2/11/20 - February UI Update
General | Posted 6 years agoFA+ News
FA+ is active! We've had great support so far with quite a bit of interest and people joining. We want to thank everyone for their support.
You can sign up for FA plus here:
https://www.furaffinity.net/plus/
We're also prepping a new server to specifically handle thumbnails upload and generation. This will greatly help improve the upload process, as well as allow us to finally increase the resolution size limit on images.
January UI Update Notes
BBCode: Fixed an issue where header tags did not have noticeable differences between header 3, 4, or 5.
Browse: Submission previews are restored when clicking the info button over thumbnails. The icons have been hidden on mobile due to space/formatting issues.
Gallery: Folders are now visible on mobile view (folders are located after the gallery).
Journals: The journal list now properly shows when managing journals (allowing you to edit/delete them better on mobile).
Menu: Reorganized the notifications so they appear in the same order that they do in the message center (watches, comments, favorites, journals).
Menu: Renamed “Edit User Page Info” to “Edit Profile”. This page contains more settings than just the user page so it’s been updated to reflect that.
Menu (Desktop): Removed a minor delay on the drop down menu bars.
Menu (Desktop): Changed option spacing to help those on lower resolutions.
Message Center: Moved message center options (select all, remove selected, nuke) to the top.
Message Center: Fixed journal link on the nav bar. Will properly link to the journal section now.
Message Center (Notes): Removed bolding on the notes lit.
Message Center (Notes): Mobile notes are now slightly less annoying to use. More improvements are slated to be made.
Message Center (Notifications): Moved button options to the top and improved placement on mobile.
Message Center (Notifications): Made the nuke buttons less angry.
Theme: Light theme has been greatly improved.
Theme: Retro now has a more FA Classic feel to it.
Theme: All themes have had minor adjustments based on user feedback.
Settings: Fixed white space issues on mobile/tablet view.
Submissions: Changed submission titles on mobile (they will no longer be cut off).
Submissions: Fixed an issue with readability on stories (mobile).
Submissions: Prev/Next buttons have been added to the submission action bar.
UI (General): Slightly adjusted sidebar spacing.
UI (General): Added more white space to UI elements to give the site room to breathe.
UI (General): Made adjustments to commenting templates
UI (General): Improved styling on links provided by users (in profiles, journals, submissions, comments, and notes) to stand out more. We’ve also removed the paw left over from beta. While we know many people enjoyed the paw icon, it could cause some linking issues in certain cases when using bbcode markup.
User Page: Restored user page was missing categories such as Watchers/Watched.
User Page: Fixed consistency in banner colors when browsing various tabs.
User Page: Journal Headers/Footers now appear on the user page.
User Page: Separated large previews for the featured submission and the latest upload.
User Page: Fixed an issue that was causing clipping on profiles in mobile.
User Page: Gallery previews restored on submissions for the user gallery and favorites.
Other: Various fixes, tweaks, and improvements.
12/31/19 - Site Update, Coding, FA+, Logo, Privacy Policy
General | Posted 6 years agoSite UI Update
Happy new year eve! We figured we'd start 2020 off right by introducing Fur Affinity’s brand new site design.
The beta site design has been in development for some time and has gone through various iterations and changes in development. We’ve listened to your suggestions and incorporated vast amounts of user feedback into the final release. Additionally, we’ll be rolling out new features and making incremental improvements to the design over time.
Designed with mobile, tablet, and desktop devices in mind, the new UI allows for a much smoother and modern site experience regardless of your device.
The site update contains three new themes:
- Dark (Crisp platforms of cool gray on top of an icy black background).
- Light (For fans of lighter displays, this lighter theme is eye-pleasing and subtle -- no robin's egg blue this time, we promise!)
- Slate (The colors of the Beta UI you’ve grown to love with new blue text headers to match our new logo featuring Fender).
- Aurora (A fresh interface reflecting the splendor of the aurora borealis passing through).
- Retro (The tried and true colors of FA’s Classic Dark UI have been sampled for a nostalgic feel of familiarity across our new layout).
Not a fan of the new UI? No worries, you can swap back to the Classic UI at any time by visiting Account Settings. Please note that the Classic UI is being retired, will no longer receive updates, fixes, or improvements.
Issues with the new UI? Please report them via Trouble Ticket under "User Interface".
