I plan on switching my focus to self-improvement. So the pace of requests will slow to a crawl, sorry to disappoint you my fellow artists, friends, fans, and others to be, but this is for my own good.
This isn't a hiatus or anything, I'm not going anywhere any time soon, so don't worry, it's just that, I know I can do more, I know I can do much, much, better, I just don't know how to, yet. A slight change to requests,
Posted 14 years agoNow, I usually don't condone bribery and the like, but sticking to these large dimensions in my drawings would have everyone waiting for weeks longer than intended.
So there will be a slight change to my requests, and the quality you might expect. Keep in mind that I am still in a highly experimental phase, and it should most definitively go without saying that results can, and will vary.
I was usually sticking to dimensions that are sub 2,000x2,000 pixels, which can allow for plenty of room and detail, my largest actually at this point being 2,300x1,800 (Headfirst into Hell).
Unfortunately FA limits images to 1280x1280, even though I've seen many posts that are larger, up to 1500, 1800, even a few as large as 3000 without converting or rescaling.
This disappoints me since the conversion causes a huge loss of detail and quality, especially converting from png to jpg (oh gawd).
I'm going to shrink my default size to about 1200 or 1500 pixels, but I'm still willing to put out large images.
The catch?
Pimp me in your journals, spread the word about my requests...unless of course you can show me how to post large images without forcing FA to convert/resize them, or maybe little tidbits such as modifying the UI in SAI, or whatever else you feel like giving me a hand with, since I'm always looking for resources to help me improve in any and all aspects, I might make other considerations then, and always happy to return the favor.
In return, I'll bump the dimensions back up to 2000x2000 for those helpful individuals, possibly a little smaller or larger if the tweaks in size works better for the image, but at the end, it's your request, your drawing.
Of course, I always appreciate feedback, suggestions, and the like. Thanks in advance for any considerations.

So what's going on?
Posted 14 years agoYou may not have seen a whole lot of new stuff from me, but thankfully it's not what it seems, there's been a lot going on behind the scenes.
Trying to get a better work-flow down, I can crank out sketches a lot faster now although they're not a whole lot better. Been trying to do some drawing exercises and whatnot.
Note that I not only do this for myself but for you, my fans, fellow artists, viewers and friends alike...if I can improve on what I'm doing, then you're more than likely to get more and better pieces out of me, possibly faster or more frequently, simple as that.
It seemed it was just a day or so ago my profile was inching it's way towards 50 views, this morning that just passed 150. I'm not sure who's spreading the love around, but I appreciate what you're doing, whoever you are. Thanks.

Posted 14 years agoAlright so I may have a new tablet but as you may have noticed my work output=slowpoke compared to before.
To explain I'm fine tuning my lovely Tools of Destruction as we speak, adding and customizing new brushes in SAI, setting up hotkeys for the Bamboo (sharpening the saw if you will), oh, and if someone can show me how to mod the UI in SAI, I shall find a way to bear your children.
And nearing 100 views already? wtf mate? what is this witchcraft?
Oh, almost forgot to mention, if you haven't experimented with Alchemy yet, it is TRUE FREEWARE, and an awesome time waster. Absolutely no drawing experienced required, I swear.

It may seem confusing at first, if none of the vids on Youtube do much for you I'd be glad to show you how to make trippy images with it and occasionally stream it when I don't feel like doing real drawing(I will not be held responsible with self-inflicted trips and licking of screens, your mileage may vary) best results with some coffee + Aphex Twin if you ask me.

Got me mah new Tablet beeeyotch! Bamboo Capture, gave it a 5 min test drive and scribbled up a little teaser with Sketchbook Pro for something I have in mind. A request is similar, and yet all too different from a commission. A request is exactly what it sounds like, you're asking for a favor, that favor in this case is a drawing. Best part of it all, it's FREE! Commissions on the other hand are a paid service, and typically the more established artists start opening up and dedicated time to them.
I'm not too sure what system other artists have for requests. Mine are pretty informal, they do not require strictly visual references (meaning, you can just tell me what is what without pictures) so no worries if you don't have one although they help a lot. They are not limited to characters, it can be pretty much anything you can think of. You can leave this request practically anywhere that I'm going to see it. If I'm not streaming, leave a shout, send me a note, leave a comment. If I'm on a stream, feel free to drop one right in the middle of it (although I'd prefer to chat a little bit and just get to know a few tidbits about you before I get started, I like to put a bit of myself and the requester into the piece).
What I will not draw : trademarked characters, scat/poop, diaperfurs, or ponies (horses are fine however)
Commonly many artists do not prefer, or are sometimes offended when they are asked "hey can you draw like [insert random artist here]?", which I can understand how it can be insulting, since it undermines the artist, and their style.
Like I've said to my more active viewers during my sessions, I'm in a highly experimental phase, and the work you request can and will vary to a large degree. I could attempt to draw like someone else, but that's as much as you can ask of me, they're just attempts. It would take long hours, countless sessions of trying to mimic said artist, using the exact same hardware/software, looking at their influences, watching their streams religiously, etc,etc,etc. It would be daunting to begin with, and next to impossible to do repeatedly, for each style someone asks for.
What I can put out is limited to my mediocre drawing skills, whatever info you give me, and how much freedom you are allowing me. Keep in mind requests do not equal commissions.
You want something mind-blowing, in eye-raping detail? Be prepared to shell out a handful (a few popular artists can charge $500 upwards per piece, and don't get me started on auctions...put careful consideration into such commissions), and a good start would be in my watch list or my Favorite Artist section.
Otherwise, you're more than welcome to come back anytime and ask for a piece done just for the fun of it.

It would take long hours, countless sessions of trying to mimic said artist, using the exact same hardware/software, looking at their influences, watching their streams religiously, etc,etc,etc. It would be daunting to begin with, and next to impossible to do repeatedly, for each style someone asks for.
What I can put out is limited to my mediocre drawing skills, whatever info you give me, and how much freedom you are allowing me. Keep in mind requests do not equal commissions.
You want something mind-blowing, in eye-raping detail? Be prepared to shell out a handful (a few popular artists can charge $500 upwards per piece, and don't get me started on auctions...put careful consideration into such commissions), and a good start would be in my watch list or my Favorite Artist section.
Otherwise, you're more than welcome to come back anytime and ask for a piece done just for the fun of it.

Some thoughts, overview and recaps
Posted 14 years agoI'm not gonna lie, I didn't figure I was going to get anything accomplished, or that my streams weren't going to work out so well or even get any requests from anyone and yadda yadda [insert emo-ish comment here and there]. I'm glad I was so wrong.
Hit the 70 view mark, I now have ten watchers (small entourage) one request finally finished,caught a bit of attention from one of my fav's so Scappo decided to leave a shout on my page (I had to give a double-take to make sure I wasn't hallucinating from being sleep deprived), getting a Bamboo Connect for X-mas (oh boy!).
I failed to post that I'm a lefty but I was thinking of trying right-handed. A few of you might recall on one stream that I mentioned if I had a tablet that read multiple inputs I would attempt more than one drawing at once. I've given it some thought and will probably stream tonight going righty in case I do get my hands on such a tablet later on.
On one of my breaks at work I scribbled out a scene I'll try out, we'll see how that goes.
Appreciate the attention folks and anticipate another stream this evening.
