First Week At Work
Posted 13 years agoWell, as I relayed in my last journal, I got a new job. My first full-time job in a town not too far out of the city.
Resigning from retail was a joy, and I celebrated by wearing my tail around the shop all day. Went down a charm. I specially bought some cheap black trousers and cut a hole in the back of them so it looked semi-realistic at the very least. My main objective of confusing the elderly seemed to work, anyway. Got a farewell card from the staff and my manager - sad to see me go - gave me a £50 gift card which I have used for some lovely shirts for the new job.
The new job is social media manager, working for an electronic cigarette company on their social media platforms, along with attending events, filming, editing and generally reporting on. It's the perfect job, it's virtually what I studied at Uni but a bit more relaxed. The 5-day week flew by, it seemed to go by quicker than a 4-day week at Tesco. I've been learning a lot about the company, and I'm getting on really well with the staff and managers. The next step is to spend a few months saving and finding a flat in the town where I work, to remove the 20-train-a-week, 4-hours-a-day of travelling. That'll come, hopefully, in the summer-autumn of this year. Claws crossed!
Anyway, after really getting depressed at Tesco, I'm delighted that I can be creative and on my toes in a really friendly environment. So I'm much happier now, which is good all round. ^.^ I don't get paid for another month so I'm going to be a bit skint. But oh well, I'll have monies soon enough. And many monies brings many pointless accessories!
It may mean a slowdown in music production, as I'm going to be a lot busier from now on. I released a new one yesterday, but it may slow down a bit from here on. We'll see though.

New Job + New Album + Trip To Italy + Suck My Dick, 2012
Posted 13 years agoSo it took just 17 days of 2013 to be a vast improvement on the 2012 debacle. This time next week I will no longer be a slave to the corporate grind of retail, I'll be working in a full-time job, doing what I love. Video editing with a hint of journalism with a touch of social media management. I'll be working not too far from home, in a nice area, with a good pay, and by the end of the year, will hopefully have moved out with the wage increase. No more Tesco for me, finally! After 3 miserable years I'm off. It hasn't all been miserable, I admit. I'll miss the people, but the job is just numbingly depressing. This new one offers a lot more variety and a lot more excitement, but also a bigger challenge. Can't wait to get going.
And in the greatest case of Good Timing of recent years, wedged happily in between my last day at Tesco and the first day of my new job is a three-day trip to Milan. I'll be tootling off by myself but definitely looking forward to seeing the sights of one of Birmingham's "twinned towns", even if they are due a ferocious amount of snow in the weekend that I go. If the plane takes off and lands at both ends then I'll be fine.
Finally, in case you missed it in the submissions, I've got a new album out. Well, less of an album, more of an experimental EP. For a bit of fun, I created an hour of hold music, to generate the concept of being on hold to an unknown entity. I tried to make the music really tinny, with distortion and interference, and to make it as repetitive and as annoying as possible. Some people are quite enjoying it though. So you can either go and listen to it and enjoy the experience, or you can see how long you can endure it!
To listen, head on over to http://equium.bandcamp.com
And you're about up to date! Hoorah for an exciting start to the year! ^^

How are you traveling?
Uhhhh haven't thought of that one yet. Will get back to you. May be train, may whore myself out for a lift.

Flynn <3
Who will you be with?
Take your pick from: Bouncing between aaaaaall the Midfurs and anybody else I grab in the process.
Where will you be? How is the best way to find you?
Tweet me at EquiumFox! ^^ I'll set it to buzz so if you want me I can get back to you promptly... providing I can get signal.
What do you look like?
Not something you can look at for extended periods of time. Ask your doctor.
What is your gender?
Bloke.
How old are you?
2.5 decades
Are you mated/in a relationship?
Yus I am.
How tall are you?
5'8"/172cm/0.00855 furlongs
Can I talk to you?
Of course.
Can I hug and/or snuggle you?
Hugs are more than recommended. Snuggles? If that's just a long hug, then yes. Otherwise, nopers.
Are you nice?
So fucking nice.
Anything I shouldn't do?
Set me on fire.