New Coding Staff
We’ve brought on additional staff to rewrite and modernize Fur Affinity. They are currently working on laying down the groundwork, and we will provide a roadmap once they’ve had time to get acclimated.
Fur Affinity Plus (FA+)
Ever wanted to help contribute to Fur Affinity? Now you can! FA+ offers you the chance to directly support the site and get a few perks in the process.
Why FA+? A website of Fur Affinity’s size needs resources (such as web developers, servers, bandwidth, and licensing costs). Those can cost quite a bit of money. While FA is owned by IMVU, we’re still run as a small independent site and need additional funding to secure long term improvements.
We decided to take a straightforward approach - help us and snag a few bonuses! We don’t want to straddle the site with more ads than necessary, and other monetization methods tend to be annoying, frustrating, or offer less than ideal experiences. That’s not something we want. Instead, we’d like to extend the opportunity for perks to those who enjoy using the site and want to support it directly.
What it is: FA+ members get a spiffy icon which appears next to their name to show their support. In addition, FA+ members can opt-out of third party advertising.
FA+ is for people who want to support Fur Affinity. Money raised via FA+ will go towards helping offset coding and development costs and to help us acquire new, better and more powerful servers. We will not be limiting current site features for users who do not choose to subscribe.
The cost? Just $5 a month. You can help support the site directly through PayPal through a subscription to FA+, and you can cancel at any time at www.furaffinity.net/plus or by following the menu link under your username!
Issues or concerns with FA+? Feel free to open a ticket under the "FA+" category.
New Logo
We’ve updated our logo with a new design by

We’ve updated our privacy in accordance with CCPA. We’ve updated the wording on the California Privacy Rights section have added a new one (Verification and Response).
10/8/19 - Recent DDOS Attacks
General | Posted 6 years agoYou may have noticed an increase in unexpected downtime on Fur Affinity lately. Over the past month we have been the target of dozens of DDOS attacks.
Nobody likes downtime, so we are working hand in hand with our host to mitigate and block the source of these attacks. DDOS attacks are not uncommon, and even major networks with vast resources contend with DDOS on a regular basis.
A DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack is when a network or computer botnet targets a website and floods it with more data than it can handle, saturating its connection to the point where it prevents legitimate data from passing back and forth from the site. A DDOS doesn't compromise any of your personal information nor any account security. It’s the equivalent of a digital traffic jam.
Due to the nature of how a DDOS works finding the source of the attacks is near impossible.
Generally, we are able to mitigate and brush off these attacks with minimal issue. Recent DDOS attacks managed to bypass Cloudflare’s DDOS protection resulting in unexpected downtime.
We want to make sure you, the community, are aware of the reasons for the outages and know we’re working to prevent them. DDOS mitigation is not failproof, and we are working to ensure minimal disruption to the community. We have already taken measures to mitigate future DDOSes, and will take further steps in the future as needed if they continue and persist.

9/4/19 - Help Page + Site Policy Updates
General | Posted 6 years agoWe have added a Help and Support section to the site (found under the Support dropdown).
In addition, we have updated both the Code of Conduct and the Upload Policy.
NEW POLICY - Code of Conduct, Section 1.4 - Do not encourage or engage in animal cruelty.
While you may openly debate the validity of current laws, you may not promote, encourage, engage in, plan, post or link to content or activities that may constitute animal cruelty, or anything that could be used as directions for committing animal cruelty. Animal cruelty includes, but is not limited to: Torturing or beating an animal, confining or transporting an animal in a way that is inappropriate for its welfare, killing an animal in an inhumane manner, failing to provide appropriate or adequate food or water for an animal, failing to provide appropriate treatment for disease or injury, and failing to provide appropriate living conditions.
REVISED POLICY - Code of Conduct, Section 2.4 - Do not harass anyone.
In this context, harassment includes creating an account with an offensive name, impersonation of another user, and remarks which discuss personal grievances, quarrels, malicious rumors, negative statements about, purposefully misgendering or deadnaming other individuals, and attempting to address or contact a user who has blocked you or whom you have blocked, including soliciting other users to pass on messages or otherwise make contact on your behalf. This does not include civil discussions about topics of public interest such as celebrities or government officials, but does include 'bewares' and similar content. If a particular type of content does not appeal to you, then do not seek it out to make disparaging comments. Users with a pattern of this behavior may be cited for harassment.
