Posted 7 months agoThis is my first announcement as Fleet Commander and Squadron Leader of the Furry Pilot Fleet, even though I have held this position for many years now. But I come here on an important mission.
I took over this Squadron and Fleet during a difficult time for us, which left us slowly dying out. Since that time, we have maintained a small level of activity with new CMDR's coming and going over time, but overall, we've been in a lull for a long time. However, recently, there has been a massive comeback to the overall Elite Dangerous community and playerbase, and with that we are also seeing more new active members join than any other time during my command. I've been inspired to take action, to bring us back to what we once were, to breathe life back into our community. Thus, I'm returning to our roots here on FA and other places to begin our renewed recruitment effort and bring more interested furry CMDRs into our family.
I would like to add that we are entirely Independent and do not get involved with Powerplay. We also do not restrict our members from joining other Squadrons. If you do not want to be in our Squadron, you can still be a member of our Fleet in our Discord Server. We also welcome any members of other Squadrons that wish to be ambassadors as allies and partners, especially other furry Squadrons.
With the new Trailblazers update, I have launched an effort to expand our Player Faction to new regions of the galaxy, and it is already in motion and seeing success. There is much more to do with this, so there is much to help out with on this project.
With our return, we are also going to be looking for CMDRs who would be willing to get involved with BGS operations, as we are in need of a team of dedicated members to help maintain our Player Faction and coordinate its expansion into new places. This team will need leadership as well, as I myself may not have the time needed to invest in running it, so I will be looking for motivated and invested CMDRs to step up and assist with this. This position will report to me directly.
With our growth, I would like to also get our members more involved within the game and provide activities in which we will be able to bond and have fun with each other in the game. We will need members who would be able to coordinate and assist with creating and hosting these activities, and depending on the level of interest, may also become a new position in our Squadron Management Team.
As we grow, we will also be looking for new moderators to help us with running the Fleet's Discord Server, as well as helping to manage the Squadron in game. This position is second to myself, and thus will be held to the highest expectations. Long time members will have priority in the running for this position, and new positions will only open as I see the need for additional assistance.

This will be my last announcement.
It has all started almost 4 years ago, right here. I created the profile and left it sitting for 2 months, before a CMDR
Kovax Votu motivated me to do something with it. So I did, and I searched for every single CMDR I could find on FA, to generate interest.
Only 5 months later, CMDR Nyxsis, the original owner of the Discord server, agreed on cooperating with us. From this day on we started to expand more and more, and soon became the great fleet that we are.
Now I could go on and dwell more on the history of this fleet. But most of you were involved with the rest of it anyway.
I put my heart and soul into creating and developing this fleet. I spend day and night on having all you guys satisfied, to be the best furry fleet that we ever could be.
And here is where I stepped into a conflict with myself. I just can't do it anymore.
I can't enjoy this game anymore. To me personally, it has gone wrong in so many ways where it should've been right. I can't hold it in a good light anymore.
It deeply saddens me it has come this way. If I can't enjoy the game any more, how would I be able to make it enjoyable to you? How can I be a leader of something, for which I don't feel any reason to involve myself with any more?
It's been a long time since I've been fighting with myself, most notably since the Gnosis Scandal 9 months ago. This is when I've finally tipped over and lost my faith. I think those who know well about my activity here, took good notice of it.
But that's not to deny we had good times, too. Some of the earliest members here know about the old good times we had. When all of this was all about fun, chat and banter. It has been a very personal journey for me. I have evolved in many ways during those past 3 years. Most notably I've become very confident in myself, started to believe into my achievements. And I wanted you all to believe in yourselves too.
I really loved being here, and taking care of all of this.
During the time of this fleet, I went through a physically tough job, which I hated, where my boss committed wage theft on me. I have been in the hospital about 5 times for surgeries and painful inspections. I have lost three of my family members just last year.
And yet, during all of this, I felt no effort being wasted on taking care of you guys. I loved doing this. I loved being here.
You made me feel appreciated.
Thank you, all of you, who believed into me. You, who wanted this fleet to succeed. You, who helped us push further. You, who gave me shit for wrong decisions. You, who made this fleet become as great as it ever could be.
I will now step down from my position.
Both
basekillerwolf and jamesthefurryfox will receive the admin role.
Ownership of the discord server will be transfered to James.
It was a very tough decision to make, since I see both Base and James as very competent for the job. Both have solid ideas about their leadership and plans for the future. Though I felt like since James has been here since November 2017 with a steady activity, he gains the right over the server as a whole. It is just a pinch more right over the other, though a meaningful one.
They can both do and edit everything. Though James is now in posession of the nuke button. If Thargoids attack, blame him.
The KarnBlueEarring PG will not be deleted, though it will be unmoderated from now on, since I will deinstall the game.
James and Base both receive access to the Elite Dangerous FA Account, the Steam Group and every piece of documentation and spreadsheets I've did.
Once James joined the Squadron on Inara, he'll be made the Squadron Commander.
Base will be made the Deputy Squadron Commander.
I will remain a regular member from now on. So there's no goodbye.
But hopefully there is a new beginning for all of us.