Which suit(s) will you be bringing?
My upgraded partial. Of Equium of course.
Can I try on your suit?
What a ridiculous question.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Calling my name may work. If you call my name and I don't respond, I didn't hear you, or that's not me.
Do you take commissions?
I can draw a smiley face on the back of a postage stamp but that's about it. Unless you genuinely want a theme tune for something.
Will you have an artist ally table?
Only to throw at those who wrong me.
Dealers den?
Not selling, no.
Panel?:
Nope? I don't think?
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
I won't have one. Stop assuming things. Tsk. Some people.
Can I ask ya to dance with me during the dances?
You can ask, by all means. But the answer is probably no. Dancing and I do not get on.
Can I buy you drinks?
Malibu And Coke, please. You decide the ratios.
Do you attend parties?
If I'm invited to one, I'll probably show up. But invites are few and far between.
Can I take your picture?
If you have a sturdy camera lens.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
SPEND LESS.
And that'll do me. See you in sunny sexy Hinckley in May. x

2012: Failure Report
Posted 13 years agoSo around this time last year I did a jaunty, hilarious "2011 Meme". Do you remember 2011? Aw. Anyway, one of the questions in said meme was:
What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
To which I replied:
My own flat somewhere and a job where I don't try and kill people with my mind.
It fills me with an inexhaustible amount of misery to tell you that I did not get my own flat somewhere and that my job still makes me want to stab. With our handy new lines of kitchen knives! Now 80% off.
Over the course of the year I've had under 10 interviews for new jobs, each of them met with a resolute declination, alongside literally dozens if not over 100 applications for jobs where I've heard nothing back. Or at best, a "thanks for applying". As much as I want to be a video editor, I sense that the creative path is closing all the time, but if I concede defeat and take up a full-time job at the supermarket I will have killed myself by the time I'm 30. But I can't afford to leave the part-time misery until I have something more rounded. I think the New Year will see a change from a part-time job I hate to a full-time job I hate. Sorry, in short, work opportunities in 2012 were shite, and a result of no change there has seen no change in my current accommodation when I am in my mid-twenties and living with parents, which is just upsetting. And I know there are plenty of others, perhaps yourself included, that are in a similar position, but this is not how I saw my life going when I stood proudly on the stage at University walking away with my degree. When my dad was 25, he'd just moved in to his second house. What makes it even worse is that I see a lot of my friends moving ahead of me. Starting families, getting their houses, getting their dream jobs. I see people on TV and hear people on the radio that I went to University with and I wonder at what point did we stop being classmates and become different tiers of society.
Those two reasons have been the main two reasons I have spent 2012 miserable. I have, however, found solace in one little piece of joy which is Flynn, now 5 months into a relationship with wolfie and feeling pretty good about the 5 months that come next, and hopefully everything that follows it. And of course, I found a great deal of joy in my travels. Though limited this year, I was able to go back to Sweden and spent almost a fortnight lounging around in the farms in Frillesås with Wolfspawn et al, and spending a few days in Copenhagen with Pinky was absolutely delightful and I would love to go back some day. (In the next couple of months I have trips to Milan and Stockholm in the diary so will certainly be enjoying those). I also had a very eventful year on the convention and furry event front - the usual trip to ConFuzzled was delightful, staffing ScotiaCon was good fun, even though I won't be there next year, alas, I saw Germany for the first time at the Cologne FurDance, helped staff both Frantic Eufurias in Bristol and went to both London fur parties, all of which were superb and marvellous events. 2013 will prove to be a bit quieter, with only a trip to Nordic Fuzz Con confirmed at the moment - ConFuzzled is still a maybe, depending on funds.
So all in all, was 2012 a success? Well... no. I am thankful for my health, my boyfriend, my family, friends and what teeny money I do have. But I'm in a rut. And you know what ruts are like. And every time I look at my staff badge that says "Joined the team in 2009", it bothers me that this short-term job is running my life, and I want out. Claws crossed that 2013 is the year it all changes. And it shall start with a party with some of my local furry friends and it shall be awesome. (Hence why you get this journal today and not tomorrow when I shall be at work then at a party).
Oh, and also, I want to try and make FA more active in 2013. 2012 saw about 1 upload and one journal a month, which isn't great, but composing has naturally slowed. There is a concept album coming out soon though. But hopefully I can bring something a bit more as I go into my fifth year on FA and my 8th in the fandom. See you all next year. x

Nordic Fuzzcon Latest
Posted 13 years agoAre you registered for Nordic Fuzzcon yet?
I only ask because it increasingly looks like NFC will be the only con I get to attend in 2013. Which is not a bad thing, Sweden is excellent. ^.^ Tirrell and I will be scooting around the city of Stockholm for parts (indeed, I have downloaded the Stockholm Metro map app already and am keen to put it into action) and when we're not in the city we'll be spending lots of kronor getting drunk at the bar. Maybe. Depends how many kronors we have. XD
Check out nordicfuzzcon.org. So far, people from nine countries are coming to NFC (ten, if you count Åland Islands as a country... which I DON'T. :P) and glorious UK is currently fourth... because everything is a race! Chasing down those pesky Finns! And miles ahead of those puny Danes.
It looks set to be a great con, and my first foreign con, which will be a nice new milestone for me. ^.^ It'll be at the end of March, check it out! ^^

