Family Emergency Update
Posted 8 years agoI've finally gotten the time to sit down and explain what my little family has been going through lately.
Saturday May 27th my husband alerted me to swelling and pain in his scrotal area. The swelling was enough that i noticed it easily. We got him to the ER within the hour and signed in around 2:50pm. We figured it was an abscess that had gotten infected. They ER agreed that's what it was by palpating and we were admitted into the ER treatment area and were quoted a probably 3 day stay with surgery to remove the actual abscess.
While in the ER they required 3 CTs and an ultrasound. One with contrast and two without. After about 4 hours they let us know the doctor saw something "Fishy" and wanted another look. So more scans later we have a doctor come in and tell us that my husband's sugar is far too high (had no idea he was diabetic at this point but he eats a keto diet which probably helped him stay mostly healthy all this time) and that all his back pain was revolving around a irritated ureter that he's most likely been passing small stones through. About 14 hours go by in the ER where we find out he's allergic to Morphine, he's got a dangerously high PH and passing ketones in his urine and a 16,000 white cell count.
They decided to admit him into the ICU. They start him on Linezolid, Piperacillin, IV fluids and regular doses of insulin to bring him down to a safe level. the second day he's there they bring him a "Diabetic" breakfast of buttermilk pancakes, hash browns, syrup, a whole orange and milk. These are all things that he does not eat normally with his keto diet. I talk to the nurses about having a talk with dietary that the meal wasn't safe for someone they want to regulate the sugar on.. Lunch, they brought him a small chunk of chicken, over a cup of potatoes roasted, a big roll, creamy soup and crackers.. Yet again not realizing the amount of carbs in said meal is detrimental to his health. Dinner was a huge plate of pasta and various non diabetic friendly items.
The next morning, they came in and dosed him with his levemir (slow acting insulin) and fast acting but refused to feed him his breakfast because they didn't "Want to stress him out" So at this point i get a call that he's in dire need of food that they've given him his meds and no food. So i had to rush into the kitchen and make him a big serving of scrambled eggs with sausage and rush it in. I then found out that they were more than likely going to continue this. So I was forced to be able to bring him in EVERY single meal he'd need. So i had to make and bring breakfast, visit, and leave in time to make and bring in lunch, visit, and leave in time to make dinner and then visit for a bit before i needed sleep or to find time to take care of the pets and house.
That second day in ICU i ended up having to have a fight with the nurses. My husband's infection was localized mostly to his scrotal area with bad swelling getting worse. A doctor came in, glanced at him, asked if he had insurance and that was really it. Didn't palpate the area or really look into the problem of why he was there.. only decided to call a Urology Consult. A couple hours later i was checking his area (which i did regularly) and i saw that he had ascending redness that was spreading up towards his abdomen.. which was his infection spreading. I first started with begging the nurses to come look. They wanted to put hydrocortisone on it. I then requested they get a doctor in to look at it (we're in the ICU, there's a doctor near by right?) They said they'd call the doctor. They came back an hour or so later and let us know that the doctor wont condone changing his meds up without looking at him first, but won't come in to look at him? At this point i was a little miffed and demanded a permanent marker so that we can outline the spreading infection so we could gauge the speed at which it was spreading.
They argued for a while before agreeing to outline the redness. By the 6th hour without a doctor coming in and him looking like death, I was irate, and angry and ready to start a fight. They apologized and told me that the On-call ICU doctor had left and didn't want to come back in. I was dumbfounded at this point. An ICU with no doctor available.. They proceed to tell me that 4-5 doctors will come check and no one ever came. at about 10-11 hours later, the Urologist came in from surgery and see's the issue and looks around and asks why no one told him it was an emergency. He switches his meds around.. and then proceeds to tell us that this could progress into fornier's gangrene which he said had a 99% mortality rate. He decides that he's going to give it 24 hours, wants the nurses to check on it every two hours and outline the redness (also complimented them on outlining it before he got there) and watch to see how it's doing. If it wasn't doing better, he wanted to transport him to another hospital, if it was getting better, he'd keep him there.
