For now... working time as I have a lovely 1 meter(3feet) stack of paperwork that gathered itself and none of my lazy ass colleagues felt like working on.

chandraken
I wasn't able to sleep AT ALL last night, so I was really off to a good start today.
Every time, the night before I went somewhere, whether it was Puerto Rico, AC or now the UK, I just can't get any sleep. Annoying.
On the bright side, the Eurostar (reallllly fast train) rides rather smooth, so I was able to catch up on some sleep there.
Arriving there, I started searching for Chandraken but couldn't find her anywhere.
Walked around for half an hour but she eventually found me.
Being tall seems to be an advantage after all.
There's a whole story as to why she was a bit late, but go read that in her journal.

First impression:

Either way, we went to search for some food and ended up having this quite big ice cream sundae. But tasty! No complaints there, the ice cream was great!
Getting there was a whole different thing though. The London Underground is something like a huuuuuge maze. Maybe it just takes some getting used to, but that place is so damn complicated. x_X
If I didn't knew any better, I'd say the whole the place is one quake away from collapsing into a sinkhole the size of London itself.
Going to Camden Town, the whole thing just became more interesting.
I've been on markets before, but that place is indescribable.
Never before have I seen so many shops, stores, food stands and what not clustered together. And clothes. So many clothes you could cover a football stadium twice over if you'd sew them together. You would probably have half a ton of clothing left.
Quite amazing.
In general, the people seem to be very nice and kind, unlike what I see here in Belgium, so that was a sort of culture shock to me as well... although that's probably because Coco cheats. So unfair. >___>
We ended the day by getting something to eat at Mc Donalds.
All in all, I had a great day.
I didn't really check how many people had a "wtf" look on their face since we were just talking out loud and being 'energentic, as Chandraken posted in her journal.
If I had, I'm sure I'd have counted quite a few.
Also, THE funniest part would be the fact that I was nearly hit by a motorcycle when walking out of the station. THIS is directly Coco's fault as she's such a hardcore jaywalker. The worst part would be that I brought chocolates for her and totally forgot to give them. ._______.
Don't bother calling me an idiot or a dumbass.
My mom just finished throwing every possible synonym for the word "idiot" at me.
I'm still open for suggestions for a new (furry) (side)character -> CLICK MEEEEEEE <-

In the wake of "The 2010 Event"...
General | Posted 15 years ago...I seem to be waking up ever so slightly.
Tried my hand at drawing random things again and tried to get my scanner back online. Once that thing start working again, I'll scan in some of the AC scribbles I made and post them. It's only two or three drawings which I'll never finish but I'll post them anyways.
Things have been happening in my slightly disorganized mindspace lately.
Seeing not a whole lot of people like drawing Xenomorphs, I figured I could try and make a furry side character. That was Exequias can stay what he's meant to be and pour everything else into said furball.
My initial idea is an Anubian, but reptiles, birdies, feesh and any other species can do juuuust fine, given the right motivation.
I'm open for suggestions as to what character suits me best, so feel free to do so.
If you don't know me very well, praise yourself lucky and just say whatever you think suits me.
Suggestions so far:
Exe: Anubian or Aardwolf
Ta-ek: Quagga or Striped Hyena
Hoofer: Demon Quagga
Cazron: Horned Lizard or Armadillo Lizard
Draconian: A shark thingy
Scrubs is too addictive. I started watching this series one week before AC and right now I just finished Season 7, Episode 9. Weird.
It's quite fun though.
Anywho... What actually started as just another conversation, turned into something I didn't really except to ever happen. At all.
It appears that I made a quite impulsive decision. Looking at the tickets, I can confirm that I'm going on a daytrip to the UK and hang out with Chandraken
Now see, I've searched the local store a few days ago, but never found a so called 'banoffee pie'... and since Chandraken there claims this stuff is amazing, I have got to have some of that pie.
If there's a news report about martial law being declared in the city of London, it means I didn't find the pie. Just FYI.
On to the next topic.