My new project: Infuriating album approaches!
Posted 13 years agoSo, after receiving a challenge from a friend of mine, the topic for my new album has been decided.
It's more of a concept album than an actual album of real music... for you see, the whole album will be telephone hold music. Infuriating, repetitive and ultimately dull, annoying music for you to pretend you're on hold to someone with. I almost want to bet you won't listen to every second of the album!
Anyway, production is well under way with several tracks penned so far, so keep your eyes open (if you really want) over the coming month or so and it should be released in due course. :3
Just hold the line.

Sweden's very own furcon! ^.^
Posted 13 years agoI've genuinely lost count of how many times I've been to Sweden now. Either 6 or 7. I love the place. Anyway, my 7th (or 8th) visit will be a rather special one as I'm off to Sweden's first* convention, courtesy of
Nordic FuzzCon.
(*Yes, I know full well Eurofurence 2 was held in Linköping in 1996 but that doesn't count. That's a German thing and it was taking a holiday. It's never been out of Germany. Apart from the times it's been in Netherlands and Czech Republic. They don't count either. Besides, I've not heard much of it lately, I doubt it's even still going.)
Anyway, Nordic Fuzz Con is being held in Handen, in the south provinces of Stockholm and about a half-hour train from the city centre (and the hotel is opposite Handen Station, with direct trains to Stockholm Central, so no excuse!) and looks like it's got the capabilities to handle a group of fuzzies arriving on their door. I don't know how many people have registered yet, but it's set to be a small convention. Which I think is great; I like small conventions and it'll give me a chance to meet literally everybody and make a lot of new friends.
It cost me just £180 for convention entry and three nights in the hotel, and I've managed to get a return flight from Gatwick to Stockholm for £110, so all in all, less than £300 for four days in Sweden surrounded by furries. What's not to love? ^.^
If you're going to be available at the end of March 2013, have a look at coming along. Stockholm is the most beautiful city in the world and I'll be sure to head back to the city centre at least once to enjoy the scenery of just one of Stockholm's fourteen islands.
And if you do end up going, be sure to give me a shout. ^.^
Love ya,

Nearly ScotiaCon!
Posted 13 years agoOoh am very excited about ScotiaCon - our marvellous Scottish convention is back for another year and the staff have been working flat out to get this year's con bigger and better than 2011!
And, just like last year, I'll be reporting back on the wonders of it from my out-of-breath state as I'll be following everybody around with the camera! ^.^ So if you're attending this year - keep your eyes peeled for:
FurryVision - Our excellent hosts and their apparently European accents are back hosting the FurryVision Song Contest! We've got some cracking acts lined up too, and they'll be belting out some of the classics! And of course, the audience get their vote into who wins!
Fursuit Highland Games - Fox Amoore and SFW host the frenzy of fur that is the highland games, back once again! Should make very exciting and bizarre viewing, and cheer on your favourite suiter in the process!
Pub Quiz - I have sweated blood into preparing the pub quiz and will be aided by Kaspian on the night to present the Pub Quiz! First prize is a round of drinks! What's to lose?
Dances - Last year's dances were fun... we've got double the people this year! Bring your glow sticks, your suits, your shapes and your moves and hit the dancefloor!
Me - I'll be glued to my camera looking for the finer things at the convention for the official ScotiaCon video! Don't be shy! Say hello, come for a chinwag and a nosebump!
Hopefully see you there in less than a week! =D Don't forget you can follow EquiumFox on Twitter, I'll do my best for updates, but for official convention questions, go follow Scotiacon. ^.^

