Anyone else also into worldbuilding?
Posted 6 months agoAs someone who adore creating fantasy worldbuilding, characters and creatures and story.
I was wondering who in here is also into that? ovo!.
I have (currently active) 3 worldbuildings going on:
Elydra - Elydra artfolder
The Oldest one, going way way back to early 2000's (somewhere 2001-2003ish it started). Is a big part of my life by now since it have existed so long.
In the early days I was for sure inspired by tolkien (had even elves and dwarfs in it at first, which I dropped soon later, because over time I figured that I like to design and create all my creatures). Elydra is a very other worldly magical fantasy world, located in a planet named Mardyle. Within Mardyle is 3 different continents, Elydra, Malvane and Wortos.
Mirra - Mirra artfolder
Mirra is a single story concept, which I this year started posting chapter 1 comic over here: Mirra Comic
Mirra started as an random art piece I made back in 2013. And since then the story been cooking in my mind. Mirra is a sort of a mystery-surrealistic-fantasy (if I had to describe it?). Mirra is probably the smallest of the 3 (since it's a singular story/book, and not several like the other worldbuilding concepts). But still lengthy enough where I am not sure if I'll be able to finish or not?. But time will tell, is a little test baby for comic making at least! (And yes I have story in mind beyond chapter 1. I have character designs I have kept secret for years already!).
Beyond terrestrial (working title) Beyond Terrestrial artfolder
This is rather new, which is why I don't fully have a "concept name", beyond terrestrial as name is planned (in my mind that is) as the name for the first trilogy stories, but the concept goes beyond than just three stories already. I started this last year, 2024. Similar to Elydra it have several stories in mind. It's a more space fantasy type of story (with tie ins with others concepts). In someways I have had long space fantasy stories in mind, it wasn't until 2024 I finally sat down and started doodling and sketching new creatures and such.
Other mentions
I also have technically other worldbuilding before these. many I had to drop. Like example "crystal rainbow" from 2007-09ish, which actually was meant to be sort of prequel to Elydra. But many things have changed in Elydra since then, so it don't fit in anylonger. That being said, I may reuse or inspired some characters and concepts in other ones (I wonder anyone have noticed the similarity to one of the mirra characters by now? haha).
I also had another concept called "in mother Dayezhan" (or something like this?) it didn't live long, but was circus-tsjar themed. Another one was a school project for a game concept back in 07 which never got a name, but had bunny mermaids, odd stubby blue lizard monster character and aliens with wings. just a small idea that never got anywhere beyond few concept arts. There is another mystery concept, which is actually not technically dropped-I cannot say to much, because I keep that secret, because it tie ins with both Elydra and Beyond terrestrial, where I may leave easter eggs toward more, than directly tell that story (I'll die of age before I get to this point anyways, because I would had to finish both beyond terrestrial and Elydra).
It's lil too bad FA don't have group-community feature like older DA had, if so I may would had made a worldbuilding community group thing. But since that is not a thing in here, I did make a worldbuilding group in Pillowfort (for those who are in there). So feel free to share-reblog your worldbuilding art in there.

Hoi springtime

I so far been enjoying using Fa for my art. I really have missed something like this since DA shit the bed.
The typical SoMe isn't fully for me and art posting always. I prefer old school gallery sites (where ui designs isn't too typical current day "phone/app" like, I kinda loather that too). I like a inbox page where things are neatly organized from fave to comments ect. No endless scrolling, I just sometime prefer having thumbnails and click to take a better look one at a time, it give more room to comment, fave and take time to actually look at it, instead mindless hurry scrolling toward next thing. Also Love the folder system on gallery, I so need it!. I just find it fun to organize my stuff proper.
There is also another thing, I feel sites like this feel more open to comment/interact with older art pieces. It's also so much more easier to navigate and find. Basically more life span on art in here.
Been nice springtime is arriving here now. Winter been kinda not the best this time (with funeral before the holidays- I'm okay, just not the most "jolly" thing basically. Also seasonally low energy and all that, plus hand been acting out in pain here and there more).
But I have been distracting myself with comic making during that time. I started posting it online this month over here: https://mirra.thecomicseries.com/ .
I completed chapter 1, so this will gradually roll out. And I hope now to draw other things forward (need a break from that one haha, starting to miss colors in a way).
Is so many other worldbuilding stuff I wanna do with too!.

Hi, is a new egg here!
Posted a year agoHi, I recently made this account, I have been considering making an account for my art in here for a while after the DA became full of bad toward artists. I just been digitally exhausted and didn't have energy to do this until now. I do like FA have folders and gallery management, and is already a bit familiar with that, so functionally works for me well there, (I love managing gallery and such after all).
I will probably aim to post mostly fantasy, characters and creatures and worldbuilding art in here.
I won't be posting fan art, even though may be some people knowing me from ye old DA days for that. I simply always wanted to work on my own fantasy stuff to begin with, and I am leaving more and more fan art behind. I am not getting younger, my hand and eyes cannot draw as much as I used to, and my mind is still so vast with ideas.
This is also why I don't do art requests or commissions so much anymore, I simply don't reach for that. So a heads up, please don't nag on me if I can draw this and that on the comment section, I simply cannot do this, and specially not for total strangers, who are solely fishing for free art.
Also please no drama/fighting postin on the comments either, I am too "elderly" and frail and have no mental energy left for dealing for such.
Comments are otherwise More than welcome!.
