Update!
Posted 12 years agoSo here I am, sitting at the airport waiting the 2 hours til my flight takes off. It seems like I’ve done this flight a million times: Brisbane to Sydney probably the most common of my adventures around the world, but it’s the first time It’s ever felt like this. The feeling is hard to describe, the butterflys in my stomach suggesting that it still hasn't made up it’s mind if I am leaving or returning home and I am left reflecting on the adventure that has been.
A few weeks ago it became perfectly clear I was in a lot of trouble.... the problem with cancer is that even if you survive, often you are left with little more than a shred of a livelihood left. That trouble was in the form of inability to maintain the financial commitments I was involved in, especially that of paying off both a $20,000 chemotherapy debt and still afford rent, meals, phone and power/internet. I'm a proud person, I don't deal well with hand outs and I will never ask for them. I've survived through all this crap once before and will happily independently do it again. With sickness benifits barely even covering the medical loan repayments and work no longer holding a position for me, shit really was at it's worse. I could survive... but when my situation would effect others... namely the housemates who I would consider family, I had to make a decision in everyones best interest and not be a financial burden on them to move out.
This was made possible by the kindness of
luketh and
jesad who have taken me in and are helping me get on my feet... I could write for hours how amazingly great these guys are... but Im sure anyone who ever knows them knows already.
And then, last week... everything came together. The moving company I originally enquired with had a backrun space available for half of what everyone was asking to move, the catch was it was to depart in 5 days... I had to pack up my entire life and move within less than a week. Packing certainly left me limited time to say goodbye to everyone... I know I missed a lot of people and they are hurt... I'm very sorry for that.
In addition, I sent out (blindly) applications to a few lasertag centres in sydney... to recieve a phonecall back within 5 minutes from one of the more larger ones offering me an interview tomorrow... The prospect of a job within 1 day of being here, certainly has lifted my spirits.
And so, within a week... things have gone from absolute worse to a renewed and great high for me. I am with people I love, hopefully doing the thing I love and starting a brand new adventure... hopefully a second, second chance at a new life.

We left off with a dragon and a Rex, outbound and on an adventure across country to the land of atlanta for FWA. Let's start there!
Despite not attending any of the events at all; I very much enjoyed FWA. I'm not a panel or dance guy, so most of the stuff didn't entirely appeal to me but I very much enjoyed the company of the Dino and the few folks I did know who attended. Was a bit disappointing with some friends who promised to hang out heaps then piked every chance they could get, but it was made up by making new friends and getting to spend a lot more time just hanging out with Mac and doing what we wanted to do. Im sure everyone has over-reported the elevator issue, personally I feel that it's blow way out of proportion by the same inconsiderate self-entitled people who added to the issue with disrespect to fellow con attendees. Let it be said if I ever catch FurDU attendees drunkedly mashing elderly people into the elevator walls, shouting profanties... there will be hell to pay.
I finally got to meet Cinders, Purity, AsheTiger and Arc... all of whom were just as amazing and fun to be around with in real life as they are online. Also bumped into Infy a few times and of course visited Dingoroo in the dealers den as much as I could. The highlight of the con for me was discovering
tato and getting her to sketch in my book. OMG, that artz. (Expect to see a commission from her as soon as I can afford it :D) Introduced Macroceli to a bunch of awesome movies he missed from last year and got drunk a few nights and made some waiters night by being extravertedly silly :) I think If I were to attend again, it would be with a solid reliable group that we could all share the fantastic moments together :)
The day after the con we embarked on our second leg of the trip towards Orlando with good friends, theme parks and adventures in our sights! We were certainly not dissapointed.
Chase had kindly offered to host us for the handful of days before we started theme parking... let it be said that this dino and dragon were severely spoiled by the wolf. Chase is an amazing cook and made some of the most delicious food I've ever eaten. That soup we had, nearly turned me into soup. We got to meet his housemates
exlof and
pickra who were awesome, hang out with him and them, watch stuff together and had a fantastic time. On the side, Macroceli and I went for a game of mini golf and saw "Burt Wonderstone" and "Identity Theft" Both were alright movies, but folks at home... wait for them to be piratable. (not worth $20 ticket). Thursday night chase invited a bunch of folks over for a big southern cooked chicken feast... again amazing. I seemed to have picked up a case of being socially retarded when it comes to folks I don't know.. and rather just sat shyly about and listened.
After the great meal we parted ways from chase (who if you are reading this, thankyou so much again :D A-) and onto
BlimpWolf and
Striker 's Place. Staying up rather late we chatted most of the night away before crashing rather hard.
Friday was Universal, Specs, Mac, BW and a very very tired dragon climbed into the car and set forth to the Theme parks. Harry Potter world, what can I say? Spread my ashes in the place when I die lol. We squished both the parks into one day, which was super busy but still got to do most everything. Universal was a whole lot of fun, especially harassing the dino and gimpfox in lines and stuff. I really look forward to taking Luke and Jes there one day and don't want to talk too much about it to ruin the surprises :D All the traveling and adventure got the better of me and I was very exhausted and tired early, we headed home... ate out at a fancy restraunt then cashed rather early.
Saturday was another early day, but BW let us sleep in. Packing our suits we headed off to Sunshine Wishes foundation for thier charity open day. This was the first time I've done mascot work since the last run of chemo and I was worried I wouldnt have the stamina to make it through, I did alright :) After we had lunch with dingoroo, wildwolf and co before heading to KP's place for Dingoroo's birthday party. Pictionary followed before an exausted lot fo fuzzballs called it a night.
Sunday was the day of rest... almost, we went out to TREX at downtown disney with dingoroo! then came home to a bit of an easier night with BW cooking a fantastic (and healthy) Dinner :D.
Monday Mac and I went to disney.. 14 hours of it; extended hours allowd us to hit up every park and spend enough time in it before moving onto the next one. So much fun, mostly involving the torment and destruction of children.
That leaves today, the road to chicago! Stay tuned :)

