A few more volunteers?
Posted 10 years ago
So, I've already started on the project, but I would like to get a few more volunteers if possible before I finish it. Any more takers? See my previous journal for details.
Need volunteer characters for a story!
Posted 10 years ago
So I have a new character that I REALLY enjoy: Gnash. I want to expand upon her some, and I want to start by writing some sort of character introduction flash fiction type of thing. However, I want to use a character other than her to be the narrator, and I'm going to need some other peripheral characters. Here are the specifics.
General
- This is F.R.E.E. free. :D
- Gnash is a post-apocalyptic raider-group leader, similar to what you might see in Fallout or Mad Max. She's crazy, and doesn't know the meaning of mercy.
- This theme is non-negotiable (at least for this) so you must be okay with your characters in this situation.
- All characters can be male or female.
- Open to pretty much any species or combination of species.
The Narrator
- It will involve some degree of non-sexual humiliation of/violence upon your character. This I will leave up to you (death, violence on a 1-5 scale, being forced to obey/submit, insulting, any combination of these things).
- I am only taking one narrator.
Peripheral Characters
- These characters will probably have at most a few lines of dialogue, but may be referenced offhand/commanded by Gnash. They are probably members of her gang.
- I am taking an uncertain number of these.
If you are interested in having a character in the story, just comment or note me with their preferred role, and information about them. A visual reference would be handy, but it is not necessary. However, the more detailed your description of them, the more accurately I can represent them. And feel free to submit multiple characters!
In addition, I am somewhat interested in the idea of Gnash having more permanent gang members. I.e. they could/would appear routinely in stories or art of her (assuming they would contribute to the cost of art). Note that some of these works might end up being sexual or violent in nature (but I wouldn't ever do that without explicit permission). If you want to create a character for this or dedicate a current character to this, that would be super cool! I'm really into post-apocalyptic/diesel-punk style lately.
If you have any questions, let me know. Feel free to share with those who may be interested. Be be aware; if enough characters are volunteered for the story, I will have to pick and choose.

Help with PhD Project
Posted 10 years ago
Hey guys, Defiance is looking for people to take a survey for their PhD project, and I figured I would give a signal boost!
Here is a link to their journal
Here is a direct link to the survey
Thanks! It only took me about two minutes.

Just realized I haven't updated my age on this site in two years...
I'm 20, in case anyone was wondering. Glad I fixed that.
Now to add to my list-of-things-I-wish-FA-did: keep track of age based on birthday...
Lonely
Posted 10 years ago
I'm starting to feel pretty lonely when it comes to the fandom.
I'm usually not one for posting these kind of journals, but... I just do. Maybe I should produce more stuff. Maybe I should spam people's notes more. But I just feel kind of ignored.
I joined the fandom with the intention of meeting some cool friends, and for the most part, that hasn't happened yet (three years later). I would say I have a few acquaintances, people that I have talked to or done something with like once or twice, but it's not the same thing.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...
*sigh*
I'm done whining now. xD Maybe it will change once I go to the C3A meet in a week.
Easter Egg Hunt!
Posted 10 years ago
Just figured I would share this cool event being held by
starvinartmajor.
It's an easter egg hunt! Basically, she hid a bunch of eggs with color palettes around her page. Claim one and pay $5 for a bust or $10 for a fullybody and give a short description to cget an adoptable or character recolor with that color scheme! It started yesterday, but there are still some eggs that haven't been found!
Check it out. It's good fun.
Here's the journal with more details.
Multiple Versions of a Fursona
Posted 10 years ago
Greetings.
I know I made a journal a while back with a similar topic, but I'm thinking about it again, so here I am.
I'm a little bit torn about my fursona.
I love her design, don't get me wrong on that! However, I feel like she's a little bit... boring.
Every once in a while I will see an artist that I really want to commission, and get really close to doing it. But then I get stumped when trying to figure out the content of the art. I've said before that I feel like my 'sona is a representation of myself, or more specifically, an idealized version of myself in terms of personality. In some ways, that makes her generic, and I feel like "draw her in this pose" and "draw her in that pose" doesn't really serve any purpose. The fursonas that I find most interesting are usually more focused than that: either they are single-minded in what they are into (say, they love coffee... or hypnosis... or being swallowed), or they have an emphasized aspect of their personality (like violence, anger, lust, loneliness).
Would it be better to make her more of a "character," by taking a single aspect and making that central to her identity?
What made me start thinking about this was
Fuccboi-Erin's character lineup submission. I have no idea if this was the direction he was going with this (feel free to call me a retard if you are reading this), but it seems to me like all of those characters are his fursona... just different interations of it for different purposes. Since I've seen it I've latched onto the idea. I do own several other characters, but I never (if ever) use them for anything. But what may get me more into the fandom on a personal level is something like this: I have my general fursona, that I use representatively. And then I also have other characters that are simply versions of my sona, modified to make sense in the setting or portray a certain image.
Thoughts?
****
TLDR: Is it cool to have multiple versions of your sona, rather than having multiple characters?

