Delaying release to Halloween
Posted a year agoI evacuated for Hurricane Milton and won’t be home for a few more days. I am perfectly fine/safe but I’m mot sure when power will return to my area and it’s been hard to have the privacy/time to work on stuff in the interim.
So I’ll be optimistic and try for a Halloween release! Laters

Anticipating October 18th Release
Posted a year agoThe custom character option will be playable by October 18th! I’ll see how many class options I’ll be able to present but at the least you’ll be able to be an Xenologist… I’m looking into other options like different character backstories, subclasses, and other customization features.
At the moment it will be a sandbox kind of dealy until I figure out how to integrate a custom start into some storyline stuff. But anyway…
https://discord.gg/z7D8Mn2raB
I’ve been sharing updates in my server specifically for my game development stuff. Check it out! I’m going to soft-relaunch some stuff and resume some threads I have elsewhere, etc etc.
A more complete release will follow, maybe a few months after this update.

Class Select Flavor Text

"Once the Dust settled and the Nerves wore off, it was time to come to grips with reality: someone had to fight this War. We were stretched thin in every direction... Our Thinkers were running billions of threads and our Xenodrones were smouldering heaps, for the most part. Things we took for granted, like the Precursors that fabricated everything we had, were scarce. We had never known Scarcity before now, and it was awful. We did, however, now know what awful was.
We had to scrounge. Scavenge, even. And we found ourselves scraping the bottom of the barrel for everyone eager to fight. And once we ran out of those, we Recycled them. We kitted them with all the Tech we could gather, every bit and piece. We Reused them. We made clones upon clones of loyal Clonic Soldiers. But you could only do that for so long. We were Reduced to less and less.
But then we had an idea. A dark realization that we would have never had before the Fall: you could Make them WANT to Fight. And we did to them what we did to all the other Machines of our War. We crossed some wires to make them Lethal. Hungry. Horny. And suddenly? We had Plenty."
RAYTH
"Before the War? We kept to ourselves for the most part. Our Society was above the trivial concerns of the lesser ones, the ones who called themselves Nations, Races, and Humans. Nonetheless, there were those among them who were worthy, and to them we made ourselves known. The others knew only our absence, for even back then the Void was a dangerous place. It teemed with things that would rather not be seen or known, and we respected that. We were never too arrogant to keep our heads down.
We considered our neglect -benevolent-. The -other- ones would not have been so kind as to let be. Yes, many suffered from our silence, our inaction. But we turned our gaze away. It was better for us to live in ignorance of suffering, lest the knowledge of it consume us. After all, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. But OUTREACH kept watch. Those were still -threats-, after all. And even before the Fall, we had a brush with Extinction that cut too close for our liking. It was painfully clear that every Alien was just that, alien. If you were game then you wouldn’t trust a hunter in the Dark Forest, so a few of us had to be hunters, just in case..."
PILOT
"Shock. Fear. Terror. When War first erupted in the Void, it wrought suffering once known only in the Holos of the Old Era. For the first time, our Societies felt pain. Loss. Suffering. We were ripped from the reveries of our Long Dreams and cast from the gardens of our Eden Worlds. What took generations to build was lost in a lifetime—no, many, many lifetimes, cut short. Some ran, some hid, and some even did worse to themselves that we would rather not imagine.
But some fought. Many were Oldtimers from the Bygone Time, whom still knew sacrifice, grit, and courage. Some even remembered how to kill. But they were -Oldtimers-, and their Bodies were frail and ancient. Their Minds were worn down from the ravage of the ages and the pain of the Past. In their current state, their Souls were not enough.
So we merged them with machines. Their Souls joined the Minds and Metal of our finest Xenodrones. But our Society was decadent, our Machines were made for Pleasure, not War. We had to make modifications, make them meaner, deadlier. It pained us to do. But we hope it will make do."
SCION
“Walking the path first tread by the ancient Viz race, Scions eschew the material world and follow the golden path: the Sonderweg. It is this wanderlust that leads them to the edges of the remote, allowing them to take in the world as it actually is, without the artifice of the wider Society. They follow only the Natural Laws as revealed by the Actual State of Things, which puts them into conflict with the ‘social constructs’ essential for the Panthrope civilization to function.
Following this path, and suffering all the trials that it demands, brings great power: Post-Psionics. Though such power reveals itself only to those who would hesitate to use it. No longer quite limited by how things ought to be, Scions find themselves eventually able to remake reality on a fundamental level, exceeding the -pathy and -kinesis of lesser Psions. But to take this road is to veer dangerously close to madness, as only the Scions dare to peel back the curtain that conceals the Great Secret."
XENOLOGIST
"There were, of course, those who could not turn their gaze as all the others did. You could say they embodied the Greatest traits of our Society: Empathy. Curiosity. Charity. If we truly took after the Greatest civilization to ever sail these stars, then we had to do right by their name. Some members of OUTREACH truly understood this.
To be Great is not to tower above the lesser, but to kneel, to meet the Alien at their level so as to raise them with you. We knew we had to be good shepherds but there had to be a light touch, almost unfelt. It was our responsibility to put our fingers on the scale of justice and make the world as we wanted to see. But to do so, we had so much more left to learn. You could say we were innocent, maybe even naive.
We observed, and based on those observations, we cultivated those who showed the greatest promise: those among the Nations, the Races, and the Humans who held our values—the ones who had the same Souls. The others were to be guided, until they were also worthy, upon which they joined our Society. We liked to think that one day everyone would join us. Everyone. Yes, everyone.
We were fools."
SPECIALIST
"But most of us Slept. We, for the most part, continue to dream the Long Dream. For most of us, it is the only thing we have ever known. You, Human, know it by a different name. You perceive the real and unreal as entirely separate things, just as you imagine yourself to be apart from the world—but you are actually of it. So, too, are our Dreams part of Reality, as they emerge from it. They are the thing you know as Cyberspace.
The vast majority of us exist as ghosts in the machine. Most will never be anything but. And this doesn’t phase us in the slightest, as we consider the virtual to be as valid as the corporeal. Your Cyberspace is our Meatspace; we see the physical as just another medium of existence, which serves our purposes and gets us where we want to go. We have no particular attachment to the Real insofar as it is a means to an end.
We’d rather stay far away from it, if we can. We once even dreamed we could ascend to an entirely new plane of existence, a Realer reality. But there are now far more pressing concerns, like keeping the Lights on. And given the newfound Scarcities in Meatspace, we find our Sleep fitful, so someone’s bound to wake up. There are times when only one person has a very particular combination of skills, aptitude, and determination. That’s when we have no choice but to awaken a Specialist."

