Let's see, where should I begin.

I'm still down here in New Zealand. going on three years now and I just put in for my residence visa a few weeks back.
I've grown rather bored of my photography so I wouldn't hold out much hope of that coming back around as a huge part of my gallery anymore.

As for what might be coming around instead.

I've picked up writing as a full time thing. I have four or so projects in the works, not including one freebie that should be coming out in the next few weeks before I sink into my first full novel. Expect some character arts in the future when I can manage to get those worked on and perhaps little updates here and there regarding some of the projects I have going on.

Been debating on something like a patreon or something along those lines but as I'm creating books, I'm not 100% sure as to how I could appease those who even would support my project(s). something like first look at ideas, character sketches and profiles, things like that.

Anyway, that's a bit of an update on what's been going on with me.

I've been in this fandom for like 10 years now.

where has the time gone. seriously.

I'm looking for someone to do a ref kinda thing for my reindeer character.

Hard part is finding someone who is open or willing to work with me on this, I'm more than happy to wait a bit.

I have a decently written out textual reference for her and I can probably re-write it for even more detail but im also not against allowing artistic liberty with her.

Hit me up if you know of anyone who's open or okay with chatting with me over some details!

How I felt my first Earthquake.

As some of you may have read previously, I moved to New Zealand in the late part of October.
Now more of you have probably read or seen on various news sites or stations that New Zealand had a rather large 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the very wee hours around midnight Monday morning (Monday for us).

Coming from the great state of Texas, earthquakes are a very very rare occurrence, much more so one that would be felt, this was my first earthquake in my life which I had felt, and yes, it scared me pretty well. I was in the middle of doing raiding with my guild on WoW when the only other New Zealander in the group keyed down and said "hang on a minute guys, I think we're having an earthquake." I only had just enough time to tell my gf sitting beside me that we had an earthquake coming, and then it was on us, it started out as a low shake, and then got worse, so we (FUCK! i just got shaken by an aftershock as im typing this =/ and another smaller one right after) anyway, we huddled in the door frame of our room, which happens to also lead outside, so all we could do was look out into the backyard as we saw flashes of light in the sky, and the ground rolling and swaying back and forth for what must have been 40+ seconds. power went out, you could hear people waking up nearby, it was a very scary situation.

GF and I are safe, her family is safe, our home is safe, but I just feel absolutely gutted for the people on the South Island and even those in the Wellington area that have been displaced by the initial quake and subsequent aftershocks (we're up over 1700 at this point). my hearts go out to those affected and for those who are working hard to repair roads and communities and relocate those in need.

HELLO EVERYONE!

So where have I been the past little bit?

Lets start with the other day, I left Sunday from my home in Texas, and got on a plane, for 15 hours, flying through the night where I landed in Auckland, New Zealand around 6am, Customs and Biosecurity were wonderful and very kind and efficient folks <3 much love to them. so from there I became a Kiwi for the next 11 months, or until i get another Visa and possibly stay even longer still! After which i waited for my next flight which took me to Wellington, and thats where my honey waifu was, waiting for me to get off the plane, I didnt even notice her as she walked up and hugged me tight and kissed me for the first time, which was just amazing. Nine months we have waited, 3 of those fighting with INZ so i could have my visa to come here. So we drove home and stopped at maccas on the way where I tried the kiwi angus burgers for the first time, (it was delicious by the way). So we kinda piddled about town a bit looking for a US to NZ adapter for my phone and laptop and such, and got some small groceries. came home, snuggled for a few hours. we woke up in the middle of the night as it was kinda cold and our room doesnt have heat. i went outside and i could see the starts, it was so beautiful, i honestly couldnt believe that i was looking at stars that i had never seen before in my life, coming from the northern hemisphere and only seeing the stars from there. Fast forward to today, we did a bit of sight seeing, i got a beautiful overlook of the area that i'm now living in, as well as kapiti island off in the distance. we ate at this nice little cafe, and got a mince pie and a latte, both were very yum. then off for more grocery shopping, and then back to the house for more snuggles and planning on what to do over the next few days.

Overall I couldnt me any happier about my new home than i am already, I love New Zealand so much and I hope in the future this becomes a permanent home for me!

So i havent even touched my FA in months, I've been busy with things outside of here and i havent really touched my camera at all to do any photography to share with you all.

So why update now? well that's the big question really, and to answer that question....

I have spent the last several months working with INZ in applying for a Visitor visa to travel halfway around the world to go to New Zealand.

And I just got my passport and Visa back, I will be leaving this sunday Oct. 23rd, and i wont get there till Oct. 25th, silly time zone and international dateline time travel stuffs.

I will be (hopefully) staying for my visa's duration, leaving just shortly before it expires, which gives me 11 months to explore and discover all that New Zealand has to offer, and if things go well enough, that 11 months may turn into 36 months!

I will probably be updating things more as i go. but i will probably use this opportunity to start vlogging my travels and adventures as a means to get out more and keep myself in better shape.

the important one too D: one of my raid drive's failed this morning, like literally 5 hours after using it just last night....
this is the drive that has/had all of my backlog and total of over 22,000 images i ever photographed since i started doing photography.......
Thankfully I have a copy of the entire drive, but its 1300 or so miles away back at my house. So i will not be able to do anything until i can get things sorted out, I've bought two new 1TB HDD's to go along with the 1 i have left thats still working, I will be redoing them into a raid array again but redundantly like i originally had them a couple years ago when i had 3 at that time.

really shitty, but i mean i also went through most of what i have, and being typical me, I didnt really find all that many images i wanted to go back and re-edit and such.

so i just checked my lightroom library, its over 21,000 images, no biggy, just 5,000 images off

So i would like to sell my Nikon D90 along with a 35mm f/1.8G lens and a 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D lens.
Come to find out that my D90 only has about 12,890 shutter actuations on it, way less than i even thought.
so its almost like its brand new at that rate. but still, im only asking for $500 for the whole setup.
so thats a $200 lens plus a body and a $150 lens for $500.
anyone wanting to get into photography, this is a good deal for you

Im at the grand canyon south rim currently. I will be back on the 26th with roughly 3200-4000 images to go through, depending on how much more i shoot.
Got a nasty sunburn and trying to recover from that.

I escalated some things with a certain someone in romantical ways. So here's hoping that things stay strong between him and I.

All in all. Decently good sabbatical. Will be returning to normal programming soon
