So I haven't been around much...
Posted 15 years agoWell, more than usual. 8D After 2 years of steady unemployment, I finally found a job. The transition has been really difficult, since I've always been something of an agoraphobic hermit and not being employed spoils me rotten. Not that I don't love this job, it's about as perfect as I'm going to get and the majority of the people are great (even though, in my experience, it only takes one asshole to ruin it).
Anyway, this is mostly here to remind myself I have 2 projects to work on currently: a bag for my new laptop (my partner got me for my birthday, widescreen so it doesn't fit in my old bag), and an updated ref sheet (old ref is old, and I'd like to make it a little more body-type accurate and better detailed as to his facial structure) because I have money now and OMG I HAVE BEEN JONESING FOR COMMISSIONS FOR LIKE EVER. It's been 9 months since I got even a single icon T__T ::sniffle::
Yah that's about it.
Oh and my reaction to Black & White is the same as my reaction to any pokemon game, which is to squeal like a teenage girl at a boy band concert and flail about wildly in anticipation. Pissing in my cheerios will not be tolerated.

Custom Pokewalker Cases
Posted 15 years agoLater (not right now because it's 3am and I already tried making one out of leather and my fingers are bleeeeeeeeeedingggggggg) I am totally going to be making cases for my pokewalkers. I was wondering if anybody else would be interested, I could try making a few. Just out of materials I have around the house, so your choices would be stuff like denim, fleece, leather that is thinner than the cowhide I tried earlier (if I can find it) heck it can be mink if you really wanted it to be but I wouldn't recommend having that in your pocket. 8D I'm sure I have a few different types of cloth buried in my art supplies, but I don't want to make a whole lot of noise atm digging through it. If you're interested I can give you better details later.
Basically when I brought home HG and SS I was checking out the pokewalkers and I noticed that the front is one solid piece of plastic (because I initially thought I might customize the walker itself) and I know that in a month of use, I will scratch the hell out of it if it's just sitting in my pocket unprotected. And there's no repairing that. I don't really trust using the clip, I'll either break it off entirely or catch it on something and rip it off my pants. (I am accident prone)
The idea is that it be whatever material, and then I have some clear plastic so there's a window to the walker screen. Here's the prototype http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....alkerproto.jpg PLEASE keep in mind it's nowhere near perfect because it is just a prototype, I did it by hand because my grandparents are asleep downstairs and that means no sewing machine. Then there'd be a snap or some type of clasp (I'm pretty sure I have snaps though) in the back to keep in closed. I chose the leather that I did because the back is quite soft suede. I can still press the buttons through it individually, and there's a hole in the bottom for the IR.
Cloth ones would be a base cost of like $5 plain, but I could jazz 'em up a bit with fabric paint (I have metallic paints) to look like other pokeballs. We'll have to see about leather, I'm not sure if my sewing machine can handle it. I have some unusual stuff like ostrich and frog (yes frog) but that's probably super thick. I dunno I'm thinking and typing at the same time. ¦D
WHAT DO YOU THINK? Even if you're just vaguely interested but want to see better examples let me know. Otherwise I just might only make two for myself and not bother with more. ¦D

Jirachi at Gamestop starts this weekend in US
Posted 15 years agoJust a friendly reminder, and a quick correction. Earlier in the month Bulbapedia reported that the Jirachi event at Gamestop began on the 26th, which I put in my previous journal. However they have now corrected the date to be the 27th. It runs until March 13.
Man I don't even think I'm going to be able to make it this weekend. I mean, its two weeks, but I prefer going on the first day so I don't have to worry about it. XD
updated article:
"The official Pokémon site has reported that Jirachi will be given out by American GameStop stores from Feb. 27 to March 13.
The level 5 Jirachi will be distributed in a Cherish Ball. It will also hold a Liechi Berry and a Classic Ribbon. It will come with the moves Wish, Confusion, Rest and Draco Meteor, the last of which is a move it cannot learn normally. After obtaining it from Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, players may send it to the upcoming games Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Doing so will allow them to to send it to their Pokéwalker in order to unlock Night Sky's Edge."

