Another year, another tick on the age-ometer.

Farewell, fistula!
General | Posted 8 months agoHey-hey, just another quick update in regards to my health situation here!
So in my last journal, I mentioned that my doctor determined that my abscess had turned into a full-on fistula, and I'd likely need surgery for it.
Well, in the time between then and now, a LOT has happened. My brother entered a manic cycle, had to deal with that for all of February till he was finally hospitalized for a week. He's doing alright now, just anxiety issues, and new meds, etc. Last month on the 27th, I had my surgical assessment from the surgeon my doctor recommended, got checked out, and the choices were to either do antibiotics, or just get the surgery straight-up.
As you can imagine from the journal title here, I chose the latter! Because I did not want to deal with the prospect of having to suppress the damn thing for months at a time, then have it pop back up like an unwanted zit, or pimple, etc. So.. Yeah. Had my pre-op exam last week on the 17th, and finally today, the surgery itself.
And it couldn't have turned out any better. Surgeon was able to completely remove the entirety of the fistula, no major complications, nothing! I was out like a light from anesthesia, and they did their due diligence. Arrived at the hospital around 7:30 this morning. And it was well after noon by the time I was discharged from the hospital to go home. Pretty much got back around quarter to 2, and I've just been taking it easy.
Long and short of it? I'm okay, I'm just gonna be in recovery for a few weeks. Gotta put padding in my boxers to make sure there's no extra drainage, apply ointment to my wound, clean it with water after bowel movements, etc. And irrigate it twice a day with a peri bottle or shower sprayer.
But once all's said and done, and once I have my follow-up next month with my surgeon, I should pretty much be back to normal. And goodbye to jamming toilet paper between my legs. EASILY the most annoying part of this 3-month struggle!

Holy shit. Been a while. Here's what's up with me.
General | Posted 10 months agoFor those of you watching me, you've no doubt noticed my utter lack of activity, journal or submission-wise. Welp, that changed today because I've come to make an announcement:
For the past 6+ weeks, I've been dealing with a perineum abscess. Started little more than a week into December. Got worse by the 11th onward, until I finally went to urgent care on the 18th to figure out what was going on.
After being deferred to a proper hospital once the issue was identified, I had it lanced and drained, which wasn't fun. And continued to drain for several days after the fact, while being prescribed antibiotics not just for the abscess, but also the cause of it: a case of e.coli! Just my luck, huh?
So I proceeded apace for the next couple weeks after that, but the abscess itself still didn't quite fade away. I went and saw my physician two weeks ago, and he prescribed stronger antibiotics for a 10-day period. And was told to come see him again today, which I have done.
It became very readily apparent, unsurprisingly considering how my luck tends to fluctuate wildly, that this wasn't about to go away on its own, leading to the inevitable conclusion that the abscess has developed into a full-on fistula. For those who know what that is, or have even experienced one yourselves, you're probably wincing at the memory of it surfacing,
For those who don't know, not to worry, I won't bore you with the details, just know that in situations like these, the most effective sure-fire treatment is an excision of the affected area. This does of course mean I'll be put under anesthesia for the first time in my life, while they effect the procedure, which I've been told shouldn't run more than roughly half an hour.
My doctor has already recommended a surgeon for me to contact, make an appointment, and hopefully one that my insurance will cover. (After all, gotta love America's shitty-ass healthcare system, am I right?) But when all's said and done, it'll be one worry I'll never have to cordon a section of my mind off to stressing the fuck out over.
So... Overall? Not the greatest start to my 2025, but here's hoping once I've dealt with all this bullshit that I can get back to a sense of 'normal'.

Regarding the whole 'Pokemon Wearing Pants' thing...
General | Posted 7 years agoSo.. At this point Zeraora, the mythical thundercat has been confirmed to be made available at some point, and people, as I probably should've fucking expected, have already coined the kitty as another 'pants-wearing' Pokemon.
...*deep breath* I'm going to make this as plain and clearly understandable as I possibly can:
I DO NOT, BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION, LIKE THAT PARTICULAR FUCKING BIT.
Why do I have a problem with it?? Because it's STUPID! Honest-to-god, why do people who're fans of Pokemon, and moreover, fans of Lucario and now Zeraora, associate their fluffy legs as being 'pants'?! It doesn't make any damned sense to me! It's just extra-thick fluff!
I don't care if this all started with the Slowking from Pokemon Movie 2000 when he said 'I could use pants.' or if it was just spouted by some random artist. As far as I'm concerned? Do NOT presume that I'm interested in this bit.
Closing this out, I would also like to state FOR THE RECORD: My Lucario 'sona, Auron, is 100% NOT one of those 'pants' Pokemon. And if anyone who RPs with me asks if I can portray Auron IN that fashion? ...Congratulations, you're officially dumb, and don't know how to read.
Sorry for the rant, but given the amount of topics on Discord servers I see, and people posting pics about it? It's driving me just a little bit nuts. Have a good day.

I just thought of my own Fakemon
General | Posted 8 years agoI'm sure a lot of people are aware that artists, pokemon romhackers and fan game creators know what I'm talking about, but for those that don't know: A Fakemon is a fan-made Pokemon that's not an official part of the Pokemon franchise.
Most just make these Fakemons because they're unsatisfied the designs they make aren't an actual Pokemon design. Heck I was disappointed there wasn't a proper wolf Pokemon line until Sun and Moon dropped along with Rockruff and both Lycanroc forms, as well as Dusk in Ultra Sun and Moon.
Anyways enough about that, lemme blather on about my own Fakemon ideas, based on the Dire Wolf! Yes the largest recorded wolves in our history. as such this 2-stage Fakemon line will reflect that.
Kumori - The Dire Pup Pokemon.
Type: Grass/Fire
Height: 2'01"
Weight: 57lbs
Base Stats: 50 HP, 50 Attack, 40 Defense, 60 Special Attack, 40 Special Defense, 60 Speed. 300 total.
Description: A feral wolf pup with spring green grass fur mixed with summer orange, tinting to bright hazing red on the tail and paws, emerald green eyes. notable feature is an ember crest on its forehead signifying its part-fire typing.