I went outside to yell, scream, cry and generally lose my mind. I was very certain that if something happened to him because of this facilities inability to get a doctor to come look at him, i would be the most dangerous person on the planet.
The next morning, the surgeon came in and was happy to announce that he saw a 25% reduction in spread of the infection. He spent a full 4 days in ICU before being moved to Med/Surge ward.
Once moved there we had tallied up the following allergies: Morphine, Dilaudid, Norco, and because he was on linezolid he couldn't take tramadol or else suffer serotonin syndrome and we would later find out that he had a reaction to another medication.
Now that we found he can't take any pain meds except ibuprofen, he's basically in agony at all times and no one can help and they'd only give him a motrin every 8 hours.
His wonderful surgeon had an emergency and had to leave the country and transferred his care to another surgeon. The attending and surgeon decide to put him on 2000mg of vancomycin every 6 hours i believe.. and have him on constant blood tests to make sure his kidneys weren't shutting down from it. After a few days, the surgeon puts his foot down and schedules him for surgery to drain the scrotal area and hopefully get the infection out. 7 days of medications weren't touching it at this point and it was turning into a mass around his pelvic area.
The next day we go in and my husband's RN loses her shit because the ICU hadn't listed his Allergies in his paperwork so that anesthesiology could prevent a massive fuck up. We go in for pre op and are told to wait in the waiting room, no one else was there, just us. nothing but emergency surgeries that day and ours. it was supposed to be a 30 minute surgery. we waited almost going on two full hours before an OR tech came in and noticed us and asked "... uh are you ____ _____s family?" and we said yes.. he was amazed the surgeon didn't come to talk to us.. and let us know he was being moved back to his room.
When i got back to med/surge i found his RN and told her i absolutely needed that surgeon to come up to the room and explain what the hell happened. She was pissed that he didn't come talk to us.. and called the OR.. only to find out that he did the surgery and just left. Flat out left. And took him off ibuprofen for some random reason.
They couldn't reach him on his phone, office line or any other way. They said they were going to file a formal complaint against him for his conduct.
Later that day we notice he's turning bright red and itchy and totally covered in hives.. a couple days later the surgeon claims it's more than likely red man syndrome from the vanco and they stop the meds.
So after a couple days of packing/repacking the wound, the surgeon decides to take the packing out, cancel home care and wound care and they sent us home with scripts for tramadol, clindamycin (only 6 days worth wtf) levemir, novolog, lisinopril, and a meter/strips..
Apparently the surgeon forgot to write the dosing info on the pain meds but the pharmacist was a champ and called him directly to get the info. The hospital wrote a script and forgot that they can't get insurance approval for fast acting insulin without a pcp script, so we couldn't get the novolog and because they wrote the script for 3 pens, and the pharmacy didn't carry them.. we only got one vial of the levemir.. which was only about 20 or so days worth at the 25 units morning and night. So we had to call the med/surge doc and get her to call in another refill until his doctors appt the 20th. The pharmacy was out of lisinopril so they gave me three days worth for free until they got their full supply in.
So far, we've been logging all his sugar tests in a tally book along with his bp test results. He's eating keto and taking his meds. I'm watching his drainage from his open incision and somewhat unsure what i should really be looking for, the drainage is thin and mostly clear with a tinge of pinkish yellow.. but mostly lymph fluid with a little blood.
Luckily he's got PTO and his bosses have already told him to not worry about work and such. My back is killing me and i've been running ragged lately. I lost 20lbs in 11 days from not being able to eat due to stress..
Now things are getting back to normal and i await the bills from insurance. Once he's in the care of his PCP i will be filing a complaint with the joint commission on his care/dietary issues and other things.
This has not been fun. But i have him now and that's all that matters.
Back to work when i have down time when he's sleeping.