REVISED POLICY - Upload Policy, Section 3.3 - Indecent Photography
Photography depicting nudity or physical contact with nudity (exposed buttocks, breasts, bulges, outlines of genitalia, etc.), indecently-clothed models (undergarments, diapers, lingerie, etc.) is prohibited. Exceptions may be made for swimsuits worn in public locations, such as a pool or beach, but not activities such as breastfeeding.
REVISED POLICY - Upload Policy, Section 1.1. Ratings:
General-Rated Content Guidelines:
Nudity - Free of nudity of any kind, as well as outlines of genitalia, sheaths, female nipples, or detailed/exaggerated bulges. Nudity is defined as the open display of genitalia or exposed female areola or nipples.
(Note: This revision is a minor tweak to a previous policy and only applies to the General rating).
In addition, we have updated both the Code of Conduct and the Upload Policy.

7/18/19 - Site Outage & Removal of Old Notifications
General | Posted 6 years agoFur Affinity recently experienced an outage which caused certain queries to become interlocked. When this happened, it resulted in our database becoming unresponsive. To correct this issue, we backed up the database, rebuilt the database, and reimported the data.
To help expedite this process, we removed unread notifications which were older than a year, and will continue to do so from this point on. Notifications are the numbers that appear at the top right of the website (and, when you click them, in the shown list) letting you know when you have new submissions, journals, etc. to review. This decision was made due to the amount of space unread notifications take up in the database.
No content or relevant data has been lost due to this outage.

5/23/19 - Introducing the Shinies Tipping System
General | Posted 6 years agohttps://d.facdn.net/media/journals/.....unch-promo.pngIn our ongoing efforts to provide features and services we are excited to share the news that users now have the ability to tip artists without ever leaving Fur Affinity.
We know the love and appreciation shown by community members means the world to the talented artists, animators, composers, writers (etc) that make FA the vibrant community that it is. But let’s face it - love and appreciation doesn’t pay the rent! So the team here at Fur Affinity set about trying to find a way to make an even bigger difference in the lives of creators contributing to Fur Affinity, a way to tip the scales for the amazing individuals whose work brightens our day.
Shinies (short for "shiny objects") are the currency of our tipping system. The value of each shiny is set at just $5, allowing you to easily show your appreciation and support to members of the Fur Affinity community. For supporters it allows you to easily send tips to help encourage your favorite creators by sending them a handful of shinies. For creators, it allows a simple integrated tool to help monetize your content on Fur Affinity.
With the help of PayPal, integrating into Shinies is easy! Sign up, associate your PayPal account, and you’ll be on your way to helping your favorite creators in no time. Best of all, Fur Affinity doesn’t take a cut of your tips. Your tips go directly to your favorite artist (less any PayPal fees, if applicable).
FAQ
Q: Does FA take a cut of the tips?
A: We do not. PayPal does, however, charge their standard fees for all transactions, but we do not take a cut of the tip. Your money is your money!
Q: How do you use the system?
A: To start sending and receiving shinies all you have to do is add your PayPal address via the Account Settings page.
Q: How much are shinies worth?
A: Shinies are valued at increments of $5.
Q: Why call them “shinies?”
A: Animals and people tend to be attracted to shiny objects. What better way to reward your favorite artist or a friend with a handful of shiny things?
Q: How many can you tip at a time?
A: You can send as many shinies as you want! There no limit to the amount you can send another user.
Q: How do I enable Shinies?
A: Shinies are disabled by default. Simply head over to your Account Settings to access your Shinies Settings.
Q: I enabled Shinies so why I don’t see it on my profile?
A: The “Send User Shinies” box doesn’t display to you on your own profile, but once you get a tip you’ll see the supporter sections displayed.
Q: Why can’t I send somebody shinies without logging in?
A: Your PayPal info needs to be linked to your account in order to send shinies, so you have to be logged in to send them.
Q: Can I send tips anonymously?
A: Yes! You can mark your tip as anonymous. Anonymous tips do not count towards the top tippers. Please be aware your email may not be private as the transaction will be P2P (person to person). A user tipping you may be able to derive your personal email.
Q: Can creators send private thank you notes to those that contribute?
A: Of course! And we encourage you to thank your tippers! Just send your tipper a polite shout or a note and give them your thanks.
Q: Is PayPal aware of this system?
A: Yes. We consulted PayPal directly while developing the system.
Q: Who's that fancy fellow with the stylish hat?