Jirachi at Gamestop!
Posted 16 years agoFrom Bulbapedia:
The same Jirachi given away in Japan last year will be distributed in American GameStop stores from Feb. 26 through March 13, approximately two weeks after the Pikachu-colored Pichu distribution ends.
This special Jirachi knows the move Draco Meteor and holds a Liechi Berry. It is caught in a Cherish Ball at level 5. When traded to Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, then to the Pokéwalker, the special area "Night Sky's Edge" will be unlocked.
HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released stateside March 14, the day after the distribution ends.
I dislike Gamestop distributions, because you don't get any swag like you do with TRU. I WANT MY CRAPPY TINY POSTER AND/OR STICKERS DAMMIT.
Oh yah, I thought I'd also mention, if you have a Japanese version of any of the games (DPPtHGSS ... lol) you can get a Mew over WiFi. Only Japanese versions though, I checked. XD

New pokemon!
Posted 16 years agoCONFIRMED FOR GEN V
From Bulbapedia:
"The Pokémon Company announced today that a brand-new Pokémon RPG is set to be released later this year for the Nintendo DS. The original press release, along with Junichi Masuda's Blog entry on the announcement, have now both been translated by Bulbagarden webmaster Archaic. Given the mention of new Pokémon being included, and the statements that these games will be an "inventive rebirth" of the series and that the staff are "doing their best to exceed every Pokémon game before now", it would now appear that this is indeed an announcement for a fifth generation of main series games as was first speculated. This would be an interesting turn for the series to take, as two generations have never shared the primary console; while Generation II could be played on a regular Game Boy, it was designed with the Game Boy Color in mind.
The February 2010 edition of CoroCoro, due out in only a few weeks, is set to reveal a "surprising announcement", which will be related to this game, as well as the upcoming Pokémon movie, Phantom Ruler Z. In addition, we now know that the episode of Pokémon Sunday to be broadcast on February 7th will include an appearance from Junichi Masada himself, though no specific details have been released about what may be released here as of yet. With no Generation V Pokémon yet revealed, this would make for the shortest amount of time between the revelation of a brand-new Pokémon and its debut in the main series should these games be Generation V. "

I'm actually having a hard time being excited, as I'm still waiting for HGSS. XD Sort of like... ok guys, maybe too many games in too short a period of time? I dunno. Maybe I'm just tired. XD
ALSO! Don't forget to go to Gamestop tomorrow for your shiny Pichu! You'll need it for HGSS. :3

Arceus at Toys R Us!
Posted 16 years agoFrom Bulbapedia:
"Nintendo Power has revealed the Arceus event dates for players of the American versions of the Pokémon games Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. The event will take place Nov. 7-15 at Toys "R" Us stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. The event will be distributed via Mystery Gift, similar to all previous Generation IV distributions.
Following the trend of most event Pokémon released outside Japan, the Arceus to be distributed will most likely be the same as the ones first distributed this year. If this would be the case, it would be in a Cherish Ball at level 100. It would hold the Rowap Berry and a Classic Ribbon, and it would know the moves Roar of Time, Spacial Rend, Shadow Force and Judgment, the signature moves of Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and itself, respectively. Bringing the Arceus to the the Ruins of Alph in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver later on will allow players to unlock an event that will allow them to obtain a level 1 Dialga, Palkia or Giratina."
OH MAN, GONNA GET 3 ARCEUS. TEEHEEHEE. Too bad it's like a month away, I put an alarm on my phone for that day so hopefully I won't forget. ^^;

Oaks Letter! Sept. 28!
Posted 16 years agoFrom Bulbapedia:
"After the conclusion of the Member Card's distribution last Sept. 13, Pokemon.com announced recently that players of the North American version of Pokémon Platinum will be able to obtain the key item Oak's Letter from Sept. 28 to Nov. 8. Similar to the distribution of the Secret Key and the Member Card, Oak's Letter can be downloaded via Wi-Fi using the Mystery Gift feature.
Oak's Letter allows players to meet Professor Oak at Route 224, where a path will lead them to the legendary Pokémon Shaymin at Flower Paradise. It will be at level 30 with the moves Growth, Magical Leaf, Leech Seed and Synthesis.
Similar to Shaymin distributed at Nintendo events, players can take the Shaymin from Flower Paradise to Floaroma Town to receive the Gracidea that will enable it to change into its Sky Forme."
Weeeeeeeeeee :D Also Pokemon.com and Pokemonplatinum.com have been releasing info on Arceus, so it's likely we'll be getting it some time after the Shaymin event is complete. No confirmation on that, just speculating. :3

