We all know how well my ideas go. Usually down the pan. But the other day I managed to get a decent looking cover on my small earthbound cachet sketchbook and was wondering... would people buy them? A very good friend of mine,  burningbrightly, is going through a hard spot at the moment. Her mother is waiting on test results that could mean she has lung cancer, a disease that has already taken three of her family away.

I never really liked the old thing that much. Yeah I had a couple, but they always looked derpy to me. And the gem-eyed ones freaked me the fuck out. The new thing? It's much more pleasing to my eye. I find the animation smooth and delicious, the details fun and the ideas lovely.

YES it's a thing for children, but ffs how many people like OTHER kid's things out there? Seriously.

So there's been a couple of genuine suicides lately.

One thing that's annoyed me to no end -aside from the LOLFAKE shit- is the fact that people who commit suicide are branded as selfish or weak.

I'm sorry but no. It takes a fuckload of courage to kill yourself.

I can say so because I've been there, several times, but never had the backbone to go through with it. I've been in a place where it's felt like I was the problem and the only solution would be to remove myself from everything. That way I'd no longer be a concern. I wouldn't be another mouth to feed, a child to burden someone, a failure of a person.

The "they're weak" crowd pisses me off the most. Not everyone is able to crawl out of a depression rut. Not everyone is able to just shrug off feelings that return day after day after day. You try spending every day in tears for no reason, being too afraid to go tell your doctor because you'd become some sort of center of attention.

I don't condone it, but I don't slander the people either.

So I'm watching the new King Kong and I decide I need to go to the garage to get some icecream. It's dark because at my aunt's I can't figure out how to turn the lights on in there, but the outside motion-triggered light fills it just enough to see to the freezer.

As I'm looking for the switch, I see something hanging from the roof. It's small, maybe an inch or so in length and made of a papery substance.

Brain immediately goes to wasp and, as it's looking patchy and is surrounded by cobwebs and empty, I pluck it down.

It is a beautiful, if not a bit tatty, little thing and you can see the little hexagonal cells inside, of which there's about four.

It looks kinda like these, so I'm guessing it was a solitary wasp nest. The differences are the outer shell only comes two-thirds down and the bottom of the bell tapers down a bit before the opening hole.

Still, awesomest find.