A: Wizard Cat. He makes the site go... or not go. Cats can be tricky like that. We can assure you, however, that if you have something that needs to be knocked onto the floor he's got a spell that'll get it there in one or more pieces.

5/25/18 - Site Policies Updated
General | Posted 7 years agoLike most sites, Fur Affinity is updating our policies to be in compliance with the EU’s GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). These changes are effective as of today. You may review them here:
Terms of Service
Privacy Policy - New
Code of Conduct
Upload Policy
We are dedicated to respecting your privacy and the security of your personal information. The updates to our Privacy Policy provide more transparency and about the data we collect about you, how it is used, and with whom it is shared.
We will be working on offering additional tools to help protect your privacy over the next few months.
The Terms of Service has been modified. Changes of note:
- the minimum age to use the site in the EU has been raised to 16
- we have moved privacy-specific items from the Terms of Service to the new Privacy Policy.
We have moved conduct-specific items from our Terms of Service into our Code of Conduct. The changes are listed below in bold.
2.4 - Do not harass anyone.
In this context, harassment includes creating an account with an offensive name, impersonation of another user, and remarks which discuss personal grievances, quarrels, malicious rumors, or negative statements about other individuals. This does not include civil discussions about topics of public interest such as celebrities or government officials, but does include 'bewares' and similar content.
Any attempt to address a user who has blocked you or whom you have blocked is considered a form of deliberate harassment. This also includes soliciting other users to pass on messages or otherwise make contact on your behalf.
If a particular type of content does not appeal to you, then do not seek it out to make disparaging comments. Users with a pattern of this behavior may be cited for harassment.
We have changed the name of the Acceptable Upload Policy to Upload Policy.
We have moved enforcement-specific language from our TOS to Code of Conduct, Section 4.4 and Upload Policy, Section 7.4.
#.4 During Suspension (Old)
While you are Temporarily Suspended, you are not permitted to access or create accounts on Fur Affinity. Doing so may result in the length of your current suspension being extended or changed to a Permanent Ban.
This policy has been changed to
#.4 - Blocks, Suspensions, and Bans (New)
If for any reason, your account is suspended, banned, restricted, blocked (via users), or otherwise disabled by Fur Affinity, you may not create another account with the intent to bypass these limitations without our permission. Any effort to evade these limitations yourself or on behalf of another user may result in a suspension or the length of your current suspension being extended or changed to a permanent ban. When permanently banned, you may not use Fur Affinity as a registered user nor create accounts.

5/15/18 - Fur Affinity COC 2.7 Updated
General | Posted 7 years agoAs the international community comes together in solidarity against hate, Fur Affinity has also evolved to strengthen and protect our own. As part of our efforts to combat hate, we announced a rule on September 4, 2017 that outright prohibits our users from identifying with or promoting hate groups on Fur Affinity:
(Current Rule) Code of Conduct, Section 2.7 - Do not identify with or promote hate groups and their ideologies.
A hate group is one that advocates and practices hatred, hostility, or violence towards members of a designated sector of society (e.g. Nazism, KKK, ISIS). Symbols specifically associated with these groups will not be permitted in user avatars, non-fictional content, or content intended solely to disrupt the community. Users who identify with or promote hate groups and their ideologies may be permanently banned from Fur Affinity without warning.
Since then, we have removed users from our website who openly identified with these ideologies or spread hate on Fur Affinity and we feel that our community has been bettered by our efforts thanks to your help. Continuing with this momentum, we have updated the rule to be more clear and include the alt-right and alt-furry groups:
(Updated Rule) Code of Conduct, Section 2.7 - Do not identify with or promote real hate or terrorist organizations and their ideologies.
A hate group is one that advocates and practices hatred, hostility, or violence towards members of a designated sector of society (e.g. Nazism, KKK, ISIS, Alt-Right). Symbols of hate associated with these groups (e.g. Swastika, Confederate Flag, etc.) will not be permitted in user avatars, real-life photographs (unless for historical education), and content intended solely to disrupt the community. Users who identify with or promote real hate or terrorist organizations and their ideologies may be permanently banned from Fur Affinity without warning.
