MFF con report 2011
Posted 14 years agoThis year at MFF was awesome. I got to meet so many awesome people, too many to list. I only name a few down here so if I didn't list you, I'm sorry, be assured though that I did have fun hanging out with everyone.
My mate and I flew up there together and took the shuttle from the airport with Giza. When we got there, we checked in and munched on cheese curds our roommate had bought. After that I got into suit and ran around the hotel for a bit, enjoying the cold and dry Chicago weather. My mate and I were the first ones in line to go through registration and picked up our shiny sponsor packets and special gifts. I took it easy after than and went to bed at a decent time for a furry con.
On Friday I got up and had breakfast at the awesome restaurant in the hotel. Granted it's not cheap, but the food is very good. The rest of the day consisted of fursuiting, meeting both the head of Midfur (Cynwolf) and BBF, and going to Kage's various panels in suit with my mate so he could show the proper way to deal with fursuiters to new con attendees. I got out of suit and went though the artist alley and dealer's den a bit later in the day. I really never expect to find much that I actually wanna buy, but I did find something. I bought some blue knit hand paws that are good gloves and are super warm and the Bitter Lake DVD NTSC version (aka made for the USA). Later in the afternoon was the single best thing for shiny sponsors, the shiny sponsor meet at the top of the hotel. The food up there was very very good, as was the selection at the bar (for those of us who are old enough to drink, and didn't drink underage, like i am sure many furs did in room parties at the con). The chance to just go up there and sit and eat and drink and watch the planes come into the airport right over the hotel is something I look forward to now every year. The shiny sponsor isn't cheap, but they treat us well at MFF. Kage went on stage for his hour and then 2 did the same, what an awesome way to end the night. =^_^=
Saturday saw my mate and I down at the sponsor's brunch with the famous Hyatt brunch with everything you can think of for breakfast including omelets, cereal, juices, pancakes, bacon, sausage, coffee, bagels, bread, and even things you'd not think you'd see for breakfast. The fursuit parade was after that. This fursuit parade will stick in my mind because I followed
theiratefox with him in his super adorable plushie fox suit. I am soon to get a plushie suit of my own. I followed him cause he was the only plushie in the parade, as far as he and I could tell, I was there as a spotter in case he needed help, cause his paws were totally useless and his suit was all one piece. When we got into the headless lounge and I had helped him out of the upper part of his suit. I then asked if I could see what the paws of the suit felt like to be worn, so I would know for when my suit is completed. The feeling of wearing that kind of totally restricting, no dexterity paw was very awesome and completely different from anything I've ever experienced before, I like it. I can't even really describe how it felt. Hehe, sorry for the sidetrack there, anyway, back to getting on with the day. After more suiting and then having dinner (Chicago deep dish pizza from the best place in Chicago) and sitting around shooting the breeze in the hotel bar with friends, my mate and I went to the Kage and 2 charity show. The show started at 11 pm and was supposed to be done at midnight. They didn't get off the stage until past 2 am. We then, after talking with Kage for a bit, we went back and talked with 2 until nearly 4 in the morning.
Sunday was a much more lazy day, had brunch in the hotel restaurant, and then I went out suiting again. (I did that most of the con if you couldn't tell =^_^= ) After going through the dealer's den and artist alley again, I played some of the fursuit games and then got out of suit for the closing ceremonies. After that I suited yet again for a little before plopping down in the bar again to have more deep dish pizza. The group of friends then went to see BBF DJ the final dance. That man is good. I am a sound designer, and BBF knows how to mix songs, using EQ, looping, filters, pushing or pulling the playback speed of a song to match with the one currently playing. I was just amazed, I don't think I've ever heard someone do so much work to mix songs together, and change songs so much.
We left monday morning to fly back home, another con down, another one enjoyed, another one I'll never forget. I forgot to mention in there the number of awesome fursuiters I met both for the first time and again. Both Lav and Der shep, you guys are awesome, and thank you Der for the mouse. To all the Midori plushie suiters, plushie fox theiratefox , plushie cheetah, plushie german shepherd, and plushie rottie 
denimwizard , and esp to 
midori8 herself, thank you all for being so super cute and huggable and OMG I wanna cuddle you adorable. Thank you also to all the other suiters I saw and interacted with, you were all awesome and cute to see and hug and pose with. =^_^=

