To those playing "Name that Fuzz"
Posted 10 years agoIn case you somehow missed my shenanigans:
I've made a game called "Name that Fuzz" because I know so few suiters names.
The fur who correctly identifies the most suiters wins a full color portrait from me. There's still time to play! And I'm now announcing that second prize will get a full color bust from me.
So, go have a gander at my flood of fursuiter pics from ANE and please help me figure out who everyone is.
I'm going to bed now, but I will tally up all the points on Monday morning and announce the winners then!
Thank you all so so much for helping me out by playing the name game with me!!
Good night you lovely fluffs!

Get your galoshes ready- ANE 2015
Posted 10 years agoI figure I should probably announce a proper flood warning, since I've finally gotten most of my photos from Anthro New England all ready to go. (I took an absurd amount of pictures during the con, although I so wish I had a faster lens, because far too many of them ended up past the point of usable blur. T-T)
That being said, I will be posting everything that I think isn't *entirely* useless because I think all of those lovely suiters deserve every picture they get taken of them. Suiting takes some serious stamina!
I'll initially post all of them in the main gallery, but after a week or so all but the best photos will be moved over to scraps land, since I'd like to keep my gallery more about the arts. Although, perhaps if cons become a frequent adventure of mine then I'll create a separate account just for my photography. Hmm, I wonder what my photographer 'sona should be... Something with really big eyes, maybe something steam-punk or mech.. hmmm...
Anyway, I digress.
ANE was absolutely freakin' amazing!!
I went with my close friends
ironchef and
oceanicorcanda and was quite frankly a massive bundle of nerves leading up to the con. "What if no one talks to me? What if I get overwhelmed by the crowds? What if furs get weirded out by me being such a gung-ho newbie? What if, What if, What if?!"
My fears were absurdly misplaced. Furries are the best group I have ever had the pleasure to spend time with. Within minutes of arriving at the con I became fast friends with a couple furs over a game of Gloom and after successfully killing off
Prance 's family our group grew. So we moved on to a rousing game of Betrayal at House on the Hill Goodness to fuzz this was such an entertaining game. So many shenanigans were had.
After that was a dinner out in Braintree with the new fuzz-posse to meet a couple local furs who weren't able to make it to the con. After dinner I was too wound up to want to go to bed so I wandered down to the remaining wisps of the dance and started painting. Yeah, weird past-time I realize, but I love painting out where I can talk to people. And I met a very cool blue dragon who works in theater in RL. I think I snapped a blurr-ific phone photo of the painting before parting ways... I should really check on that...
Saturday, started with a nice long swim in the hotel pool with a rooftop view (amazing). And I actually made it to my first and only panel- which was furry writing 101 where I got a lot of great info on the furry writer's guild and some good tips on improving my work. After that I spent a ton of time either sketching or running around like a crazy roxxit with my camera. Nexus even let me help take some photos of the parade set-up, which was totally awesome! ^.^
After the manic photography occurred I even managed to catch a game of "Werewolves". Which if you have not played, it's kind of like mafia, but better. The dance competition was fantastic! I snagged a seat right up front so I got a great view of the action. The evening transitioned to food at the (mildly overpriced) hotel bar before the dancing began. And oh goodness, this is where I took a turn for the worst. Please note my signature form of dancing is somewhere between interpretative dance and waving my limbs about like an octopus. I now can confidently say it is a terrible form of dancing because I dislocated my knee in the process. oops. That little slip of the ligaments still has me down for the count. Some drama occurred between one of my fuzz-friends and a non-conventioneer in the hotel after I retreated to ice-pack land, but it was worked out pretty quickly by ANE staff. So mad props to the staff of this con!!
Sunday I took really easy, since my knee felt like it could pop right back out at any moment... But I do want to say thank you to
prance for being extra awesome and getting me some breakfast and ibuprofen. *hugs!* And a big thank you to everyfur who helped me get around on Sunday. Even though I was chair-bound of the day I still had an amazing time. Starting with art-time with
The_rabbits_soul, and then I planned out some ref sheets with
imnotwithreal and
skullkid214. The day ended far too soon with many hugs and fond farewells.
I cannot wait for my next chance to go to another fur con, although in the mean-time I have some really cool new friends to keep me sane.

Posted 10 years agoHere is my contribution to this month's Flash Fiction challenge!
The challenge is to write a short story in one sitting- no time for editing, hemming or hawing, just type it an share.
This month's work is inspired by this piece of photography by
Timid-Wolf http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12348756/
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
They found me.
I can hear the crashing of windows announcing their entrance into the living room.
I tie my sleeping bag around my shoulders like a silken hello kitty cape and sling my backpack over top. I can hear those frozen beasts scrambling through the kitchen, wreaking havoc on the last of my supplies. It won't take them long to get upstairs and claw the lock right off of my bedroom door. I turn to my window and press up on the sash, the endless winter wind rushes in with a swirl of snowflakes biting into me, despite my thick fur. With a shudder I clamber into the snow that is several feet thick. And with an awkward bound I make it to the edge of roof, the snow swirling around me obscuring the ground below.
Here goes. I wrap my hello kitty around me tighter and jump. For a breathless moment I feel suspended in a white void. Ice stinging my eyes and muzzle. Then with an unceremonious thump I hit the snow drift. Three story high window in this weather. No biggie. I roll down the pile and stagger through the storm towards the barn. I should have left so much sooner than than this.
I hear a chorus of roars erupt from the house behind me. They've caught my scent!
I push on through the thigh deep snow a little faster, my chest aches from the effort and the cold. The swirling clouds of snow thin momentarily and I can see my beautiful half collapsed barn peeking through at me. Hope and sadness join the fear pumping through my veins. As I struggle onwards flashes of my last visit cross my thoughts. My neighbor - Tanzar- and I arguing. Desperation sending us to each other's throats with claws extended. He had taken all of my gear to build our escape and failed to mention it would only lift out one of us. Our fight smashed through one too many of the support beams and when the roof collapsed, I was the only one who made it out.
Behind me I hear a howl - hardly muffled. They're in the yard.
I scramble to the leeward side of the barn and dig through the snow with my paws. I feel an edge of wood and lift on it with all my might. With a desperate shove I toss the board over and reveal my ice coated savior, the master piece of technology Tanzar hobbled together from chunks of heater and my old bike. Thank the gods. I risk a glance backwards, but all I can see is the thick curtain of snow. Only luck is going to get me away from these frozen beasts. I swing my pack down and scramble through it. My hand circles around the last of my energy cartridges. Quickly I lift it up while brushing off some of the snow coating the bike's frame with my other paw, searching. When I find the slot I I click the cartridge into place and the bike begins to wirr. The wheels spinning and heating up the ice coated to it. With a crack the frame spins on it's axis and it locks into it's grav-bike form. The wheels are spinning so fast that they look like disks floating beneath the seat. I pull my strap back up to my shoulder when something hits me from behind ripping through my precious hello kitty shield. I flip around swinging my heavy pack and smash the beast in the snout. It stuns him slightly causing the wolf to back up on his haunches. I quickly abandon my pack and jump up onto the heat bike. My frozen assailant snarls and springs forward just as I hit the ignition and send a blast of heat into his face, melting half of it to dripping nothingness. The bike thrusts forward through the remaining snow drift and with a spray of half melted snow my bike bursts out into the white wasteland.
I don't glance back to see if the beast is is pursuing me, too worried about being surprised from the front by an unseen obstacle. A collision at this speed would kill me. I pass by a mound with the tiniest bit of a chimney peeking through and realize Tanzar's house is lost for good. Shivering in the cold wind as it whips through me I realize, I have escaped this time, but where to?

Flash Fiction Writing Challange Feb 2015
Posted 10 years ago
graowf and I have been scheming about doing a group Flash Fiction Challange as a way to keep our creative writing cogs moving- and ideally to do it once a month. So here is our first ever flash fiction challenge!*rusty trumpets squeak out their excitement*
Here are the rules:
You have to write and post a piece inspired by this image: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12348756/ by Friday, February 27th, 2015. And then post your link to the comment section in the host's journal (that's me this month) and in the comments section for our inspiration image by
timid-wolf. The flash fiction can be prose, or a poem, and you are not limited by genre or length. You just have to write it down and share. Everyone is welcome to enter.

Flash Fiction Musings and The List
Posted 11 years ago Today's flash fiction friday!! I love flash fiction, it's the format that is finally getting me back into writing narrative fiction. You just sit down, bang something out, and release it into the world. As lumpy and deformed as it may be. lol
Back when I was in high school I would write short stories almost daily but I sort of fell out of practice when I went to college and once I joined the "work force" afterwards it got even worse. I wasn't even writing essays anymore! (Weird that I actually missed that). But now that I'm blogging regularly it's been helping me get past my block with narrative fiction. It feels so freaking good. I've been playing around with a piece specifically for FA- currently it's more along the lines of a poem. I'll post it once it's gained a little more meat.
Do you like reading flash fiction? Who on FA is known for their stories? I found a couple I like so far, but they seem to be harder to track down than visual artists. If you like horror fiction I just did a post on my blog that talks about where to find some of the better content: http://goo.gl/P5cg6o
And now, for The List:
Art I'm working on:
-NSFW couple for
oceanicorcanda - sketch is almost ready to send off for notes
- goo OC for
Fanvaizer research is done, sketch is started
- something random/awesome for
aagreen121 - entirely in my head at the moment.
Stuff I'm planning on doing next:
-Badge for ANE - which, if anyone wants me to bring one to them at ANE they'll be $10
- 'Sona hoodie shrug - I need to have ears for the con! And it's coming so soon!! 0.0
- plushie me badge - I want to use the scraps from my hoodie to make a keychain plushie of my 'sona.
- a proper ref sheet for my 'sona
- a new icon for myself
That's it for the time being.

I'm back and doing a lot of soul searching.
Posted 11 years agoI'm back from my trip to Savannah GA, and feeling super duper refreshed and ready to pretend the snow isn't happening. Which means - yay!- I have my beautiful tablet back in my paws! And as soon as I catch up up on some work-things I'm going on an art binge.
I will say that Savannah was absolutely amazing. And if you ever have the chance to visit you should do so. I went on a bunch of ghost tours and wandered around the city taking pictures of graveyards. I'm a horror blogger/vlogger in my other life. So anywhere I go I'm geeking out over any grim history or ghost stories I can find. Also, it was such a great experience to visit everything as press! Did you know that people will actually let bloggers take tours for free? I didn't, until this trip. It was making me feel so excited about the work I've been doing. But then, while I was away, I received an incredibly tempting job offer. One that was calling me back to my previous branch of film-making that had been turning out to be very unhealthy and unfulfilling. But this particular project was for a fancy big budget fantasy-esque film, and it's for a group of people I very much enjoy working with. So I was feeling torn. But then I started thinking about what I'm doing now with my artwork here, and blogging and my youtube channel and I realized- I don't want to give any of this up. Not even for the 6 months this project would take me away for. I'm not making nearly as much money as I used to, but I'm finally happy and doing the things I love without the constant coating of stress. So, I'm turning down the offer today- even though that probably means I'll be closing the door to that particular part of my life.
All of this career vs life drama has been fueling my life for a while now. I've been trying to move on from the style of film-making I was doing to find a healtier and more balanced existence. And I was mostly was happy to be doing something different, but there was a part of me that was feeling empty. I found my last missing piece here. I wanted to be expressing myself visually and feel connected to a community again. That was the main thing I loved about feature films. It was this massive group of people working together to make art that they cared about. But then the drive to make art was being replaced by the drive to keep busy and keep making money- it was easy to slip into with the rest of the work-a-holics. So now, instead of feeling like I have to work my soul away to feel valued and connected I've discovered that you guys make way better friends. And I've never felt anywhere that I've been so free to be entirely myself. All my weirdness is ok.
So, anyway, all this also got me thinking that it's silly that I haven't been sharing any of my random non-fur adventures here. If you've become so important to me already then why am I holding anything back? So, if you're interested I blog about horror over at www.horrormade.com, about art and design over on www.jeanette-art.blogspot.com. I also produce and perform in a bunch of horror stuff over on www.youtube.com/hauntingtelevision. Ha! You now know waaaay more about me than any of my non-fuzzy friends.

oceanicorcanda,
ironchef and myself had a lovely night out recently which wound us up at Jo-Ann Fabrics and me couponing the heck out of a fleece purchase. My plans? Oh just the cutest freaking 'sona shrug you'll ever see. Given that I don't mess up my arm holes... I always mess up my arm holes...
Anywho- my hope is to make a cute 'sona shrug with my ears and arm markings so I'll feel like I'm in my own skin for Anthro NE next month. I can't wait to get started on it!

Free art 5 slots
Posted 11 years agoI don't know how well this will be received, but I'm going to start doing commissions. I just can't get enough of of this art, and frankly, drawing self portraits all the time gets suuuuper boring. Also, it makes me feel like a massive narcissist, instead of just a medium one
Any hoo- I'm giving away my first 5 slots for free before getting into the monies part of it. So the first 5 people to respond to this post by commenting or sending me a note with their reference picture (s) will get a free piece of art.
Content would be your choice, I'm game to try anything. General, Fetish, NSFW. And up to three people in a piece. I just want to give it all a try. So take advantage.

Merry Christmas followers - I have presents for you
Posted 11 years agoMerry Christmas to you awesome people to watch me back. I wanted to thank you all for making me feel so welcome here on FA, even though I'm so new to the fandom. So, I hope I'm not being too presumptuous, but I sketched all your sonas as Xmas presents. However, I can't seem to upload any of them 😕, so I guess I'll be uploading them tomorrow night. But keep an eye out and I hope you all enjoy your festivities.
So Freakin' Excited!!!
Posted 11 years agoI just officially registered for my first con. And I am so excited! I'm going to Anthro New England with Qyunn and Devin! It's going to be so much fun.
I was out costume shopping (I'm production designing for a web-series right now) and every time I saw a bolt of white or black fur I started daydreaming about making my first suit. I may have ended up standing in the fur aisle for a little too long comparing the softness of furs at Joann's today. Lol. I didn't buy anything yet because I don't want to just jump in a buy some fur. But I did buy the black and white stripe tights I found. I definitely need to plan out how I'm going to build it all before getting into some bigger purchases though.
I'm thinking for this first con I'll go partial. My husband- although supportive of my new adventure- is still warming up to the concept of all this. Ears and a tail may need to be my first stepping stone. But those will end up being complicated enough. I have thoughts of LED spots blinking through my brain.
God I can't wait :-D
I was out costume shopping (I'm production designing for a web-series right now) and every time I saw a bolt of white or black fur I started daydreaming about making my first suit.