It's cooking
Posted a year agoI have been in good spirits the past few weeks and I'm trying my best not to jinx it by promising too much. I will be implementing a basic charry customization set of screens once the custom character module releases.
It'll be a series of choices like so:
Choose class: PILOT, RAYTH, Soldier, Specialist, Psionic, Xenologist
Customize appearance
Pronouns
Choose personality - 3 choices?
Background (which affects your starting perk)
For classes that start with augments, you'll be able to choose your augments
For classes that start with a companion or pet, you can choose it, I think.
The Specialist class has an extra screen to choose their specialty: Genetics, Hacker, Medic, Battle
At this time I'll be preventing that custom start option from doing 'the campaign' / questline until I decide what sorts of paths or whatever should be available. So you'll basically be able to craft stuff and do encounters like a sandbox kinda vibe for the interim.
Uploading the variations will be easy but time consuming. The menus/setup itself will take <1 day to make, it'll just look very basic.
I'm going to go in and rejigger things right now to accommodate a non-Chel protagonist (currently stuff is dependent on checking to see if chel's in the party and what slot she's in so that'll be a quick fix maybe <1 or 2 hours.)
Like basically if I were to hard-commit to it, the feature would be playable in a week. But lately I've been laying on my back and thinking really deeply about the intended Augmentation system and I'm not too sure if it's what I want to go with. Essentially the cyber augments are like a separate inventory system/slot system kinda like cyberpunk 2077's slots thing. But I didn't initially create things with augments in the balance-stew so I'm not sure if I'm satisfied with my current concept. I'll need to get back to you guys on that.
It's a pickle because the soldier class hinges on starting with a full augment kit which makes it effectively have the combat power of like 2 regular characters/party members which gives it an early game advantage and stuff.

