Looking for artists open for commissions!
Posted 15 years agoI am looking for someone to do a two character sketch of Taffy and another character as a gift commission.
Are there any artists who can do a toony style and would like to take this on? Let me know!

Anyone need large poster commissions of their artwork?
Posted 15 years agoTwo friends of mine are making a furry printing company...they are just starting out. The prints they make are awesome and there are a few hanging in the house.
Check them out...and +watch them...they are having a contest for a free poster print of art of your choice (as long as you have permission to make it into poster size, of course) so check out their latest journal for the details. :)

Posted 15 years agoNeed an artist for a children's story
Posted 15 years agoI am looking for an artist who can do maybe 5-6 pieces of artwork (does not have to be full huge commissions- just simple art) for a kids story I wrote based on my character Taffy. I am currently working on a book series staring her dealing with issues that children often face (fitting in, bullying, ect).
If anyone has any plot ideas, let me know too!
I am going to be publishing them on Lulu.com. The first story is already written- I just need artwork to go with it and some editing.
You will get a percent of each book sold and I do plan on taking them to cons...because this character is based off of a fursona and...hey, children's books are fun! :)
If anyone is interested comment or send me a note. <3 We can work something out as far as a lump sum for the artwork plus additional from each book sold.
Thanks!

Visual Aspect (does it match the concept art? Is it consistent with other items the maker has produced? Is it visually pleasing overall?):
5+ -
I sent two pieces of concept art to Media/TCF. One piece was done by RaccoonDrew and another by MaryMouse. Both of them were two different colors and had a different sort of style. Jeff called me to ask my opinions on what I would prefer with her design because I sent him two pieces of art that had some very large differences (the more toony look- a brighter pink vs. lavender - how the feet should be designed).
I told him that I did prefer the brighter pink and also added to "just have fun". He went above and beyond to find the pink that fit what I was looking for, it took some time, but it was worth the wait. I wanted her pink- so he did not stop until he found the perfect fur. I trusted his judgment to make her look good. I was incredibly impressed and at times wondered if he was reading my mind with what I wanted. He went above and beyond in the details of her- he ran every step by me before continuing. He added a few little things to make her stand out more with her features- including the purple around her eyes, which really brought them out more.
He even added a "tooth", much like the "tooth" that triceratops have. Her tongue being purple was also a very nice touch, he was not sure what color a dino tounge would be, but felt purple would be the closest guess (like a giraffe) It's cute.
Service Aspect (Deadlines. Communication. Little extras.):
5+
Not only did he run everything by me - He got online and looked up images of triceratops feet and facial structure and added pieces from the actual living animal to my suit - to create a hybrid between realistic and toony with her features. Which was an amazing service touch I did not expect. He wanted to really hit the mark on a specific look with her and did an incredible job.
He was easy to connect with, especially once he started work on her. He would often call to give me updates and send me photos.
The under body suit is the most amazing part about her, despite it not being seen. He has not done anything like this with any of his other suits, at first I was not sure if he could handle it as I had not seen him do this much padding before...but he did research and took time, ran things past me and got my input on past "large suits" I have worn before. He designed and created an entire set up under her to give her an awesome shape and almost a character in itself. Now, with all the padding she is a bit hard to get into, but it is the nature of the beast...and once she IS on, she is worth every minute in making sure she is together.
He added some straps to the feet making them easier to pull up. He also added zippers to the fat padding so I can pull out the polyfill to make it easier to wash. A definite plus and not one I would have thought of!
Workmanship Aspect (Is the sewing neat? Are things that should be sewn glued or vise versa? Does it fit? Has anything fallen off yet that shouldn’t have):
5+
He invented a technique to hide seams- and she looks almost seamless in many places. Her hearts are embroidered which look amazing up close and far away.
A few of her hooks have come off,, but ihooks are annoying by design and easy to have come off with as much strain as I am putting on them with my performance. I really like how there are a few larger hooks connecting the leg fabric to her feet- it makes it easier to clip. The ones that have come off are smaller and it is an easy fix.
I have taken her to conventions, worn her for long periods of time, been outside with her, and had no construction difficulties.
She fits me like a glove...and has little give with anyone taller then me, but that's ok because it is easier to tell people no when they ask if they can wear her. ;)
She looks as good, if not better, then many professional mascot costumes produced by high frequency builders have created. I have worn the actual Land Before Time costumes and the padding in Taffy and her design is much easier to move in. She is not a large "foam egg" that the television character's are designed with to maintain his shape.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:
I am incredibly thankful to have commissioned Jeff. He is not only incredibly talented, he is passionate. He goes above and beyond to deliver what his clients want to have and see in their costumes. He is easy to talk to on a personal and professional level and down to earth. He takes great pride in what he does and does not stop until everything is to his liking as well as his customers. I never felt like I could not tell him what I wanted, which is important because of all the money and time both parties were investing. I also never felt like he didn't want to give me what I wanted- he made me feel important and that making my suit exactly what I wanted was his top priority.
Marymouse went back and changed the concept art to fit the suit...and looking at the original art verses how the suit came out, I prefer how she actually looks over the artwork. Jeff put his imagination into her and made her something very unique and special.