The great midwest adventure! (FWA and USA dragon) TLDR!
Posted 12 years agoI made it to the states in one piece, granted quite jetlagged and exhausted. Upon searching my bags and finding my fursuit, TSA decided that it was my intent to work in America and detained me for an hour or so whilst they called up the FWA hotel and checked the website to see if the con actually existed. If the strange looks about a almost 30 year old fat balding man wearing a dragon costume wasn't awkward enough; "seasons of love" (the theme to FWA) certainly raised a lot of questions. "Is this a sex convention" I was asked... Fortunately I've had a few years of experience with FurDU to know the right things to say to not sound like I am basically going to have penis in every orifice for the next foreseeable future. Satisfied that I was a harmless pervert and not gonna steal american jobs, they let me go.
26 hours of traveling, 9400 miles (1500kms) covered and a very talkative pill-popping woman next to me and I arrived at Chicago.
Macroceli Was already there, patiently awaiting to collect his meal/guest. There it was, snow... the fabled creature of legend finally revealed to me for the first time. Having never seen it before I underestimated it's bite and quickly learnt that shit is cooollld. Not before I throw a pile of it at the unimpressed Rex. This would become the recurring feature, every time there was snow readily able to be thrown at him....
.... I imagine Mac likes snow a whole lot less now...
After a day or two recovering from jetlag and I managed to maintain a sleeping pattern fit for the elderly. Dinner at 6pm, bed at dark and up at daybreak prepared for the day of knitting and rocking. I also immediately fell in love with a big black woman from mcdonalds who was super friendly and genuine when giving me my order... AND A TEEEENNN PIECE MIGHTY WINGS!!! (despite that wasn't at all what I ordered :P) I also went to the fabled lands of a 24hour supermarket at 3am... a legendary place where us backwards Australians could only ever dream of. I felt like I had to take my shoes off at the door and sacrifice a big mac or something to the welcome-er. We bought bacon.
Saturday arrived and it was time to see a bear in the wild
tolstoy to be exact! I would like to suggest that if you removed all the massive supermarkets and department stores between the two of them, they could be neighbors... but since every shop, caryard and foodplace is a square mile in size... they are at the opposite ends of the city. I imagine this is what the world would be like for me, if I was infact drake's size!
We had a pretty awesome dinner, First time having ever experienced a deep pan pizza I made quick work of a slice or two before inspecting what Macroceli had done. Rather than eating his pizza, he decided he would try and make it look like he had eaten it by smearing it across the table and plate.. nibbling on a bit of crust before declaring he was full! Lots of jokes and fun and good times were had and one very bad joke.. when the waitress asked if Tolstoy needed a new soda and I exclaimed that the rohypnol had yet to dissolve in his current one... she didn't find that all too funny. We then went out for ice-cream but was kicked out as macroceli just spread his across the table instead of eating it. Headed back to bears place where we met his cousin and played with his adorable dogs! I fell asleep on the car ride home :) tuckered out little dragon ;P
Since then I've been doing my best to not get sick.
On thursday Mac and I will be driving the long haul from Chicago to Atlanta leaving nice and early (4amish?) to arrive when rego opens and maybe to drop my book off at the artist ally before most likely collapsing in a pile of sleep and eat!
I'm both excited and nervous about this con as it's the first time I've attended a con where I haven't known a huge crowd of people too hide in. Whilst I know a bunch of folks going... it'll be a step out of my comfort zone getting to know lots of new people and stuff :) Super excited to be seeing everyone at FWA, meeting purity, Ashetiger,
Lost-cat,
Infernous for the first time and and seeing my old friends again :D (YAY
dingoroo )
OH also also also!!
OzKangaroo has repaired Drake suit; made heaps of changes (now a padded and fat and happy drake!) Thanks so much roo! you are amazing <3
I will elaborate more on the events and stuff as they happen, but here is a quick summary of post con adventure!
After the con we're gonna hit up the coke museum then we start the leg 2 of the adventure! A road trip to Orlando!!! For the first part
Chase has been amazing in offering his place to stay, followed by the weekend with
Blimpwolf time and budget permit we're hitting up universal at least... I NEEED to do harry potter world again *gasm* and then head home for a week in chicago before home to australia!
If I am at any place that you are, and you'd like to meet or catch up; please feel free to hit me up to hang out!; I'm not a creeper, I'm fairly able to maintain a conversation and my hygiene standards are acceptable. I'm often reserved and shy at first but always happy to meet new folks and make new friends :D
Looking forward to sharing my adventure with you all! Either irl or on here when it happens.