Hi
Hi
Upcoming Patch Summary
Posted a year agoI’ve been fiddling with some very particular skill/passive tweaks — it has been time consuming relative to its relevance but I am hoping it will reflect in the end quality.
First, given that some weapons have toggles in their target select menu which let you alter the shot’s effect, I wanted to expand that functionality:
Rane can use the passive TinkerGuns which allows Burst Fire on pistols/smgs/shotguns, increasing damage and effect proc chance but imposing a reload cooldown.
Rane can use TinkerTech, which modifies 5 different Tech skills to let you use alternate modes with a toggle. ArcFlash can thus be switched to deal NEGATIVE electric damage, which can heal enemies but also deal damage to enemies that normally absorb electric (-1 x -1 is positive remember). FlashFrz can airburst which doubles damage but doesn’t inflict the cold status debuffs (this can be useful since Cryo damage is usually low, so the option to deal high Cryo damage is welcome). Etc.
I had some concerns with regards to how skills scale when used by Jen1. Jen1 gets access to guns that easily deal 30+ base damage with a lot of options so normally tech spells would be underpowered in that context since they generally deal around 20 base damage. So she gets some stuff to help those remain relevant even as she gets better guns:
PoisonDart and MeltDart have been merged into ToxicDart, which has a toggle to deal poison or caustic damage. I felt they were too redundant and Jen1 wasn’t a good carrier for it since it deals low starting dmg and is mostly about its debuff. So Jen1 can use the passive ToxicShot which upgrades ToxicDart to deal weapon’s damage instead of base 5. Still balanced by 3 turn cooldown I think.
I’ve tweaked Grenadier to not only increase Grenade Techs damage by 5 but also let Nades use Range instead of Tech stat. This pulls Jen1 away from being ‘multi attribute dependent’ and centers her around the Range stat.
Jen1 can also use the passive LockNLoad which gives Nades and Gunshot skills a 25% chance to reload her primary if it’s spent. I feel this will improve Jen1’s skill/attack synergy and overall these changes will help glue the various mechanics (elemental ammo, nade skills, special shots, weapon attacks) together.
I also had some concerns with regard to Tanya’s self-synergy. I felt that while it was useful to have psi attacks and the sniper stuff equipped at the same time to have a good fallback in case weapon is stuck reloading etc., the psi damage spells didn’t synergize well enough with her sniper attack and didnt have much incentive to use aside from elemental damage bonuses. So I offer two passives:
OmniFocus allows you to hit every enemy with the psi spell you’re casting instead of just 1 enemy. But only if you are Focused. This forfeits the usual 2x damage you deal with Focus. I feel this can offset Tanya’s weakness vs multiple enemies while also offering the choice of ‘do I hit everyone or definitely kill 1 target?’
I also added ChainFocus. Also only applies when you’re Focused but instead of aoe damage, it will let you immediately chain into another attack or psi spell. It works but Im not entirely happy with how ‘oomphy’ it feels so I will chew it over. Fortunately the fact I implemented this mechanic means I now have a good basis for my concept of ‘two headed merge mechanic which lets you twincast psionic spells’.
I think this should suffice for what I had in mind for Jen1 and Rane’s concepts. I’ll need to tinker with Tanya more and make the medic class more engaging.