Long And Frustrating Rant That I've Turned Into A Story
Posted 13 years agoI was posting a rant on UKF when I realised I simply couldn't be bothered. I had turned from angry into miserable. So I wasted some time and turned my rant into a children's story.
Once upon a time, in a cold, dark, dank corner of the world, lived an evil monster. With nasty, spiky, horns, an acid tongue and deep pockets, the evil Tesco monster dwelled in his dark cave all day and all night. Tesco wanted all the money in the world, and had lots of evil helpers in his cave, which he called "Managers". These "managers" knew nothing of the outdoor world and spent their life in the shadow of the big Tesco monster, pleasing him in any way they could. But getting all the money in the world was too much work! What could the managers do?
The managers decided to hire their own helpers! These helpers were called "staff", and were treated very badly by the managers. The managers used to bring staff in to their cave, and they would never let them out. The ones they did let out, they turned into miserable people, unable to work for any other monsters! Eventually, the staff decided they wanted some of all the money that Tesco had, so the managers started paying the staff some of the money they were taking.
Suddenly, Tesco saw that this was working faster than ever, and gave the managers more money to spend on the staff they had - money to last all through the year, so all the money in the world would get to Tesco faster! The managers saw that this made Tesco happy, and started giving all the staff all the money to work! But there was a problem. Even though they all worked together, none of the managers seemed to speak the same language, so they never talked to one another! So nobody knew where all the money was going. Suddenly - the managers ran out of money! The silly managers! They'd accidentally used up all their money, spending three week's worth of money in two days.
They went to ask Tesco for more money, but Tesco said no! The managers told all the staff that they had no money and they'd all been stupid arseholes who couldn't organise an orgy in a whorehouse and dozens of staff like one blue-nosed-foxy ended up having all their promises of more money taken away forever and got stuck in the cave until they died.
The fucking end.

ConFuzzled Rundown
Posted 13 years agoCF2012, eh? What a bloody good laugh.
Probably the best CF I've been to, and a staggering amount of work and organisation went into it - and it showed. So to while away some sunny afternoon time, here's my rundown of CF's glorious weekend in Hinckley.
FRIDAY
Arrived with Gen'Ichi into Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire and got our impressive room and had a gander around the amazing hotel - a vast improvement on the old place. With a large rotunda, lots of social space and fab rooms, the hotel was screaming out for a furcon - what a great find! Hinckley is officially on the furry map. First things first - I picked up my superb new tail from Faruku and paraded it proudly all weekend - it's superb, and served me well! Weirdly, the first thing we did to the convention was to leave it, as Awkore and Sayre drove me and Gen into nearby Rugby for a "Beast" - a 24-inch rectangular pizza. The lupo-vulpine corners did well and demolished through our bits - the one with the tiny dragon stomach limped to the half-way point and no further. Lizards, eh? XD I don't have any photos of the remainder of the evening as I proceeded to get blind drunk. I recall dancing a bit and crying with laughter at Red Dwarf (unusual as I don't normally like the show) and seeing a hedgehog (real one!) at about 3am or something stupid o'clock. Apologies if I lurched towards you somewhat. There was plenty going on, I just don't recall any of it.
SATURDAY
Very, very hungover and rather tender all day. But, got up early enough for one of their breakfasts (it seemed you either loved it or hated it - typically I was sort of in-the-middle) and headed on down to the Dealer's Den. For the first time ever I was a sponsor, so managed to take advantage of the early entry by picking up a fox plush before they vanished, as they disappeared rapidly. Also picked up my customised Mood Badges from TaniDaReal, who has done a marvellous job on those! But, apart from those, and a small keyring tail, again from Faruku, I didn't pick up anything else. Then we had a highlight - I'm not sure if any furcon anywhere has had a football competition before, but we staged a football match in the opposite field with a variety of footballfurs, including Ani Boxer, Baekho, Tirrell, Stuart Otterson and about 5 others. It was exhausting as the weather was about 24ºC, but such great fun! I was on the winning team, and even scored a goal. Awesome. This would only interest a pawful of con attendees, but we had enough to set it up and it went down a storm on the pitch. I caught the end of the furry fiasco and started recovering, showering, eating the hotel's fine burgers, and generally making plans for the evening.
The evening arrived and me, Callisto, Tirrell, Jasper Wallace and Orion piled into my room to watch the Eurovision (or, as they say much more poetically on the continent: the "Melody Grand Prix"). Going easy on the drinks as I was still feeling rough (the football didn't help) but glorious Sweden won! An enjoyable evening I think had by all. After some ambling around and chatting to various people, I made for an early night.
SUNDAY
Feeling refreshed, I was up and busy from the off, helping to build a Frankensuit to represent Born Free with Natu, Damian Tanuki and a couple of other charming peepers. It looked pretty damn good, but not crazy enough to win. XD Without my fursuit I didn't do much on the parade but instantly made my way to "Meet The Sponsors", where I came face-to-face with a real fox! The Nuneaton And Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary - the CF charity of choice - brought in a few of the animals they've adopted and are looking after, which included a tarantula, a large snake, a barn owl, an eagle owl and most impressively of all, Roxie - an 11-year old vixen, who's somewhat of a celebrity in her hometown of Nuneaton. UK viewers of Channel Dave may recognise her from the Old Speckled Hen adverts! But, in that session alone, the charity raised £650.
No time to rest! Straight on to the free sponsor buffet (which to be honest was a little bit disappointing, as there wasn't much of a selection) but oh well... and then *another* football match, in which I had the joy of saving a penalty... but had to stagger through most of it as V managed to balance himself on a bollock I had just lying around. >.< Ouchie. Didn't win that game though, but it was fun. And so, off to the Fursuit Dance Competition to watch Gen'Ichi put in a valiant effort on the dancefloor. A quick burger later and we were off to the live auction, where I actually won a thing! It took 5 conventions but I finally put in a winning bid at an auction! XD Truth be I won two things, a Shirik piece of art in the live auction, and a wonderfully crafted foxed-up bottle by Jasper Wallace, which you'll be able to find in my favourites folder here. It was then back to drinking, where we managed to get Syreko drunk for the first time in 5 years and then, for a reason I cannot remember, we chased him through the Rotunda. Oh well, I'm sure there was logic in there somewhere.
MONDAY
Up. Breakfast. Closing ceremony. That was about it.
TL;DR VERSION
There is no TL;DR version. If you can't be bothered to read it you don't deserve to know about all the awesome fun I had. ^.^
THANKS to all the people below for making this weekend one of the best on record. Hugs and such are in the post.