You may not have noticed, and I doubt you'll notice even with the following knowledge, but at the moment this message was sent, 180 members have been kicked from our Discord server, due to inactivity. This server went from 348 to 168 members. That's 51,7% gone.
I did not make an announcement before, intentionally, in order to not mess with the results of the statistics.
I ruled them out by these factors:
- No activity in more than 365 days, no matter the amount of messages.
- No activity in more than 90 days, if less than 100 messages.
This is still a very mild filter, mind you. There are still a good chunk of users, who are considerably inactive.
I might filter it down more strictly in following analysis.
Exceptions have been made to a very small amount of CMDRs, who proved to be essential to the creation and expansion of this fleet in the past.
No one has been kicked from the PG, which has over 450 Members.
No one has been banned.
Anyone is welcome to rejoin on demand. Though I will do a more thorough inspection then, asking for gaming profiles of proper mileage (e.g. date of creation, hours on games, achievements).
You may all continue with your daily routine now.
Thank you for your attention, and more importantly your friendly presence on this server.

We're proud to announce that finally, after 1 year and 4 months since we started this project, our own minor faction, the Astrobiology Research Cooperative, has been implemented into the game, claiming Segon as its home system!
All our collective effort and struggle over the time was a full success, as we got the system of our highest priority! I am very thankful to everyone who helped and stayed with us during the hardest of times, believing into the success of this project. I could've never done this without all of you.
When I created the fleet, I honestly didn't believe into the success it would have today. With more than 350 members today, it has blown my expectations out of proportions, multiple (multiple, multiple) times. No matter how overwhelming it might have been at first, I kept on going, kept on supporting this fleet.
I am lucky to have such generous and downright good people in my fleet, who assist me alongside others out of their spare time, keeping me on sane grounds. Without them, it could'nt have gone anywhere.
So thank you, all of you. No matter how big or small your contribution to the fleet, no matter how recently you joined, you are a part of it. You give it value.
You made this happen.

Since we have submitted our player group and player faction to Frontier, we've been eagerly waiting for their official response.
For those unaware, our player group was registered as "Furry Pilot Fleet". We seek to have a minor faction implemented into the game, which will be called "Astrobiology Research Cooperative".
I'm excited to tell you, that we've finally been recognized and our group will get worked on this week!

This fleet was originally created on Furaffinity in January 2016 (accounting for the first journal I made). I would have never expected to have our group grow this much! We're at 168 members now! I am very grateful for everyone who joined our fleet!
Therefore I suggest that we should represent ourselves some more, besides amongst or own. A logo would be a good way to start, it's long overdue!
Our official player group name was submitted to Frontier as "Furry Pilot Fleet" (still no confirmation though), so we'll stick with that.
Now let's dicuss what the logo should look like. If you are creatively gifted, you're also welcome to submit your ideas as sketches! Afterwards we'll work together to polish it up to something more professional looking.
So do you guys have any ideas? How do we add "Furry" subtly but recognizeable into a space pilot's badge?

Become a faction in Colonia! - 33021224

As you may have already heard, some CMDRs of our fleet have been discussing the possibility of becoming a faction and migrating towards Colonia; the new settlement for mankind in our galaxy, far away from conflict.
- First and foremost we are in need for a representive name.
We have come together as a fleet of diverse species, to fight, trade and explore conjointly. We are defined by every single member and no one less. Seeing this, we have to highlight what makes us who we are; not as one or two species, traits or habits, but all of them.
Additionally, "Union" or "United" should ideally be a part of the name, which leads to our goverment being a confederacy.
- Only after this has been discussed and properly been agreed upon, we need to know how many CMDRs are able and willing to deliver "Galactic Travel Guides" towards Colonia, 22,000ly out from Sol.
-- If you can't make the trip, but you want to contribute: Buy and collect "Galactic Travel Guides" and drop them off for our CMDRs, so we carry more value for one trip to Colonia. This way our chances for becoming a part of Colonia GREATLY increases.
Last but not least, we have kind of a dead-line, which is when next months migration begins. Only 3 factions can make it.
So start discussing and help Furries set a mark on the galaxy!

As you may have already heard, some CMDRs of our fleet have been discussing the possibility of becoming a faction and migrating towards Colonia; the new settlement for mankind in our galaxy, far away from conflict.
- First and foremost we are in need for a representive name.
We have come together as a fleet of diverse species, to fight, trade and explore conjointly. We are defined by every single member and no one less. Seeing this, we have to highlight what makes us who we are; not as one or two species, traits or habits, but all of them.
Additionally, "Union" or "United" should ideally be a part of the name, which leads to our goverment being a confederacy.
- Only after this has been discussed and properly been agreed upon, we need to know how many CMDRs are able and willing to deliver "Galactic Travel Guides" towards Colonia, 22,000ly out from Sol.
-- If you can't make the trip, but you want to contribute: Buy and collect "Galactic Travel Guides" and drop them off for our CMDRs, so we carry more value for one trip to Colonia. This way our chances for becoming a part of Colonia GREATLY increases.
Last but not least, we have kind of a dead-line, which is when next months migration begins. Only 3 factions can make it.
So start discussing and help Furries set a mark on the galaxy!

Thanks to your help, this group has been doing well and grown to a mentionable size. It seems about the right time to expand to other services as well, so we are able to discover more Furries cruising through space.
This is the reason for the following announcement:
