Squeep Bio
Posted 9 years ago
Species: Squeep
Gender(s): Male/Female
Sentient: No
Appearance
Small rodent creatures, with features that are much like a flying squirrel and a rat.
Males and females are usually the same size, about 1ft in height with a length of about 3ft, including their tails. Excess flaps of skin connect all four of their limbs, enabling them to glide from high places using their tails as rudders. Known to have wide eyes and large ears.
Life
Squeeps are nocturnal, with their eyes adapted for dark settings. They live up high in trees and are solitary in nature. Their diet consists of insects, fruits, and nuts.
Their average life span is 7-8 years.
Mates and Breeding
A female in heat will call to males using loud chatters and chirps. Males will try to impress females with acrobatic glides, flips, and teeth clacking. Females care for the babies, with the males only sticking around until the young are born. This takes about 20-30 days. Males will bring food for the female during this time, assuring she has the best care for passing on his legacy.
Squeep babies, called kits, are always born in litters of 3.
Bekkin Bio
Posted 10 years ago
Species: Bekkin
Gender(s): Male/Female
Sentient: Yes
Appearance
The males average in height around 5'6 to 5'8 while females range from 4'9 to 5'4. Body structure is lean. Black scalera with only rings of color for eyes gives the Bekkin a unique look. Their eyes are built to see and find magical energies. Tails are very rare to have, with most Bekkin having only tufts on their rears. Tails, if any, are short and fluffy in nature. Long legs and wide feet makes these creatures good runners. The most notable feature of the Bekkin is their ears, which might as well double as extra hands. Much like the tail of a monkey, the Bekkins' ears are prehensile; allowing them to pick up an hold things.
Life
Bekkin live in large communities, usually watched over by a council of 10. The council is always split between males and females, to give the best options to all. Males are not greater than females, and vice versa. The communities are somewhat advanced, known for making tech devices that can hold and store raw magic. Those with the keenest eyes are sent out to find where raw magic collects, fill up the devices and bring them back to sell. While they can collect and store magic, the Bekkin themselves do not use it, preferring technology to such things. It is simply a cash crop to them.
Bekkin are omnivorous, their diet consisting of fish, poultry, nuts, fruits, berries, and certain grasses. Their systems cannot handle red meats and it can make them rather sick.
Bekkin young are called Kines or Kinlets, until they reach age 15 and become adults. They are also nameless, until age 8, when they choose their own name. Bekkin live anywhere from 40 to 50 years. As they grow older, their eye color will start to fade and they will slowly lose their ability to see magics. Bekkin reach senior status at age 30.
Mates and Breeding
Males do not have a visible scrotum, with everything stored inside a simple slit/nook down there. Females have a normal vaginal opening.
While casual sex is a thing, the Bekkin hold a giant celebration/ceremony once a year to find a mate. Food and drink are plenty, and many species besides the Bekkin look forward to it each year. It is a party held for all. While most Bekkin would choose other Bekkin for a mate, interspecies relationships are not uncommon. Some see it as merely a giant 'looking for sex' party, but it truly is important to most Bekkin, who hope to find a mate for life.
Females carry the young. Also unlike many species, Bekkin females are able to utilize the sperm of other species to become pregnant. Strangely enough however, this does not cause Bekkin hybrids. The female will simply give birth to another Bekkin. This has yet to be studied.
Meemer Bio
Posted 11 years ago
Species: Meemer
Gender(s): Male/Female
Sentient: No
Smallish creatures, about the size of a large cat. The are widely coveted as pets, known as the mammal equivalent of a fire lizard.
Usually muted in color with bright markings on the wings. The markings are used for attracting mates and confusing enemies, as they have reflective properties. Their usual muted colors helps them hide in trees and brush, flitting about and flashing their wings to try and confuse the senses.
Both male and female Meemers share the bright colorings and dance together in mating dances. A Female has up to two offspring at a the time. An infant's wings will not fully form until around 9-10 months old. The average life span of a Meemer is around 6 years.
Meemers prefer living in the trees, but some have been known to use abandoned ground burrows.
This is subject to change over time, but this is currently all that is known about the Meemers
Getyr Bio
Posted 12 years ago
Species: Getyr (Get-ear)
Gender(s): Male/Female/Herm
Sentient: Yes
Getyr, while known to live on their own, are commonly seen traveling with magic users as familiars. While they don't perform much magic on their own, they do have the ability to boost other magic user's magical powers.
Each one has a different mark that appears in one of their eyes, and matches some of their body markings.
They are lovers of shiny things, their marked eye able to pinpoint precious stones that would normally be hidden to the naked eye. This is also a highly sought after trait in them which can become negative as people looking for riches attempt to enslave the Getyr to find gems and other things. From what little magic they use, their marked eye also dictates what their special ability is, which can vary greatly.
