Im gonna be moving everything over there. Eddie-ka just isnt a nickname ive used in years, nor is it a sona name.
Feralfacade is where i'll keep doing fursuit updates and all that and im hoping to be more steady with at least making premades for now
Back years ago when I pretty much fell off the face of the earth, I was dealing for some pretty severe depression, making me unable to do anything. Im sure it wasnt helped by being in the closet, in denial about being gay even. Now im a big ol proud lesbian lol.
But these days im in a much much better mental place and I want to do things I used to love, namely making costumes. For now its just premades, and I am considering doing commissions down there road, but this time with help from my roomate. Anyone who commissioned me before can probably tell you I was crap at communication, and most of that came from out of control anxiety about emails. Shes going to be handling alot of that and other stuff to help things go smoother. (she likes the business-y numbers-y bits).
But I dont want to promise to much to fast either way. Overfilling a queue and making myself sick with stress is something I never want to do again. Weve been talking about ways to make things go smoother.

Want you opinions on a project.
Posted 5 years agoIm working on a toony head for funsies, with the challenge to use only supplies I have laying around so that I stop having such a big horde. But now im realizing the only fleece I have on hand is white. With the colors I had picked, I really want a yellow and/or a purple fleece. Should I just break the challenge and go buy fleece (which im not sure I can do with everything closed) OR should I just dye/paint the white.
I know, its out of the blue, ive just been really inspired by some beautiful toony suits and wanted to give it a try.

Taking Fursuit Head and Partial Commissions!
Posted 8 years agoIts finally time! Im opening up 2-3 slots for fursuit commissions. I say 2-3 because it will depend on the complexity of the suits, how much room I will have. (example being if a character has 6 colors that minimum 6 yards of fur I have to make room for, even if its just a head)

To get in the queue a 30% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit must be made. this goes into supplies for the suit and is spent very quickly so that production can start. if you back out you will not get this back, you will only get anything over the 30% after your suit is sold off in auction. (it will be altered so that im not selling your character)
(If for any reason I become unable to finish a suit due to my personal life, the deposit will be refunded as well as any other payments. This does not include if I decide to end communications for issues such as harassment or stalking from the client)
When getting a quote, please tell me which parts you want (head, hands,feet, tail) and for glove and feet how far up the arms and legs. Please note that I am not taking fullsuits right now due to space

As mentioned in a previous journal, I will now be using fleece/foam for most features instead of casting parts (not including the head base and teeth/claws). If you want, for example, horns to be cast plastic instead of fleece, they will be more expensive then the fleece. Especially if its a mold I will never be able to use again. But im also open to looking at alternative materials such as EVA foam, Bondo, and Warbla. So feel free to discuss options.

Posted 8 years agoThe dragon head I was working on is done and ready for photos, I just have to dig my photo taking mannequin out of the garage and its 105 out sooo im gonna do that later when theres not a threat of heatstroke.
So in the meantime im going to be typing up the new commission sheet details. Im changing a few things to help workflow and im changing some things just so there are more options. I plan on posting the commission sheet tomorrow and opening 2-3 spots. Base price for a 1-2 color head will be 800. So if youre interested start getting your ref sheet and everything ready!
About some of the changes. One change is that aside from the actual head base and teeth, I will be using fleece instead of cast materials. So paw pads, horns, scales, and tongues will be fleece unless otherwise specified by the client. There will be an increase in cost for anything cast, especially if its a really specific design that will only be used for this one character.
The reason for this change is because before, I was not charging anywhere close to enough for the amount of work of sculpting, molding and casting pieces. So oftentimes I would essentially be making complex parts for for no profit. And looking back im finding that I think fleece parts look just as good as plastic/silicone in most cases and is cheaper, faster/easier to work, lighter for the wearer, and oftentimes safer and sturdier. Im even playing with some techniques to make fleece look like plastic (these are still in experiment mode though). Other options can be discussed on a case by case basis using other techniques and materials such as EVA foam or worbla.

Making a mask for the first time in forever
Posted 8 years agoIm working on a fursuit head to try and get back into suits. It will be an auction head, pretty much to get back in the swing of things and figure out the best setup/organize for my room to make this work. Once thats done I will most likely be opening for a couple slots, assuming all goes well. For now I will only be making partials, I just dont have the room for making fullsuits (DTDs take up alot of room)

Not a great video and you can see how nervous (and sleepy) they all are. The blond girl in the blue box is the most nervous and needs alot of trust training. She appears to be partially blind, i think she might be ruby eyed but i havent been able to check her close because shes really defensive right now.
Ive given them new names. The hairless is Freya, the grey is Eiko, and the blond is Beatrix.
So far only Freya seems to have a upper respiratory infection and not a bad one, so shes been started on the medication and the others are still being monitored.
Apparently the poor girls had been through hell before my friend got a hold of them. They had been in a hamster cage and then shoved in a box in the back of a uhaul and driven from Washington to southern California :<
So im honestly surprised they are in as good condition as they are.
I was going to move them to half of my critter nation cage after quarantine and meds are done, but I think I will leave them in the rat manor for a while longer them that. I hate cleaning that cage, BUT they super need some stability in their environment for a while. I'll deal with the cage being a pain in the butt if it mean they will feel more secure.
So thanks again to everyone that came to the stream!