Have a pleasant 8 hours flight to New york where I'll have to wait for another 4 hours before taking a 2 hour flight to Pittsburgh.
There I'll be waiting for

So yeah... I have a fun 17-18 hours trip ahead of me, given minimal delays, before I'll arrive at the Westin.
Well, assuming my plane didn't go for a dive in the Atlantic after a flock of suicidal birds clogged up the engines, that is.
Maybe open up requests and trades again. Maybe.
Not very likely, but maybe.

I'm gonna call this a case of Terminal Art Block.
I haven't been able to draw anything remotely decent in the last month , not on paper nor with a tablet.
It's annoying to say the least, but I can't even draw a simple sketchy base or stick figure without erasing it in disgust.
Sorry if you were on the list, but I don't think I'll be making more art anytime soon.
I'm gonna start over and draw at my own leisure, taking my time and dealing with this stuff. x_x

You hold them on your skin, dab the back of the paper with some water and voila. Instant tattoo.
I think I have 2 or 3 (A4 / Letter sized) pages of tattoo paper left and itwould be a shame to just throw them away.
Interested in walking around with some ink glued to your face (or somewhere else)?
All I really need is a picture and the size of what you want. If it's a small thingy, you can obviously ask for more than one.
I would prefer that, when you send something, it's not a fuzzy sketch as the printers I have available aren't exactly quality stuff. Nice, clean, high res lineart usually gives the best results. Regular black and white art are the easiest to deal with, but colored art should work too.
Either note me with a link or reply here in the thread. Either way is fine with me.

Of all the things that can go wrong, this is something I didn't expect at all.
The day started pretty well though. Almost weekend and not too much work that needs being done.
And then I get a call from the financial department. Apparently they've made a "little mistake".
Okay, so far so good, I can deal with little mistakes.
Now, what they call a "little mistake" is the fact they've put my paycheck on the wrong paygrade... for the last 5 fucking years.
So all this time they've been paying me too much and today they told me they want that money back.
They said it we'll have a meeting with the directors and financial staff to work out a payment plan.
But despite the person's friendly voice, it was NOT very fun to hear I have to pay back a little less than 8000USD.
I'm not very happy right now.
In fact, I think I feel kinda sad. .__.

General | Posted 16 years agoSo as said in an earlier journal, I managed to get a room in the Westin for the duration of the con. I'm sharing a bed with Sullenlust which means there's a whole bed available for the taking.
We'll both arrive on the 22nd of June but due to the nature of international travel, I won't be arriving there until 6PM. Chances are it'll be much later if shit hits the fan and flights get delayed.
Like most people though, we'll leave the room on the 28th... most likely around 10AM, so make sure you're ready when it's go time. I don't know what floors will be assigned to us, but I can guarantee you it will take A FUCKING LONG TIME if you wanna take an elevator that day. xD
Price: 20$ (USD) a night. For payment, see below.

3) Keeping the room clean and taking a shower once a day is required. I don't want smelly, sweaty people... no one does.
4)Be considerate of your roomies. Let the sleepers sleep and keep the noise down. It's okay to take some 'private time' if you need it... but don't overdo it.
5) Payment goes through Paypal (note me for that) or upon arrival at the con. If you do not pay me, you're not getting in the room. Fair is fair.
6) I'd rather have you NOT use room service. There's plenty of shops to buy drinks and food by simply crossing the street.

I'm still 'busy' taking a break and plan on doing so for a little while longer.
I DO have some decent ideas to work with so once I get back to drawing, I'll probably won't have to take another break anytime soon... I guess... Maybe... Or something like that.
ANYWAYS. Three topics.
Games:
I started by break with getting Mass Effect 2 while waiting for AVP to arrive, I was in desperate need of a break and the game came in handy. Good game, still plan on replaying it a few more times, but not anytime soon.
Reason being I managed to get my hands on AVP, which was for sale a whole week sooner than it's official release date here. I'm not a reviewer and bigtime biased towards the whole setting/universe, so all I can really say is that I love it.
The single player was rather short but satisfying. Multiplayer is obviously where a big part of the game is at and so far, it hasn't let me down. Controls and melee is rather clunky and really needs some getting used to.
Art:
Not a whole lot to say. AVP got me sorta motivated to not change my xenosona (long story, boring) and, as said earlier, gave me some ideas to draw. Other than that... there's not a lot to talk about.
AC:
So I plan on attending AC again this year. Hopefully better than the last, but we'll see...
Now, I managed to get a room in the Westin for the duration of the whole con. I did receive a mail with confirmation from the hotel, but I'm still waiting for the bill of my creditcard.