We didn’t initially recognize the Alt-Right as a hate group since the movement was relatively new and made up of many different voices. As time has passed, it has been officially classified as a hate group by many reputable organizations who closely monitor hate and terrorist group activities. We have also identified many accounts and monitored numerous, coordinated activities rooted in spreading hate and furthering instability within the community through the use of our website - these accounts have now been closed. It has been determined that the Alt-Right majorly consists of white supremacists, neo-fascists, and other fringe hate groups. If you identify as or promote Alt-Right ideologies (e.g. Alt-Furry and Furry Raiders) on Fur Affinity, you may be permanently banned.
At this time, we could not find enough evidence to consider Antifa a hate group and what was provided appeared to be of false-equivalence. There has been voiced concern about their operations on Fur Affinity and we have and will continue to monitor and take action against any user who promotes or encourages illegal activites and violence on our website as per our rules. Concerning the Alt-Left, there is no evidence one exists, and the Alt-Light or New Right has specifically distanced themselves from the Alt-Right and openly rejected hate and identity politics.
In most circumstances, no. We do not take action against users for off-site content unless a substantial and direct correlation can be made to an incident that is imminent or occurring on Fur Affinity or involves content that the user themselves have linked to from our website. Our main focus is being an art community. If you have an issue with what someone is saying or doing on another website (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, DeviantArt), please report it to that website’s help desk for assistance.
It is important to differentiate between real organizations and fictional ones such as Hydra (Marvel), COBRA (G.I. Joe), The Foot Clan (TMNT), or the Death Eaters (Harry Potter).
Fur Affinity provides a platform for our users to exchange ideas and works of art that include variety of different themes. We understand that some users may create content that is political, religious, or use themes that may be perceived as offensive. However, artistic expression that may be offensive to some users does not necessarily mean the content violates our rules. Indiana Jones would not be who he is without his greatest enemies. Maus would not be the tragic story it is without being able to show the horror.
Fictional expression should be differentiated from the committing of real life acts. If you believe that the content posted is not intended to be fictional, grossly promotes hate and violence against a group of people, or otherwise violates any of our other rules and policies, we encourage you to report it so that our staff may review it.
We are an art site and a source of joy for many; we are committed to preserving this open, supportive community and may suspend and/or ban users who actively attempt to make Fur Affinity into a political or religious battleground. This is a particularly upsetting form of trolling and will be dealt with severely.

12/9/17 - Image Upload Trolls + Thumbnail Issues (Updated)
General | Posted 8 years agoImage Uploading
Tonight we temporarily disabled uploads for a short period of time after several accounts performed automated uploads of shock imagery. We have removed the offending images and taken time to review the situation. The troll in question created nearly 600 accounts between October 16 and November 2 as part of a pre-planned attack. We have manually reviewed and shut down all accounts involved. We are in the process of taking further actions to prevent this from happening in the future. We have re-enabled uploads and will continue to monitor the site.
Thumbnail Performance
We are also aware of an issue impacting thumbnail performanceUPDATE: We pushed the scheduled maintenance updates to tonight (which resulted in roughly 5 minutes of downtime required to reboot a server). Speed should improve over time, and we are continuing to monitor.

9/4/17 - Code of Conduct Update
General | Posted 8 years agoFur Affinity is a global community of artists, fans, creators, designers, watchers, admirers, and more. We want to promote and encourage a safe, open community. We have been listening to your concerns, reviewing your comments as to how we handle things, and going through community feedback over the past few months.
We are making changes to better respond to these issues, and have made significant changes to the site's Code of Conduct.
Code of Conduct Changes:
- We added additional policies regarding malicious speech, specifically targeting hate groups and those who identify and promote them. Individuals and groups promoting hatred (Nazism, KKK, ISIS, etc) have no place in our community and these new policies enable us to take stronger action against them and show our commitment to encouraging a safer community for everyone.
- We've made minor updates and revisions to most of our policies in an effort to clear up gray areas and remove perceived loopholes. We also restructured the Code of Conduct to group relevant policies together for easier reading.
Global Changes (AUP, COC)
- We changed the wording for violations/offenses to “levels” to avoid confusion. Thus, moving forward, a 1st Offense is now listed as a 1st Level Offense.
These updates to the Code of Conduct are retroactive, and will go into effect for existing content as of September 18, 2017. If you believe certain individuals are violating the policies we encourage you to file a report via our Trouble Ticket system.
Please note that while we do not condone or welcome hate groups on the site, we still cannot accept calls to violence against any group or individual. Again, we encourage you to report issues via the Trouble Ticket system.

