lead me into classes which lead into college which lead into work which has lead back into it now. It' all one big circle.


7. Counting both online and offline interactions, do you spend more leisure time with furries, or with friends not involved in the fandom?

More with friends that aren't involved in the fandom. I don't know too many people in real life in the fandom, but I'm slowly making some really great new friends though the fandom and I'm always excited to meet new people.

As a sort of practice and fun way to get me to do some more artwork, I'm taking 4 slots for free badges/icon/headshots. They will be very similar to this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7650828/. I will ask that there is some sort of reference I can draw off of too. Just leave a comment below and I'ill do a random drawing for the 4 slots.

If you get one and note me your address, I'ill print and send it out to you in time for AC with a clip! They will unfortunately will NOT be laminated, but I will print them on nice paper/card stock and try to keep them from bending.

Hey everyone!

I just finally got back and all settled in after FWA. It was only the second con I've ever been to (third if you're counting comic conventions too) and really the only time I've ever participated in, but I had such a wonderful and eye opening experience.

I had such a blast hanging with a few of my old friends and making a buncha of new ones! I was in the art show and luckily sold a good number of my pieces off to some wonderful people and the volunteers for the show were all extremely helpful and friendly.

The real highlight of the whole trip was seeing the dance competition on Saturday night and the rave afterwards. I used to think that I could dance pretty well, but god damn, did I get showed up on several occasions. I'm actually considering buying a partial suit for next year and trying to be in the dance competition, but we'ill have to see how that goes...

Thank you so much to everyone who let me hang/eat/drink/live with them and a huge thanks to all the people who were kind enough to purchase something!

Hello everyone!

I just wanna say Thank you SO so much for such a warm welcome to FA!

I've never had a watch list, comment or favorite list that was EVER this big! I'm so humbled and surprised by how welcoming everyone has been. I also want to give a big thanks for everyone who came over from my boyfriend's account  WolfYama.