Need to make 100$ Emergency Money
Posted 9 years agoWith all our bills this month with pickle i need to make some extra cash to cover the missing needed for the rent. I'm aiming at 100$ but willing to work for more.

What I've been doing lately
Posted 9 years agoFor the last month or so, we've been having a battle..
A battle for pickle's health. This is her three days ago http://i.imgur.com/75VSyyf.jpg
It started May 16th-20th. Hair falling out in large quantities, and constant itching, as well as an upset tummy.
We had massive flooding and storms here right before this. The vets said "severe flea bite allergy" so we got her and brute on flea prevention pills (Lufenuron based) and flea killer pills (capstar) until we got the fleas killed on them. Have 6 months of flea prevention for both dogs and we went from there.
They said it would take a couple days, but it got worse, much worse. She constantly itches and scratches and chews. So i started bathing her weekly, with a deep conditioning and then rubbed down head to toe in Tri-care wound ointment that has 1.5% benzocaine in it. She was started on benadryl 1mg/lb as directed by the vet. Didn't really help.
They said to change her food. With all this going on, we tried an elimination diet that made no difference. We put her on steroids for a week, in which she puked so much so hard she started irritating her esophagus and bloody goo up. Not to mention the excessive pooping. So she was taken off at my aggressive fighting for.. She didn't want to eat, didn't want to drink and refused to do anything but itch.
So i went in to see about a vet bath that i can get to help her scratching, they saw a photo of her and said "oh no" another vet was around and said "oh that looks like a fungal infection"
At this point, we have two different diagnosis, So i took her to banfield in Petsmart, as they gave me a free visit when i took her to the store to look for better products. They said it looks like a bacterial skin infection.. which actually covers all her symptoms at this point. What may have started as a flea bite allergy, may have moved into an infection. I discussed the other vet's opinions and they were open to the ideas but wanted us to tackle the item that could actually make her much more sick if not treated, order of importance as it were.. They also changed from benadryl to zyrtec for her allergies which seem to be helping some.

She also has booties on her back feet that are vet wrapped so she can't pull them off. She goes on supervised 2-3 minute runs outside to potty so she doesn't get into anything that could exacerbate her allergies or skin problems.
So far we've put almost 380$ into figuring out and not being able to make a difference on her.. EXCEPT the Tri-Care Wound treatment gel i got at the farm supply shop. She went from almost completely bald to regrowing hair. We've got a prescription called in to get her Keflex(cephalexin) when they call we can start her on it. They are giving us well over a 30 day supply, but only doing a 12 day treatment at 500mg twice a day. Go from there and see how it's going.
We're also getting k-9 Advantix 2 for both dogs, they want us to put a secondary repellent on them even with her skin the way it is just in case.
My Morning:
Wake up, wash hands, put eyes in, go to the bathroom, wash hands again...
Make pickle's medication mix(vitamin e capsule and 5mg zyrtec) in cheese and give it to her. Take her clothes off, put them in the wash, and coat her down with Tri-care ointment or bathe her first, if it's the day for it, if it is, bathe her in oatmeal wash, condition for 10 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water, dry and then coat down with tri-care. Then spray some no chew spray on her paws and spots she can reach ie; Tail, butt area.. Then i take her out to go potty, bring her in, redress her and let her sleep.
Near noon, she gets her lunch and some supplemental oil (coconut usually) and go potty.
Evening is another nibble of food, her other 5mg of zyrtec and vitamin e in cheese. Take clothes off, wipe her down with doggy wipes and then recoat her with tri-care and redo all her clothes and give her a little spritz of some fly/mosquito and flea spray i got at TSC on her clothes and she hangs out until it's time for potty and bed.
repeat every day, at one point it was every three days needing a bath.
Going through 4oz tubes of tri-care every three days at 13.99$ each. So i'm sending the guy today to get the 23$ tub of it at the farm supply shop. As soon as her prescription is ready for pick up we start her meds.. If those don't make a dent we go the fungal route.
In the beginning, she wouldn't come to anyone, just hung out in her kennel, barely moved.. once i started using the Tri-Care ointment, she's happy, jumpy, playful and hyper as all get out. Runs to go outside and runs around, barks again.. So i'm hoping it's a bacterial thing and the medications work.. I'm at my wits end here.
And at the end of the month, My best friend moves about 8 hours away.. So i'm stressed and upset.
IF anyone would like to get some commissions done, i'd be super happy to take my mind off everything, and it would really help with the vet bills, should this next course of meds not work... Also would help with generally taking care of her, Rolls of vet wrap/sticky bandage wrap every few days, Tri-Care ointment and shampoos and Conditioners aren't cheap and anything would help at this point.
I did get to have a much deserved date with my dude lastnight, which was perfect and awesome.
I also got my internet fixed so i can start streaming on picarto.