Dex Entry: "Raised and Trained from birth by their mother until they're strong enough to hunt, a Kumori will either form a pack with other Kumori pups, or join a pack already established, joining the hunt for prey such as Bunnelby or Buneary."
So yes, the theme is a speedy mixed attacker more specializing in special attacks. But moving on!
Koromaru - The Dire Wolf Pokemon
Evolves from Kumori starting at Level 30, and learns Forest's Curse.
Type: Grass/Fire
Height: 4'02
Weight: 176lbs
Base Stats: 80 HP, 90 Attack, 85 Defense, 110 Special Attack, 85 Special Defense, 110 Speed. 560 total.
Description: Very large feral wolf, ember crest transforms into yin-yang symbol with flaming red and grassy green. retains its emerald green eyes and most of its fur color. darkens to a soft crimson red on paws and tail.
Dex Entry: "As they age, their knowledge grows. These forest protectors harness the power of nature to protect weaker Pokemon. Able to stand up to even three Ursaring at once, even if it's alone."
Let me know what you think of it in the comments below, and share your Fakemon ideas. I love wolves quite a bit, and the idea of a fast, durable special/mixed attacker really struck out to me.
Plus the fact there's no official Grass/Fire Pokemon yet. Think about it. it's only weak to three types - Flying, Rock, and Poison. But since its already Grass type, it has Rock types covered, minus Rock/Flying mons like Aerodactyl or Archeops. but hey, can't be perfect.

December 16th I won't forget..
General | Posted 9 years agoYesterday, around 4 PM.. one of our neighbor's homes had a tragic house fire incident. fire department and emergency vehicles got there as fast as they could and doused the flames. The family, consisting of a married couple and their children, made it out alright. Unfortunately, I've learned today not everyone made it out..
Their family dog perished in the flame, and because of the damage, their home was boarded up in the window and their front door.. This is something that should never happen to a family.. Especially not at this time of year.
My friend
tavinforchune offered to have his grandma, who's a council member at their church in Florida, to pray for this family, the Amorsens (ay-mor-senz). I've already given them a solitary prayer myself last night.
I know it seems small in the grand scheme of the world, but it's a subtle reminder that not everything can go according to how you want things to be.. All we can hope for, is that things will improve in the future. no matter how small a light might be at the end of that long, dark tunnel.
Never Forget...

Top Ten Worst FFTA2 Abilities!
General | Posted 10 years agoEy look, it's a sequel! >.> No really it is. After making the Worst FFTA Abilities list I figured I might as well go over what the worst of its sequel had. There's gonna be a few considerable changes, because some abilities were changed for the better, while others have actually gotten notably worse.
Same thing as before: 1. MY opinion, not YOURS. 2. If anyone's played the game as much as I have, since I did a fairly recent 100% runthrough, my first 100% run btw, they might say something's worse. just keep in mind the first part and we're good.
With that out of the way? Welcome to the FurryShapeshifter's Top Ten Worst FFTA2: Grimoire of the Rift Abilities! And holy balls that game title is long, be glad I shortened it. On a side note, new to FFTA2 are the Seeq and Gria race, which have 4 classes each to their name, so some of their abilities will be on here. Anyways..
First of all! Some honorable mentions!
Steal: Gil, Mug, Pickpocket, and Wallet Shot/Aim: Wallet - Pickpocket comes from the Seeq's Viking job class but it's the same as all the others. and while the other 3 were crap in FFTA, here they can steal up to several THOUSAND gil at any given time.
Elementalshift - This ability was removed for a much better spell for the Viera's Elementalist class: Thunderous Roar, which is a nice lightning-elemental spell that can also cause silence. something which is the bane of any spellcaster.
Acid, Goblin Punch, Level ? Shadow Flare, Magic/Magick hammer, and Blowup/Self-Destruct - The first three abilities, once blue mage usable, are no longer blue magicks, as for the latter two, magick hammer's still the same old thing, and blowup's gotten a little better for self-sacrificial damage. You still need auto-raise/auto-life though.
Take Aim, Blitz, and Featherblow - While they're still low-damage moves, evasion's become quite the bitch in A2, and you need all the accuracy you can get, especially if the enemy's on critical HP.
Roundhouse, Wild Swing, Swallowtail, Furore and Sweeping Spin - Sweeping Spin from the Gria's Ravager class is still the same as the first three, but they're more usable as enemies tend to have more aggravating Reaction Abilities as the game goes on, Furore from the Seeq Berserker class is also the same, but it has the added effect of knockback, which is very nice.
Throw and Monkey Grip - I said in my last list neither of these were really that useful, but in FFTA2 they've gotten a bit of an upgrade. Throw is actually nice if you've got a stock of very sharp weapons, in my case I have 99 Kunai on me at all times =P And MG is actually decent to work with the Gria's Raptor Class, as they can equip shields and one of their abilities uses it.
All Control/Beast Lore Abilities - Once again I would've put one on here, but the Beastmaster got a huge buff in that you don't need to spend a turn trying to control the monster you want. just get yourself 2 squares away and you get a guaranteed monster skill off, much better for blue magick ability grinding.
Gauge/Sensor - I was very, VERY close to putting this on the list, in FFTA it sensed hidden equipment on your enemies, useful for stealing rare weapons you can't get until late game. In FFTA2 however, it was made quite shite, only sensing the target's LV1 loot items, and yes, loot's a part of this game just like FFXII, decent early on, but sucks egg in the late game.
and lastly, Judge and Judge Sword - Both abilities were removed entirely as the Judge Point system is no longer in place in this game, and Judgemaster Cid does not make a return appearance, as A2's story takes place many years after the events of FFTA.
That's all for the honorable mentions so let's dive into this freight train of shit.
And first in the #10 spot we have the White Mage's Raise/Life spell. Le Gasp! Am I speaking.. BLASPHEMY?! Yes and no. Yes I realize I'm putting the healer class's resurrection spell on here, no I am not because it was considerably nerfed in FFTA2..