Cologne Report
Posted 13 years agoHey hey everybodypeeps.
Having spent the last five days in and around Germany for the Cologne Fur Dance, I'm finally back to terra firma - but for any German furs reading, Köln was lovely and I hope one day to come back to your lovely country. ^.^
So, here's a quick snippet of some stuff I got up to.
Nearly got killed in Belgium
Belgian drivers are the worst in the world. This is a fact. They are utterly terrifying and awful and only the impressive driving skills of Jasper Foxx got us out of Belgium alive. Two motorways merging into one lane with cars sprawled all over the lanes and carriages is utterly nightmarish, and only some fine-tuned driving skills kept us out of the back of a Lotus... it was insane, it could so easily have been a pile-up, the way everything merged together. It was like the cross-over on a Scalectrix circuit. x.x Don't go to Belgium.
Got shown round Köln and went to the top of the cathedral
I was joined on Saturday by two absolutely lovely other foxes, Colditz and FurryRatchet, who came in for CFD but spent the day with me, for which I am grateful. However, the first thing I did was accidentally nearly kill them, after suggesting we go to the very top of Köln Dom, the 158m (516ft) high Cathedral which powers over the Cologne skyline. Those 1066 steps up and down took it out of us a bit, but they joined me for nibbles, Starbucks, souvenirs and general walking about, and accompanied with some good weather it was a great day out.
Free facts: Cologne Cathedral took 600 years to complete and for four years after it's completion in 1880 it was the tallest building in the world, until the completion of the Washington Monument. It stayed as the tallest Cathedral in the world until 1890, when Ulm Minster, in Ulm, Germany, was completed.
Went to the FC Köln Stadium
I know most furries don't really care about soccer, but I enjoy going to check out new stadia whenever I go somewhere new and the 50,000 seater RheinEnergieStadion between Frechen (where we were staying) and Cologne was just the ticket. It didn't look amazing, but it had that European-stadium feel to it and the surrounding parks and grounds were very nice. Just a pity the team got relegated last week.
Oh, and went to Cologne Fur Dance
On Friday we were greeted by one of the CFD staff, Kamikaze, who joined us for a meal at the EA Sports Bar on the banks of the Rhine. (Top stuff that was too). We, as the ambassadors for Frantic Eufuria, discussed our dance events and what ideas we had for upcoming events, and it was all very productive, and he allowed me to place around some ScotiaCon flyers around the venue, so hopefully we'll see some German sign-ups for the big Scottish convention! But I was able to place these flyers on tables around the venue, because I was delighted to learn of a social area adjacent to the dancefloor. This was perfect for me, not much of a dancer but able to talk constantly, I sat down with FurryRatchet and Colditz and was joined by various people throughout the night including Kamikaze, SnuggleBunny, Saberhagen, Kiono, BanaanePit, and a fair few others. Ended up spending €35 on drinks and had just about enough to see me through the next day.
In short: Thanks to everyone who stopped to say hello at the dance, thanks to the organisers, thanks to JasperFoxx for putting up with me virtually all weekend, thanks to FurryRatchet and Colditz for showing me around Köln and again, putting up with me, and thanks Germany for being nice and only raining when I was indoors. Hope to come back one day!
Loves,