A tale of thankyou!
Posted 12 years agoOur story starts not yesterday but a few short months ago with a dragon down on his luck. We're all faced with times like this, true tragedy... getting home and realizing that you bought smooth peanut butter instead of crunchy or a friend not accepting a request on facebook... crippling moments in our lives where we just hate ourselves for our situation. Well, this dragon was defeated and had happily shut himself out from the world, to spare bringing anyone into his mess. Letting life slip on by; I imagine, is a lot like watching my little pony. At first you sit there, feeling sorry for yourself for having being subjected to the horrors. Complaining and feeling sorry for yourself and by the time you realise you could have just gotten up and changed the channel, you're already started to understand how others have come to like it and start to accept it yourself. Fittingly, both giving up on life and liking My Little Pony results in social exclusion, being coated in a thin layer of Doritos dust and a neckbeard that could beat chuck norris' in a arm wrestle.
So here I was, coated in fake cheese powder; sporting facial hair that would make a pedophile stand in ovation, socially withdrawn and feeling mighty sorry for myself. I'd climbed under the glass table and whilst I wasn't jerking off to the shit that life was dropping on me; I certainly couldn't explain how I came to have the hard on and didn't have much of a plan to move out from under it either.
And then, like in any good story when all hope was lost; a few more heroes were introduced. Inspiration is very much like herpies; it'll turn up out of no where, it sticks around for the rest of your life and it flares up unexpectedly... usually just in time to give it to others. You can get herpies anywhere, some get it from love, others from work and some questionably disturbed folk get it from their family. It's ironically fitting that I got my case of the herpes after a few visits to sydney! For those playing at home, I don't really have herpies... but I did get inspiration and tonnes of it from an incredibly unexpected place.
Ultimately, if I mentioned the people in my life who make it brighter every day just being a part of it; the officer whom will analyse all your corpses will suggest old age had killed you instead of boredom whilst reading it. It's always also difficult to articulate your appreciation and love for someone publicly without offending someone else or appearing to be partaking in a circle jerk. I'm rather unskilled at the art of circlejerking, apparently it's against the spirit of the game to stop midway and taste a bead of your neighbors' pre before turning to another and suggest that it does taste like pineapple. That being said the individuals whom have significantly changed the course of my life in the past few months are fully aware of thier value to me and I have discovered that the smell of branded and burnt flesh isn't as bad as I would have expected. These heroes, whether they either know or want to admit; have truly saved me from a fate far worse than ponys.
So we have a story with a bunch of un-named heroes both near and far whom through their actions of love selflessness saved a undeserving guy from himself. Who were there for me through the darkest of times, supporting me despite my resistances and self evaluations of worth... bringing me into the new year with a bounce in my step and the horizon in my eyes. For that gratitude can never truly compensate what they have done for me... and whilst I might not truly believe I deserve it, all I can do is live the rest of my life trying to live up to being worth it.
Thanks for being my hero.