The claw or talon on the end of their tail is mostly to help climb trees to get at fruit. Originally thought to be used for hunting, until a Getseer (a very rare type of Getyr, known for shockingly high magical abilites and able to speak any and all tongues) laughed at the scholars and explained otherwise. While normal Getyr can talk, it is via telepathy. When actual speaking from the mouth is usually along the lines of speaking like a parrot, repeating things they hear people say. If a Getyr accepts your invitation to become your familiar, you both can speak to one another via the telepathy.
Females have one set of horns, while males vary between 2 and 3 sets (the second and third sets being much smaller then the main set). Getyr like to adorn their horns with rings, baubles and other shiny pieces, showing off the best things they found. This is also thought to be apart of a hierarchy, as those with the most shinies tend to be more popular and respected.
Of course, fur colors vary, but tend to be more on the muted side of the spectrum, to help blend with their surroundings.
This is subject to change over time. But this is all that is known about the Groot at this current time
Gruut Bio
Posted 12 years ago
As Time goes on, I'm going to work on Fleshing Out my adoptable species
Species: Gruut [pronounced Groot]
Gender(s): Male/Female
Sentient: No.
Click for Reference
Gruuts are pretty much Corgi Gryphons, if you may, though their legs are a tad longer then a corgi's and they have tails lol. They're small, stout and cute :3
While all Gruuts vary in color, all of them have the tell tale white cheeks, chest and stomach, along with a white tail tip and inner ear. Besides that, their colors can be pretty wild.
Also, not all Gruuts are born with wings. The ones that are really have little use for them, for the wings are too small to support their body. Gruuts are known to squawk like parrots and also have the same speaking/learning ability that parrots do. Diet is omnivorous, so make sure to keep their food balanced. A full grown Gruut usually comes up to your knee, while they are about 3 1/2 feet in length, not including tail. Their eyes, which seem to possess no visible pupil, are always two toned, the top of the iris being dark and then lightening up to the bottom. Some speculate that they are partially colorblind, like a dog, but it's still just a speculation.
This is subject to change over time. But this is all that is known about the Gruut at this current time
Berkek Bio
Posted 12 years ago
Species Name: Berkek
Gender(s): Male/Female
Sentient: To an Extent
The Berkek were one of the first adoptables I ever came up with.
Appearance
Strong, thicker back legs with a 'heel claw' made for rock climbing. Primarily white fur with a spectrum of different colored markings ranging from stripes to spots. As they grow old, around the 27 yr mark, their main fur color will being to darken and/or fade until their deaths. The white will slowly fade to dark grey. Both males and females have double sets of ears, with males having a third "ear". Their double ears allow them a better range of hearing and sensing of enemies. Males have longer, scruffier fur than females. All possess back spikes that run down to the tail, with males having larger spikes over the females.
Life
The Berkek live in rocky outcrops and around mountains, much like the mountain goats. They have a thick heel claw on their feet, making it easier to grip the crumbling rocks. Their diet consists of some forms of grasses, and whatever fruit they can find. Some are known to be omnivorous, but it's still rare to see them eat meat. If an enemy is near by, a watcher lets out a a high pitched dog whistle like sound to alert others.
The Berkek are semi-sentinent, meaning they have a language and can understand things like how to make fire or weapons etc etc, living in small groups of around 10 or so. Male to female ratio varies. They're known to speak mostly in a sign language or with chipped vocalizations. They do have the ability to learn languages and other simple tasks and the like. Some say their learning ability goes up to about that of a 6 yr old. They are usually friendly to outsiders, curious to their looks or if they carry unique or fun items on them. They can and will live in caves. Some of them tend to find a cozy niche in the rocks or on the side of mountains to bed down.
Berkek usually live about 30-40 yrs. They do celebrate birthdays, but in the way that everyone is celebrated, because everyone helped the child come into the world. So everyone will pass out hand made gifts of woven grass, whittled sticks or really pretty rocks they found. Most gifts go to the birthday Berkek, but the birthday Berkek will also give presents to his/her mother and father as thank yous for them being able to be born.
Mates and Breeding
The Berkek are live bearers, having 1 offspring at a time. Babies do not grow their spikes or extra ears until at least 2 years old, or when they are mature enough to leave the parent. The females go into a "heat" once every 2 yrs, usually around the time their previous offspring are young adults. Like humans, they are also known to copulate for pleasure. The Berkek don't have Mates. They all help or work with each other. A female's heat will make males compete for her, but only by showing off themselves to the female or by bringing her the most unique or eye-catching gift. In the end, she chooses who she wants. After copulation, males go on their merry ways to find any other willing female. Males help the females through their pregnancy, whether it was them that got her pregnant or not. In fact, the whole 'tribe' will help their pregnant females. It's a new life to be celebrated to them pretty much.
Some Berkek are known to have inter-species relationships, but usually not for love. It'd mostly be a strictly sex.
Berkek usually live about 30-40 yrs.