I DO have some decent ideas to work with so once I get back to drawing, I'll probably won't have to take another break anytime soon... I guess... Maybe... Or something like that.
ANYWAYS. Three topics.
Games:
I started by break with getting Mass Effect 2 while waiting for AVP to arrive, I was in desperate need of a break and the game came in handy. Good game, still plan on replaying it a few more times, but not anytime soon.
Reason being I managed to get my hands on AVP, which was for sale a whole week sooner than it's official release date here. I'm not a reviewer and bigtime biased towards the whole setting/universe, so all I can really say is that I love it.
The single player was rather short but satisfying. Multiplayer is obviously where a big part of the game is at and so far, it hasn't let me down. Controls and melee is rather clunky and really needs some getting used to.
Art:
Not a whole lot to say. AVP got me sorta motivated to not change my xenosona (long story, boring) and, as said earlier, gave me some ideas to draw. Other than that... there's not a lot to talk about.
AC:
So I plan on attending AC again this year. Hopefully better than the last, but we'll see...
Now, I managed to get a room in the Westin for the duration of the whole con. I did receive a mail with confirmation from the hotel, but I'm still waiting for the bill of my creditcard.

General | Posted 16 years agoAs predicted, this will be a shitty year once again AND to prove it, my computer decided to roll over and die on the morning of Januari 2nd 2010. Apparently they're trying to catch up since 2009 began hating me a few months later.
Anyways, I have no idea what the issue is but chances are I'll lose everything on it.
I have no backup of anything (as the seperate HD I had got corrupted about 4 months ago)
Movies, music, programs and a load of unfinished drawing I will not start all over again.
Don't expect me back anytime soon, let alone post any art.
Only internet I have at the moment is whatever I can steal at work. Which isn't a whole lot given the security and monitoring they do.
Anyways, I have no idea what the issue is but chances are I'll lose everything on it.

Xbox 360 recommendations, please?
General | Posted 16 years agoSo I finally got a new 360 after the last one died a horrible death which shall not be described due to the grave nature and inhuman circumstances the poor thing met it's untimely demise. Most of the money I spend of getting the box and games came from the AC2010 stash, but meh. I'll see how to fill the gap or just cancel it alltogether.
So far these are all the games I have (old and new):
- Halo 3
- Gears of War
- Devil May Cry 4
- Ninety Nine Nights
- Crackdown
- Mass Effect
- (Insert one or two games I forgot here)
- Borderlands (new)
- Left 4 Dead 2 (new)
And these are what I have planned when I find some more spare moneys:
- Bayonetta (not released yet)
- Darksiders: Wrath of War (not released yet)
- AVP3 (not released yet - MUST HAVE, DUH)

To AC or not to AC...
General | Posted 16 years agoSo yeah, I'm currently trying to figure out whether or not I want to go to next year's AC. Coming over from Europe to attend isn't exactly cheap, but since I don't plan anything else for the rest of the year, it's manageable.
Let's recap.
Being my first con, the highlights of AC09 were Kage's show(s) and the fireworks. I attended a few more things, but other than that I was pretty much running around aimlessly and, at times, bored.
Like I said in an earlier journal: I hardly knew anyone and my roomies were spending the better part of their time selling stuff at Artist's Alley. Couple that with me being the antithesis of "pleasant company" and the very epitome of antisocial and... well... I'm sure you can figure out the rest yourself.
At this point, I don't see any reason to go.
If anyone is willing to give some pointers whether something like me should (or should not) attend, I'd be very, very grateful. <3