FWA.
Posted 12 years agoI wasn't going to post this here...
When the few close people I already told have responded with either toxic or construing questions and jealousy you don't hold much hope for the greater internet. But this exceptionally nice surprise and the love that is shared should not go silently.
I received a message from Macroceli recently, simply it said "Check your email." Curiously I opened my mailbox and then sat in complete breathless awe for a few moments.
It was a return flight to him in Chicago with the intent to go to FWA. I'll be in USA for most of March....
Words can not describe the grattitude I have for this enormous gift. I certainly don't feel worthy of it, I barely feel worthy of most of your guys friendships half the time. I can not thank the Rex enough for what he has done. I'm not even going to try to put it to words on here.
With that being said, I'll be in Chicago for a few weeks next month! would love to catch up with folks though it's a holiday on an incredible tight budget (see: almost none x..x) I'm completely ok with making that work though, if I do nothing but spend my time with Mac, it'll be worth every second!
<3 Rex/Rhino
For those freaking the fuck out, relax... I will still be working on FurDU stuff whilst abroad.

Posted 12 years agoHow about that 2012?!
If anything I could say about this year is that it has not been without great highs and great lows. It's with the greatest high do I share with you all that as of earlier this month, I am back in remission. Whilst I still have some tests and treatments to do in the new year; I'm on the recovery bandwagon and doing great. Thank you all again for your amazing support during this time. I ask one more thing of you, allow me time to get my life back on track as I heal from this all both emotionally and financially. It's with that I apologize that this year I haven't been able to afford presents for my loved ones. My Job has been amazing in giving me a reduced salary for the time I have had off, but with amassing medical and household bills, I really haven't had much to splurge on those who matter most to me. For that I'm sorry.
To everyone reading, I hope you have a safe and merry Christmas with loved ones! I know I will be! Also for those wondering where I will be for the next 2 weeks... friday starts the DOTA 2 Christmas event.... see you all at the end of it ;P *nerd game on*

Posted 13 years agoThe results from the last scans and test are very positive, with significant reduction in tumours. With another chemo appointment down we're well on the final stretch to remission! I will be very greatful to see this over and return to employment and the real world. Again I can't thank everyone enough for the support and love they've shown during this less than desirable time. You lot have been my pillar of strength, love and support; it's humbling to have such amazing friends both irl and online.
As long as everything keeps on sailing smoothly, we'll be out of the water by jan/feb next year :)