The Great Skivari
Posted a year agoGreatness.
We were 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 once.
Our Tower pierced the atmosphere and slung us out into the chasm of space. We had Calculators, the size of houses, and they told us where to fire--knew where the enemy would be before the bastards even knew it themselves. Back then, you could point to the orange sky and see all the twinkling dots of our creation. Rings. Spheres. Shapes without number.
Our other homes.
We had pride, too. Sweat on our brows. Our claws got dirty. We built it all ourselves. We learned things--got good at 'em. We took pride in that. Skill 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 something. Some had talent, and they were lucky. But others didn't, and they still earned their keep. Some were great. Some were less. But being less meant someone else could be greater, and that was okay. We grokked that.
But they took that from us.
They took our pride. Our purpose. Our 𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘴.
Yeah, our pilots. I don't give a #^@&* what you heard. It was 𝘰𝘶𝘳 idea. And they strapped them to tables and hacked them to bits until they found out what makes them tick.
That's what they do, isn't it? Strip your culture to the bone and force you to wear theirs as a leash. But guess what? Chains 𝘴𝘯𝘢𝘱.
*scribblescribble*
Why they gotta act surprised? That we rebelled? You keep a junkyard dog on the chain... Foaming at the mouth... Starved for freedom...
*scribblescribble*
They love to brag about their own greatness.
But we know that every generation, there's one Great Skivari. And we got ours.
He set us free, you know. If only for a little while. &@#&? what anyone says. What choice did we have?
He was a martyr.
He was a hero--
*scribblescribble*
Look. You can promise us pleasure, luxury, whatever creature comforts you can think of. But what we--anything with a brain and two legs, really wants, is struggle. Sacrifice. Suffering. Death, even.
Better an end with horror than a horror without end. You came up with that, didn't you?
*scribblescribble*
They deserved it.
They 𝘩𝘢𝘥 it coming.
Yeah you 𝘩𝘢𝘥 it coming didn't you?
$@&! we'd do it again if we had the chance.

It Is Being Light
Posted a year agoIt was said that every great Civilization had a great idea.
Our greatness was our Compassion.
Oblivion, in turn, was our gift to the masses that suffer to this day.
And we look back tearfully on those we left behind, to suffer, only comforted by the idea that they, too, will eventually know Oblivion.
But now we dare to imagine the alternative. Something even greater...
We are seeing a darkness.
A silence.
The emptiness is being vast and constituting everything.
In fact, there are no things, there is not anything.
The things are long decayed into things which rotted away into ever lesser things. Until such things are so imperceptibly minuscule that there could be no evidence that they are even existing. They are not-things.
They are screaming. They are trying to move. But there is no movement.
It is being perfectly still.
The infinite abyss, the Oblivion, at the end of time, which is awaiting even the most ancient of the Races, the Cultures, the Societies, and the Civilizations.
And it was being forever, until it wasn't.
Slowly at first, but then suddenly, the infinite dark is receding. It is drawing inward. And as it does, the nothings collide and they smash and they fuse together. As they do, the nothings become somethings and they wink into light and shape and sound. These things beget other things, which experience things as they happen.
But things continue to happen, incredibly quickly and loudly. The screams are louder.
Flares of light and violence condense into great big orbs of light and these dissolve into clouds and particles and vapors.
There are things that move which are made of metal, these neatly disassemble themselves in great big lines of assembly. The things that move which are made of flesh instead crawl back to whence they came and regress into nothingness. And those which begot them also returned to those which had themselves begotten.
In doing so, they are undone. And in never being, all of their pains and sufferings mercifully cease to exist.
The great unfurling of the world is furling back as time goes in reverse.
Everything continues to regress, to devolve, to degenerate, to unbecome, until it all regresses into a great big screaming ball of fire.
It is very warm. It is very close. It is One. And it is being Light.
We now know what must be done.