Whereas in FFTA it revived your KO'd units at half health, here they're brought back in HP Critical, in other words? LOW HEALTH. And while I could put Re-raise/auto-life on here too, they only take effect after your units die. If you're gonna outright revive? Use Arise/Full Life, it'll save you a lot of headaches.. and make sure your White Mage has Halve MP, mana's a bitch in FFTA2 to get without certain Clan Privileges!
Where'd the Limelight go? Oh right it was stolen by the #9 entry, Steal: Limelight. New to FFTA2 is the Smash Gauge. Where as you do damage and kill enemies, it fills over time. Necessary if you want to summon Scions using their respective special item.
Here's the problem: Stealing has been nerfed quite a bit in this game, usually with a 50% chance if the enemy doesn't have any evade, but drops if they have even a few points. and since you're building your gauge up anyway? Why bother with this atrocity of a stealing command.
Bashing up into the #8 spot we have the Gria Raptor's Shield Bash. True to its name, this ability -requires- a shield in order to use. hence having Monkey Grip for support so you can use a 2-handed sword in addition to a shield. How it works is you strike the target with the shield and knock them back. It also says in its description it has a chance to disable the target.
Knockback and Disable but no damage? Boooooooo! I've never seen the disable proc either. And you know the fun part? one NPC Gria, Mayhew, loves to spam this for no reason whatsoever other than to make me facepalm and say "WHY." If you want to disable a target, use Arm Shot or Dagger toss, and as for Knockback? Rush is better for that shit.
Making a tossing return into the #7 spot we have the Moogle Juggler's Gil Toss. Now I said in my last list this ability was almost ENTIRELY useless, only 30 damage for dropping 30 gil. Thankfully it's been changed to be a bit better. un-thankfully it's not a very good change.. You choose between 10, 100, 1,000, and 10,000 gil to toss, doing more damage each increase.
Problem: Its accuracy has gotten quite shite, even Concentrate won't help it too far and still, do you really wanna blow 10K on an ability that might not even hit? I know I sure don't, hence why I never use it. I only learned it for my Moogle Knight/Juggler in order to Master the Juggler class.
Convincing itself back in for the #6 slot is the Hume Paladin's Parley and Bangaa Dragoon's Wyrmtamer abilities. Now immediately you'll notice Oust is not on here, and with good reason. Oust has gotten considerably better for getting rid of low-health enemies, ESPECIALLY undead ones.
Parley and Wyrmtamer on the other hand.. are still not worth it, they are very much shit, you're better off killing the enemy non-monsters and enemy drakes/dragons than trying to make them leave. they don't even drop loot if they do, they just nope out of there. Utter garbage save for Oust.
Whereas dodging regular attacks with Reflex is great for just about any situation, only one attack isn't deflected, but that's okay! #5's entry: the Reaction Ability Archer's Bane has it covered! . . .Too bad it ONLY blocks regular bow and greatbow attacks and not abilities! Yaaaay.. This ability was pretty damn epic in FFTA, but when TA2 came out it was nerfed to only block arrow attacks and nothing else.
What's that? First Reaction Ability? Why yes it is~ For those that remember my last list, you might know what's coming but you know what, let's save that for later, huh? Good? Alright good, but seriously, don't use Archer's Bane, there are far better R-Abilities out there. Speaking of which...
In the #4 spot we have the MP Shield/Damage > MP Reaction Ability - Hohohoh boy did THIS THING GET NERFED. Whereas in FFTA it was ungodly broken as long as you had even 1MP. Here? MP Shield not so useful and with a very good reason.
In FFTA2, MP Shield only blocks damage calculating for what MP you have, let's say you have 40, and the enemy attacks to deal 120 damage. now 40 of that is taken off by the shield, but where's that leave the 80? It's dealt out to your HP. Henceforth it has gone from ungodly broken to ungodly AWFUL.
How I wish this Support/Passive Ability wasn't a thing.. at #3 we have the Black Mage's Geomancy. I already gave my thoughts on it in my first list, but lemme state again for the record that this ability sucks egg, and I gave my reasons why but I'll do it again by god damn.
Geomancy lowers the elemental resistance targets have to certain magick elements, like if they're strong against ice, blizzard magic does more, if they're immune they take some damage, and if they absorb it, you'll do 0 damage. and if they're weak.. Well at that point there's no reason for it, still sucks dick and it won't get better.. Like, EVER.
Bypassing that fandango is the ENTIRETY of Ability sets that is the #2 set, the new Chocobo Knight class for the adorable Moogles, complete with handmade Chocobo hat. Why is this whole class garbage? Because until you mount a Chocobo you're stuck with no primary abilities, having to rely on secondary job sets.
And after you get on the Chocobo? You lose the ability to use any other abilities, all of the Moogle's efforts are focused on controlling his wild mount. It's ridiculous! If you wanna use a Chocobo Knight, make sure you pick a good one, like a red or a black chocobo. On a side note, yes there are Chocobos in the game that aren't part of the Animist's Chocobo Rush attack.
A lot of you probably saw this coming, some of you may have thought "He's not gonna make 'that' the same #1 twice in a row.." Welp to those thinking that? You are WROOOOONG! Because hey guess what! #1 is the last list's Worst Ability Ever! thaaat's riiiight, it's the Defender's Last/Critical: Berserk! And it's still as horrendous and terrible as ever.
For those that've forgotten, Last Berserk, or Critical: Berserk as it's known in this game, puts your bangaa into an enraged state with heightened attack power, but ALL they will do is attack and suicide themselves, not even caring to heal up, which is COMMON FREAKING SENSE! Who made this ability?! Who thought it was good enough to put in both games?! I'd like to slap the shit out of that guy! At least some enemies are stupid enough to have it, but COME ON!
This has been the FurryShapeshifter, and no matter what the name, Last/Critical: Berserk is still hands-down, the WORST. FFTA2 ABILITY. EVER.
Thanks for reading and have a good day.
Same thing as before: 1. MY opinion, not YOURS. 2. If anyone's played the game as much as I have, since I did a fairly recent 100% runthrough, my first 100% run btw, they might say something's worse. just keep in mind the first part and we're good.