Then spray some no chew spray on her paws and spots she can reach ie; Tail, butt area.. Then i take her out to go potty, bring her in, redress her and let her sleep.
Near noon, she gets her lunch and some supplemental oil (coconut usually) and go potty.
Evening is another nibble of food, her other 5mg of zyrtec and vitamin e in cheese. Take clothes off, wipe her down with doggy wipes and then recoat her with tri-care and redo all her clothes and give her a little spritz of some fly/mosquito and flea spray i got at TSC on her clothes and she hangs out until it's time for potty and bed.
repeat every day, at one point it was every three days needing a bath.
Going through 4oz tubes of tri-care every three days at 13.99$ each. So i'm sending the guy today to get the 23$ tub of it at the farm supply shop. As soon as her prescription is ready for pick up we start her meds.. If those don't make a dent we go the fungal route.
In the beginning, she wouldn't come to anyone, just hung out in her kennel, barely moved.. once i started using the Tri-Care ointment, she's happy, jumpy, playful and hyper as all get out. Runs to go outside and runs around, barks again.. So i'm hoping it's a bacterial thing and the medications work.. I'm at my wits end here.
And at the end of the month, My best friend moves about 8 hours away.. So i'm stressed and upset.
IF anyone would like to get some commissions done, i'd be super happy to take my mind off everything, and it would really help with the vet bills, should this next course of meds not work... Also would help with generally taking care of her, Rolls of vet wrap/sticky bandage wrap every few days, Tri-Care ointment and shampoos and Conditioners aren't cheap and anything would help at this point.
I did get to have a much deserved date with my dude lastnight, which was perfect and awesome.
I also got my internet fixed so i can start streaming on picarto.

Posted 9 years agoThis past Tuesday (the 5th) was the 4 year anniversary of losing my dear boocat. So it didn't start out great. The same day i got word that my best friend and her husband will indeed be relocated due to work, too far to visit on any regularity without moving ourselves.. Which further put me into a slump. That day i took my last Valium. It's effects lasted longer than i care to admit (not mood stabilizing) but creatively challenging my brain.. making it hard to come up with ideas to draw.. It also could be the pretty severe depression.
I did manage to save a dog that had been dumped by someone in the apartment complex across the street. They apparently were trying for weeks to get him back, as he was adopted out from the Gulf Coast Humane Society, returned, adopted out again, returned and then the last person adopted him and dumped him out the door. Got bit in the process.. hurt like a bastard but he's safe http://i.imgur.com/eEUAogv.jpg <--- the weirdo human faced thing.. Then! i found out he was a she! lolololol
I've been saving up to get a used truck for the dude, so he can move to another job that he has to have his own vehicle for. Our Grand Marquis isn't made for the job he's got tot do.. so i'm trying to save up around $3k to start with. But it sounds like every other week something else is piling on that i need to spend that savings on.. So i would love to get more work going. I would bust my ass 24/7 if it meant i helped out more.
Last week a coworker made a joke that he'd be a better "girlfriend" to my husband because he had a job.. they both laughed about it.. I know he doesn't know about my anxiety and severe stress issues.. but my husband sure does.. it really hurt to hear him laugh at it. I've been having a shitty, why am i so useless, week..
My husband keeps seeing other much better much more talented artists with patreons that make thousands a month, and wants me to start one, thinking a. i'm going to make anything remotely close, and b. I'm anywhere near that good and c. i could figure out how to continually produce art at a pace that would be beneficial to anyone and work that anyone would want to see.. but he also doesn't take into count that i really don't want to go that route yet, until i'm better, until i learn more.. but the more i dodge the reasons and don't do it, the more he gets miffed that i work so hard and make not enough (in his mind i do too much work on each drawing for what i don't earn on the return) but i am just a perfectionist and have been working to make it easier on myself but hard to give up.. So i'm not starting a patreon.. certainly not yet. That may change one day, but for now, not having one.
I do want to know if anyone would be interested if i started streaming while i work. Just hang out and watch and such.. Maybe get some stream sketches or watch me do commissions lol
Today was a crapshoot of unfun. a guy that gives me severe anxiety because he drinks excessively and is hard to get rid of... came over to have my dude work on his phone.. i hid in the bedroom with the cats most of the time, trying not to puke from the anxiety.. later he offered to take us to dinner for fixing his phone.. i was reluctant and wanted to just go do a small grocery trip and be done. But they wanted to go out.. so we ended up at hooters so they could get their all you can eat wings.. This guy had like 5 of their big beers and full meal.. at the end, he says he's going to have a smoke, and leaves. He ditched the entire tab that he said he was treating us on.. so we ended up paying the entire thing, 100$ isn't a lot to some folks, but when you are trying to save up and not eat out.. it's a hit. I was livid.. So i came home sans 100$ and went to bed. Woke up to a friend posting about her husband going for a walk with the dogs and having a heart attack.. he never made it home.
I would really like to do some art now.. something, but since i am just sitting here pondering life and it's weird way of making things go south at odd times.. just drinking tea like "whelp, that shit happened.. now what?"
TL;DR: Shitty week, love you all.
PS: the foster cat potato is getting his new potatoes cut off the 20th :D