Cub porn ban
Posted 15 years agoI gotta say it because so much is being said.
Kids are KIDS. They are not meant to be put in sexual situations, ever. The act in the real world puts people in jail and on sex offender lists. Even alluding to the ideas of kids being in these acts in art , is almost like saying these acts are "ok".
Get on your soapbox on expression...this is not about EXPRESSION this is about banning something that is illegal in reality...and this site does not want to associate with it.
Seriously- if all of the weirdos left the fandom, the people who are into stuff like cub sex and announcing their shady/illegal fetishes to the planet through artwork and media- then maybe I would not be so freaking afraid to tell people I am involved with the fandom. It's art/media that created this negative view on the fandom...so if we put our foot down as a hole and say "we won't stand for this" MAYBE we will earn some respect?
Or am I reaching here?
Unwwatch me if you want...I would rather have friends on here who agree with me on this then not.
So cheers to FA on this one.

My friend's question about furries...opinons?
Posted 15 years agoGot this email the other day from my best gal pal, who is a total nerd....need some opinions on what you all think. :P
Okay. So like, in the Star Wars universe, there are races that are humanoid but very animal-ish. Like cat-like and stuff.
If a human were to either attempt to assimilate into their culture or want to mimic their look or sex 'em up, would that be considered a furry, or would it not because those are already existing humanoids and not fantasy creatures? (well, they are fantasy creatures but for the sake of argument just pretend it's real) Since they are already bipedal humanoids, would non-sexual furries find that an acceptable physical relationship?
Is it only furry if you anthropomorphize a non-humanoid animal, or if there are bipedal humanoids that are already animalish, is it still furry to want to imitate them, etc?
THOUGHTS??? :P My friends are nerds! <3

Need room space at MFF??
Posted 15 years agoGoing to be booking a room from Friday-Monday. I have two bed spots open.
I will be arriving Saturday but can put someone else's name on the room as well so you can check in on Friday.
If I can get at least one more person to commit, I will get it booked.
I ask that you be non smoking. This will be a nonparty room- just a place to crash and store your stuff.
We will split the cost by the number of the people in the room and the nights you stay. <3
I will have a fursuit with me- Taffy. The other person in the room is a guy and does not have a suit, but is also a performer.
Just let me know!

TAFFY!! :)
Posted 15 years ago
Media posted some great pictures of Taffy, my newest character. :) She turned out exactly how I wanted her. I can not wait to put her on and romp around. The fat padding will be a blast to perform with and with her adorable expression she makes an awesome toony persona. For the record...NOT BARNEY.
Think Land Before Time meets Care Bears. She was based off of Cera from LBT and her hearts and pink color were added to give her a toony adorable look.
raccoondrew helped create her back in late December 2009 with his original concept work after I got kiiiinda tipsy on Sake and told him I wanted a toony dinosaur character based off my favorite childhood movie.
marymouse fine tuned the concept of the character with a fursuit friendly version. The suit is a cross between the two with some imaginative touches from
media:)
I can not wait to perform in her. She is going to be a blast.
FurFright!!!
Posted 15 years agoI kept forgetting to post this...
I will be attending FurFright this year!! :) Is anyone looking for a room share? I am staying at the Super 8 across the street. If there are three of us in the room we would each pay what equates to one night.
At this time I have
RemyWolf potentially in the room depending on her ride situation. So my slots range from just one other person to two with bed space.
I will be debuting my suit from
Media at this con!! :)