Puss in Boots, OMG hilarious (no spoilers...well, maybe 1)
Posted 14 years agoJust got back from seeing the new movie "Puss in Boots." Loved the movie. It was hilarious to see Antonio Bandaras reprising the role from the "Shrek" movies. The way the different fairytales were woven together was brilliant.
Only hint I'll give about the movie - Kitty Softpaws *poof*
Go see it, every furry should appreciate it. =^_^=
From a filmmaker's perspective, as I am in school for sound design for movies and TV, the animation was of course very similar to "Shrek" and the whole thing was shot to resemble a Zorro movie, from the lighting, to the camera work, to the music and sound design. I don't think it'll win any huge awards, but it was still hilarious and a good escape from the riggers of real life.
Only hint I'll give about the movie - Kitty Softpaws *poof*

Posted 14 years agoJust been thinking. Today is my birthday and its gonna kind suck. I have to work all this afternoon/evening. Thankfully tomorrow I'll be going out with a few friends to celebrate it.
The first part of this month is gonna suck too, I have to go home for a week cause my parents miss me a lot. Then in the second half of the month I get to go up to Virginia to be with my mate and go to AC and then help him move down here with me, so yay. =^_^= That is going to be the best birthday present ever, having him move in with me, getting to sleep next to him every night, cuddling up to him when I get home from school or work.
Oh well, I have school to finish for the quarter and packing to do for AC before I go to my parents, cause I am shipping my suit up to my mate's ahead of me flying there, so it'll be there when I get there.
I hope to see a lot of you at AC, and have a good June 1st. =^_^=

Furry ID Theft

I have noticed a round of ID thefts of people's online presence within the furry community. People have been victimized by others going into chat rooms and Skype and such saying that they are someone else and upsetting people and causing the person they are pretending to be to get a bad name.
Just as a note, this is my ONLY FA account, I have a Facebook account: http://www.facebook.com/foxwolf.ninetails , I have an LJ account: http://foxwolfac.livejournal.com/profile/ .
I also have an AIM and a YIM account as well as a Skype account. If on YIM, AIM, or Skype I haven't talked to you somewhere else, I will NOT add you, no offense meant, I am just overly protective like that.
As for chat rooms, I NEVER EVER visit chat rooms. Granted I used to visit IRC when furtopia was still around, but I have not visited there in years.

New positive furry interview

I was going through my journals list and came upon one that
skaifox posted about an interview with furries that was actually extremely positive. I was skeptical at first, but after watching it I am blown away. It is so incredible, it has probably the best and most eloquent interviews I have ever seen.

I can only hope that this video is picked up by something to help boost our positive image and reception. (Though being a sound designer the audio needs a lot of work, but that is minor compared to the quality of the material.)

My biggest dream is to live in a place where it is cold enough and where I have a job that I can wear my fursuit almost all the time as my clothes, cause it is so much more fun to wear a fursuit rather than boring clothes. Hehehe. On the more unrealistic side, I would seriously love it if my fursuit were to become my skin, then I'd be furry, fuzzy, and cute foe the rest of my life. =^_^=

Ok, so I missed this yesterday, oops, oh well.
In my family, no one know about my fursuits. Though my dad would probably not care too much, and my mom would probably flip a lid. A few of my school friends know and they are cool with my suits, my one friend, who is a director and now has me playing a werewolf in his senior film, was totally ecstatic about it because he has wanted to make a werewolf film for a while, but he couldn't find anyone who he could, in good conscience, torture to wear a full body costume like that. Hehe.

Hmmmmm, this one is difficult. I can't rightly remember a really bad situation when fursuiting. Probably the worst thing was when I wanted to fursuit at the mall and before I got there, I was told that the mall would only let me do that if I didn't wear the head. But at that point, what is the reason to fursuit in public anyway?