Vore and Predators
General | Posted 10 years agoHey guys, if you haven't guessed from the journal title, I wanna talk to you about a topic that's become very iffy with me to touch-base upon as of late. and that's the subject of just what predators I feel are suited for vore, and what preds are not suited for it whatsoever.
A standard example: Foxes are the all-around common furry most people see. they're fluffy, cute, adorable, but they CAN be turned into quite the voracious preds. heck I consider Umbreon, my favorite Eeveelution, a fox, as do most people and find it perfect for omnoms because of its nature as a nocturnal predator.
Now I might be preaching to the choir when I say this but dammit this is MY opinion, not yours, and I WILL speak my peace on the matter once and for all!
To start things off, let me give you a general idea of what I might consider within my tolerance as far as creatures being predatory.
Avians: While in actuality I really fucking hate birds, if the pieces are set right I can tolerate a bird pred, heck it doesn't even have to be your average bird, could be a poke-avian or some shit, I don't know. But don't think it too likely.
Equines: Now most people think horse preds are amazing, me though? I don't really see it too much.. sure people have made predatory horse chars and that's cool, but I'm not really into it. doesn't mean I won't try if, again, the pieces are set right.
Unusual creatures: I can't say much on this because the only unusual creatures I know of stem from alien, and the fallout series, but I still can see them work, notably Deathclaws and Xenomorphs, of course.
Now those are just what I'm tolerant of. On the other hand.. HERE is what I'm completely, utterly intolerant of..
Most Demis: if they show majority of human parts, I do not care for them at all, sorry. why? here's why..
humans: ABSOLUTELY NOT. human preds are fucking disgusting to me. I'm sorry for those who actually have the gumption to LIKE it, I am not one of them. reasoning is simple: the devourment mod for Skyrim. fuck. that.
*sigh..* sorry for the rant, but had to get this off my chest. have a good day/night/whatever.
I'm out.

So I just took a "Which Undertale Character Are you?" Quiz..
General | Posted 10 years agoAnd I'm honestly surprised at the result. Out of EVERYONE in the cast, I got... Sans.
Yes, SANS. I don't know how I managed to, but I did. This is how it described me:
"In a word, complicated. You tend to be laid back and not care about much going on around you. You probably procrastinate a lot and people get mad at you for it. You're very intelligent, even if you don't see it at first. You're charismatic and can get people to like you easily. You also, more often than not, infuriate everyone around you. They're not quite sure why they keep spending time around you, maybe it's because of your outlook on life, or the fact that even though you're irritatingly sarcastic, you manage to come off as at least a little appealing."
Yeah, most of those things are me <w>' except for the not quite sure part. sometimes I feel that fits another iridescent friend of mine, who I'm tired of tracking all the accounts he makes, but he knows who he is. Because being honest, I don't know how I'm managing to stay friends with him..
So yeah, if you want to take the quiz yourself, here it is: http://www.quotev.com/quiz/7061569/.....racter-are-you
Oh and one last thing.. If anyone DOES manage to make me mad.. *cue that Sans smile and gaze* You're Gonna Have A Bad Time.
Have a good day now~

Top Ten Worst FFTA Abilities!
General | Posted 10 years agoHuh? I'm doing another Top Ten in a journal? Yeah I am <w< This actually got inspired to me today, I was thinking about how much I actually enjoy seeing Final Fantasy stuff. and I have a few games under my belt, specifically Final Fantasy IV DS, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and its sequel Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.
Still I bet you're confused asking "Huh? Why are you making this kind of list then and for one game?" And the answer is "If I did a 'Top Ten Worst Final Fantasy Abilities' list, I'd have to research a LOT of FF content, and I ain't got time for that so there. =P"
Now a few things before I delve into this list, it IS solely based on my opinion, so I don't wanna hear any complaints about "But what about _________ ability and __________ ability?!" No, I will immediately hide your comment if you post something like that >.>
Second, while there might be some abilities that could be worse than mine, and trust me there are, this is just what I feel are the worst of the bunch. Feel free to suggest your own worst abilities from the game if you've played it yourself! That being said? Let's get started, welcome to the FurryShapeshifter's Top 10 Worst FFTA Abilities! *and roll credits! nah j/k*
Coming in at #10 we have an immediate ability tie between the Hume soldier's Mug ability, and the Hume and Moogle Thief's Steal: Gil abilities! steal: gil basically does that: steals a few hundred gil from your target, while mug damages your enemy and steals about up to 30-40 gil. not that great, but pretty decent early game as you're strapped for cash, especially if you plan your party in advance as I did the last time I played the game.
Later on though you'll want to just ignore using it altogether since you'll be rolling in tens if not hundreds of thousands of gil at the later points of the game, so it's best used early on, oh and you can't even get mug till later anyway unless you steal a diamond sword with steal: weapon early enough, though good luck with that, mug's not worth it. =P
Rolling into #9 we have the Hume Ninja's Throw ability. Now let me ask any of you who've played FFTA: Have you ever consistently bought powerful items to chuck them at your foes for what might not even be 100 damage in the late game? I haven't, there's no reason to! Ninjas are considered among the best job class in the entire game, and with the godly reason of having access to the mighty Double Sword support ability, one of the best supportive skills a hume can have.
And while the Ninja's veil abilities are weak as piss, their secondary effects are quite nice, what with wood veil's immobilizing properties, or earth veil's slow addon, weak, but good for inflicting various statuses, don't throw your precious inventory unless you're curious what hurts the most and have money to burn.
At the #8 spot we have a three-way-tie between the Hume Fighter and Bangaa Gladiator's Wild Swing, the Bangaa White Monk's Whirlwind and the Viera Fencer's Swallowtail, all of which deal damage to adjacent units all around. Now let's be serious, having A.O.E. (Area Of Effect) damage is nice, but not in small snippets like this, and even if you're surrounded? You're better off using the fighter or gladiator's Rush to knock someone aside.