Posted 10 years agoMonday I had a graphics card error that we thought was fixes by reseating the card. But today it shut down while I was working withour actually turning off. So I'm having the guys look at it tonight and fix or find out what I need to fix it. Should be back by the end of the week. I'm posting this via my phone at the moment. Just happened to be driving past when we saw a tiny "For rent" sign on the house and on a tree..
We called the owner who showed it to us 20 minutes later. We fell in love. We love the house, The people we are renting from and just about everything that goes along with it. I need so much stuff, and it costs more than what we were renting so i need to try to help make up the difference more, but i'm loving this place. Only downside is a big apartment complex across the street. But they seem rather quiet and calm. No problems yet.
We've renamed Patches to Pickles. Her neck is healed, just looks like a white scar now, she's fully fixed and up to date on her shots. The dogs play together like total hams.
Kiwi loves the house, brute loves the house.. and now my only conundrum is affording a tile floor scrubber. I saw one at the store and need to get it.
No pet deposit on the house because of the beautiful tile all throughout.. but i have no ways other than a bucket to clean it.. and it was dirty when we moved in lol.
They've already had the roof replaced like a week ago. They are awesome land lords, and the more stuff we replace and fix, the more they take off the rent. Love it :D

Posted 11 years agoA About a week ago my husband was driving home and found a Catahoula puppy. He figured she was just emaciated and went to grab her as it was cold. He saw her neck and brought her home immediately. Having gotten his first best check ever. We opted to take on the job of fixing her. We took her to the vet with a very severe open neck wound from what looks like not an embedded collar but a dog who had been tied out and kept thrashing to get loose. We could see two trachea and it's nasty.
They opted to not close the wound because of how messy and jagged it was. So we were to put her on tramadol and clavamox every 12 hours with twice daily bandage changes... And do a follow up with our regular vet. They insisted no surgery until she's got weight on.. She started at 18.7lbs at 8 months old... she's easily up to 22lbs now.

Now to the fucked up part.
Two days later our Landlord knocked on our door. The estate battle he's been having with his step mother came to a head and a state assigned Executor decided to liquidate all properties. As of the 2/9 we have to be out of our house. So much for paying your bills on time and nothing bad can happen. We were current, up to date and paid up. Since they opted to not give us re-signed lease paperwork.. we are out of contract and have no options as far as an extension.. So while i scramble to find a home we can afford to rent and that takes pets.. I am packing my house and crying. Along with taking care of all the financial responsibilities of this puppy.. i'm at a loss. Art and drawings will have to be put on hold. I have a full house to pack and a home to find. And at this point, i have zero idea where i will live next month. Or what i will do if we can't find something in time.
Please understand that i was excited to have a chance for life to go back to great again and to start drawing again.. but it seems our life isn't quite as good as we had hoped.. We're getting screwed and have no idea what to do aside from do our best to make things work out. I love you all. I won't be packing my computer up until we're ready to move as i need to be able to look for houses. But work will have to be put off for now.

I really appreciate the warm wishes and messages i got while away. I hadn't logged into any of my art pages in a long while. We fell upon really really messed up hard times and I ended up working two jobs with as many hours as i could physically handle while the hubs did the same. We're almost back on top and he's got a nice new jobs now and i have the ability to slow down with my psychotic working to go back to art again. We're almost able to buy groceries without having to worry about what bill we'll put off that month.. Soon!
I'm sorry i didn't inform all of you that i was taking a small sabbatical from art. it was all very rushed, sudden and surprise. It was one heck of a blow to the heart after another and when it all broke down i jumped into doing something without thinking about all of you who would miss me. I apologize.
I am back, and i am ready to draw, relax a little and have fun with art again. I have also changed my email that i will be using for Art and contacting me.. He has had a vicious recurrence the last few months and has been unable to work, He is a pro golf trainer as well as amazing artist that would love to get back to the way things were. His specialty is training people to play golf. He is amazing at what he does and is even better at his artwork. We are working on getting his Indigogo page set up so that he can make ends meet for this month.
At bare minimum due to his illness he is in need of at least 150$ so that he can make his rent and pay his bills. He hopes to make enough so that he can pay for treatment and living expenses but as of right now we are all more concerned for the current living situation and rent.