MFF con report (longish)
Posted 15 years agoThis was an awesome con. I had more fun there than I was expecting. =^_^=
I got into Midway at about 10:30 pm Thursday evening and didn't get to the hotel until about 12:45 am cause the L was slow. When I got there, my mate wolfboy1 was there and waiting for me and jumped into my arms. It had been a long time since I had seen him last, I missed him very much and he missed me.
On Friday morning I registered for the con and upgraded to shiny sponsorship (which I am very very glad I did). I then got in suit along with wolfboy1 and we went to the 'so this is your first con' panel. We suited around a bit after that and then went back to change out of suit. We walked around the con a bit until the evening when we went up to the shiny sponsor cocktail thing. There were about 20 of us up there and we had some incredible appetizers and a fully open bar at the top of the hotel. After hanging out with 2 and Uncle Kage for a bit, they left to get ready for their shows and we followed down a bit after that. This was the first time I attended either of their shows and I see why people love them so much, they are awesome comedians on their own, but get them together and they are unstoppable. The shows ended, sadly, hehe, and we walked around the con a bit and eventually went to bed.
We got up Saturday morning and went to the sponsor brunch with a full Hyatt brunch menu. If anyone has had a full Hyatt brunch then you know how awesome it is. We talked with 2 for a bit and then went upstairs to get into suit for the parade. It was a loooooooooong parade, thats for sure, I don't remember how many suiters there were, but I know it was a lot. I went into the headless lounge for a bit to cool off after the parade and then eventually went up to the room to change out of my suit. I wandered through the artist alley, art show, and dealer's den before buying a big squeaky plush bone. I am in love with that thing. =^_^= When I get my suit (I shipped it with fedex and the bone is in that) I will take pics and post them. We had dinner at the fabulous restaurant in the hotel (if not a tad bit expensive) and then went to 2 and Kage's charity show. I have never laughed so hard in all my life. The show ran from 11 pm until past 1:30 am. We got to bed late that night after walking around interacting with various furs who were still up and in the con suite.
We awoke at a reasonable hour on Sunday and went down into the dealer's den and artist alley to get a few artworks. I had torn a hole in one of the seams of the bone the day before and took it to the girl who made it and she fixed it no problem. =^_^= We went to Kage's panel about 'talking to parents about furry.' The man makes just so danged much sense. Afterwards, we went to get into suit and attended closing ceremonies. The charity received just over $11,000.00 from the con this year, which is incredible and awesome. We putted around the con in suit for a good bit because we weren't scheduled to leave 'til Monday. We ordered a deep dish pizza to the hotel and split it with Kage. He went to bed early because he had a super early flight. After he left we went up with a fur to his room and talked for hours and he massaged my back and Cryo and I massaged his back. We went to bed super late.
We got up earlier than I thought we would. It was a good thing because it took me a while to get packed and ship my suit back home. I didn't want to leave the con. It was not so much because the con was ending as it was that I was having to leave my wolfboy1 . I was actually teary-eyed and had a knot in my throat. The thought of not being able to sleep next to him and kiss him and just plain be around him, especially after such an incredible weekend.
I am sorry for such a long journal, but I just had to write it down. =^_^=

We got up earlier than I thought we would. It was a good thing because it took me a while to get packed and ship my suit back home. I didn't want to leave the con. It was not so much because the con was ending as it was that I was having to leave my
wolfboy1 . I was actually teary-eyed and had a knot in my throat. The thought of not being able to sleep next to him and kiss him and just plain be around him, especially after such an incredible weekend.I am sorry for such a long journal, but I just had to write it down. =^_^=

Posted 15 years agoMy mother pisses me off so damned much sometimes. She called me up today to bitch me out about what is going to be done about christmas, now that my mate and I are broken up. She then went into a rant about how I should not go after someone else so soon after breaking up and how I should not even be a furry because being a furry will affect my job possibilities after I get out of school.
I am sorry, but even aside from the fact that they have no control over me at this point, my mother is being an unreasonable cunt. Her bitching about me being a fur pissed me off so much because she, when she and my dad were here for my graduation from the BFA program, was more or less totally cool with me being a furry. Now, with the reaction she gave me tonight, she is basically saying that she either lied then about how she felt about it, or she's lying now, which do I trust and how can I know when to trust her again?
And the bitch wonders why I don't tell her everything and keep things from her.
The whole shit-storm started when she asked me about a note I'd put on my x-mas list about wanting my stuff from when I was little, my stuffed animals and the like. I had put that on there because I thought we were all cool about that, APPARENTLY I was wrong.
I am seriously considering calling her back and telling her that if she is going to act this way, than I do not want to spend christmas with her, because I do not want to be lectured to about my own damned life, which is going quite well without her loitering over my shoulder and prying into my every move.