Out of Town
Posted 13 years agoGonna be out of town for ~2 weeks. Seeya when I get back.
Chipper Update!
Posted 13 years agoHey guys!
We'll get the uglies out of the way first. Treatment is going well, recovered well from the first Chemo just in time for another dose this month and (hopefully last) one late November/Early December. Very appreciative of the support my friends and family have given me the past few months, you guys have truly helped me through this really dark time.
Now onto the good stuff!
It's macroceli 's Birthday today! One of the nicest, kindest, most funny people I have ever met in my life... this guy has a heart bigger than his character. It's been some time now since he moved back to america but it still feels like his home is here... like a family member who is taking a extended trip overseas. So, my dear dino... Have the best of days today especially, sleep in... loot a muffin store and roll through Chicago like the giant, lovable rex you are :) Love you lots ^^ Everyone should wish him a Happy Birthday on his page!
Despite a lot in my life taking a giant pause, FurDU preparation is still well under way. If I could say anything about running a convention; it would be that it's an ever evolving challenge, striving to be bigger and better. Frustratingly we're sitting ready to launch rego, website and announce a world of new things but are currently held back by one tiny critical detail out of our control. I'm looking forward to finally being able to reveal what we have worked hard on so far.
We have a visitor to Brisbane for a week! Mackenya the lil pink pony is a bit of a sweetheart and has taken some time off to come and keep me company/take care of me! I'm hoping that despite my destroyed sleep schedule and limitation of funds he still can have a great time here. Should be bringing him to all the usual weekly stuff and might organise something for Saturday to see him off as a massive thankyou :)
FurJAM was a few weeks ago and thanks to ozkangaroo I tagged along on the roadtrip down. Thanks to Jesad luketh and HarleyCoyote for putting us up and hanging out with us over the great weekend. FurJAM was a lot of fun and was great catching up with the locals who I seriously need to see more! You guys are great and much love ^^
Outside of sleeping like 20 hours a day I've been filling my time with a little bit of gaming. Have met some amazing furs along the way in (mis)adventures with left for dead2 and this week have hit the 500 hour mark of Dota2. Many late nights spent with a laugh and a M60 making new friends and terrorizing them ;P Oh also hit 80 and fully geared on my Guardian on Guild Wars 2. With all my friends having ditched it for Pandas In WoW, he'll probably collect dust until people hit me up for a run or the next expansion.
Welp I guess that's enough rambling for one night.. If I can leave with a final message to those close that I haven't had talked to in a while. I'm sorry I haven't been entirely verbose online. A destroyed sleep schedule, erratic mood swings, questions of self value and lack of passion to socialize really has taken it's toll in the past few months and I worry that this has taken quite permanently to some friendships. I hope in time I will be able to fix the damage I've caused and rebuild the love that I share for you guys... you're true-blue all amazing.
That's a dragon out!

A slight stumble on the road.
Posted 13 years agoSo, a pretty serious note.
A few weeks ago I undertook surgery to remove a small lump that had formed in the soft tissue around the upper jaw/inner ear which was causing pain/ear problems. The surgery was a success and I was sent on my way, feeling like a bazillion bucks. The biopsy on the lump however caused some additional concern so I had to have additional tests. The preliminary tests have yielded positive that I have came out of remission, although it has been detected very early and will be treatable.
This information I have kept to myself, having told only immediate family and house mates because there was no point to raise alarm if the tests returned with nothing. The fandom certainly has it's share of attention seekers and I certainly don't wish to be one of them. I'm not here for a pity party nor am I here to beg for money. It does appear however that I have offended some of my friends by not being forthcoming with the information so that they may offer support. There is no possible way that I could get in contact with you all, so I am writing this journal. Please do not see my silence as anything more than not raising alarm on something which could not have been a big deal and giving myself some time to process my own emotions and thoughts. I appreciate your support and well wishes but please don't be offended if I am not inclined to talk about it.
Please remain calm and don't lose your shit and I will do the same, everything is going to be all right.

Update
Posted 13 years ago2am on a school night and I'm up clattering away at a FA journal. Silly dragon. I'm rather high from a good day at work and a even better night of gaming so I am going to strike whilst the iron is hot and get an update in that is a snapshot of where I am at.