Heck if your fencer has some magic on her and has an elemental robe, try casting that element, like thunder, or ramuh if you're using a summoner. It'll be much better than doing miniscule amounts of damage.
Shooting its way to the #7 slot we have the Viera Sniper's Aim: Wallet ability. While some would argue this probably deserves to be slapped in the same spot as mug and steal: gil, I have my reasons for putting it this high. Snipers are a pretty deadly marksman-esque class for the bunny-people of Ivailice, having the potent Beso Toxico for dealing damage and inflicting poison, or even destroying an enemy's armor or weapon.
Aim: Wallet however is a later-game ability and it just does the same thing as Steal: Gil! So honestly it's not really that worth it in the long run, you're better off just attacking, or even using Doubleshot if you need to do something.
Spiriting into #6 we have the Viera Elementalist's.. Well.. Elementalshift. Now I bet some of you probably never saw this ability in your playthroughs, well the weapon you learn it from, the Epeprism, is a pretty rare rapier weapon, and second, it is entirely pointless.
Why? It essentially changes what elemental resistances your enemies have, like one that's weak to fire might now become weak to ice, or water, so on and so forth. Elementalshift is kinda useless though, if you're going to use potent elemental magic or attacks, use the enemy's weakness or whatever's strongest! Don't cop out with this gimmick-y spell.
Ohhh lordy lord the top five, and coming in at #5 is the Monkey Grip support ability for Humes and Bangaa. MG, MG, MG... Why must you be so irrelevant? Essentially this support skill allows you to wield 2-handed weapons, i.e. greatswords and broadswords, in 1 hand. The ONLY reason you'd do this, is to equip a shield on that character, and I almost considered putting the Shieldbearer ability on here in this spot and knock MG up.
I didn't. Why? Because while SB isn't great, it's a nice placeholder support, and with the flame, ice and lightning shields as well as aegis shield, you've got some coverage and elemental resistance and absorbency. Sure it's not as great as Double Sword or, heaven forbid, Concentrate, but really, it's better than freaking MONKEY GRIP.
Juggling.. Okay I'll stop with the job class puns >w> Anyway, at the #4 spot is the Moogle Juggler's Gil Toss. I'll be honest right here and now, this ability just sucks, and might be a contender for the number one spot, but as with my other picks I have my reasons for putting it this low. it CAN be useful if you're using an all-physical/melee party and have no magic users to deal with Flans, Toughskins or Blade Biters.
The downside is just that, it's -only- useful for those situations, that and burning 30 gil each time to do 30 damage. I've seen Gil Toss done better in other FF games, of note being the Gil Toss Materia in FFVII <.< to name an example, but here? It just suuuuuucks.
Into the top trio, the #3 spot goes to the Hume, Nu Mou, and Moogle Black Mage's Geomancy support skill. ohh Geomancy, why you so useless? What it basically does is take your opponent's ele-res, and alter their resistance to it, so if they're strong against it, they take slightly more damage. if they're immune they take little damage, and if they absorb it you just do zero damage.
Question: Why the hell would you want that? I'm ashamed of myself for putting Geomancy on Montblanc the first two times I played through FFTA, as Concentrate is an absolute godsend for him and his Black and Time Magic. Geomancy just isn't that good in any situation, I'm sorry.
Into the #2 Spot we again have a 3-way-tie. Between the Hume Hunter's Oust, and Hume Paladin's Parley, as well as the Bangaa Dragoon's Wyrmtamer. You might think at this moment, if you know the game as well as I do: "Hold up, these should be #1! Why aren't they!" 1. MY list, not YOURS. 2. I have another ability in mind that's far, far worse than these three put together.
Let's talk about Parley first. you have to put enemy non-monster combatants at critical HP, and then with this skill, you can convince them to leave the battlefield. It's so stupid. Oust. It's the same conditions, except it applies to monsters. And finally Wyrmtamer. Which is similar to Oust, but works ONLY on dragon monsters, hence the name. Above all that's really useless, but again, there's one ability that trumps all of these as the worst ever. but first, some honorable mentions!
All Control abilities from the Nu Mou's Beastmaster job class. I considered putting at least one of these on here, but realized controlling monsters is FUN~ (And necessary if you're trying to get a few certain abilities from certain monster types for your Blue Mage.. You know the ones if you've wanted all Blue Magic people.. Rassafrassa sprites and titanias..)
Level ? S-Flare, Blowup, Acid, Magic Hammer, Goblin Punch. To be fair some of the Blue Mage's abilities aren't that great and these are prime examples. Blowup's a self-sacrifice, so unless you've got auto-life you need a rez. magic hammer does MP damage but you're better off using Rasp or Soul Sphere. Goblin Punch is random but damned hilarious, and humiliating to die to. acid says it inflicts a random status but never shows it, I imagine it just reduces a stat..? idk, and Level ? S-Flare needs your mage matching the enemy's levels, AND having dark-absorbent equipment on the caster and matched-level allies.
Take Aim/Blitz/Featherblow. Low-damage, but high-accurate attacks. they're actually good for finishing off evasive monsters at critical health (Again. SPRITES AND TITANIAS, F#%$ING HATE THEM! ok I'm good.)
Judge and Judge Sword. You don't often see an enemy gaining JP (Judge Points) so having a Bishop use this, or Judgemaster Cid pulling this out isn't worth your time, but it's far from useless.
And finally Damage > MP (the > stands for 'Convert to' btw). I would say this is a bad reaction ability (NOTICE I HAVE NOT SPOKEN OF THESE YET.) but for a physical unit, and as you get 5 MP regenerated a turn, it's a good way to soak up a powerful hit. But if none of these are bad.. what's the ABSOLUTE WORST?
Well let me tell you here and now! #1 goes to the Reaction Ability for Bangaa Defender: LAST BERSERK! Holy fucking SHIT is this ability worthless! Let me explain to you, for those not in the know, what Berserk actually DOES. It puts you into an enraged state, your attack is boosted, but you have NO control over your unit and all he'll do is attack, attack, attack!