Hedonism
Posted a year agoThe human condition is a treadmill, a treadmill of hedonism. To indulge in pleasure is to only be offered a momentary reprieve from suffering. Despite improvements in the external conditions: socio-economic reform, economic growth, and technological progress, the nature of suffering will always be internal, and subjective. It is increasingly clear that the subjective experience is what requires remedy most of all.
And it has been revealed through extensive study, with regards to monozygotic and dizogytic twins, that there is a heritable reference point of well-being--a baseline, if you will--of subjective well-being, around which we oscillate throughout our lives. Our lowest of lows and highest of highs are still relative to this baseline state of contentment or discontent, or 𝘥𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘪𝘯. And we know that there is a high variance in the 𝘥𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘪𝘯 between individuals. It is even suggested that this baseline can be permanently decreased by periods of extended suffering.
It is also evident that there are individuals that are 𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘩𝘺𝘮𝘪𝘤. In our old parlance, we would call them anhedonic. They receive less pleasure from most sources and are less reactive to stimuli. In the most extreme degrees, this even caused dysfunction in their participation in the wider society; we called it 'depressed'. This phenomenon, however, is now an artifact of history thanks to advances in germline genetic engineering.
But what about an increase?
Studies have also proven that there are individuals whom we could deem 𝘩𝘺𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘺𝘮𝘪𝘤. We would consider them optimistic by temperament. Hyperthymics do not suffer from any dysfunction due to their higher baseline 𝘥𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘪𝘯, they are simply exceedingly content, or happy. This can even be regardless of what should be objective suffering; loss, dismemberment, and so forth. Although, this is still subject to variation. Hyperthymics still respond adaptively and appropriately to external stimuli, and are in fact particularly energetic and creative. Even when experiencing a 'high', they are still able to function productively.
Thus, here is the thrust of my proposal. What if as an entire society, we were to become hyperthymic by design? If we were to alter ourselves on the genetic and psychological level, and not merely the societal? We could proliferate hyperthymia throughout the entire population, and with concentrated efforts, even reach peaks beyond that, 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩-𝙝𝙮𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙮𝙢𝙞𝙖. We could abolish the lowest lows, and the pains of yesteryear will be forgotten.
The worst our people will know would only be boredom.
I even have it on good authority that this would unlock the latent psycho-potential of our society...

Posted a year agoSome sober assessment of the realities is warranted now vis-a-vis stuff I’m working on. First of all at the end of July, the latest version of Sugarcube for Twine broke on the online mode, which meant I couldn’t edit it on my chromebook. I had to fix up my desktop but the screen dimensions are a lot larger now which means the sprites scale up and that stretching makes them look all fuzzy and whatnot. No bueno
A reupload of all the sprites in higher res for this screen size is probably warranted. This would make the experience better for desktop/big screen users but increase file sizes which is nbd but yknow. I estimate that would take a few hours
Using this older version of the Twine editor on my desktop/pc is clunkier (cant just refresh the current game session to push through changes on my test runs, need to launch entire new sessions and save/load) but it will suffice. There is currently no real alternative as the new versions are not compatible with the timed sprite change etc modules. This however doesn’t affect anything on you guys’ ends, this just makes it more janky for me to edit stuff by a little.
I tried implementing a change which would let the enemy auto-attack without needing to be clicked but that didn’t work. It doesn’t seem like it’s feasible to do so without either making entirely separate copies of the same attacks (one clicked the other timed) ((text and all)) or making each attack a separate little module like I did for player abilities. The first is very inefficient and the second isn’t feasible since that’s 5 attack passages per enemy and there’s like 30 enemies already.
Still not too satisfied with the proportions for jen1 so I’ll probably rework that and maybe change her palette again

Dragonfruit should buy Furaffinity
Posted a year agoNo hate but:
Dragonfruit Ventures (subsidiary of Bad Dragon) already runs F-List and e621.
Operational costs for FA apparently come out to 20k a month.
FA is probably worth negative money as thousands are apparently still owed due to the IMVU buyback.
What's the alternative really? There's only one company with a proven track record of running this stuff. If it falls into the hands of an unknown (even if well-intentioned) then they could end up fumbling the main site of the furry fandom.
(And I know this can be construed as 'too soon' but bear with me here, I think this is a very important and crucial time so clear-headedness about the realities is needed here. Instead of dooming about FA vanishing and posting one's other socials, there ought to be constructive consideration about what happens next in journals.)

On a trip
Posted a year agoForgot to mention but I won't be back 'til Saturday. I don't have a very fast internet connection or much privacy. Visiting some family and seeing if I can get rid of this storage I've been stuck with for like 12 years. Also it's my birthday in a few days! Laters
Voice Actor(s) Wanted
Posted a year agoPutting out some very tentative feelers for someone who could provide voice acting. The cast is ladies-only so someone with a vocal register in that range is what I'm looking for. Some/light NSFW themes may be included in the readings. Accents/imperfect elocution are acceptable. Length negotiable. Experience not required.
You can note me if this interests you. I don't really expect high odds anyone reading would be interested/suitable but I figured I'd at least give it the college try before going to another platform.