A: Definitely! We’ll be adding more badges as time goes on, improving the system, and occasionally put out a signal flare for ideas and concepts.
Q: Who gets selected to do badge art?
A: After the initial batch of badges are implemented we’ll periodically put out a call for artists to help contribute new badge designs. Not only that, but you can also earn badges in the process!
Q: If I change my mind later, will I miss out on badges I would have earned, or lose my current badges?
A: Once a badge is applied to your account you’ve got it for life. Even if you opt out of the badge system you can still earn them -- they simply won’t display on your account. Certain badges may be time limited or available with certain offers (such as convention-specific badges or badges related to FA events, like art contests).

PattoEarn Badges
Badges can be earned in a variety of ways, such as:
* Anniversaries - Earn badges that reflect your anniversaries on FA, celebrating each year you’ve been a member of the site.
* Community Recognition - Earn badges, such as the Golden Paw, by doing good deeds in the community, representing the fandom in a positive manner, assisting users of the site, or trying to make the fandom a better place.
* FA United - Earn badges for attending FA United! Register and get the themed badge for the year. Register as a Sponsor and up, and get an additional FA Supporter badge. Not only that, but each year you attend FA United earns you a “FAU Patron” badge that can earn you special early pre-registration discounts.
You can also earn badges volunteering at FA United, hosting panels, winning contests (such as the FAU Dance Contest or gaming competitions), and more!
* Donators - While Fur Affinity no longer accepts donations, we want to honor those who helped contribute to the site in the past. We’ll be offering a special FA Supporter badge for those who helped support the community.
Not interested in badges? No worries! The system is completely optional, and can be disabled via the Control Panel.
FAQ
Q: How do Badges work?
A: Badges are awarded once certain criteria are met (such as your one year anniversary on FA). It’s automatically applied to your account, and you can choose which badges display on your profile.
Q: How do I earn FA United badges?
A: All you have to do is register! Simply registering for FA United earns you a badge. Register as Sponsor or higher and get an FA Supporter badge. Otherwise, attending certain events at FA United can earn badges.
When registering for FAU just be sure to list your username in the “FA Username” field. You can also edit your previous registrations at Eventbrite.com if you forgot to list it.
Q: If I attended FA United previous years can I still earn badges for them?
A: Yes! If you registered via Eventbrite you can earn a badge! We’ll be posting more information on how to claim badges from previous years.
Q: I have a great idea for a site badge - can I suggest it?
A: Definitely! We’ll be adding more badges as time goes on, improving the system, and occasionally put out a signal flare for ideas and concepts.
Q: Who gets selected to do badge art?
A: After the initial batch of badges are implemented we’ll periodically put out a call for artists to help contribute new badge designs. Not only that, but you can also earn badges in the process!

Species List Feedback Wanted
General | Posted 8 years agoMinor Species List Update
We posted a small update to the species list today which cleans up the list. Most of the changes were for clarity. An example of this is changing Bovid - Antelope to Antelope. It also removes some previous redundancy like Rodent - Rat and Rat. In addition, we also did an initial round of organization to the list.
New Species Feedback
Our species list is out of date and missing quite a few popular options. We're looking for your feedback! Is your favorite species missing from FA? Let us know in the comments. We're working to get the list updated and shiny.

Site Policy + Beta Updates
General | Posted 8 years agoTerms of Service (TOS) Update
Minor Change
Changed "In plain English..." to a more polite phrasing of "In other words..."
Acceptable Upload Policy (AUP) Changes
Content Guidelines
Clarified the General, Mature, and Adult categories to more clearly and accurately describe what is acceptable in each rating. Previously these rating guidelines were not as clear they should have been.
General Changes
Re-added titles to AUP sections to make the general purpose of each section more clear.
AUP 2.1 Reminders
After receiving feedback from artists and customers we’ve scaled back the penalties against YCH and auction reminders. Auctions, reminders, and YCH submissions need to be appropriately tagged as such in the category lists.
In a future update, these will be prevented from displaying on the “Recent Submissions” category to prevent people from trying to flood the front page. In its place we will be implementing a recent YCH and Art Sale section on the front page (along with a “View More” button), and encourage people to browse for art to purchase this way.
AUP 2.3 Streaming Notices
Revised the policy with the line “streaming notices must still comply with all other rules in this document.” This clarifies that you can post a stream notice but they can’t use content that otherwise violates the AUP.