Posted 12 years agoSorry for the last three weeks.. I have been inactive and almost unreachable for a few weeks.. Starting with a death of a close friend on Christmas eve..
Last three weeks we've been attempting to treat kiwi for a UTI/FIC.. Started with what i noticed as urgency in using his box.. but that was the only sign.. Got him on Baytril and a shot of Baytril for a booster. Was doing great until the next Wednesday and that ended up with us rushing him back in with a container of bloody urine. EXCESSIVE amounts of crystals but they were very small the vet said..
We were put on a prescriptive diet of Royal Canin Urinary SO, and a refill of his Baytril, which we can get at a local emergency vet's office cheaper than the local pet-shops.. at about 24 cans of the 5oz variety for about 45-50$ depending on what variety(pate or chunks in gravy) we get.
What that started was his total refusal of all food and water. Since it was an emergency to start him on the urinary food to break up the crystals we weren't allotted the time to switch him over.. I thus had to spend the entire day attempting to feed him, water down portions of the cans, mix it up, and use a giant oral syringe the vet gave us to hand feed him. As well as giving him 9cc's of water every hour or close to it.
EXHAUSTING.. i wanted to cry every second of every day.. and still i am dumb founded at his still refusal of water in all forms..
Yesterday was his first true day of going potty without pain and having full bladder makings... We've gotten him to the point of being able to quarter each can, getting out a quarter chunk, watering it down a little and mushing it up and warming if it's been in the fridge.. or at all.. he seems to love it heated... and putting it on a small plate. Doing this four times a day to finish a can.. seems to work, though some days he eats less than others.. He does need to be on wet all the time now. so worth the cost if he never has to suffer like this again..
Today, i woke up this morning, he went potty, got his pill, relieved a good bit of himself and hopped into bed ontop of me and slept until 5pm with me.. Something he hasn't done all these weeks while in pain. Upon his waking(and my finishing reading of my book) we went to clean the kitchen. I gave him his portion of food, and 9cc's of water and a treat or two broken up. He didn't get up at all today to use the bathroom.. Used it about three times so far with no urgency and no sign of pain. We're going to keep him on the food, use up his antibiotics and keep giving him oral doses of water until he starts showing signs of taking in a tiny bit of water.. He technically only needs 2oz of water extra plus the wet food to keep himself healthy.. but during an infection or upset of FIC he needed extra to flush his system...
He is on the mend and getting better.. He actually played fetch with me today with his toys and was adorable. I will be getting back to work as of right now since my lovely but sometimes obtuse husband has decided that i don't need any sort of human interaction and gone to bed without letting me know.. or even having dinner with me..
It's been a long, hard, stressful, cry inducing three weeks.. Hopefully we can pass this hurdle and get on with things and get better!

They will be full body, Cell shaded lightly, not super detailed and can be the theme of your choice as long as it's not super detailed. I would like these to be easy to get done and great for practice of my cell shading, something i rarely if ever do.
We haven't found his wallet yet, and i had been saving up to get him a Birthday gift and a Christmas gift or two and managed to get those, but i forgot we had switched over some of our accounts to my paypal for recurring payments and now i need to make up some funds so i can get those paid, it's under 30$ that i need to make, but don't mind doing more than that in work and getting stuff out to people who might be interested. The thing of the matter is i can't tell him i don't have the money at the moment to pay the bills.. or he'll get the idea that I possibly spent my money on something for him and that will ruin the surprise i was saving up for. His birthday being the 27th after Christmas it makes it a huge importance to get him a good gift for both and that he understands i will never forget his birthday, when most folks do.
I don't mind also doing the regular 10$ per character full color images as well, but i wanted to try my hand at a few cheap cell shaded ones.

Posted 12 years agoMy lovely husband lost his wallet tonight. It had about 4400$ in it... on the way to pay some bills and put the rest away.. he lost his wallet somewhere.. we retraced all his steps, asked at every single place he went.. no one has seen it or at least is admitting they saw it.. and no one has turned it in.. We filed a police lost item report but they won't even get back to us about the report for 10 days.
That was everything we had.. bills didn't get paid, money was lost.. and i don't assume anyone would be kind enough to return it.. i'm just so upset it hurts. I kept telling him that he should never carry over 100$ in cash with him.. I had no idea he had that much at the time... Why he put it all in his wallet like that is beyond me, but now it's gone.
I've searched the car, every single place he parked and everywhere he went for work, except the office parking lot which is behind a gate at the moment. He swears there is no way it came out of the car after he got in the last time.. that's my only hope left otherwise our utilities and power will be shut off before his next check.
And of course no one at the places we went to have found it or have admitted to finding it... Can someone just make this pain go away? it seems like at least once a week i have to deal with something earth shattering, so upsetting that my little heart wants to give out... with very little up side to much of it...

