Post Art Fight 2024 Hiatus and More
Posted a year agoWith Art Fight 2024 now being officially over, I'm going to be taking a break and recover before jumping back into the art game. Despite missing the first week of the event, I still did okay with an intense month of scribbling and colouring! Looking forward to participating again next year.
In the meantime, I've got a few art projects in store I need to take care of - one being a bird feeder I'm going to build for this winter! Been a while since I did woodworking (I'm more for sewing honestly) but it's going to be fun taking a more hands-on approach with my creativity. I will, of course, continue to draw personal art as well.
Once these projects have been settled I plan on doing a test run for wing-it commissions. Since this is bit of an experiment, I've decided to limit these kinds of commissions to previous commissioners only. This is for my own comfort.
If it turns out well I might do another batch of wing-it commissions, but making them accessible to everyone.
Regular commissions will return in the future as well.
That should summarize what to expect in the time ahead. So with that, I'm off to recharge!

Potential 'wing-it' commissions
Posted a year agoAs the title says, I've been thinking about doing 'wing-it' commissions. I simply feel more motivated when I can work on a drawing from start to finish, as I do with my personal art, and then move on to the next idea.
Naturally, if I want to apply this to commissions it means most communication and allowing corrections (exception for big misses on a character's design) will get cut from the process. On the plus side, I can complete a commission much faster while still working from the form system I'm currently using.
Still, if clearly communicated from the beginning, it would allow for the brave commissioner to help me explore this as an option. I'm also willing to drop my prices a bit to make it more fair.
Any thoughts on this?

Thoughts on Attending NordicFuzzCon 2024
Posted a year agoHaving kept my furry hobby strictly online, last weekend I took my first steps into the offline part of the fandom by attending NordicFuzzCon 2024. With this experience being new to me I felt like writing down my thoughts, mostly for my own sake but I'm sure there are others out there who also are curious what attending a furry convention might be like. So let's see where this goes!
Stepping into the convention space was like walking into the fandom I've come to know online, only this was far from anything digital (except for the protogens mayhaps) and with a unique atmosphere. The closest comparison I can think of is the warmth you get from a room lit by a burning fireplace mixed with the feel of a living art gallery. My point is, it was a very welcoming and awe striking first impression, if a little crowded!
Seeing fursuits for the first time was also amazing! Always been curious to see them in real life, so I can scratch that of the bucket list now. So many different styles and creatures, my earlier point of the convention feeling like a living art gallery was more than just a figurative one! Even caught a glimpse of the convention's annual maid café where fursuiters dressed in maid outfits serve the customers. Super adorable!
Fursuits in all their glory, the convention had so much more to offer, from a schedule rich in activities and panels to the dealer's den and drawing corner. I've previously come across a quote going "The furry fandom is what you make it to be" and I feel that strikes very true here. Whether you're interested in art, food, board games or just want to hang out with other furries I felt there was something for everyone!
On a more personal note, first day of attendance was quite the overwhelming experience, especially since I'm not good in large crowds by default. Absolutely didn't help I've been more or less isolating myself for almost 4 years, but that was also a bit of the point in attending - breaking free from a bad habit. Having gone with a friend would've made the situation much easier, so if you're a first time con-goer, if you can, bring a friend if you're a bit shy or don't feel too comfortable in large crowds of people!
Second day was a lot better, mostly because the events I participated in were outdoors - the events being the convention fursuit photography followed by the fursuit parade. Darting from spot to spot to get pictures and videos with similar minded attendees was fun, especially when we tried to get ahead of the parade and set up at a good spot! We all had the same thing in mind, so it was great to have this silent cooperation between each other. Met some cool people in the process as well!
Socially I feel like I didn't do too well, but, as mentioned, isolation and problems with large crowds put me at a disadvantage from the get go. Even though the second day was much better, I still stayed in the periphery of things. Regardless, I did my best and still feel that the overall experience was great and ultimately I did have fun!
So was the experience worth it? Yes.
Do I plan to return next year? Absolutely!
Will I listen to my own advice and bring a friend? Hopefully!

Am I ever going to design myself a fursona? Find out as I share my thoughts during the next blue moon!