Good times!
Posted 15 years agoBeen an AWESOME couple of weeks here in Columbus. :)
Got to AC for the first time...amazing. Got to hang out with some cool bros and byotches. :P
Handled some suiters at the monthly Gallery Hop. It was awesome seeing
and
, both of which were picked up by some drunk chick driving a passenger bike.
The Fourth of July party here- was drunken and epic. SOOO many amazing people. I got to go swimming at 2 am...and I drank some sort of dangerous mix of Bailey's, Kahlua, milk, blended with ice. Yeeaaah.
Wore
's suit around in a corvette- while driven through the ghetto with the top down. Went through a Mc Donald's drive through. Got some looks...and some milk. :P
is the best room mate/landlord ever for putting up with all the furry craziness. :P Though, I think he had fun too.
Thank you to all of those who helped out, stopped by, and just were amazing friends.
I am finally learning how to play magic with the help of
. I am turning into a nerd.
This month of crazy will only continue with a few more things coming up...
was sent the final payment for my suit. :) I still feel really great about it, I have never thought I would do something like this- commission a suit and put that money down for one- as I am weird about spending money on myself...but I work three jobs and really want to get a character that I can really perform in. It is like I am patting myself on my back for getting as far as I have the past few months...in working out...moving out...getting on my OWN feet financially...working my ass off with multiple jobs. Yay for life improvement. So yeah, really excited.

Yay for life improvement. So yeah, really excited. Dear watchers: Why are you furry?
Posted 15 years agoI was asked this today..."I hope I'm not being rude but Can I ask you if humans want to explore animal life, well is they're Furries that only join cause they're sick of being human?"
He considers himself an animal. This makes him happy to consider himself an actual creature...
I explained to him that I am not in furry to "be an animal"- I am in furry because I enjoy dressing up as one...well, I'll dress up as almost anything actually. I wore a costume that was a blackberry for an electronics convention. :P
I am a performer. I was brought and attracted into the fandom originally because a lot of my former performers in the pro world were also involved with the fandom. I wanted to figure out what motivated them and why furry was such a draw for them. When I got into the fandom in 2007, I realized why, you can perform and you can really have fun creating and being your own characters.
From there, I met the people. Some of my closest friends and people I live with are furry. I would not trade these people for the world. They keep me in the fandom.
I have trouble relating to those who really think they are a dog in a person's body...I can understand the release behind pretending to be someone/something else...but actually thinking you are a dog, finding comfort in that, and going into a subculture that accepts that- is something I just have issues wrapping me "all to human" mind around. Whatever floats their boat, is great...but it just isn't my cup of tea. If you are into that- awesome....I will just never be able to understand it because that isn't where my mind is when it comes to thinking about why I am furry.
So I gotta ask all of my watchers...what brought you into the fandom and why are you here?

Positive vibe Meme- only say nice things!
Posted 15 years agoI read this on
journal and want to follow suit...
"So here is something different. I want you to think of 5 people that you would like to say something nice to. A drifting friend you might not talk to anymore or someone you want to know better, and say at least one (GENUINE) positive thing about them. We don't need to love each other or anything, but nothing wrong with saying something nice.
DO NOT sully my kind hearted idea with passive aggressive BS. As I said before, if you can't say nothing nice, don't say nothin'. Though I also wouldn't kiss butt. Just be nice, and that is enough.
Here is an example. I would be hard pressed to name anyone I even dislike. Quite the opposite here, if you see your name, I want you to know that I would love to get to know you better, and I have good things to say about you. I think anyone who dose this should follow suit. " (Well stated,
media)
All to often we get sucked into the negativity, Being a person whom has been judged by what others have said and slandered, it is really hard to love anyone...yet, there is so much anger in the world, just being angry at everyone- is like wasting my life. Why live my life in that negative pit.
SO I am going to put a twist on
meme...I am going to pick people whom not only do I not know well, but I know I have had some issues with in the past. PLUS a few people whom I love anyway. :)
Let's do away with the negativity and drama.
If you see your name in these five, it means I want to know you better or you have really impacted me in some positive ways. It's also one of those things that helps with healing from situations I do not understand.
westiebetch Girl you are an amazing friend. Your pipes rock and your talent is amazing.
triggerfox You are not a douchebag. :P I just like giving you crap for it because I know you can handle it. You are a really great guy and I love how blunt you are...your suit is pretty awesome too.
arito Your suits are awesome and you are hysterical to talk to. I love that you are so chill. :)
PawsProductions You are real chill, and I love that. Your suits are pretty bad ass and you have really been working on making them better and better and it shows.
luckyevildog I may never know what happened, what made you not want to come back to the friendship, or what is going through your head- but you are one hell of a performer and I really cherished the friendship we did at one time have. Thank you for the memories and impacting my life in the ways you did.
PS-
media You are passionate and I love that...you also started this meme and I like that too. :) You are a blast to see perform and you obviously love what you do, keep living this way and it will keep changing those around you. :)

journal and want to follow suit..."So here is something different. I want you to think of 5 people that you would like to say something nice to. A drifting friend you might not talk to anymore or someone you want to know better, and say at least one (GENUINE) positive thing about them. We don't need to love each other or anything, but nothing wrong with saying something nice.