CF2012 Meme
Posted 13 years agoDISCLAIMER: I am so very VERY bored. This is why you get this.
Where are you staying?
The hotel.
What day are you getting there?
Friday, I think.
Who will you be with?
Mr Awkore and Mr Sayre are bundling me into their barbie van and driving me there.
Do you do free art or trades?
Come to me with paper and I will draw you StickFox.
Do you do commissions/badges?
Look in my gallery. Does it look like I do commissions?
Do you have prints/CDs?
Nope. But if you want one I will happily take your money.
Do you have art in the art show?
I have submitted a photo of an appendage but I don't think it's been accepted.
What suit(s) will you have?
None. If you don't know my actual face you will have trouble finding me.
Can I dance with you?
I need copious amounts of alcohol first. COPIOUS.
What is your gender?
Manly man.
How old are you?
Four and twenty.
How tall are you?
5'8". I tower over most midgets.
Are you mated? in a relationship?
Boringly single.
Can I touch you?
That very much depends what with. And what a bizarre question for this particular meme.
Can I talk to you?
I encourage this.
Can I hug you?
That really depends on how sweaty you are.
Can I take photos of you/with you?
Providing you have a strengthened lens capable of dealing my ugly chops.
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
Again, this is highly encouraged. In fact, more so than talking to me. Just point at the bar and get me something.
Do you drink Alcohol/Smoke?
How can you drink smoke? Buy me all the alcohol you can afford, as for cigarettes, I don't need them. Sculpt them into a nice model.
Can I give you lots of money?
You can but you can expect very little in return.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs I've covered, "snuggles"? I'm not sure.
Can we hang out?
Depends if you get on my nerves. If you don't, it's fine.
Are you nice?
Almost all the time.
In fursuit...
...is not a question.
Where will you be most of the time during the con?
THE BAR.
Other cons you may go to?
I'll be at ScotiaCon in July.
Who are you rooming with?
Gen'Ichi. MidFur dragon type. He brings booze.
Attending any events?
Frantic Eufuria and Cologne Fur Dance and ScotiaCon are all on the agenda, as well as many Birmingham meets.
How can I find you at the con?
Stand on a chair in the middle of each room and shout "ATTENTION PLEASE I WOULD LIKE EQUIUM TO COME HERE NOW!" and I should be around.

New Tail?
Posted 13 years agoAloha loyal fluffoodles.
Just a quick question - who can recommend a tail-maker/fursuit builder who can make me a "realistic" looking fox tail? A big ol' fluffy soft thing with longish fur? Is anybody watching me who can offer such services, or know anybody currently welcoming commissions of a realistic nature? I do like my current tail but it's a touch old and needs an upgrade.
So - who/what can anybody recommend? For a decent price? (Anything under £50 or so)
Regards,
Equium auf der Newtailplz.

Bristol Weekend
Posted 13 years agoWell, I've had a very busy week. Been working flat-out editing and writing and directing and going from city to city and stuff. So, it's been a great weekend to recover - and for this weekend of chilling out I have to thank the lovely
Jasper Foxx for his hospitality and care throughout the weekend!
Friday
Top tip: Don't try to take a 27"-wheeled bicycle on three trains over 100 miles in rush hour on a Friday evening. You will get glared at, stared at, shouted at, crush and be crushed and annoy and be annoyed. In all the panic I'm pretty certain I left my £120 MP3 player on one of the trains. >.< Either way, I got to Jasper's house with a bag of things and my bicycle all in one piece and settled down to chill for the evening before the big day tomorrow!
Saturday
Up early-ish for our big event of the weekend - the 30-mile cycle round trip to Cheddar Gorge! If you don't know it, it's essentially a big gorge/mountainous region in the town of Cheddar, Somerset. Got some caves in there, some of which are 9,000 years old and home to Britain's oldest skeleton. I normally like to blast my bike down the gorge, overtaking as much traffic as I can at 40mph, but we didn't have time. Instead, we opted for an hour or so around the town, buying fox plushies (guilty) and fudge and stuff. Typical English tourism. XD Afterwards, we pedalled back at some speed (which surprised the both of us, obviously that Kendal mint cake gave us more energy than we planned for) and got back to the house.
We spent the evening, and this may sound a bit sad but it was great fun, going through Jasper's extensive coin collection. He very generously donated to me a few duplicate coins, including a no-longer-in-circulation One Penny coin from 1900, complete with profile of Queen Victoria. Quite weird holding something that's older than most people on the planet. But again, we just chilled out for the evening.
Sunday
Up VERY early (and lost an hour's sleep, thank you British Summertime clock adjustments!) for a car boot sale back in Cheddar with Jasper and
Anthropup. It's what you yankee doodles might call a Trunk Fair, basically people collect an assortment of either pathetic rubbish or forgotten gems and put them on a desk for people to come and gawk at. We went as gawkers and I picked up a fox statuette for 20p, a book about foxes ("Running With The Fox") for 50p and 4 boxes of chocolate for £2. Jasper bought a statuette for 50p, and some high-vis vests for £1 each. A good ol' mooch with some giggles along the way.
Went home, watched the F1, and very briefly met up with
Sneaky Muffin who popped round. Good to catch him, before making my long journey back home to Birmingham. Can't fault the weather, can't fault the company, can't fault the weekend. Great fun, shall have to have another sharpish! Ta guys!
Much love,
Equium auf der Somerset.
Jasper Foxx for his hospitality and care throughout the weekend!Friday