Ohh shiiiii- Member Card + Wifi = Darkrai Encounter
Posted 16 years agoFrom Bulbapedia:
The Member Card, an event-only key item that allows players to go to Newmoon Island to encounter the legendary Darkrai, will be distributed via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection from Aug. 3 to Sept. 13. This is the first time it will be distributed to players of the North American version of Pokémon Platinum.
In order to obtain Darkrai, players must have unlocked the National Pokédex in their Platinum game. They must have also approached Cresselia on Fullmoon Island and obtain the Lunar Wing when she leaves.
The Member Card can then be used outside the Harbor Inn in Canalave City. Upon entering, players will encounter a man who will send them sleeping. They will then wake up on Newmoon Island where a Level 50 Darkrai will be available. It will know the moves Hypnosis, Faint Attack, Nightmare and Double Team. The event can be repeated if ever players fled or defeated Darkrai.
OH CRAP GOTTA START PLAYING PLATINUM
Yes I've had it since the release party, and I've only gone as far as to get the sinnoh dex so I could get Rotom's key. 8D;;

Wanna trade volbeats?
Posted 16 years agoEDIT: Nevermind, Hayley actually deposited 4 illumise because I went nuts and dumped a few hundred the other day XD So now I have enough. :3
I don't do a heck of a lot of breeding, so I pretty much just learned the fact that you have a better chance of breeding different pokemon (within the same breeding groups) if the trainer id is different.
I need to come up with 10 each volbeat and illumise for Ranch, and it's faster to breed them than catching in D/P (10% chance, bleh) so I'd appreciate somebody trading either one with me.
They're both lvl 50 since they were caught in pearl.
Now I just have to figure out how to come up with 20 pikachu D: (also 10% but can't breed argh)
Name: Blaine
Code: 4038 8702 9610
And if you missed my last post, Secret Key gifting starts this weekend! :D

Updated My Etsy Shop
Posted 16 years agoI finally got around to listing all my Froot Poops, plus I've added a bunch of jewelry that I haven't posted here.
It's really hard for me to sell things this cheaply, because we're talking like $1-2 an hour for how long it takes me to make things like this. But they're just taking up space, and I'd like to get rid of them.
Shop
Feel free to leave any suggestions for crafts you might like to see for sale in the future.

A sad state of affairs
Posted 16 years agoMy inspiration generally waxes and wanes like a crack-addled moon, and even on a good day my muse tends to hate me. But right now I'm pretty stressed out so it's worse than usual.
I wrote this gigantic novel, but I've just deleted it so I can try and sum it up instead. Basically the state has decided I owe them a ton of money (I think it's like 5k) that there's no way I can pay back, and I shouldn't owe the money in the first place so I'm probably going to have to go to court and junk. And the likelihood of me winning the case depends entirely upon the honesty of other people. Which means I'm most likely well and truly fucked. Right now though I have to play the waiting game, and not knowing what is going to happen is driving me (more) insane.
I'm attempting to focus on my partner's birthday this weekend (the 8th) because god knows he doesn't need me moping around. I'm making his cake today (he comes to pick me up on Thursdays) and I am compelled to do something awesome/hilarious. You'll probably see photos later unless I ruin it. I didn't get him anything particularly expensive (and now I'm glad I didn't) but hopefully the silly level is high enough to make up for my inadequacy.
Don't forget! Regigigas event starts this Sunday (yes I am still dragging him to TRU on his birthday).