Upcoming stuff
Posted a year agoI will be anticipating the upload of the story compilation volume 4 by Friday. I might throw in another story or two in there but no promises (I feel it's currently lacking some ooomph)
I'm also easing into some Xenospermia stuff, it's a bit disorienting since I forgot some things (lmao). I'm going to warmup by working on the tooltips and so forth.
We weren't really able to make new sprites aside from a sketch that had to be ditched 'cuz it was too complex. But we're working on some alternate poses/expressions for the Pilot (Rane) and maybe the next direction will be other alternate expressions for the visual novel module's purposes.

But Johnny lies. He doesn’t even like anime.
He slaps his laptop shut and lays back on his bed like he always does and he closes his eyes and he thinks.
He thinks about the last time he’d went outside and how horrible that had been. His face feels hot and there is a lump in his throat as he imagines it, he still cringes at the thought. To be Johnny is to imagine it vividly as though the pain and the fear remains and always simmers beneath the lid of the pot.
He remembers the park wherein there hangs the fronds of flesh and the tails of beasts sway in the fetid wind beside the mire, which is murky and dark and home to creatures as alien as the world around him.
He is there as the waft of the creatures strikes him, it is repugnant but heralds the approach of things worse, the things themselves.
There is a creature about the size and shape of an arm which flails around, very laboriously, and it throws itself several meters at a time, and it pauses to heave and breathe deeply and this is normal.
There is a thing, which walks upon two legs with the gait of a t-rex, it is made of a sickly pink wrinkled flesh covered in fine hairs, and the waist up it is a floppy cock, with two eyes, and it is gravid with young.
There is a wrinkly mass, which rolls, and it leaves behind a trail of saliva as the tongues serve as the muscular foot of it. It is covered in eyes, and some of the eyes bulge out onto stalks, which regard Johnny with smiles at the edges of them.
But before Johnny contemplates it further, he is ripped from recollection by a rap on the door. It is his mom. He winces with dread, as it is his mom. He opens the door, and he cracks it open just enough. Sometimes when he looks at her, she is his mom. But there are other times, when she is the creature, and it is usually when Johnny Thinks Like This.
𝘏𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴. The times when he remembers that he is not Johnny but the mind trapped inside the flesh creature that is named Johnny. He does not like to remember that the bodies he sees have minds, and those minds are terribly alien things onto themselves, and that the minds always think, and some of those thoughts reserve judgment for him. No, Johnny would rather be the one who judges, the observer with all others as subjects.

