A Very Furry Halloween [26-28th Oct, Melbourne]
Posted 13 years agoCome one come all for a very tantalising event, a very spooky weekend, A Very Furry Halloween! This new annual meet has a plethora of awesome activities for you to enjoy, from a dinner at Sofia's, dance party and a coffee meet, as well as a Melbourne Furs art meet [though on a sunday this time] with all the awesome plans and people involved it's sure to be fantastic. The only thing it's missing at this point is you.
Bare in mind that the Dinner event and Dance party are two different tickets, and while it is possible to buy a dance party ticket on the day [+$5 if purchased at the door], it /Isn't/ possible to buy a ticket for the dinner on the night, as we require numbers for catering.
So come out and make this weekend one to remember, as well as meeting some furs from out of state and making friends before MiDFur.

I know i've been a little neglectful of the old girl, but i'm doing a few pieces so i'll be uploading some things soon and trying to put meets and MiDFur things on here. In the mean time, y'know, keep doing what you're doing ^~^;;
[MiDFur] Registrations
Posted 13 years agoAfter the amazing influx of attendees booking rooms for MiDFur 2012 in the course of two days after the previous convention we’ve been hard at work getting an overflow venue organised as well as preparing registrations for the coming MiDFur.
We now have the website registrations ready to go and they will be on sale from today at 5pm AEDT.
To register, simply head to www.midfur.com.au and follow the link on the homepage.
Standard registration will be $135 for the full five days, however if you purchase before the 13th of March you will receive the discounted rate of $120.
Sponsor registration will be available for $175; which will include the sponsor T-Shirt as well as priority seating.
Super Sponsor registration will be available for $260; on top of all the benefits that Sponsors receive, super sponsors also receive higher priority seating, a meet and greet dinner with the Guests of Honour and a Gala Dinner.
Dealers’ passes will be available for the 5th to the 7th of December [the middle three days of the convention] and will be released for sale in the coming months.

Posted 13 years agoWith only ONE week to go til MiDFur the 13th, this is our final call for Volunteers.
We are looking for people interested in volunteering at MiDFur, in particular, on
Wednesday to help us meet minimum staffing requirements.
As a special thank you to our volunteers, all volunteers will receive a limited
edition print of a piece of art work done by our Guest of Honour, Tani DaReal as
well as going into the draw for another more.... prominent piece [no spoilers].
Every volunteer will go into the draw to win this piece of art work, with one entry
per day volunteered given at the end of your shift; the more days you
volunteer the more chances you have for a large one of a kind piece from Tani.
All those already involved are in the draw, and will receive their ticket upon

Posted 14 years agoHey guys; i've been noticing i've been a little grumpy of late and I think this is because of a couple of things; after recent events and quitting my last job [where I was underpaid, respected and acknowledged] I've been finding it difficult to score a job that doesn't want me to sell my soul for minimum wage. Mounting stress as well as heartache get compounded when people criticise me for no comprehensible purpose or ask me stupid questions which I've already clearly explained if they bother to read any of what I write.
That and my crippling drug addiction! amirite? No seriously though, i've got clinical depression which through my teens was held in check by a compound known in australia as Efexor XR; it administers serotonine directly into your system so it can be absorbed by your brain or sommat? Anywho; never bothered with the psychobabble, but they got to the point where they were giving me doses of 225 mg; which, aside from being expensive as fuck is 75mg over the real suggested limit [let's just say if I didn't want to be a productive member of society I could go as far as getting myself a sweet dole check or institutionalised] And, over the last couple of months i've been reducing it so that I can be free of chemicals, i'm currently on 37.5mg [1/6th of previous dose] which may be why i'm snippier and more lethargic [though my short term memory is kicking ass right now]. Anyway; this is a major life change and I don't know what sort of person i'm going to be on the other side, I'm trying my hardest to maintain a chipper demeanour and be helpful; but there's a lot of stuff going on right now. It's one of the first big things I want to change [the first being living in dubbo, then meds, steady job, appropriate diet and exercise, and mayhaps one day serving in the army] But I appreciate your patience and understanding while I try to adjust.

Seeeew, another picnic thing for lack of planning and better suggestions... well there's that Ice skating thing, but there's not enough time for most people to prepare. So basically we're meeting at the picnic area at the northmost corner of the flagstaff gardens where the play equipment is [12pm], enjoying a nice lunch and then going into the queen vic markets to explore, splitting up is fine, because concentrated amounts of furries seem to set normals off. We then return to the garden [by 3pm] where one of our snap happy cohorts will hopefully oblige in lending us a camera for a new group photo.

Seeeew, another picnic thing for lack of planning and better suggestions... well there's that Ice skating thing, but there's not enough time for most people to prepare. So basically we're meeting at the picnic area at the northmost corner of the flagstaff gardens where the play equipment is [12pm], enjoying a nice lunch and then going into the queen vic markets to explore, splitting up is fine, because concentrated amounts of furries seem to set normals off. We then return to the garden [by 3pm] where one of our snap happy cohorts will hopefully oblige in lending us a camera for a new group photo.

I did a bit of research [see; google top 10 coffee melbourne >.> <.<] and it looks like Pellegrini's is the most suitable for our needs, it's close to public transport, good food and prices and adequate seating, as this is a coffee place i'd like us to be on our best [see; Inside voicing...est?] behaviour, though seeing as this is a coffee meet It may not appeal to the louder furs amongst us. Alrighty then, I'm trialing a new cycle for the meets, namely sundays, starting next week. I understand that a lot of you are used to the Saturdays being the meet and are happy enough with it, but i've been getting feedback that other furs would like to attend, but can't because they work every Saturday, the majority that I asked were avaialble both days. So in order to try and accomodate the largest number of furs the date will be temporarily moved to this coming Sunday, and every fortnight from then; Sunday sessions shouldn't be affected as the groups usually disband around five, and may even encourage larger attendance from furs that are already in the area.
As ever any feedback is welcome, we love to hear from you guys and I hope we can all make the fandom in Melbourne the best it can be.
Now onto less srs business; Holy sh** guys, we had over 30 different attendees cycling through the food court during the day with the largest swarm of furries at one time being about 31; tremendous turnout and I hope we grow from there. Also this Sunday is Crimson "The otter stalker"'s birthday and I hope you all do your best to wish him a happy birthday and maybe draw him something or get him birthday cupcakes

Well here we are again, I know I know it can get a little repetitive being in the same spot all the time, but the weather has been too temperamental of late and the public transport to Central is bitchin'. Aaaanywho, Last meet was a fantastic turnout and I'd love to see those numbers hold steady if not expand. This coming meet we'll also have the pleasure of hosting for a fantastic artist from cockatoo that i've convinced to come into the city, she's a lovely girl and I expect you'll all make her feel welcome.