AHHH SHAYMIN
Posted 16 years agoSomehow I managed to miss the fact that they're giving away Shaymin at TRU this week D: D: D: D: D: Thankfully there's still a day left so I won't miss out. I happen to be directly across the street from a TRU currently, except I only have Pearl on me and will have to go back to my partner's house for Diamond >__< (I am praying with all my heart that it is actually there in my backpack and not somewhere in my room where I won't be returning until Sunday evening >__<;;; ). So I won't really be able to get Shaymin until tomorrow. Well... maybe I'll go twice, just in case. XD;;
And what the heck is up with only having a week for Shaymin, but two for Regigigas? (which will be in March, in case you aren't aware)
Also I really hate when they do event stuff only to have another the next day. Platinum pre-orders start the 15th. >:C Ah well, I really don't need that Giratina figure ¦D (OH GOD YES I DO Kaiyodo figures are amazing).
I will go be a spazz elsewhere now. ~~~¦D

So I think I want to start a comic
Posted 16 years agoTechnically it's already been started, in that I've already written the whole thing. Writing's the easy part, it's the drawing that gets me every time.
Also technically it's 2-3 comics. One story follows one character, the second follows another in the same setting (though not the same story, it just takes place at the same time and the characters all know each other, there will be some crossover of what's going on but they'll both be stand-alone). The third is pretty much a PWP involving some of the characters. I might not do that one. Either way the first two will also involve hot hot lovin's, but that's not the focus.
The reason I wrote them is because I have an asston of characters that I've written over the past decade or so and don't use anymore. I feel bad for neglecting them, so what I've done is ripped them from their original plot lines, and put them all in one setting - a University. They are now students and faculty. Most of them will be background cameos, with only a few being the main focus.
The first thing I want to do, however, before I start drawing, is to create (in most cases, re-create) ref sheets for the main characters. So if I manage to complete that task, I will move on to the comic itself. This is mostly because I'm awful at being consistent with character designs, and this way I'll have concrete refs to go back to.
Basically I'm just writing this journal so that if I do go forward with my ideas, you'll know what's going on with the sudden influx of "new" character sheets. And that you won't be surprised if/when the comic gets a bit dirty. XD I'm also going to tell you right now that none of these are straight pairings. There are straight characters, but they're not the focus. And I am not going to apologize for any of the nonsense that I write. It will probably be cliche and weird. You were warned. XD
My primary goal with this is to complete an art project within a story. I've never been able to do this, mostly because all my previous projects that I'm ripping these guys from were like, multiple-novel-length story lines that got too daunting and out of control. These however have a very clear beginning, middle, and end. So the comic will include characters from Felissa's Story, Naresome, and various RPG things. I will be changing a few things, mostly terrible names, a few personalities, but the designs will essentially be the same.
Also because this is already written, if I start the comic but then end up wanting to tear out my eyes and fling myself off the nearest cliff rather than finish, I can still post the rest of the story so people will at least know how it ended. XD (One of my pet peeves is people who start comics and then fall off the face of the planet leaving the rest of us hanging)
The secondary goal is to do one of these stories on my block of 11x17" Blueline Pro Comic Book Art Board. I have 36 virgin sheets of this stuff, it was probably expensive, which means I've always been terrified to use it. I'm going to be sketching everything out on regular paper first, since I have no idea how many pages this will end up being, and pick the one that'll fit on the 36 sheets. Hopefully I won't have to find more. :/ (I have no problem using both sides ¬_¬ )
I'm also leaving the option open to possibly sell them on CDs when I'm done. So what I will be doing is putting the comics here in my gallery in B&W, and then offering the full-colour on the CD. Probably for cheap, depending on the interest (more interest, less $$). But that's nothing to really worry about until they're actually finished. This is by no means a primary goal, since I'm doing this pretty much entirely for me.
Ok I'm done now. If you actually made it through all that, I salute you. X3

Looking for OffCentaur
Posted 17 years agoAKA J Hosier, owned a farm in IA, he'd commission clean art of the animals on his farm. I want to contact him about an old commission.
I've been looking for him, found a couple commissions he bought and some old profiles on card trading sites but nothing recent (only 1999, 2000). Email used to be offcentaur (at) aol, which I tried but haven't received a response yet.
Is he still anywhere in the community, maybe under a different name?