Cute music? Zany video? Meet Bella Ruse.
Posted 13 years agoYou know I'm a fan of my cute and bouncy music - a lot of you are too! I know this first hand. So, may I point your fuzzy stuffs at this excellent track and video which I've only *just* found about - but my word they're lovely! :D
ScotiaCon 2012 Trailer & Frantic Eufuria 4 DVD
Posted 13 years agoBoth out now!
The ScotiaCon trailer I wrote and directed - it's a little off-the-wall and has got mixed reaction so far but it's certainly a different style of trailer if ever you saw one! ScotiaCon tickets are just £60 for entry and the convention is in Inverness - one of Europe's fastest growing towns - at the end of July. Last year's convention was excellent (link) and hopefully this year's will be just as good.
As for the other project that's taken up most of my first 41 days of 2012 - the DVD of Frantic Eufuria 4 has been released! Frantic Eufuria is a one-night massive furry pile-up in Bristol's YHA, with hours of rock and dance music and bouncing furries all night. The previous DVDs may have been a little underwhelming (see: static camera left on record all night) but bluenose has stepped in and brought a new approach to the DVD and it is totally action packed. ^.^ If you want a copy, get my PayPal details and send £5.99 (+ £2 for shipping if you are unable to pick it up in person) and we can ship one off immediately!
Enjoy! :D
Love,
Equium auf der Editor
P.S. Music? Oh that thing. Yea, I've been super busy this first month and there's nothing really in my veins flowing musically at the moment. There'll be some coming soon perhaps, but I appear to be accidentally having a break. Hopefully with a bit more free time I can put my brain into gear a bit.

Cologne Fur Dance
Posted 14 years agoSo, with travel and hotel booked, only something of a personal financial meltdown (don't rule it out) can stop me from travelling to Germany for the Cologne Fur Dance in May! I'll actually be stopping in the nearby town of Frechen but spending a fair deal of time in Cologne over the weekend.
Is anybody interested in going, or planning it now? Any of my European friends going to make the journey? ^.^ This is going to be my first visit to the old enemy (minus travelling THROUGH it a couple of times to get to Switzerland and Austria) so I'm keen to see what it has to offer. Anybody been to Cologne/Köln before? What's the city like and what's to see? ^.^

Pointless 2011 Meme.
Posted 14 years agoPointless year. Pointless meme.
1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Go to Norway. That was fun and cold but it doesn't beat Sweden. Nuh-uh. Nothing will.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept one. Save money. Unfortunately, it was to compliment moving out and that hasn't happened. *huff*
3. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
Writing this meme. Oh, but I have friends collecting me for a night out shortly so I'm just killing time.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Another year, another clean slate.
5. What countries did you visit?
Norway, Scotland, Wales, Sweden. First trips to Norway and Wales. Norway was nice and snowy but as expensive as padding a parcel with ten pound notes, Wales was nicer than I thought, Scotland was for purposes relating to ScotiaCon so that was awesome, and Sweden, though lacking snow, was still ever-awesome.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
My own flat somewhere and a job where I don't try and kill people with my mind.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
11/11/11. The one time Americans could have changed their date format to our superior one and they blew it.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I made a film which achieved runner-up in a film competition for the London Olympics. That was pretty nifty.
9. What was your biggest failure?
The lack of a decent job and failure to find a good partner.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Foxflu. Sudden sneezes and sniffles. But nothing majorly violent.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new MacBook Pro. Still paying for it. But worth it. *mwah*
12. Where did most of your money go?
Travelling, furcons and meets, and the aforementioned laptop.
13. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Probably "Whatever's On Your Mind" by Gomez. An amazing tune which helped me through some low points.
14. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Work and independent research and studying.
15. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating.
16. What was your favorite TV program?
Why, the new series of Mongrels of course!
17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not "hate". But friendships have changed and formed and lost.
18. What was the best book you read?
It was a late Christmas present to myself, "Is This Some Kind Of Joke?" by the disturbingly hilarious Icelandic "comic poet", Hugleikur Dagsson. Features all sorts of black humour and mentally worrying but brilliant cartoons. XD
19. What was your greatest musical discovery?
An electro-pop British band called "Metronomy". Great music, great album, awesome.
20. What was your favorite film of this year?
I'm don't think I've seen a film this year.
21. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
24. And I went out and was violently sick in Stoke-on-Trent.
22. What kept you sane?
Define "sane".
23. Who did you miss?
Oh, a variety of furries I don't see nearly enough of. You know who you are.
24. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
Supporting Birmingham City is hard work.
All in all, 2011, D-. See me.