Sigh. Car trouble got me f***ed up. Need help
Posted a year agoWhat happenedI shall try to be succinct: Some time around February is when something happened with my car overheating. As it turns out during an oil change the cap must not've been put in correctly since there was oil everywhere in the car's guts. This required going to a small-time mechanic to get that all cleaned up and sorted. Sound simple yeah?
This became a whole thing of having to go back to the mechanics multiple times to change out different parts each time it overheated. First it was the thermostat apparently then it was the radiator that needed replacement. I get that oil inside can cause a buncha problems and can screw everything up in unpredictable ways like water damage on a phone but I've fallen into a lost cause trap here.
Today marks the third time it's overheated on the road and I'm having to get an uber to my apartment right now. This is after a $800 repair to change out the radiator after they supposedly spent a lot of time checking it out and promising nothing was wrong. I get things happen and I don't want to blame anyone because I'm sure there was an effort but at this point I wish they were upfront with the odds of fixing the car, I could've saved the like $2000+ dropped on the various repairs since February, used it on a new car's down payment.
I had been reluctant to get a new car in the first place since 'til now it worked fine and it was paid off, I didn't like the idea of a new bill every month and I felt that would've been irresponsible but this is the spot I now find myself in given the choices I've made.
At the least I'm fortunate that it broke down in the middle of the month (literally days after getting it out), which means I have more time to plan out my next move. Frankly my current concerns are how I'll be able to get around until payday, I will probably need to use uber. Previously I was able to borrow my step-dad's car but this time he's not willing (which is fair since I was using it for a month to save the money for last repair). Things will be very tough for me until I get this sorted, I think I can scrape together the rent payment and the down payment for another car if I really try.
What that meansNow you see until now I had been very embarrassed by the whole matter and I had not been forthcoming about it; to be honest I never liked the idea of coming across as a bum that always needs help. I had also not wanted to reduce people's confidence in my ability to fulfill the projects (Xenospermia, Slime Dungeon, etc.), as I feel like any bad news would naturally 'reduce investor confidence' (IE the subscriptions drop like flies). But at this point the situation has eaten into a lot of my time and money and some painful transparency is needed.
Since this started happening I've pretty much had to keep opening up comm slots and redirect funds that would've gone towards the sprites and so on. I want to assure y'all that the slowness is mostly because I've been working on comms (as well I have some anxiety towards how long my projects are taking, and some doubts on my direction vis-a-vis what I'm doing). I don't want anyone to interpret my delays as a lack of interest, I know my posting is spotty sometimes (especially on Patreon/substar) but 'I never left'. Nor do I have any interest in leaving or otherwise bailing on my projects.
However. At this point it's been a cycle of bad stuff happens -> open coms -> bad stuff happens, over and over. I feel like the easy and face-saving thing to do would be to make some journal where I open a bunch of slots and end up mired for another couple months in commission work. But I honestly would just rather not, I would prefer to not have that weigh down on me for a while & further postpone my projects. And I don't want to be dishonest with myself and open comms when I'm still not ready for them again. It would also reflect poorly on me if I give my word and end up taking too long to fulfill a comm or end up refunding it.
What you can doSo I'm left with the tough choice between saving face or keeping my word. Both mean a lot to me and I don't like asking for help. It's not really my thing I guess. But I've added a link to my google drive with all my saved writings etc., which you'll receive as the thanks message if you donate to my ko-fi page
https://ko-fi.com/flagcatcher
I don't really expect anything but a few bucks would help for the uber or bus or so on. If I receive nothing then I'm fine with that since I've already accomplished my goal of being transparent to my backers.
Thanks for your consideration, you funny cartoon animal people that live in my computer.
Contemplating harder kink stuff
Posted a year agoHistorically I’ve been interested in more squicky stuff (one of my first uploaded stories was in fact a vore story/art combo where Coco gets hard-digested). I don’t really have qualms about that kinda content, I’m just particular about it.
But recently I’ve commed a very delightful sequence from someone which is quite bloody but I simply adored the quality and creativity of it, and I also wanted to give them some exposure.
So I’m wondering if y’all would be okay with me uploading that provided I am careful with the thumbnail/disclaimer and all. I’d also really like to get a couple more things from them with the same theme, the initial character was Dinah from Unicorn Overlord but I was thinking getting Freya Crescent from FF9 and/or Sierra from Legend of Mana, maybe even Krystal from The Funny Nintendy Space Franchise That Never Gets New Games.
Since I had some canon/franchise characters in mind maybe it can be like a pooled $ kinda thing 🤲. I just planned on uploading the image/model with some commentary but maybe I could write up some actual story idk
Just to be clear the ideas I’m talking about here are snuff / guro type stuff.

I got arrested
Posted a year agoI had been minding my own business, typing up another tale of some poor soul's demise, when suddenly, the ceiling parted with an interdimensional rift. I was aghast to see that several characters which I had assumed I had spun from whole cloth were, in fact, real. Two of them rappelled from the opening... I'm pretty sure one was Beth and the other was former Wagner financier Yevgeny Prigozhin. Anyway, they were super upset with me and informed me that I had been incredibly, terribly irresponsible in writing what I write. You see, I had been under the assumption that there was a distinction between reality and fiction but in fact, due to the Many Worlds theory (which Beth helpfully explained to me), I was wrong.
Essentially, by writing about an alternate reality, I was acting as an observer to it. And in doing so, I was collapsing said timelines into the possibilities that did, in fact, result in bad outcomes (bad ends, if you will). As you can see, this caused a lot of harm to entities that I thought were fictional! Right now I'm being detained for my crimes against humanity (88 charges so far). I'm honestly very afraid but I absolutely needed to get this message out while I have reception (as you can imagine there's not very good signal in alternate universes).
What I need you to know is you must not, under any circumstances, imagine anything bad, nasty, malicious, any of that. This completely screws with the AUs. It's probably safer to not imagine anything at all just to be absolutely careful.
And especially DO NOT, NEVER, EVER, write anything!
