Another passing
Posted 8 years agoIt's been a while since I last wrote - time just flew by.
Last November I helped in a small way bring the first CanFURence to Ottawa.
2016 also was marked by so many familiar persons in popular culture leaving us.
Just last week, one of the furs who also helped with CanFURence died. Everyone who knew MetaLuna, either from CanFURence staff or from the fandom, mourned their passing.
Today, I found out about the passing of another well known member of the fandom, Gene Catlow (Albert Temple). I can't say that I personally knew him, but reading the webcomic of the adventures of Gene Catlow was a highlight of my day. I will miss him.
For more details on Gene's death, you can read here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8120166

CanFURence and things, and Pawprints in the Rain
Posted 9 years agoBeen a while since I wrote here - busy spring.
April saw Pawprints in the Rain, another event like Pawprints in the Snow, and it was a big success too.
Now just starting to think about CanFURence - this is the new con that will be held in Ottawa, 11 November 2016 through 13 November 2016, at the Alt Hotel in downtown Ottawa.
Details on pricing and availability of rooms will be made public soon, but keep those dates in mind. If you'd like to come early or stay after the con, you'll be able to stay at the Alt at the same rate for a few days before and/or after.

Pawprints in the Snow, and a new Con!
Posted 10 years agoWell, that was a great event.
We had a great event, and very well attended. There was everything that you could ask for, plenty of furs, great vendors, and activities.
Fursuit games, fursuit dance competition, and great DJ's.
Frederic the Husky and all his helpers kept great food coming out from the kitchen (just ask Arc about bacon-bacon-bacon-bacon-bacon-bacon-bacon-bacon-bacon-cheeseburgers).
Here's a great video from ArcticSkyWolf of what you missed Pawprints2016
And of course, after a lot of hard effort, the cat is out of the bag.
Well, a Squynx actually.
CanFURence is not just a bunch of furs from Ottawa and beyond, but a bunch of furs from Ottawa and beyond who will be organizing a new Canadian convention.
Details are still TBA, but it will be in Ottawa, this October 2016 (plus or minus). Keep an eye on our website, http://www.canfurence.ca, for more information as it becomes available.
We'll be working hard to create a con to remember, and other Pawprints in the lead up to CanFURence the convention.
Stay fuzzy, my friends.

No, but I will probably have my ears and tail on, I might also cosplay.
Which suit(s) will you be bringing?
if I cosplay, I'll probably be a highland elf.

Do you do trades?
We could talk.

Can I buy you drinks?
In moderation, of course.
Can I give you stuff?
Sure, but nothing too extravagant
Are you nice?
Oh yes, probably too nice.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Liath should get my attention (the Gaelic pronunciation is like "leah", but "liath" will work too).
What/where will you be eating?
At Pawprints during the event - there's food from our own cafe under the direction of frederichusky.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Well, sure.

No sketchbook, but I would love to receive any sketches you'd care to offer.
Can I take your picture?
I'm kind of shy, maybe once I get a fursuit.
What's your goal(s) for the event this year?
Have fun, help make the event a great success, and meet new people.
Anything else?
Come to Pawprints in the Snow - there isn't a better way to start the new year.

Pawprints in the Snow
Posted 10 years agoIf you're in Ottawa (in Canada, you know, where Justin Trudeau lives) on January 2nd, 2016, and wondering what to do, you should check out "Pawprints in the Snow".
See this Quyet Pawz post for all the details: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7243481/
Fursuiting & costuming, dance, vendors, gaming and more, hosted by a very nice bunch of furs.
Fun with fur - what more could you ask for?

Invaders Story
Posted 10 years agoThis started off as a quick story on the theme of video games.
It crossed over to a situation mentioned in some of the Chakat Universe stories where colony worlds would be effectively sabotaged for the gain of unscrupulous commercial entities. Some anthros don't take that kind of thing lying down.
Hope you'll enjoy it.

Wolf Warriors
Posted 11 years agoSo many things to keep me busy, I don't often seem to find the time to put much on here.
Today is an exception. From time to time I find time to do a little writing. You'll find one of my stories on the Chakats Den, more of my works in progress on the Chakat Heaven Yahoo Group, and I will try to find time to put some of them on here.
Problem is, I think I write like an engineer - which isn't such a bad thing usually, since that is what I am.
Every so often, which pleases me immensely, someone likes my fiction enough that they think it doesn't sound like a technical report.
You may have guessed that I feel a kinship to wolves - hence my fursona. A while back I wrote a story with a sci-fi setting with genetically enhanced wolves as the primary characters. There were also a few jokes about Canadians, and hockey, and other stuff - because, well, I'm Canadian too, so that also make sense.
I'm happy to say that my story is getting published, as a real paper book (not a run of millions, it is print-on-demand, but still actual paper in the end) and is also available for the Kindle. The book is an anthology in support of Wolf Watchers, a charity that advocates on behalf of wolf conservation - there's a lot of great stories, poetry and art in the anthology, and one story from me.
The creators donated their works to the charity, the profits all go to helping wolves.
So, if you're wolfish, or a fan of wolves, I'd suggest you check out this book on Createspace at https://www.createspace.com/5031688 or search for "Wolf Warriors" on Amazon.
Raise a howl for the wolves among us, and a Tail High for the Chakats.