Attention Germans
Posted 14 years agoOpen question to any Germans watching me for whatever reason.
What's the cheapest, quickest way to get from Berlin to Poland? (Anybody who makes any reference to the 1930s will be given a stern talking to. XD)
I ask because I'm planning a trip to Poland next year and the price of flying to Berlin is five times cheaper than flying into Poland, so I'm trying to get from Berlin to West Poland as cheap as possible - are there any linking coach/bus/train services etc?
And if you aren't a German, but KNOW a German (oh, or a Pole for that matter who might live nearby) please do ask them and let me know? Ta.

VERISIMILITUDE: New album - Out now! (Free Stream/Download)
Posted 14 years agoWell, as promised, here we are. November 25th, and it’s the official release of my third album, Verisimilitude.
STREAM/DOWNLOAD HERE - WAV or MP3 320.
Verisimilitude as a concept is a metaphor for the entire concept of reality. The tracks vary from the shrill and eerie "Gin" and "Nuclear Winter", to the tranquil and light "Soft Breeze" and "River Incubus", and the anthemic power of "The Eons" and "Meteorites".
The cover art indicates three states of mind floating towards an idea, but in space, obviously. A huge thank you and credit should go to
Wolfspawn, designer of the front cover and rear cover, the latter available with the download. There is in fact, a large Scandinavian inspiration in the album, with songs dedicated to/inspired by/written in Norway, Sweden and Iceland.
The album, like The Absence, is free to stream - downloading it will get you the eleven main tracks, both the front and back album covers and three extra tracks; the high-octane fast-burner "Velocity Engine", the distorted and peculiar "Woebegone Wilde", and the pleasant, calming "Kits In The Porch". Downloading Verisimilitude is also free, but any donations you'd care to make are more than welcome. ^^ More importantly, I hope you enjoy listening to the album. I highly doubt that everybody will like every song but if you take just one or two away with pleasure I'll be happy. Of course, let me know your thoughts here on FA, or on Twitter, EquiumFox. Here’s the tracklisting for the album stream, hope you enjoy it. ^^
1. The Eons (7:20)
2. Svalbard (5:02)
3. Emerald Sunrise (2:04)
4. Soft Breeze (3:26)
5. River Incubus (9:40)
6. Björt Ljós (6:01)
7. Meteorites (9:02)
8. Ataraxia (1:24)
9. Gin (4:47)
10. Nuclear Winter (4:31)
11. The Orbit Of Dione (13:31)

VERISIMILITUDE: New Album, Friday 25 November
Posted 14 years agoA bit quiet here, isn't it? I apologise profusely, but it's because I've been scratching at my monitor trying to clean up my new album, and I've finally got into the closing stages. So, boys and girls, the new musical offering from yours truly comes out in ten days time on 25 NOVEMBER. It'll be available on my BandCamp page and just like the previous album, it'll be completely free to download and stream - unless, of course, you want to make a small donation. Enough to buy a pint or something. That's entirely up to you. XD Without further ado, let me give you the tracklisting:
1. The Eons
2. Svalbard
3. Emerald Sunrise
4. Soft Breeze
5. River Incubus
6. Björt Ljós
7. Meteorites (Verisimilitude Extensive)
8. Ataraxia
9. Gin
10. Nuclear Winter
11. The Orbit Of Dione
And it comes with three bonus tracks (Velocity Engine, Kits In The Porch & Woebegone Wilde) and amazing artwork for those of you who choose to download it. The tracks range from the spaced, the ethereal and the calm to the downright anthemic, thunderous and eerie. It's over an hour's worth of music, even before the bonus tracks. Hopefully I haven't whet your appetite too early, but I assure you it's worth the wait. If you have any questions do feel free to ask. ^.^