Work

Still working at the bank, still looking for a way out (career at a theme park either here and america) Resume probably needs a touch up at the moment and I should be more proactive with applying for disney/6 flags/paramount parks in america. I'm often shyed off it though fearing the poor wages there, the cost of rent and the $100 per week chemo debt I still have 5 years to pay off... but america... yeah x..x

Furry life?
-=-=-=-
A while back I was contemplating shifting my species over to a chameleon, I'm certainly glad I didn't because it was totally a flavour of the month.... which has surfaced again in the form of a bear. I'm loving Ursa on Dota and play a bear druid in both WoW and dungeons and dragons online... seemingly everything is bear in my life at the moment and those big furred critters just.... hehe
Maybe I need to be eaten by more bears *nods and chuckles*
Once surgery bills are cleared I hope to commission a whole lot more vore stuff and post it to my own fa a bit more. I'm sorry that hasnt been too much and that a few promised or gift pieces have yet to surface, I know that the people I've commissioned are working hard to clear their backlog and potentially get to mine but I don't have high hopes of seeing it. Do me a favour and if there was a piece of us I was getting drawn, re-remind me and I'll start working to having it done elsewhere (or done at all, I have a terrible memory when it comes to this stuff lol). If there is an awesome idea you guys want to see drake in (remember he does like his implied digestion/multi characters) swing me a note and I can (fap to it) have it drawn :D.. eventually ;D
That being said, I'd like to RP more with you guys. I know I don't do it very often (I feel greedy/selfish getting folks to eat me and make a terrible pred so i tend to shy away from rps) and when I do I am often pulled away with a very active household and IRL. That does require me to be on chat programs however lol.

So I've been playing an awful lot of Dota 2 recently. Loving the spellcasters/nukers quite a bit (Zeus, Ursa and Ogre Magi are my favourites) and quickly amassing games behind my belt with a heap of items. If you have the game and want to play with me, or want a copy of the game (I get invites from time to time) add me to steam! You can find me on my FA front page :D
Speaking of items, I'm finally cleaning out my closet of TF2 Items. Been in chat with trading it off for some art or games for some of the gear and the rest I'll just give away after: if there is anything on my inventory you must have, get in touch! It's here at http://www.tf2items.com/id/flamedrake
Played a game called "ghost trick." It's available on DS and Iphone for $10. This game took me by surprise as I havent played a click adventure for quite some time... the story is great and the challenges are both rewarding and clever. I admit I cried at the end, which I totally didn't predict. I found myself wanting to stay up till way late at the night to finish each chapter just so I could see what happened next! Really enjoyable game.
Back on BF3 again too: origin is FlameDrake.. Add me if you want to play sometime.

FurDU is done and gone, folks seemed to have a good time so I hope it was a success. Planning for next year has taken a bit of a sluggish start, I'm taking a lot of responsibility for that as I just haven't had the motivation to work on it. (Joey and Oz have been great though!) *puts on his PR hat* Lots of exciting news to come regarding our lineup of events, guests and venue :D
RIVFUR just finished, it's interesting to see the direction that it's heading towards, speeding crazily away from the envision that Foxy and I had when we created it. Despite missing half the events with a ruptured eardrum, folks seemed to have a good time so the organiser's work certainly paid off.
I just had a bit of a self love anti-humble moment... I've co-created 2 major furmeets/con in Australia ^^;;; *blush*
As much as I really want to, with reduced hours at work and a light stumble in finances... a con in america is not going to happen this year ( I was really hoping for MWFF agian) . I'd like to perhaps instead attend midfur in melbourne at the end of the year but with both the main hotel filled up and rego being where it's at... that might not eventuate as well. It looks like it is set to be the best one yet and with a great line up of special guests, if you are able to attend I'd do so.

There is a lot of negative in my life at the moment; health, emotions and financial situation taking quite the nosedive over the past few months. I haven't been fun to be around, I know this. I haven't been around online and when I am I'm not the most striking conversationalist, I know this. I have bitched and griped and probably pushed away most of you, I know this. To the people reading this who know exactly what I'm talking about... I'm sorry for the massive space I've wrenched in our lives. I am working on fixing me and with a little patience and a bit of healing will be back to the place where I want to be. I remorse over the distance I have put between you all, there are some people out there I really, truly love but have had to push away to preserve what is left of my barriers; they will be rebuilt and I will try and be a part of your lives again.
I'd love to name a few folks that have really been an amazing support in my life at the moment, but I fear I would leave someone out so to circumvent this... you guys know who you are. I really appreciate the strength you've given me over these past few months both in person and via the intra webs. Thankyou <3