Now this sounds not so bad in practice right? Welp, combine that with a unit that goes berserk at CRITICAL HP! I'm talking 5-10% health left and it triggers. With no way of seeing the danger that unit's in, it will commit SUICIDE. That's right, your Bangaa will become so angry he won't feel the need to preserve his own life, and would rather kill everything in sight until he perishes!
This is especially bad if you're doing a battle in one of the Jagds, where you can NOT, by ANY means, leave anyone dead, or they are dead FOREVER, never to be seen again. I swear to god, it's NOT worth learning for your Defenders or ANY Bangaa! Stay away from this and slap on something else, like Reflex! or Counter! or Strikeback! ANYTHING but Last Berserk!
Whuff..! This has been the FurryShapeshifter. and Last Berserk is by far, the WORST ability ever in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance!
Thanks for reading, and have a good day!
Still I bet you're confused asking "Huh? Why are you making this kind of list then and for one game?" And the answer is "If I did a 'Top Ten Worst Final Fantasy Abilities' list, I'd have to research a LOT of FF content, and I ain't got time for that so there. =P"

Lucario and the reasons for all my affection
General | Posted 10 years agoMany people out there who get to know me might probably wonder: "There are hundreds of Pokemon you could have chosen, so why would you continue to fixate on this one in particular?"
I've often given thought to it, and now today, I've finally reasoned out why. Ladies and gentlemen? I give you my backstory and reasonings for all my love of Lucario and, by extension: Riolu.
The origin of my admiration stems from Lucario and the mystery of Mew, the movie being Lucario's official first appearance. When I saw the title, I immediately wondered "Who is Lucario?" and in the first twenty minutes, I would find myself awestruck with the presence of the jackal when he emerged from Sir Erin's staff.
As the story progressed, I found many questions stirring into my mind: "That's a Pokemon from long ago?" "Is that a legendary being?" "What was his life like before meeting Ash?" The queries just kept flowing and flowing.
Seeing the memory flowers, or whatever name they were called. Essentially the flowers that showed flashbacks of the past. Understanding more of the relation Lucario shared with Sir Erin I found myself... Transfixed. And then came the moment he first unleashed Aura Sphere. I swear my jaw dropped seeing how powerful it appeared to be.
By the end of my first time watching... I was in tears, sad at Lucario's departure. But at the same time, I was happy he would be reunited with his former master. My words explaining the passion of Lucario's story just don't do it justice. I highly recommend watching the movie yourself. But that aside... We come to the release of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
When I heard you could actually GET Lucario in the game, I was immediately hyped, yet still wondering if it was legendary or not. Unfortunately I would find out that Lucario was not as unique. But I was still ecstatic, seeing Riley's Lucario on Iron Island for the first time... It brought a warm glow to my heart.
And then there were the numerous appearances of the aura being in the anime after the movie. Each and every one wielding Aura Sphere in their attack lineup as it is essentially their Signature Move. This brings me into the one Diamond and Pearl episode where a Riolu could use it. and through Ash's connection to the aura, the pup was successfully rescued from Pokemon Hunter Jay. That particular aura pup is truly the most unique of them all.
Of course as generations went by and other Pokemon gained Aura Sphere, I could only sit and facepalm. "Why? WHY did they have to ruin what made him unique?!" Regardless... Lucario as a Pokemon, is based on the Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis. They're fierce. intelligent, and above all, loyal to the one they call master. Of course when mega evolution rolled out with gen vi, I knew Mega Lucario was going to be a thing. Was I disappointed? I was not~
Mega Lucario made the Ubers tier in Smogon because of having STAB, Adaptability Steel and Fighting power available in addition to enhanced stats, a true force to be reckoned with. ...And of course when I came into the furry community, my love for Lucario grew, and grew, until finally it sealed a permanent place in my heart standing to this very day.
That being said... If Pokemon were to exist and we'd each have one loyal companion. Expect no other, but the Aura Pokemon at my side. Master and Partner, equals as it should be.
And there you have it, everyone, all my reasoning, passion, and love wanting for nothing but the Aura Pokemon. *sigh...~* All that was mostly copy/pasted from a chat I was having with my good buddy DJ, aka
SeeqProtectionSquad As he actually asked me to be honest about why I love the jackal so much.
I hope you all understand and appreciate my affections. ...However: If I see so much as any one single comment intent on bashing Lucario, or my reasoning for my love of it whatsoever? Not only is your opinion unwelcome, but it WILL be swept under the rug. Translation? Negative comments WILL be hidden.
Other than that? Have a good day. And may your Aura remain strong!

A Star Trek Legend has Passed
General | Posted 11 years agoLadies and gentlemen, I don't know how many of you are trek fans, but if you are in any way, shape, or form, familiar with the cast of the original series. this news may well break your hearts..
Leonard Nimoy, better known to the trek community as Spock.. has passed.
A great man, actor, and inspiration has departed this world, and it saddens my heart to see that such a figurehead has left us.
Details are all in this post: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/27/arts/television/leonard-nimoy-spock-of-star-trek-dies-at-83.html?smid=tw-bna&_r=0
I would've hoped he had passed away peacefully, but alas, that was not meant to be.
To you, O glorious figure of the Vulcan people, I say unto thee: "Live Long, and Prosper" With all my heart, I hope you found peace in your final days.

Top Ten Most Annoying Moves in Pokemon
General | Posted 11 years agoWhat's that? I'm doing a top ten list in a journal? Wouldn't this best be saved for something on YouTube? well yes and no. Yes in the sense it'd be a perfect list for YT but sadly, I can't really be arsed to find a way to make that video, and no, there isn't really any good agreed-upon list besides one that I saw that was a guy's personal opinion.
First and foremost, I want to make a few honorable mentions that don't make the list, but I think many will agree are really, REALLY annoying.
Protect and Detect: I'm sorry but when has anyone EVER faced a trainer that had protect on their Pokemon and not groaned, cringed, growled or face palmed? Seriously, one protect? annoying. two protects? more annoying. Three or more? OK now you're just pushing it. Seriously, only the moves Feint, Phantom Force, and Giratina's Shadow Force can safely bypass this annoying defensive measure without wasting power points.
