Posted 12 years agoHeyo guys that actually read my stuff! Just thought I'd drop a little life update if you care to read.
So school ended and my grades came back. Made Dean's List for spring term AND brought my gpa high enough that I might still be in the honors program. No more straight up English classes. Anything else I take should be specific to scientific writing.
I started up on some biophysics research, but since school ended and work started up, I haven't really been able to do much with it.
I'm working at a water treatment plant over the summer, same as last year if you remember. Its a good job, and pays well for a college summer job. Been playing League and staying up late, too.
Now the important part. I met someone. We kinda saw each other once or twice in Redditfurs chat on steam, and were randomly put together one night in a skype call. Couple weeks later we started messaging more and hit it off really well. Long story short, boss_stubs and I are dating, and have been for a little time.
Other than that, I can't really think of anything major that's happened. It's just fun to write down what's been going on to let people read if they're interested.

So bored.
Posted 12 years agoSo I'm just kinda sitting here, bored on the train on my way to school and I figured, "I haven't posted a journal to FA in a while. Life update time!"
So for any of you who do not know, I am a freshman in college. I'm in a five year BS/MS program for Physics/Education. Freshamn year has been rather dull. Trudging through all the required 100 level courses is a pain.
Physics was fun at first. Getting to review all the mechanics stuff I already knew was neat, and I could help out my new friends or make quirky comments. I really liked the professor. Then we got into some new stuff: relativity. Blew my mind a little, but I eventually sorta wrapped around it. We did thermo at the beginning of this term, which I still do not entirely understand. Going to the end of the term in E&M. Can't wait.
As for coding classes, I've learned a bunch of new things. Python is so much fun. We use it for simulations, for examples in class, and basically anything physics we need. Or math. I use it as a calculator a lot. Maple is a really, really strong tool, but probably not a great program to use too often. C++ is a fun language, similar to Java which I mostly know.
However, my C++ class is godawful. It just drags on and on and on. Literally, 6 weeks into the course and we JUST learned conditionals? Great. I don't even bother going to lecture, because I can learn everything better on my own, or I already know it. Did I mention the prof doesn't even know C++?
English sucks. I've always hated it. Really not much else to say there.
Still have my job, working for the parks department in my township.
Have a big trip to look forward to this summer. Headed to the Czech Republic, with a day in Germany and finishing off with a day in Hungary. Not sure how much free time I'll have, but if any of you happen to live in any of those places, I would be happy to try to meet up :3.

I looked back and realize that some pretty big changes needed to be made, and then I just kinda.... removed a lot of people from my Skype list, mostly without reason or telling any of them it was happening. This is my apology journal, and also a journal letting you know that if you feel you should be back on my contacts, go ahead and add me.
I'm leaving this open to you because I totally understand if I managed to hurt you by removing you out of the blue: I know how it feels and it was wrong. But I felt it necessary to change how I was acting online, and I felt that the best way to do it was to cut myself off from a lot of the people who associated me with who I was.
I feel that I have changed, and hope that you accept this apology.

DNS Issues
Posted 13 years agoSomeone please help me before I end up throwing my laptop out the window of a moving train. Or something. I bought a new one, so it's not a big deal if I can't get this one to work, though the new one isn't supposed to get here for a little while longer.
Anyway, story goes like this: laptop turns on, connects to wifi, loads some web pages, and then DNS issues happen. It won't load the DNS server or something like that. Skype works just fine, I still have wifi, I just can't load web pages because of the stupid DNS not loading. I've tried manually entering Google's DNS server into the network settings, and I ran a scan for the optimal DNS server. The default is best, according to that, and I have set to default.
Malware Byte's scan returned nothing. I guess I could run an MSE scan too, but I don't think that'll do much good either. Any and all help is much appreciated.