Hey everybody! Is anyone in the area going to ComicConway here in Arkansas? I'll be there later this afternoon, in my Shizune Cosplay (from Katawa Shoujo), and would be happy to have a little meet and greet!

So I discovered this game and have become enamored with it.
It's super fun. Anyone play it? I would love to have more people to play with, it gets kinda monotonous without buds.
Becoming More Active (Conjecture? Input Appreciated)
Posted 11 years ago
Hello, hello.
Recently (mainly since MFM) I've been thinking a lot about trying to be more active in the furry fandom. And by that, I mean make more friends and connections and such. As it is, I'm already fairly non-socially active: I check FA almost every day, and really enjoy browsing. However, after being at MFM and realizing that I don't really know many people in the fandom, I'm starting to think about reevaluating my position as a furry.
Primarily I think it might be helpful to PRODUCE more within the fandom. Make more yarn tails/stories, etc (I've kind of given up on pixel art heh). Specifically, I've been thinking a lot lately about producing some erotic fiction. Generally I don't delve in that sort of thing, but lately I've been having lots of ideas for those sorts of stories.
Anywho, thoughts on this? I would love to hear some input on the matter; whether I should stay away from more erotic subject matter, or whether I should just throw my hands up in a gesture of "fuck it, I'm a furry. Who's gonna judge me here?"
MFM 2014!
Posted 11 years ago
I am back from my first ever fur con! I had quite a bit of fun, and came back with lots of goodies (that I'll post sometime soonishly).
I'll definitely be going again. I don't feel like I did a whole lot of socializing while I was there, since I was all awkward since it was my first time. Also no one knew who I was. I took my mate with me, and though he abides, wasn't nearly as into it as I was, so I held back a bit.
Anywho, can't wait till next year so I can let loose and actually meet some people! :3
Looking for Artists for a Major Project.
Posted 11 years ago
Over the last few months, I've been working on a major board game project. The game itself is simple, but very thematic, and I am planning on commissioning some serious, high-quality art for the cover, board, pieces, and manual. It would include a monster design, a few humans, nature, and quite a bit of background/decorative work.
I won't be able to pay for the art until a little bit further into the game's production, but I would be happy to pay upwards of $500.
Right now, I'm just gauging interest. I have been browsing for artists for a month or so, but I would love to help an up-and-coming artist find some exposure, which is why I'm coming to FA first! Please let me know if you, or anyone you know, would be interested. It could end up being an awesome opportunity! Thanks.
The Deer God
Posted 11 years ago
Hey guys! I stumbled upon this KickStarter project today, and thought I would share.
It's a survival platformer where you play as a deer. You start out as a fawn, look for food... and grow until it's time to find a mate. Then you have to fight for their hearts.
I'm adoring the look and theme of this game. Seriously. Check it out.