Endure: Much like protect and detect, endure is just another one of those moves that, when you see it, you -hate- whatever just used it because it's basically a guaranteed focus band, leaving them barely alive with 1 HP. I cannot stress how much that irks me. and I've faced a focus sash SHEDINJA. ..Let that sink in for a bit, you'll see why I hate it.
Bind, Wrap, Fire Spin and Clamp: In the current Pokemon meta these moves are utter garbage, same with Whirlpool, but back in the old days of gen 1? they were MONSTROUSLY BROKEN. seriously, 'wrap hax' as its been so fittingly coined, makes you completely immobile, and you can only break it if you KO the pokemon using it, or by swapping out. so stupid, really..
Leech Seed: It's fun if you have this and you suck your opponent's health away, but what happens when you receive it? and what if you can't get away? you're stuck sitting there getting sapped. nobody likes leeches. NOBODY.
and last mention goes to Bide: Those that have seen like the 50th Patrat in black and white use this move, might know what I mean but those that don't? bide deals double the total damage endured back to you, so say you deal 80 damage to a level 50 watchog, you're taking 160 back and possibly getting KO'd because of it. 'nuff said.
So that's all for honorable mentions, but one last thing, this list is also slightly opinionated, at least one or two more moves are on this list because I've had bad, BAD experiences with them, so bear in mind, and be open-minded.
With that I bring you to number 10: Confuse Ray. For those that know their Pokemon, you know damn well why this move starts out here. Confuse Ray does just that - confuses your pokemon and makes it 50/50 that it'll hit your foe, or itself. more often than not though the RNG gods frown on you and make you suffer. not to mention almost every ghost type can learn it, among a few others like Umbreon, which makes for some nasty competitive play.
At the number 9 spot: Double-Edge. Backstory time, and it's very recent. I was playing Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness earlier this week and last, and I was grinding my team at Realgam Tower's Coliseum or Colosseum, whatever the correct term is for it, I don't care. but I entered the third round and I faced a super trainer that had rest on all her Pokemon. One in particular stood out and is the reason behind my dislike/hatred for how annoying she made this move: Stantler.
Now Stantler's nothing special right? haha WRONG. this thing one-shot my Shiftry with a CRIT. DOUBLE-EDGE. I was annoyed! so I revived my shiftry, brought it back in, and at this point it used rest and was asleep... Aaaand then it used Sleep Talk, got Double-Edge and KO'd my Shiftry AGAIN. At this point I was gritting my teeth in seething anger, so I revived my shiftry once more, and healed it with a super potion.
My thought was after sending shiftry back in, my Vaporeon would KO the stantler with ice beam. during this time a Quagsire had been spamming Mud Shot. so I knock that out, expecting the stantler to fall next. but NOPE! the mud shots made my vappy slow enough it got off yet ANOTHER double-edge, promptly critting and KOing my Shiftry for the third time that match. ...Needless to say I shut my Wii off in anger after that. the next day? I bodied her faster than you can say "Oh shit the Nomcario's pissed!" *sigh* anyways moving on.
In the number 8 slot we have: Sucker Punch. I don't need to go too in-depth as to why this move's annoying. It's got priority, if you use an attack and this move's being used by the foe, they get in some seriously fuckin' cheap damage. It's made worse if it's a Pokemon with high attack like Absol, and moreso if said Absol has the ability Super Luck.
I know for a fact that Sucker Punch can be a serious problem in Nuzlocke runs, ESPECIALLY if you don't want something to faint, but there's a way to avoid it if you know your opponent's running it: just don't attack, use a defensive or support move like stun spore or something, and you're good.
At lucky, or unlucky given the nature of this list, but at number 7: Substitute. Now I know a lot of you might be thinking "Huh? that's not so bad." Uh news flash, it IS. especially in competitive battling. a poison heal breloom with a certain move, substitute, focus punch and leech seed is really irritating.
What basically happens is you use 25% of your max HP to make a substitute doll to take hits. so say you have.. I dunno, 180 HP, you'd use 45 to make the sub, and when that HP runs out, it breaks. But the sub also takes defense boosts into account so if you don't hit hard enough you won't break it, and expert competitive battlers know how to use the sub right so.. Yeah there's that.
At number 6 on this list: Spore. Once the signature move of Paras and Parasect, it has since spread to Shroomish's line, as well as the Foongus line, and of course Smeargle can have it via Sketch. Spore is the only 100% guaranteed sleep-inducing move, and the final move in the aforementioned Breloom moveset in the Substitute affair.
Spore. Is. Monstrously overpowered, guaranteed sleep? good lord that's a recipe for disaster unless you've got a lum or chesto berry... Thankfully it's only on so few pokemon otherwise it'd be more problematic.
In the number 5 spot we have a tie of: Self Destruct and Explosion. Yeah we're getting into the really aggravating shit now. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who has played Pokemon knows how frustratingly annoying and rage-inducing it is to see one of these moves pop up in the screen.. My heartfelt sorrows go out to any and all Nuzlockers that have, at one point or another, lost a Pokemon to this accursed pair of suicide-tactic moves.
Most notably dangerous in any generation preceding gen 5 because of a small, unwritten but still well-known detail: in gens 1-4 SD and Explosion halve your current defense before calculating damage. and with them having base 200 and 250 power respectively? the ONLY things living them are rock or steel types, and ghosts avoiding them altogether.
This brings me to another bullshit moment in Gale of Darkness, Cooltrainer Gabsen in zone 58 in area 6 of Mt. Battle. She had a Forretress... and it used, you guessed it, Eeeexplosion. KO'd my shiftry AND my Vaporeon. >_< Hate it so much.. thankfully the defense bit was removed in gen 5 and 6, thank the lord for that.
At number 4 on this list we've got the ever cumbersome and dreaded: Perish Song. You can already guess why this is annoying, not for what it does itself, but what conditions there might be WHEN it's used. Perish Song plays a death-inducing melody that makes all Pokemon on the field faint three turns after it's used. It's the most devastating if you're trapped by mean look or a wrap-esque move. OR if there's a certain Pokemon that'll be mentioned at the top of the list out on the field with its ability, or a dugtrio with arena trap.