To commission me I'll need you to email me with ref and/or a description of the character you want. After that I can get you a quote for the price of the doll. (this doesnt include shipping cost). Price will vary depending on complexity of the character in terms of markings and the amount of parts needed, such as extra arms/heads/tails and things like that. But the average range will fall in the 350-500.
The dolls size will vary depending on design and pose, but they will average 14x12x6 (not counting long posable tails)
If the price works for you and you want to move forward with the commission then I will need a 30% non-refundable deposit to claim your spot. This money goes towards buying the supplies for the doll, so if you decided to cancel you will not get the deposit back.
I only use Paypal for payments, so I'll send you an invoice with that. Sorry but I cannot accept any other forms of payment.
Once I finish the doll, the rest of the payment and the shipping must be paid within the next month. If it is not, I will alter and sell the doll in auction.

Posted 8 years agoSince Ive had a few people asking, tomorrow I plan to sit down and write out commission info for my dolls. So if you're are interested in a doll start getting your ref sheets and examples together. The rough prices will be about 350-500 depending on complexity. It could go out of this range if its got lots of extra parts. Like a 5 headed 7 tailed winged bull is gonna be alot more expensive then a plain white wolf purely from a material cost. (....actually that bull sounds kinda awesome. >> maybe i'll make that later)

Digital Art commissions
Posted 8 years agoI just posted pricing for digital art in the commission tab. Right now its pretty much a place holder while I get more examples of actual furry art to set up a proper ad and pricing. (its mostly fanart right now) So check that out if you are interested in me doing a drawing for you.
Also once I have some commissions I will probably stream, and even when I dont I'll probably stream some adopts or even just doodles. I might even later today, but ive still got a bit of a cough so I might hold off till later.

New house (and a question about auction sites)
Posted 8 years agoGot my room mostly set up. I had to do some computer repairs after moving. My power supply has been dying and I guess the move just finished it off. But obviously, ive got my computer running again. (my sisters husband luckily just happened to have an extra supply laying around, so i didnt have to buy a new one). Unfortunately during the move I seem to have come down with something, cold or flu, so it will be a few days before I can actually start working. Luckily it doesnt seem to be to bad (knock on wood)
So ive got all my stuff out of storage and to clear out some space im gonna sell off at least one, maybe two suits. Im selling the owlbear costume (it needs slight repairs, so if you dont mind doing some touchups and are looking for a plus size suit, keep and eye out) and maybe my coyote suit. That one im still debating because shes become so sentimental at this point.
But anyway, What site do you guess find is best for auctioning off suits. Furbuy, Ebay, or one i had suggested to me was Dealers Den.
So ive got all my stuff out of storage and to clear out some space im gonna sell off at least one, maybe two suits. Im selling the owlbear costume (it needs slight repairs, so if you dont mind doing some touchups and are looking for a plus size suit, keep and eye out) and maybe my coyote suit. That one im still debating because shes become so sentimental at this point.

Posted 9 years agoHey there all! Im looking for some interesting stuff for inspiration for designs. I'd love for any suggestions you guys have on really striking and unusual animals. Things you feel dont get enough attention and love. Birds, fish, reptiles with really cool markings in particular.
Or heck we can go outside of animals too. Is there a stone/rock/crystal you think looks cool? Anything you think would be cool to use in a design.
Im trying to sketch out some designs. Im actually moving soon and will have an actual bedroom again (I havent for the past year or so). So im hopeful this means I will have space to work on my sculpting again. Dolls most likely. Possibly auction masks, but im not making any promises there until im able to really see how I can set up.
(Related to that, does anyone have suggestions for sites that sell fur fabric. I dont want to use Distinctive Fabrics again after all the troubles theyve given me, unless i have no other choice.)

Distinctive Fabrics security issues??
Posted 9 years agoSo i just got an email from DF that was someone ELSES order confirmation.
Meaning they just sent me an email that has someone elses name, phone number, and address on it.
Ive already contacted this person and they are calling DF to figure out what happened but this makes me really uneasy about ordering from DF. Cause my info could easily end up in someone elses hands. So im just putting this warning out there for anyone else that uses distinctive fabrics.
cause this isn't just a simple email mix up. My email is erika[at]matthewjensen.com and no one but people in my family use the matthewjensen.com part. So something is screwing up in their system

Ok so apparently talking to their customer service was like talking to a wall and they were trying to deny what was going on.
So yeah. I think both me and this other person are kinda done with this distinctive fabrics, cause we've both had other issues with them before. So yeah i'd be SUPER wary if you try ordering from them.