New PC. Awwww Yiss.....
Posted 11 years ago
So yeah, I built a new PC with the help of a good friend. It's magnificent. I've got 2TB of HDD, 16GB of RAM, water cooling system, and this beauty of a graphics card.
So now, I'll be able to play more of the games I've been wanting to, and potentially do some awesome LPs. >:3
I'm so friggin happy.
Furry Themes, Furry Research, MFM, and Other Musings
Posted 11 years ago
Hey, guys. Been a while once again! Since I last was very active on FA, I've been crazy busy with a new town, college, job (I'm a Barista at Starbucks now), and new apartment. But I haven't fallen off the planet, promise!
Anyway, something I started thinking about something involving the fandom the other day; themes. I really like people that have themed 'sonas. Whether it be medieval, steampunk, civil war, mad science, western, or something to do with a specific franchise, I think themed fursonas are really cool. There have been times when I've thought of giving Fleet some more personality by creating a theme. However, I have a hard time thinking of anything I would commit to so much that I would want it to represent me with my character. Since my character is in many ways a parallel of myself, it would have to be something that means a lot to me.
What do you think about themed furries? What does it take to fully dedicate to a theme? Is it silly? Is it a way to make a 'sona even more unique? Is it far-fetched to think of your fursona as anchored to a specific setting? Do you have a theme for your 'sona? Is it plausible to have a multi-themed fursona, or put them in a setting without making it a part of their personality? I would love to hear some thoughts.
There's something else I would love to hear from you guys about. I am currently taking a college course on Cultural Anthropology, and for our final project we have to write an ethnography on a cultural group. Of course, my first thought was of the furry fandom. It's relatively under-researched, and as a member of the community I have a lot of insider access. However, I need to be able to directly spend some time with the community, being able to take notes and talk to specific people. I couldn't simply draw on my past experiences. Here's where you come in! I would love to talk to you, yes, YOU, about the fandom. And not necessarily about the fandom in exclusivity. Just talk, fur-to-fur! I want to be able to get feedback from all facets of the fandom, from the tame to the fetishists. If you're interested in being a part of this (and helping me out) do send me a note! We can work out better times/places to chat. I will be sure to change your names, so you don't have to be afraid to share your deepest, darkest secrets. >:3
Lastly, MFM! I've mentioned this briefly in a previous journal, but I'm seriously planning on going this August. I'm really nervous, and really excited. Anyone who is going, I would love to meet 'cha.

So much stuff!
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone! It's time for one of those few-and-far-between personal journals. College has started for me, and I'm signed up for a double major of English - Creative Writing and Computer Science - Game here at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
In slightly more exciting news, I got a job! My first job evah! I'll be working as a barista at Starbucks, and so far (during the training), it seems like it will be a really awesome place to work. The company has fantastic policies and welcoming employees. And now I will be able to tell you the difference between a breve mocha latte and a caffe misto, which is new, heh.
So yeah, I'm gonna be busy as balls this semester, but I think it will be fun. I was really, really, really trying to make it to MFM this year so I could ACTUALLY meet some other furries, but because of my weird schedule it doesn't look like it's going to happen. But there's always next year!
The Coliseum will be finished soon! I can't decide if I'm excited or sad to see it over with... at least for now!

Tonaba
Posted 12 years ago
So, you may or may not have already seen this advertised here on FA, but I thought I would help to spread the word for this awesome Kickstarter project: Tonaba: The Book of Secrets. It's a trading card game that I really, really think has some promise. It's really unique, and is built to be less hurtful on your wallet than other TCGs. What's more: it's furry-based!
So, if you haven't already and you enjoy trading card games (or even if you don't!) I really suggest checking this project out, and maybe giving it some support. Even if not, please help spread the word! I feel like this is a great project that deserves to see the light of day, and it doesn't have much time left to meet its ambitious goal.
Here's the Kickstarter page.
EDIT: Apparently the creator of Tonaba is offering a raffle, just for advertising the game! For more info, see his journal: here.

Tinnocence: Now on Kongregate
Posted 12 years ago
I'm currently in a Game Design course, and for our third game we had to make a platformer (which was our only restriction). So this is what came of it: Tinnocence. I made the art and music (though it still needs quite a bit of work) and helped with the coding as well.
Give it a go!

And it's pretty awesome.
A friend recently told me about PokeMMO, a free Pokemon MMO. It it's just like the games that I know and love... but with other people. It currently supports FireRed and SoulSilver/HeartGold. If you are interested in playing, you should send me a friend request; my username is Fleetfiend (though my character nae is Stormry). :3 I'm so happy.