Post-FurDU Adventure?
Posted 13 years agoHi guys!
Putting together a bit of a post con-adventure, nothing is concrete yet and people would have to either arrange their own or offer transport but what are folks thoughts about the following :)?
Monday (30th) night: Meeting for fish and chips at southbank then after catch a movie. Was thinking of The avengers. Southbank movie prices are $7.50 per person. ($13 for 3d)
Tuesday: Was thinking of a wind down in the (brisbane) city, show some of the tourists hanging out a bit of the city... get a bite to eat, maybe some laser tag or something?
Tuesday night: Regular south side coffee meet probably expecting attendance of 30 or so furs.
Wednesday: Movie world or dream world visit. Right now to all australians you can get unlimited entry to Movieworld till end of june for half price ($40) http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68167
If folks aren't keen for movieworld, then there is dreamworld offering $69 unlimited till september! http://www.dreamworld.com.au/Visito.....mmer-Pass.aspx
Wednesday night: probably a quiet one at home, watching a Movie or something.. get yatala pies :D
So, if folks seem interested I'll start getting things together.. who's keen?
:D

On the road! First stop: Sydney/NSW
Posted 13 years agoWell, the weeks rest at home has been great but once again I'm off on the road for another month. It means that my online time will be limited to locations that have 3g service. Please forgive me if I dissapear from chats or dont respond to messages in a timely fassion.
The first leg of the tour is regional nsw, stopping off in Sydney and Canberra for a few days of rest :) If anyone wants to catch up in Sydney for drinks or a meal we're down there from 3rd - 6th with Sunday the 4th completely free and Canberra from 10th to the 12th with the 11th completely off too (looking at you osmosis) Whilst we dont have days off in the towns, if anyone is in the following places and wants to catch up for a dinner or movie or something: Narrabri, Gunnedah, Port Macquarie, Taree, Newcastle, Wollongong, Nowra, Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Griffith and Wagga wagga.. give us a poke and we can try and sort something out ^^
From there we will hit up Regional Victoria then be doing an extensive tour of south australia before comming home just before furdu! This year certainly has posed a busy one already and looking forward to sharing some amazing adventures I've had as the cookie monster :)

Furs needed for a Furry Gameshow survey!
Posted 13 years agoIt's that time again folks!
I'm looking for furs who are not attending this year's furdu to spend a few moments of thier time in completing a small questionare for this years Furry Night live gameshow Furmly Fued!
Example:
1. Something you bring to a furcon
Sketchbook
The more responses the better so if you have friends who aren't attending and wouldn't mind helping out answering a few questions please send them this way :)
We're trying to keep these questions a surprise so if you know someone attending the convention, please don't give them a copy!
So who's in? :D

Adventure continues!
Posted 13 years agoSo a few more days have passed and we've landed in Townsville, Queensland. It's with a heavy heart that I think we have discovered the most unfriendly place in Australia. I dont think I have experienced customer service this bad since I was last in San Francisco. With 4+ hours of driving and then PR appearances every day I certainly can see the appeal of being on the road. Pay Day today, didnt see much of it once rent, powerbill and phone and internet were taken out but the best part about being away from civilization is the inability to impulse buy.
It's been pretty amazing being able to chat with folks in my downtime, meeting new friends and catching up with old :) Thanks everyone for being some pretty great friends... oh and also *blush* feel free to nom a dragon from time to time :P
To end with some rather darker news from this week. A Year or so ago I was fortunate to unbox an unusual TF2 hat. I dont really play too much TF2 and only have the vast collection because I do enjoy the gamble of unboxing and the spirit of collecting. Now since the day I got it, I've had offers from others to buy the hat... most of them either not eventuating or declined because it held quite sentimental value. Last week, because of the gap between my old job and my new work paying i was a bit short so I decided to sell up. A long story short, after receiving the trade; the buyer reversed the paypal transaction and I was scammed out of the $180 of items I sold. Paypal does not count the screenshot of the completed trade as a valid proof of delivery and Valve dont look kindly on their intellectual property being sold so there is no chance of me ever seeing either again. It sucks that it happened but there is no use getting upset over things I can't control. The price you pay for trusting another but I hope my story serves as a lesson to others!