Eye issues
Posted 2 years agoAs of about a week before Christmas, my vision started to get worse for my left eye. I was sick at the time so thought maybe that had something to do with it. As I got better from the sickness, my vision remained bad.
Decided to have my optician look into the matter (pun intended) to find out the lens of my left eye was cloudy. I'm currently being remitted to see an eye doctor to further investigate what's up.
That said, it's very difficult to draw with my left eye getting tired after just an hour of work, which to me is barely past the sketch part of a drawing. In order to avoid putting needless strain on my eye, I keep it closed for the most part, using only my right eye. This can, however, introduce other issues if I'm not careful.
Needless to say, it's a very frustrating situation and not at all how I wanted 2023 to start, but from what I've been told it can be fixed. So for now, commissions won't open until I can see properly with my left eye again. Personal art will come at a slower rate as well.
Can't wait to draw at my regular pace again - got so many ideas drifting in my head that I want to get on digital canvas!
Also, there may or may not be a patreon in the works...

Less activity in the time ahead
Posted 3 years agoToday, after months of fighting a stubborn cancer, my old friend and pet cat Flisan passed away. I am of course devastated to see her go, but also glad to have been part of the journey that was her life. You will be missed, little Madam Gråtass!
It will take time to process the loss - it's a first for me losing a pet I've raised from baby kitten to its senior years. There's a lot of new feelings and thoughts..
I'll still be around. Art will come slow, if at all, and my ability to converse will vary. With time, things will be okay again!

Quick update
Posted 4 years agoThrowing a heads up out there:
I will open for commissions somewhere around mid-August, provided there's not another heat wave happening.
Until then, I'll be catching up on personal drawings and whatnot.

Summer commissions
Posted 5 years agoOn June 15th I will open for commissions. Until then, it would be wise for anyone interested in a commission to fill out the form found in my Terms of Service, also while reading through the Terms of Service.
It will be first come first serve - the rest will be put on queue (unless they change their mind and don't want a commission).
Normally I have 3 slots open per batch, but only 2 will be available since the third is reserved for a longer job I've already accepted. Once the batch of 2 commissions are done I will move on to the next 2 in queue.
If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Wish list and summer plans
Posted 5 years agoHey, hi, how's it going? Back with another one of these bits of text and curious writings! Hope you're all doing well despite the ongoing isolation and whatnot!
It's funny how I say I was going to post regular updates and then don't, like the derp I am!
Birthday wish list
In a week yes! May 18th is the date and I turn 27 no less! Been wondering if I should be posting some sort of art wish list here, but then I realized I've already received the best gift possible - your support! <3 Instead, my wish list is going to be a little different..
The wish list
> That you all remain healthy and for this covid-19 situation to be done and over with!
> That you (yes you reading this!) go muster your courage and tell your favourite artist/artists how much you love their art! Doesn't have to be the longest of comments, why a simple "I really like what you draw" or "Love your style!" will do just fine, promise! If there's anything we artists will never get tired of hearing is people telling us how much they enjoy what we do - it warms our hearts every time!
> That I listen to my point above and go tell artists I watch how much I like their work! Yes.. well.. socially I'm not very brave.. I resort to checking the profiles of artists I like frequently, but I never leave a follow or like their art. Regardless, I will do my best to, at the very least, let one artist I like know I love their art!
And that's it! I still welcome gifts of other kinds but the ones I've listed above are what I really wish for!
What about them plans over yonder?
Sharp eyes there! With my semester coming to a close in about a month I will be left with quite a lot of time. Albeit I am looking to find some kind of work to do over the summer, I am also eager to continue taking on commissions. So far the experience has been fun and I've met a lot of friendly faces in the process! And like I said before, hearing how much a commissioner love the art they receive is a big extra reward! I also get to work with new ideas, which is also refreshing.
Being realistic however, I don't expect to see much traffic in the ways of commissioners. That's why I also plan on working on how to better market myself as an artist. Fanart and doing some free drawings for people is probably a good start, but I'm still not 100% sure how exactly to go about it all. Thankfully there's still a month left to figure something out!
Stay safe and don't catch a cold!