AUP 2.5 Citing Sources
Added the line “If an artist or character owner wished to be kept anonymous they must be credited as anonymous.”
AUP 2.7 Quality - Removed
The former AUP 2.7, "Poor quality content (such as fuzzy audio, blurry images, or incorrectly rotated content) is prohibited," has been removed.
AUP 2.12 Minors In Sexual Situations
This policy was updated and moved to AUP 2.7 as the old 2.7 (see update above this line) was removed. We’ve added clarification to show “exceptions may be made for non-sexual depictions of birth and breastfeeding."
AUP 6.X Main Gallery/Scraps
This section was removed as it really didn’t belong in the AUP.
Violations and Consequences
We have re-written the notices, removed the Strikes, and simplified the list to make it easier to follow and understand. As an example: If FA administration gives a warning, and that warning isn’t heeded, it may result in a suspension. Previously, some users interpreted strikes to mean they could continue to repeat offenses multiple times before action would be taken.
This makes the process easier to understand.
Code of Conduct (COC) Changes
Minor Change
* Changed "In plain English..." to "In other words..."
* Updated Violations and Consequences to reflect the changes in the AUP as they share the same information.
Beta Update
General
* Global site header has returned.
* Modified the theme to be less contrast intensive based on feedback.
* Minor tweaks to font spacing to improve readability of text.
* Additional fixes/improvements to mobile view.
* Reduced gutter white space sizes slightly on desktop, and outright removed gutters on mobile to increase total viewable space.
* Removed/reduced outmoded CSS classes, and reduced CSS file size by roughly 15%.
* Politely convinced link flair to return for users submitted links in profiles and comments.
* Trimmed down the sizes of buttons, reducing their size by 10px.
* Fixed a global issue which was causing letters in usernames to get cut.
Submission
* Improved +fav/download/note button spacing on mobile view.
* Tweaked padding around submissions
* Revamped the owner tools, and fixed an issue where spacing would sometimes break when the submission had folders.
* Fixed an issue where Flash files would sometimes go under the sidebar if the Flash's native resolution exceeded the user's set viewport width.
Userpage
* Re-wrote user header navigation which will vastly improve the experience on mobile. Further tweaks to desktop are still in the works.
* Revised shouts, fixing an issue with long strings of text and improved mobile view.
* Fixed an issue with the space on the bottom of the shout container.
* Re-worded the “Is Watching/Watched By” sections. Previously, they both had the same text.
Journal
* Improved padding around header/footer.
* Changed background color of the journal to the same color as the comments (for consistency and readability).
* Added comment count back to the bottom of the journal.
Notes
* Minor re-organization in prep for some future improvements.
* Improved layout for mobile.
Footer
* Fixed an issue where the logo/ads weren't hiding properly on lower resolutions. Clutter be gone!
3/10/17 - Beta Update
General | Posted 8 years agoBeta Changes
* Re-wrote, re-styled almost every page of Beta.* CSS platform has been changed to CSS Less.
* "Dark" theme has been completely revised (goodbye, gradients!). We have also removed the other Beta themes as the templating system has changed dramatically. They'll come back once once all tweaks/improvements are changed.
* Made several tweaks, improvements and changes to Beta's mobile view.
* Revised navigation menu for mobile devices.
NOTE: Mobile menu still needs tweaking, and will be finessed in the next Beta update.
* Fixed several inconsistencies/placement issues.
* Userpages currently have a wide-format blank space. This is in preparation for planned future changes planned.
What's New
* Lightbox - Clicking on submissions now opens them in a lightbox to preview the images full screen.* Recent Journals - Journals now display a small list of the last 5 journals to help promote them better.
* BBCode Improvements - You can now use Spoiler codes and Header codes and so on to better format journals and lists.
NOTE: We will be improving the formatting of BBCode headers for user next Beta update.
Contact Info Changes
* Added Contact Info for Picarto, Furry Network, Telegram, Discord, Battle.net* Removed Contact info for Naybn, ICQ, Xfire
Known Issues
* Gallery lists are slightly off-centered (text-aligned left for content -- need to modify container).* Submission Management revisions not complete.
* Userpage header/navigation is cluttered on mobile. Revisions are done but have not been implemented yet.
* Options/menus for Notes are still being revised.
* Mobile menu is improved, but not in its final form.