RIP Little Ethel
Posted 12 years agoOn Tuesday we lost our little Ethel rat to a massive infection that was unannounced until it fully took over..
she had been, since the day we got her, having Myco issues, that were never fully taken care of because her immune system just wouldn't work properly...
she passed quietly, wrapped up in my shirt, cuddled up to me...
She will forever be missed and i will always have fond memories of that cute yet ornry little ratbutt...
I hand stitched a nice rat cuddle tube out of fleece and hung it in the cage for Lucy...
For a few days all she wanted was to sleep, we were ok with that...
For being over 3 years, she's lucked out with the health lotto, Poor Ethel had not been as lucky...
The vets were amazing, and we Lost Ethel.. but she's no longer suffering.
May she forever rest in peace.
Commissions will continue, we took a small time this past week to relax and get over the hurdle of losing her.

Posted 12 years agoYesterday, i got some heartbreaking news from my lovely husband, he has been fired.
He was the main breadwinner in our family, and with our expenses at a minimum we need to make at least 1500$/m to scrape by. Luckily his last check will be tomorrow and that will pay for the house for this month. But i am crying and panicked for next month. He is currently looking into a job at a local College but as far as network engineer jobs in town, there aren't many. Especially what he was paid. We have lost his Insurance and his tenure, but with that tenure the board of trustees must look and sign off on his release. If this does not happen, they could welcome him back.
I have all the hope in the world that they would see this firing as unjustified and ask him back, but as it is now, if i hope too much and it doesn't happen i will be that much more angry and sad. As it is, he will probably take a tech shop job at a local computer shop for much less than he's worth to just scrape by.
With that i have come to the meat of it: I *MUST* raise my prices for a while. I don't know how long this will go on but for the time being i have to shift my 8$ full body commissions to 10$

Only new commissions from this point on are under this price, If i have work pending for you and also pending on your payment when the work is done already, you are locked in at 8$ per character. Reference sheets will stay 100$ and backgrounds will still cost extra on the work. I am VERY sorry that i have to translate this cost onto you, but as someone unable to currently work outside the home i am scrambling to find a way to help out.
I also have all the posted scarves for sale. If you would like to see a list of them please ask and i can work with you on the prices.

Gave myself the last weekend to be sure i was better... i feel SO much better..I do feel weak and need to do some stretches to build muscle strength again.. i figured it was never going to leave me be.. Hubby is on the end tail of it and feels so much better comparatively.. so hopefully soon for him.. Back to commissions now!

from what i am told, the illness has a 7 to 10 day length *hopefully* and i should be back to normal by the weekend.. or sooner.. i really hope sooner..
I've got the swollen lymph nodes, fever topping out at 103° and body aches that would match the hit of a semi..
both the hubs and i have it, him to a lesser degree..
Doctors confirm we wont die, but should rest.. so we are..
sorry for not getting commissions done in this down time but they will be finished asap!

Posted 13 years agoAfter losing my best friend *boocat* of 18 years, i spent a lot of time crying, grieving and very very sad... it hasn't stopped, nor has it gotten better. All i feel is loss and guilt, Guilt because i couldn't save him, Guilt.. and it doesn't go away.
But in all of this loss and sadness one person has been there through it all and lost as much as i did.. My hubby. While i have been down and depressed, too sad to function and lost in my own world, he had the strength to cry and go about his day.. he had the strength we both needed to not give up.. and for that i would love to reward him somehow... as it is, the only thing i think i can adequately do for him is small i know but something he has been looking forward to for some time.
I would like to buy him Diablo 3, preferably pre-order cheaper than full price.. ugh.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16832133072
If anyone is up for some more commissions or a commission of their own, they are 8$ per character colored. See examples of previous work done below.
If you want more than one character it will be 8$ per character, no background/limited background.
I would really like to get this going, i have a couple i am currently working on *you guys haven't been forgotten!* but would really like to get him this.
