It's a stupid holiday which doesn't belong here in Italy yet every year more and more dumb people dress up like idiots. What the heck, wasn't Carnival enough?
Semel in anno licet insanire... not twice!
What do I do to protest? When children come to my door and ask for "Dolcetto o scherzetto?" I give them some Dolcetto. Which happens to be a wine, too.
Rant over.

Posted 15 years agoToday, the 20th of September, is the 140th anniversary of the conquer of Rome. By who? The Italians. Wait, WFT?
On the 17th of March 1861 the Kingdom of Italy was born. But it only was the north and the south of the nowadays Italy. The center was still a separate state, under the Pope.
This very day in 1870 Rome was finally caught, after the Italian soldiers demolished Porta Pia (Pious Door, of the of the many doors in Rome's walls). Soon afterwards Rome became the capital of Italy (previously, the capital was in Turin).
The pope auto-exiled himself in Vatican, which became a separate state in 1929 when Mussolini signed a Concordat with the Pope. http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:L.....ebruary_24.jpg
This caused the Pope to declare the "non expedit" which I suppose you don't care about but that you can google if you want to know more.
All this to say that my grand-grand-grandfather was there, in Rome, 140 years ago, fighting for Italy

Tomorrow morning I have a "prerequisites test" that I have to do before I can actually go to the university, so I'm going to my new, internet-less home. But fear not, A technician is on the way to fix it by Friday!
So see you later this week everyone (unless I get to crack some weakly protected wifi!)
P.S. Sizebooru, e621... will this crisis hit FA as well? Let's hope it doesn't!

The man on the other side of the phone asked me, with a Sicilian accent
"Have you seen the spot advertising the new plan, on TV?" ( this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWrUUUN-UcY )
"Er... yes I have but I didn't understand about the new plan" (it's not very clear...)
"Ehh ok, no problem, between you and me, it happens that us men just look at the hot chick in the spot and don't think about the product being advertised..."
O.o "heh... yeah, probably it's what happened..."
Luckily in the world there's still serious people like this guy

Goodbye mountains
Posted 15 years agoI'm writing from my friend's computer... till he's in another room...
These three days in the mountains have been awesome, and awesomely... fresh!
Home is at 1529 meters on sea level, and we've been to 2150.
Back to my usual 180 then... back to city, traffic, pollution and... heat. Penguins don't like heat. No no.

Posted 15 years agoThere truly is no way I can describe how bad I'm feeling right now. 17 hours to my oral, and feels like I never studied anything. Wait, that's exactly what I did! Not studying!

Diaries of an exam: Paper one
Posted 15 years agoToday I took the first out of four papers of Maturità, the high school final exam.
Today the paper was an essay.
Two historical ones, a literary one, one about music and one, titled "Are we alone?"
Yep, UFOs. Guess which one I did? :-P Looks like watching Esocast finally gave its results.
I ws the first to finish, took me 4 hours out of a total of 6. While I'm writing this, many of the other 500,693 taking the test today throughout the country are still writing, and they still have an hour to go, but very few use all of their time (and get out alive)
Edit: On this very day, more than 7 million A4 sheets have been used for this very exam

I've bought the tickets back in January, and tomorrow I'll give a meaning to all this waiting. Well actually I shouldn0t have bought tickets... I suppose I'll stand outside the stadium and loom over everyone.