If you're into Origami...
Posted 17 years agoI want to recommend this shop: Atelier Puupuu
I placed my order Jan 14th, and I just got my package from Japan. :) I ordered 8 diagrams, but they also sent me an extra diagram, plus a bunch of gorgeous paper in different sizes/colours!
The diagrams are well-drawn and detailed, plus in colour. The english isn't perfect, but as long as you can follow the pictures you'll be fine.
You can expect some more kusudama submissions from me in the near future. X3
I also recently bought the book "Modular Origami Polyhedra" a few days ago, and I'm not really happy with it. All black & white, and either I am missing something or they really aren't clear about how to assemble all the pieces. I think the instructions are really unclear in general. :B If you're going to do B&W diagrams, it should at least be made clear with grey shading which side of the paper you're working with. Just a really cheap feel to the whole book.
Also I would kill to find the diagram to this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/989632.....N04/1216249551
Can't find it anywhere.

Questing on Gaia
Posted 17 years agoI would never post this here except I am in a mad frenzy to get myself a Coal Sprite. Seriously, I am frothing at the mouth and can't sleep until I get one.
I'm currently trying a thread in the Charity/Quest forum, I'd appreciate any help with bumping, etc. I am running a bump contest for 5k.

That photo of me is so old ¦D but I haven't taken a new one in ages, and it works. :P
If I don't respond I've fallen asleep, I'm exhausted from my frenzy and the fact that I shoveled the driveway earlier. _3_ I think there's a blister forming on my thumb.

Etsy
Posted 17 years agoI've now set up shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=80283
Feedback regarding the shop setup and such is appreciated. 8D Being new to Etsy I have no clue what I'm doing. And a lot about the site is quite annoying to me (flat rate shipping, especially). I'm loath to put up the rest of the charms until I sell at least 2, since I took a nearly $5 hit on listing just the Christmas Trees. Yes that's good for 4 months, but still. :/

Commision/Trade Info
Posted 17 years agoTrades/commissions are currently closed indefinitely.
As far as subject matter, I prefer to keep things relatively vanilla. Cheesecake, light/romantic sex scenes are ok, but once it gets into stuff I would probably be thrown out of the house and disowned for I will say no. 8D

Ref sheets (flat colour): Start at $40 for front, back, and side views. Complex characters and/or more views will cost extra. I also prefer you give me some kind of body ref to go on so I can get the proportions you are looking for.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/860679/
One character and simple colour backgrounds are included in those prices, however detailed backgrounds/props as well as additional characters will need to be discussed.
I will only do your original characters in my own style. I'm more likely to accept your commission if you just give me a character ref sheet & a basic idea rather than every little detail. (unless you are commissioning a ref sheet, in which case I will ask for every last detail down to the number of hairs on his/her big toe. Not really. But still.) Revisions will only be done in the initial sketch stage unless I really screw something up. For digital work you will get the high-res file as well as a resized. You may only post the work in your own gallery/journal, while the character is yours the art is still mine so you are not allowed to sell prints, etc. You can make a print of digital work for yourself, as I don't have the means to do so for you.

I can do custom ponies/toys. That will have to be discussed at length and the price will depend on what I have to buy plus complexity and time spent.

Small clay charms, bonsai trees, and other sculpey things we can also discuss. Charms start at $5 for simple designs but can go up based on complexity. Bonsai trees start at $40 and can go up pretty drastically based on size/complexity. I also can't 100% guarantee that nothing will break during shipping, so insurance is mandatory.

Trades:
I will also do trades. If I am watching you, chances are I would be more than willing to trade. If not, it won't hurt to ask (unless you're easily insulted by rejection). I will always accept 100x100 avatar trades with anybody. Well, once anyway. If you ask every other day I will start getting cranky. :P Art is also not the only thing I'll trade for. Music, metalwork, shiny things, just ask.
I do not do requests.

