But, no, really, AC was very fun. I really liked seeing my friends, chilling, arting a little. Many thanks to  dreamaria and  huskie666 for helping me with laminating a couple things and fun talkingsto.  chival was leader of many fun times, as per usual!

My cats are/were glad to see me - they've been hanging around even more than usual, attaching themselves at random like fuzzy pieces of velcro with pointy bits.

All in all, it was a good con, I had fun. Also fairly drama-lacking which was pretty nice, I know some past ACs have been a little hairy.

This is also sort of about "astronaut ice cream" - or freeze dried ice cream, if you care.

Well basically, I realized that malted milk balls have a very similar texture as astronaut ice cream - whoppers, in any case. This makes me crave huge chunks of malted milk... goddamn I love freeze dried ice cream. The texture, the taste...mmmn. So freaky and unnatural and delicious. I mean, 'cause ice cream ain't exactly naturally occurring in the first place [neither is a lamb vindaloo but that is neither here nor there] but then we go and we make dry ice cream. We make something that unnaturally occurs... unnaturally occur. Again. I mean, really, the whole process of from the cow's teat to the light little piece of delicious foam in your hand is kind of fucked up. I don't know, it's sort of neat. And any time two of my favorite things cross - science and food - it makes me happy like a gleeful fat child ransacking a candy factory. Except with less childhood diabetes.

I am a little nervous about AC. Some of my usual crew will not be there. Maybe Azzy, though... see, now if I say it here you're publicly implicated to come [not really, you know meeeee]

I need to get inspired to clean. I was doing good, then went to AL to visit my father and ancient cat, and since I got back.. nothing. Also, why did nobody tell me about the weather here? this is so unacceptable. I mean, I don't want it hades hot but please, have mercy on a southern boy and at least stay in the 60s!

But mostly they leave me feeling like shit.

What's up with that?

Has anyone else noticed a propensity for their favorite restaurant to have an "off" sort of day whenever you try to take someone to it? It seems the more you build it up the worse everything ends up. I'm not a very superstitious person but I can't help but hold myself off from talking -too- highly of a place I am about to eat at.

Which also reminds me of cats, which will do the opposite of whatever it is you want them to do, even if you want them to do something they always do.

Does anybody else find they have a very long list of people they want to draw for? Do you find that picking who from the list to draw for makes you not want to draw?

I suffer so badly from this. There are friends I want to doodle for, artists I admire, fan art for some comics, whatever... and when I do get that rare bout of wanting to draw so often I just draw a blank of who/what to draw. Typically I get caught up in the "who I should draw first" thing and end up spending all my mental energy trying to figure that out. Then I don't feel like drawing. It's very frustrating.

Today is a very, very nice day and I find myself totally getting why my cats just wanna lay in the sun.

We also had a final [hopefully] battle with the carpenter bee that had taken up residence on our back porch. I wouldn't mind so much if it was on the porch attached to the garage, but where she was at was just asking to inadvertently piss her off. Maybe a week ago I had the brilliant idea to plug the hole she'd made with chewing gum, in an attempt to frustrate her and send her off without having to kill her. She made short work of tunneling beneath/past the gum [probably once it hardened]. Today Jayson went out and sprayed some insect poison on/in the hole and mashed the gum back into place. I feel a little bad, but not as badly as I would had I gotten stung because I was on the porch and mommabee didn't like that. I guess I made the effort for non-lethal eviction. x_x

Not really.. and not totally good news, but kinda good news. Went to the doctor/er [I don't have a regular doctor here yet] and they gave me pain pills and anti viral medication. I do indeed have shingles, but hopefully in a week or so these pills will see to it that the flare up is gone.

I was able to sleep somewhat normally last night for sake of delicious percocet. I foresee another day of watching Arrested Development and hopefully some housework now that I can focus on something that isn't "ow my neck/face/head". :)

Looks like I have shingles... makes a lot of things unpleasant, like sleeping in particular. Its around my neck region so the pillow or the bed is bound to press on it from almost any position. It looks more gross than it did, though it was already pretty foul- this is supposed to be it healing. I honestly don't remember what it was like to have chicken pox but either I was a more stoic little kid or this is worse, cause I can't imagine suffering through this as a tot and not scratching the hell out of everything. Now it's moved beyond just itching into the pain area so I do get a, er, friendly reminder, every time I do slip up and scratch.

I haven't been to the doctor yet but an appointment will be made quite soon.

The worst part is I can't tell what's normal itchy spots and where it might be coming in. ahhhhrrrugh.

It was GOOD. Very good. I went into it thinking it was going to be your typical modern day horror movie fare cheese fest, maybe good for a laugh at how utterly bad it was... but I was wrong!

It has a sense of humor about itself, and zombie movies in general, while still maintaining a straight enough face to pull off some impressive blood and guts [brain goes PLOP!]. There's almost an element of slapstick to some of it, but I feel they pulled it off very well.

They're swift moving zombies, if you couldn't catch it from the trailer, but they're NOT ragey-disease zombies. More like, "Holy fuck these men were so goddamn evil in life their bodies kept it up even after they died." Have you ever seen a zombie punch somebody? Maybe? Have you ever seen a NAZI zombie punch somebody? You need to.

I will now stop gushing about this movie and resume my plague [well, flu...]