Posted 9 years agoSo in light of FA recent security bull, im gonna be looking into moving sites. Im not sure which i'll be using yet, so after I figure that out i'll make another journal.
Also, everyone should be paid off now and i just have the armsleeves to work on, and I got my sewing machine and fabric out of storage, so i can work on those.
But yeah i'll update more later, but im tired of FAs constant issues, so I think its time to drop this site before things get even worse :/

Surprising(good) change of plans?
Posted 9 years agoSo after discussing some things with my dad on the current living arrangement, it seems I actually will be able to continue making suits.

Posted 9 years agoHavent been on here in a while and im sorry about that, just havent had any work to share or anything. I do need to update you guys on whats going on with me.
I didnt really want to go to far into personal stuff, but its only fair to you guys, especially those who had pending commissions.
Basically the roomate situation completely fell through for a number of reasons, including the landlord increasing our rent for several hundred dollars and removing the program that helped low income renters. So I had no choice but to move back in with with dad. Ive been sleeping on his couch for the past couple months.
Ive been attempting to search for a job the whole time and havent even been called for an interview yet.
I know I have a couple people who had commissions that I wasnt able to finish before I had to move. Originally I was going to be able to finish those since the plan had been to stay in my old apartment where I had space to work.
I do plan to refund all of you as soon as I can, but right now I have no money to do so. As soon as I DO get a job that first paycheck will mostly go to that.
I am horribly sorry that I haven't been able to complete those or refund everyone sooner.
I could possibly open drawing commissions? I do still have access to my tablet and I have a Picarto so i could even stream for you guys.
Though Im not sure how I feel about taking commissions to refund other commissions..... that seems.....I dunno it doesn't quite feel right, but im running out of options and this is at least something I know I can do.
Ive done one or two drawing commissions for food money but aside from that not much.
I'd like to know your opinions and interest in that. If that seems ok with everyone then I can go ahead and set up examples and such for that.

Update about the future of my work
Posted 10 years agoSo due to some changes in plans that ended up happening suddenly, there are gonna be quite a few changes. Im not going to have access to a studio space soon, and in February I have to move houses. Roommate situation is up in the air so there are alot of unknown variables going on with that. Lots of personal stuff that I wont go into.
But the important part that you guys need to know is that after I finish the costume commissions I already have, i most likely wont be taking anymore. I might still do rare auction designs or take on one small commission at a time, but most likely there wont be many suits from me.
Ive been working on designs for smaller projects I can do in my limited space. Plushie, small sculptures, and things like that. I will be looking for a more 'normal' job, since that will make it easier for me to get a place when I need to move. So my other art projects will be dictated by my schedule.
I'll also try and do more digital art and shirt designs and the like. But big fullsuit commissions? Just not happening anymore unfortunately.
I will be selling off some old suits of mine so i can clear space. Any that might need repairs will be going for super cheap. So if you dont mind the little bit of work, that might be an option for you

Posted 10 years agoJust letting everyone know that yes, im ok and still working. I just havent been going on FA or DA very much. Trying to keep myself away from certain negative sites to try and help stress levels.

Im gonna send out quotes to people that want in the queue and from there I will pick who will get the spots. So the more complete your email is the better chance you have to get in the queue. You only need to fill in what needed for your suit. for example if you just getting and head and paws that go to the elbow you would only need head measurements, glove size, wrist, elbow and length of arm to elbow. If you have a fullsuit you need all of these and a Duct Tape Dummy.
I do take international orders, but please be aware that shipping is expensive and in some countries there is an added customs fee which can be quite large, you are responsible for all those fees

Some updates and SUMMER QUEUE CLOSED
Posted 11 years ago So I have posted a new journal since...January I think. Since then Ive moved houses and am no longer living with my dad. Also at one point my computer kinda...broke?? I had to install a new OS and try and save everything off my old harddrive (which i did so thankfully nothing was lost except programs). I also just got a new phone that is a decent smart phone with WORKING APPS (glares hard at my windows phone)and an actual decent data plan. So im planning on setting up a tumblr so that I can post updates more often and more easily there. I'll post a link as soon as I get that going. I will also work on getting the finished pic of the suits ive been doing uploaded.

SUMMER QUEUE INFO
To get in the queue a 30% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit must be made. this goes into supplies for the suit and is spent very quickly so that production can start. if you back out you will not get this back, you will only get anything over the 30% after your suit is sold off in auction. (it will be altered so that im not selling your character)
When getting a quote, please tell me which parts you want (head, hands,feet, tail, fullsuit?) and for glove and feet how far up the arms and legs.

See you at Further Confusion!
Posted 12 years agoMe and a couple friends are gonna be at further confusion. This will be their first furry convention. (yay for turning your friends into furries!) I be wearing my coyote again (her bodysuit and ears have seen some touch ups since last year). I might also bring my demon vulture suit from haunt, but im debating that since she's a little bit beat up in places. Haunt is a very physical event, bodys end up bruised, suits end up damaged. I will be hanging with an owl and raver fox/wolf. Man i just relised i dont have pictures of the vulture,owl or raver wolf/fox suits. I need to get better about getting pics of personal suits XD.
