Angry BioShock 2 Kitty Rant

Ok I was going to flip through GameInformer from this month and head to bed but this royally pissed me off so I'm writing it here real fast.
"Big Daddy Explained
You gave Bioshock 2 and 8.25, but I strongly disagree with your major complaint. You said the game didn't make you feel as strong or awesome as a Big Daddy should be. If you'd played through the game and paid attention to the story, you'd know why that is so. The largest reason is this: Delta is an early series Big Daddy, which were less heavily armored than others. They are simply weaker. That is exacerbated by the fact you have been away from Eleanor for too long, and your body and mind are breaking down. Delta is basically a walking time bomb. In fact, within the fiction, his ability to survive 10 years away from his Little Sister is more of a stretch than the fact that he dies quickly.

Just because a design decision is supported by the plot doesn't mean it's a good decision to begin with. Imagine you're playing a Superman game, except Superman can't fly, isn't as strong, and is vulnerable to conventional weapons. No matter how the narrative explains why Superman is in the situation, players would be rightfully disappointed that the game doesn't remotely provide the experience they associate with being Superman. Similarly, the original BioShock built up the players' concept of what it means to be a Big Daddy, and the sequel doesn't deliver on it until the closing hours. Those complaints aside, Bioshock 2 does plenty of other things right, and is still an entertaining and memorable adventure that any fan of the original should check out."
GRRRR Big GRRRR! Oh just because the game isn't how WE thought it should be, it sucks. Screw the story! We just want what we want. Screw that. This - to me - is an embodyment of what gamers have become. Stuck up, pretencious, cry babies. I know their job is to rate games but when you get to the point of saying Halo deserves a 10 when someone from 5th grade could write the story and support it, just give up. I loved BioShock obviously and I loved the sequal because they stayed true to what they said they would. I think they bent over backwards a bit offering online multiplayer versus crap, but overall it doesn't take away from the game. I just really wanted to vent this because I am a dying breed of gamer. I can't play games just because OMFG CONTROLS ARE AWESOME AND I'M SUPAH POWERED BRAHHHH! or any of that crap. I need a good freaking story. I don't care if you bring me back to 8bit quality of gameplay and graphics, if the story is good, it's a good damn game. Honestly I think most of the time the same can be said about movies. Ok enough ranting now, just grrr.

Posted 16 years agoBlah, since I've pretty much given up on LJ just gonna vent here a bit.
I think I'm becoming an SL only furry. =_= It's kinda sad and I dunno how to feel about it but I find it becoming more and more true.
My latest commissions which I still am owed about 1 from one artist, 3 from another, and 2 from another one which have taken months now with no work (kinda urks me but meh I've learned my lesson now). Kinda drills into it me not wanting art cause I'm mildly feeling a bit screwed over.
Also furry cons just aren't appealing, I feel like I lack the connection or social butterflyness that many have and the excess money and time it takes to even do it all.
I am happy and do not EVER regret having my fursuit, I don't need to go to a con to don it or feel sad because I'm not going to a con and such means I have or don't have to wear it.
Plus I find myself more around humans and wanting to be with furries yet just not fitting in. Maybe because I lack the various sterotypes that go with either A. Being Social/Sexual/Etc. or B. Being an Artist/Creator/Etc. so there just leaves plain little furry loving consumer me.
I do however find myself sinking back into my japanese loving traits. I'm still all shy as heck and giddy towards them as ever and doubt that will ever change.
I dunno maybe this whole maturing thing is changing my or whatever, or maybe it's the lack of furry friends, being screwed over by artists, who knows. =_=;
Either way, I didn't wanna go this route but I wonder if there's anything I haven't thought of that I could do.
(Granted I know no one's gonna comment so it's a retorical question.)

Silent Hill : Shattered Game Series

So I'm lookin forward to some games coming out but curiousity once again got the better of me so I decided to look up Silent Hill Shattered Memories. Aka Silent Hill USA NOT HAPPY WITH ORIGINAL GAME WE MAKE BETTER UGH! :B
So ya I'm checkin it out and wanting to just tear off my head because I'm so sick and tired of the US remake of the first one. I can't even begin to rant on how much story is utterly shattered (maybe that's what inspired the name) in this. Plus not to mention in the beginning you answering some survey utimately determines what is going to happen in your game. Ohhhhh replay value - seriously I'd replay for an awesome costume. I dun wanna have to play around with some survey shit just to alter the game.
The gameplay seems kinda similar to SH4 (which also sucked but at least they kinda tried) but either way the story is so ruined it makes me wanna cry. I swear the series went downhill once the SH Movie and SH4 kinda came around. I had to admit I had a lil hope for SH Origins but that was the dying light.
Sorry if I offend anyone with this but I'm a major Silent Hill fan. THE ORIGINAL FUCKING JAPANESE STORY SILENT HILL, not these goddam bastardizations that the US company (that Konami handed the series over to, to take care of) is popping out.
*Sigh* I feel a little better but not really. =_= I think these games would have been fine (the US ones) if they did something other than Silent Hill, the games aren't terrible but they just aren't Silent Hill.

Also I've been on a crazy Fatal Frame aka Project Zero kick and finally getting some progress with playing the 3rd. BUT OMFG NEEDZ 4th. T-T I'm sooooooooooooooooooo sad that it will never be released in the US. Not that I can blame them, we suck. =_= We probably only get like 10% of japanese games over here compared to ones that are actually released in Japan. ;-; Neeeeds bloooood. Neeeeds really goddam good horror games!
Dunno but it kinda feels like the horror genre is turning...soft... if you will. Resident Evil, I used to love it the whole evul corporations, mutations, zombies fun fun fun! But now it's a little too much on the action side I guess for me. And the whole las plagas and uroburos crap may do it for some people? For some reason, ain't as good as the old T and G virus for me. <3 Silent Hill went down the crapper once 4 came out in my opinion (granted I didn't get to finish Origins - but what I did play of it, wasen't very good... and didn't play 5 because...I dunno, it's like sitting over there but once they handed it off to the US counterparts and I watched all the behind the sceens crap abou it BIG turnoff).
Soooo what's left? Not much I guess, Siren I tried getting into when it first came out. But giant asian town and everyones speaking in UK tongue? Uh kthnxnu. I dunnos, I feel like I'm behind hung out to dry. The last best horror game series I think is Fatal Frame/Project Zero. If anyone reads omfg please save me and find me some good horror ;-;

School has really dragged me outta the fandom due to lack of jobage and monies and the like.
But it's pretty bad when looking at furry art makes ya sad anymore. :s It's like, did I ever exsist?
Then looking around and seeing characters that look almost exactly like you makes ya just wanna cry sometimes. T-T Gah.

But meanwhile my SL life has been boomingly busy. If you have a SL account feel free to hit me up and say hi or something - Serenity Semple - is my name but please tell wtf you are or something so I dun think yer a creepy stalker.

Um otherwise school has kept me busy, I'm gonna be in the upcoming SL Fashion Show for the Charity for k9's and that's this Sunday in SL @ noon. I can toss out LMs or something if people want (I doubt they care XD)

Posted 18 years agoOMG I so haven't been keeping up with this like I should have. I'm tempted to do an outside photoshoot in all my outfits, if I can get a darn camera. >.>;;;
But also I might be putting up my outfit designs soon in my scraps if anyone is interested. :> Otherwise I'm so addicted to SL and GrimGrimoire! ;-;