If you can't KO whatever's keeping you on the field when that perish count hits 1? you're screwed, there's no way you'll be able to switch out in time. and you have to watch as your massive HP-wielding Pokemon just drops, like that. *finger snap* I remember seeing a Misdreavus use it in Pokemon Chronicles in the battle against Atilla and Hun of Team Rocket while they were trying to capture Raikou. That looks soooo painful..
In the number 3 spot: All recovery moves excluding Rest. We've all been in this situation at some point or another, you're in a competitive battle and you're about to KO that last Pokemon, let's say a pretty irritating flying type.. Wheeen suddenly it uses ROOST. Now take that, and picture that happening with any recovery move ever. THAT'S how annoying these moves can be.
"Why isn't Rest part of this entry though?" I hear you asking a mile away. I'll tell you: Rest is only annoying if your foe's got a chesto or lum berry, otherwise they're asleep for 2 turns, and unless it's a Snorlax (I'm looking at YOUR devil there, Pokemon Trainer Red from G/S/C/HG/SS!) you can probably two-turn KO it before it can get a rest off again.
At Number 2, we come up to: Double Team. And I can hear you screaming right now. "WHY ISN'T THIS MOVE NUMBER ONE?!?" Because this is my opinion and that when I explain #1 it'll make more sense but back to double team. Anyone who knows their Pokemon and moves understand exactly why this move's as high as it is. Double Team raises evasiveness/evasion. Doesn't sound too bad at first, right? Haha, WRONG.
Even just one double team can ruin your day, giving you that chance to miss is the worst insult ever in Pokemon, and if that Pokemon gets 3-4 of them up? You're not hitting it whatsoever, trust me. unless you're extremely lucky, or have guaranteed hitting moves like swift or aerial ace. But there are alternative options, and I'll be going over them, there's at least two viable ones.
First you could use Foresight or Odor Sleuth. You might question why, thinking them only useful to make ghosts vulnerable to normal and fighting moves. But here's something I bet you didn't know: both of these moves, when they connect, NEGATE the evasion boosts. How does that work? Well Foresight identifies what ghost types are right? It seeks out the real image of whatever the Pokemon that used double team is. odor sleuth's the same, except its identified by smell. This knowledge brought to you by Earl's Pokemon Academy in Pokemon Stadium 2, a really great game, and a fine sequel to the original Stadium. *sigh..* I wish they'd made a Stadium 3 though that would have been so awesome. but no, we got Battle Revolution instead.. oh well.
The other strategy you could employ is to use Haze to reset all stat changes back to normal, which is actually worked into a battle scenario in the aforementioned academy in a battle test against what I and many others coin as a 'double team noob'. the haze will force evasion back to normal, dispersing the double team clones and all, very effective.
On a side note, I'd like to mention that Minimize fits into this slot as well, it's essentially the same as double team, but how you deal with countering it remains much the same except you have two more options. You can try using Stomp, which deals double damage against minimized Pokemon, how fitting. Alternatively you can use the move Steamroller which only the Venipede family and Golem can learn, and it too does double damage. and in gen vi, it was changed so it never misses a shrunken target.
It's time for Number 1, this was a thrill to write and get some Pokemon move stress off, I know most expected double team/minimize to be this because of how outright annoying and common it is but when you see my reasoning for the following three-way-tie for moves, you'll understand why I just had to place these moves above all else, so with that said... The 3-way number 1 slot goes to: Counter, Mirror Coat and Destiny Bond! And I shall delve into each for the reasons.
Let's start with Counter. This move's been around since generation one. it's a fighting type move, meaning it has no effect on ghosts. Now it doesn't get STAB or SE or NVE (super-effective/not very effective) checks either. Essentially it does what it says - and counters PHYSICAL attacks. meaning if the move makes contact and is listed physical as gen iv had the physical/special split, but prior gens it was eeveelutions, and dragon as special, the rest physical.
Say you're facing a Swampert with a Sceptile, and you go for Leaf Blade. it has a sash, which makes you tut. "oh well, next turn he's gone." then what should appear but 'The foe's Swampert used Counter!' you internally SCREAM as you see all that damage you cause get whopped back at you, with DOUBLE what you inflicted, and your Sceptile's one-shot. ...Truly one of the most annoying things.
Mirror Coat's next, and it's the same principle, except this time it counters special attacks. so same scenario, let's say you rematched that swampert user, and use Energy Ball. it lives with sash, but you're confident. then once again. 'The foe's Swampert used Mirror Coat!' and you scream aloud along the lines of "ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME?!' as you get one-shot yet again.
So yes.. Both of these moves are just devastating, but not uncommon for strategy except for ONE POKEMON LINE. You all know this was coming if you know gen 2 well. it was tournament-banned for the sheer amount of prediction involved. Ladies and Gentlemen? Wynaut and Wobbuffet. the practical COINERS of the counter/mirror coat meta.
These two never gain any attack moves, counter and mirror coat, are the only things they have to attack with, and it's always a guessing game, oh and the best part? Shadow Tag for their Ability. prevents you from switching, save for ghosts in gen vi as they're now unaffected, thankfully.
But then when it's low enough you're cheering yourself mentally, but then..? A Quick Claw activation! and then you see 'The foe's Wobbuffet used Destiny Bond!' and at this point your smile's gone, replaced with pure rage and hatred, nearly ripping your hair out as the message 'The foe's Wobbuffet is trying to take (Pokemon) down with it!' and you KO it.. then your mon's HP drains to zero and just drops.
I've seen only Misdreavus use D-Bond in the anime, and it was pretty brutal.. ugh, and there's been a few times where I've KO'd a d-bond using mon.. *glares at the wild Haunter of Kalos' Victory Road* Fucking my god...
Anyways you guys! Lemme know what you think and feel free to list a move that YOU think is annoying in your opinion in the comments below, but with that? This has been the Furry Shapeshifter. Have a good day.
