My Sonic 4 Episode 1 Review
Posted 15 years agoAs a fan of old-school platformers, (look at my username, for God's sake X3) I was drooling at the arrival of a new 2D Sonic game. Sonic 4 was pretty much heralded as the Second Coming of Hedgehog, supposedly rectifying all previous games' mistakes. Does it measure up, at least in my eyes? Well....
Visuals:
This game looks AMAZING. Sonic, the badniks, and the areas are given a glossy sheen of HD and it looks gorgeous. Never before have I wanted to hump a TV screen. Classic enemies are recreated from the first three games, and attention to detail is well done.
Score: 5 outta 5
Sound/Music:
This one is hit and miss. LOTS of classic Sonic sounds return, ranging from jumps to grabbing air bubbles to the clang of rings. It's nostalgia wrapped up in a pretty HD package. Unfortunately, the music isn't as lucky. I didn't any of the tunes memorable, outside of the first Splash Hill level. It made me pine for the days of Green Hill Zone or Casino Night Zone, but unfortunately no such luck. The boss music is unfitting. It doesn't sound like you're about to go toe to toe with your arch enemy, it sounds like you're about to engage in a game of Yahtzee. The final zone's music especially falls short, as you'll probably be repeating it... A LOT.

THIS is the biggest disappointment of the game. I was expecting tight gameplay like Sonic 1 through Knuckles, but it's like Sonic is mysteriously lugging around an invisible elephant and just drops. When you can WALK up a loop de loop, you know something's wrong with the physics. The homing attack was a nice add-on to 2D Sonic's limited bag of tricks, except the game expects you to use it a LOT. Countless death pits wait as you try to home attack across robots floating in the air as a make-shift platform. One wrong move, you run into the enemy, get hit, and fall to your doom. Ouch.
Collecting the Chaos Emeralds is a hard freaking chore. I ripped half of my gorgeous hair out trying to get these things. The stage is almost exactly the same as Sonic 1's, but relies on motion controls. I played this on a 360, so I didn't have this problem, but it's still extremely frustrating. The timer is always against you and you'll find yourself constantly smashing into bumpers that pretty much take you back all the way to the beginning. Terrible. Oh, and if time runs out or you hit a red exit bumper, that's it. You'll hafta get 50 rings in a stage you didn't get an emerald and try again. Fun, right?

My Thoughts On Kaa Art On DeviantArt
Posted 15 years agoAs a fan and known artist of drawing the crazed hypno snake, I must say I am displeased with the way he is being handled on the art site deviantart. Now, this is all opinion, so no one fly off the handle at me.
First off, a lot of it is cookie cutter photo manipulation. People take some random supermodel and just throw crappy Kaa cut-outs around her. This seems to be one of the major portions of the so called fan "art".This kind of thing doesn't belong on an art site, it belongs in some hypnosis collection forum.
Second, the vast VAST amounts of Sonic characters and Sonic fan characters with Kaa. I know this might be in large due to the fact that Kaa is an animal and it works in the furry community, but Sonic just doesn't mesh well with the snake. There are so many other hypnosis methods that are far more appealing to Sonic fans. (Don't believe me? Check out my friend Supersonic250's stories!) The artwork itself look like it was rushed and not much thought was put into it. Which bring me to....
Three, if you're gonna make a Kaa pic, do it with love! Put TIME and effort into it! 30 crappy sketches does not equal one good pic! Sketch it out, ink it, color it, give it a background! I swear, the more time you put into something, the more it shows and the fans will love it that much more!

South Park Loses The Fight

Last night was the conclusion of an epic two parter that featured a lot of characters and things that haven't been seen in like 10 seasons. But due to a "warning" by a Muslim group, the episode was severely edited and censored and did not get re-aired. Free speech is dead, my American furs. If someone threatens you with violence, you apparently better roll over.

Posted 15 years agoYou'd think with the last two weeks of the college semester on the horizon, I'd have freedom just waiting for me. Well, I don't have such luck. I came down with a bad cold which has morphed into either strip throat, or something of the variety. Speaking or swallowing hurts like a mother, and I'm constantly in need of rest. Needless to say, any new piccies from me will be delayed until I say so.

The thing is, I don't really see the requests myself and comics are a lotta work, so here I am to ask: Do you want HCSR to go on and for me to continue doing the series? Enough responses just might rekindle my spark for the series. It's up to you, my fans. Hope to hear back ^^

Posted 16 years agoWell, the funeral is done and over, now it's time to move on... In other news I've caught a terrible cold that I can't seem to beat. I know lately that my journals are mostly bad news, but I'm not about to let a cold best me. I should be back to my normal routine sometime during this next week. That is all, now to lay down and play M&L: Bowser's Inside Story. :P