Shadows of Almia
Posted 17 years agoFirst off, I was off seeing my partner for the weekend. I didn't bother bringing my laptop, so I was internet-less for three days. Upon signing into FA, I was greeted by nearly a thousand submissions and journals. 8D So... I definitely skimmed. If I missed something you wanted me to see, let me know. |D
But yah, I picked up the new Ranger. Now I never touched the first one, it didn't really appeal to me and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money just for a manaphy. |3 But we were at TRU, and they were having a BOGO on the Neopets plush, AND they had a ton of the limited/strawberries so I bought enough to pay for getting Shadows after I sell 'em on ebay. |D
I have to say, it took a little getting used to the gameplay. My feverish packrat nature means I generally like to hold on to things, and the whole using pokemon once then they run off thing bugs me. XD I've made it as far as completing the first Top Ranger mission. I am enjoying myself. I mean, it's not exactly awe inspiring, but I also haven't chucked my DS through any solid objects so I think I'm doing ok. XD The story is pretty typical Pokemon fare, Bad Guys doing Bad Things involving Pokemon. XD I won't spoil anything for anybody though. :3
If you like Pokemon, I'd say you should get it. That is my $0.02 :3

Got my dragonites <3
Posted 17 years agoI'm pretty sad it's got a set nature/gender though. :c I was hoping for a male and female pair but it's only male.
I also pulled a super dumb and was on the phone with my partner double-checking which game you get manaphy from (since they give you that $5 off coupon) and he's like "you may as well hold off until the next game comes out", and I ask him when that is WHILE HOLDING THE SHADOWS OF ALMIA POSTER.
Too bad the coupon is only good this weekend. Talk about pressuring you into an impulse buy. :P I didn't get anything.

Timelapse art videos
Posted 17 years agoBear with me, I'm still figuring this stuff out. |D But I decided to try recording me working on art. I've been testing the past two days, still having trouble figuring out how not to have giant file sizes but have at least decent quality (if you're familiar at all with CamStudio, or just recording codec settings, I would appreciate any help |D)
Part one: Inking over the sketch (2:31)
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v.....=rapidash1.flv
Part two: Refining ink (7:08)
http://video.google.com/videoplay?d.....1915&hl=en
Part three: color (7:56- do yourself a favour and change the size to original, it defaults to fitting the window and it's AWFUL.)
http://video.google.com/videoplay?d.....4398&hl=en
For future videos, I'll be trying to add music so it's not so boring. Right now I can't get Windows Movie Maker to work without immediately crashing. I thought I had something better, but I must have uninstalled it due to lack of use.
I am so done with these pokemon. DX

Toys R Us: Get a Dragonite this weekend!
Posted 17 years agoThis weekend (Nov 8, 9) from 12-4pm Toys R Us in the USA and PR is having a Pokemon event. They're giving away lvl 50 Dragonites, you can get more info from www.pokemon.com
My rides keep bailing on me though. Is there anybody in the eastern MA area going who wouldn't mind a quiet, inconspicuous nerd tagging along? |D
Also: is there somebody here randomly IMing me? Cuz if I dunno who you are I'm not going to say anything if you don't introduce yourself. 8D;;;; I am shy and not particularly chatty.

Wall O Badge
Posted 17 years agoMostly just to get the huge journal off my front page |D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....badgewall4.jpg
Most of the traditional commission pieces I've bought. It's difficult to get a good photo, they're in an alcove of sorts (it's the only place I'm allowed to hang things) so I can't back up far enough. I feel a little bad I haven't been able to afford framing for those few larger ones yet. Hopefully when I finally find a steady job I'll get that done along with having prints made of the digital stuff so I can hang those as well.
Augh and I just realized there was another Blaine plushie in that basket I forgot to move so it could be seen. XD Well, you can see his feet anyway.