Australian Tour! April info Pre-post furdu plans!
Posted 13 years agoSo we're a week into our tour and things have certainly been... interesting! It's been a whole lot of fun and seeing and staying in the rural parts of Australia; you certainly get an appreciation of the diverse costal to country landscape bringing an even more diverse arrangement of animals. As you're driving down the road, wedge tailed eagles swoop your car taking cheap thrills off the back-wash of air whilst you pass a pack of emus just chilling out by the side of the road. Cows and Horse farms separate the kilometers upon kilometers of sugar cain and wheat farms. But honestly, it all becomes background noise as I sleep in the car for most of the trips :P
Motel life is certainly a game of chance, you climb into bed praying to god that the reason your sheets are stiff are because they're brand new and not because it's crusted with spunk. Nothing more fun then getting comfy in bed and then playing the nervous game of "Is that MY pubic hair?" We've stayed at some pretty seedy places, one conveniently positioned on the back of a graveyard which Im sure is quite the appeal for all the truckers looking for a place where they wont have to drag a dead hooker far.
There is an awful sense of local pride here and a lot of the places we have been people have been incredibly friendly... you do however come across a few single toothed rednecks who probably wouldn't need their kangaroo shooting rifle to scare you away if their extensive knowledge of offensive language and leathery skinned scowls had something to say.
I don't know if it's because I have a lot of time or because I dont have the internet and WoW to distract me, but I certainly have been a lot more conversational online.. if folks want to chat whilst I am on the road I am on AIM : Treedrake and MSN: treedrake[at]gmail.com :) Understand that due to the rural area, I dont always have service and disconnect a bit from time to time.
From here, we are heading to AYR > TOWNSVILLE > CAIRNS > INGAM > PROSPINE > GLADSTONE > GYMPIE > SUNSHINE COAST in queensland before being home in brisbane for about 10 days before heading to GUNNEDAH > TAMWORTH > ARMIDALE > PORT MAQUARRIE > TAREE > NEWCASTLE > KENGSINGTON > WOLLONGONG > NOWRA > CANBERRA > BATHURST > ORANGE > DUBBO In NSW before shooting over to GRIFFITH > WAGGA WAGGA > ALBURY > WANGARATTA > SHEPPARATON > BENDIGO > BALLARAT > COLAC > WARRNAMBOOL in VIC before heading to South australia with MOUNT GAMBIER > NORLUNGA > ADELIADE > WHYALLA then spending a few days in adeliade then comming home on the 2nd of april. if folks are local to any of those places and want to catch up! get hold of me :) would be nice to see some friendly faces!
FURDU is comming along great, we've got some massive exciting things to announce... the new schedule is on it's way and rego's are filling up faster than we anticipated. Super sponser places have like 1 space left and i think we're approaching the 70% on the plain rego. Still got a long ways to go; lots of entertainment to really set new heights for furDU!
APRIL PLANS
After furdu, I will be organizing some adventures for our interstate friends, trips to theme parks, city tour and probably the occasional visit to game-places and dinners. Please get in touch if you want invites to this things! I cant keep solid track of who is staying in brisbane after the con :)
Anyways, that should be enough a wall of text for you guys for now
Miss ya's all and many love for those who want it ^^

Art incoming!
Posted 13 years agoSup folks!
Ive given up trying to keep atop of dissapearing submissions or artists purging account and losing dragon art in the process. In the comming few days I will be posting a fair chunk of commissioned art from over the few years. I'll try and spread it over some time as not to art dump people's inboxes.
Just giving people heads up and an apology in advance for the spam.

July visit to america: megaplex and california! hosts? :D
Posted 13 years agoIt just so happens to be that this year Megaplex is within reasonable timeframe of the international laserforce tournament which I have been invited to represent Australia again for :)
Tentative dates would be as follows.
July 21st to 27th hang out at Orlando :D Anyone up for a dragon visitor? :D
July 27th-29th megaplex
July 30th - Aug 5th Laserforce internationals in Carmichael, California!
Aug 5th - Aug 11th hang out with peeps in cali? anyone up for a dragon visitor?
3 weeks is probably all the time I will be able to get off and budget will restrict me to only visiting Orlando and California.
*muses on it some*