How my characters came to be.
Posted 17 years agoSomebody posted a journal yesterday (I'm sorry, I don't remember who) asking where people got the inspiration for their fursona's. I thought my answer would be a bit too long, so I didn't bother. But today I was thinking that maybe I'd write it here anyway for posterity. It's a bit tl:dr 8D
The very first character I created was Felissa. She first appeared in Jr High (a million years ago) as an anime-style tiger catgirl. Yes anime was, like many, my gateway drug into furry. I do have a few images from that time, but I won't bother sharing as they are highly referenced from artists I adored at the time (Robert DeJesus, Fred Perry, Kosuke Fujishima) I don't really remember exactly why or when I stopped that and started really fleshing out her character, giving her a real story. I do know it was High School, and that around that time I also got a Furnation account (it's still there, I haven't updated it in three years, I've been debating giving it an overhaul). That's really when I started being very active and meeting people online. I was very adept at finding new artists who were giving away free art. |D That's how I met Kai aka Slyferret.
She was instrumental in the creation of both Blaine and Aidan. Aidan came first, oddly enough. She had created this universe where small elf/fae creatures who were also part animals lived. They were called Talasiths, they had mostly elfin features (human-like, HUGE pointy ears), with a few animal characteristics (patches of fur, tails). There was a form you filled out with various info, and she drew Aidan for the first time from the info I gave her. Then she invited her friends and anyone she had created a Talasith for to join in a round-robin RPG (we'd each write a section of story and then pass it on to the next person). We were free to create our backstory within her rules and also to create NPCS. That's how Blaine came to be. Blaine's parents owned a bakery, his mother was a sloth talasith, his father was a jackal talasith (the story of how they met involves pirates, a ransom, and eloping |3). They adopted Aidan when his family was killed by a badger (they're very small, only a few inches high, so they could fall prey to larger animals and such).
Here's the first-ever drawings of both Aidan and Blaine: (done by me. Please, please, PLEASE keep in mind that these are at least a decade old ^^;;;;; )
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....ndressedup.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....ine/Blaine.jpg
Eventually the RPG died, and I tried taking the characters into other games that people from the old group were running, but none of them ever really took off, plus I was now in college and having an emotional/identity crisis. There was also a lot of weird drama, and since most of the people involved were a few years younger than me, I though it'd be for the best for me to cut out. Blaine and Aidan switched places too, because I was just so very drawn to Blaine, while Aidan is really very distant. I still consider Aidan to be something of an NPC.
I recycled them a couple times, first as humans, then I started playing Star Wars: Galaxies and wrote them as the two characters I was playing (they were both Twi'leks, there's an image in my gallery that I need to finish of the two of them). For kicks, here's human Blaine from 2002 (the pose could possibly be referenced from somewhere, but I don't remember. There are reasons why I don't post any really old shit in my gallery |D)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....necrateclr.jpg
At this point, I pretty much stopped drawing/writing anything for Felissa, since I've seen more than enough red-headed, green-eyed tigresses to last me a lifetime. She's been mostly shelved ever since, and if I do revamp my site, it's not going to revolve around her anymore. I use the name though, since it's fairly unique and variants of Blaine are often taken. If I'm not going by Felissa I'll go by BlaineMuffin.
The very first fully-furry Blaine appeared at the end of 2003. I had really missed him being a part of my life, so I drew a quick sketch on a post-it. I looked at it, and I was instantly just... well it felt right. Except I never really did anything with it because the guy I was dating at the time was just NOT open to the idea. So the first real reference sheet didn't show up until we broke up a few years later. Then the current ref sheet, the finished design I'm totally happy with, showed up mid-2006. I didn't create the ref sheet for Aidan until the beginning of 2007.
So while Blaine has been a character I've identified with for a decade, he didn't become my representation (or fursona, if you will) until fairly recently.
These are just my main/important characters, I've got an asston of lesser characters that I won't mention. I do have sort of an idea to draw a comic in which they all appear or at least make a cameo. It'd be alternate universe, mostly revolve around Blaine and Aidan, maybe a little porn but mostly story (that's usually how I roll). The likelihood of this happening is not good, though. I tend to have project ADD, so small ideas are so much more likely to be finished than big ones.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed my novel. 8D Feel free to share your experiences in a comment, or write your own novel/journal if you haven't already.
EDIT: You know I didn't really explain about the scar. Blaine has a fairly sizeable scar that runs from (his) right side of his face down his chest and ends on his stomach. This is a sort of symbolic extension of my scars. I scar VERY easily and I have some sort of anti-Wolverine-like healing, thus I am pretty much covered in them. Rather than him ending up looking like a Chinese crested in scar tissue, I just gave him one big one. Where it starts on his face actually matches a surgical scar on my own. I know a lot of people find scars to be cliche, but hey, tell that to my face. No, literally. I'd love for them go to away. :P