Anthrocon Post Con Report :)
Posted 15 years agoAnthroAwesome
The "smartest" thing to do the day after you are released from the ER for ulcers is go to a furry convention. My diet for the weekend contained a lot of apple sauce, water, and jello...and little too no alcohol, minus a few sips here and there. Yet, the incredible memories and amazing friends made it worth it.
First off: Yes, my reg badge DID say "TokenVJay". The looks of people reading that was priceless.
It was my first con 100% single. Every con prior to this I was still going through everything with the separation/dissolution. It really puts things in perspective to go to a con and only have to worry about repercussions with your actions for YOU and not have to think about "if so and so would be mad if I did this". I went and simply had fun and did my own thing.
I had an awesome conversation with a friend about "coming into your own", not in regards to me but in regards to him and his relationship. Finding things you can only find on your own, realizing who you are, bringing out who you really are and being loved for it. I experienced that for the first time at this convention.
This con also showed me the amazing friends I have around me on a daily basis. The moment word got out I was there, I had texts, phone calls, and random surprise tackles in headless lounges/halls inviting me to room parties, lunch, dinner, breakfast. I was hugged more times then I can count and I was only in suit once.
The power and support of friends from this past weekend moved me beyond words. No matter the bumps the love of a friend can really show the light at the end of every tunnel.
Thank you to all of you. I am so incredibly blessed and humbled by all of your support and love. We all may be "crazy creepy furries" but the friends keep me in this fandom, and always will.
I had a really interesting dinner on Sat night with the people who conduct the furry survey for a community collage. GREAT conversation about scientific LEGIT research behind subcultures, suiting, and the fandom. I was very blessed to be invited to dinner (well, the normal friend who went with them last year and was invited this year, took me as his "date") So the six of us (me another fur, and the research team) had a very interesting chat about a lot of things. Not just furry, they asked about my research with marine mammals and they asked a lot of questions about performance and my internship work with various facilities. It is good to know there is actual research being conducted on such a unique subculture. Plus, they are all really fun to talk to over wine. :)
I do want to take a few sentences to pat myself on my back. I got a lot of comments about my weight. As one of my good friends put it "You used to have, Dat Ass...I respect a women with curves, but you look so much better now with your features a bit better proportioned to YOU." :P There was a compliment in there somewhere. ;) I could tell though, I got a few double looks from people I have not seen in awhile. It felt good to know that my hard work, that is ongoing, is getting noticed. :)
Awesome con memory:
put me in his new pregosauras triceratops suit - Kona. I had not been in costume all con, so this was a real treat and was great! Awesome to perform in, that is for sure, and made me even more pumped for Taffy. I really needed some fun suit time. My mascot clients are awesome, yet the main suit I perform in for my main client is spandex...so the change up was fun. Got to do some fun things with that huge ass belly. :) Check out my photos in my FA thanks

FCN! Photos? Videos?
Posted 15 years agoAll I really can say is that I have a lot of thanks to give to all the people who made me come up on a whim on Saturday to Novi and also made it such an awesome whirlwind of a last second trip.
Without going into the massively long list of names...just thank you to everyone I saw, some for the first time. I had a huge pleasure of meeting awesome people like panth, kutekittykat, panzier and putting a 12 year old face to snickershusky...and a face to the awesome accent of tiger_sammy
Thank you to those who filmed me getting a cupcake slammed in my face...and then my head...and also filmed me in TardFin. Buca de Bepo was amazing. Videos will all come out soon! More thanks to the crew of gay boys who basically attacked me, picked me up, carried me, hugged me, nuzzled me and made me feel so incredibly loved and welcomed the moment I entered the lobby...and also gave me fursuit gang bangs on the dance floor for shits n giggles.
Special thanks to furball2k and evan_li for letting Raccoon Drew and I crash in your room. :) Also- thanks for being an awesome car ride buddy, Raccoon Drew! :-D
BUT- I also want to apologize to everyone who encountered Tardfin. Especially the people who Tardfin woke up when chasing light beams on the wall...and licking hotel room doors (people such as the con chair) and the furs that she ran after to try to pet (or molest- in the case of snickershusky...she just loves to play with animals. :P
Yes, she was a ninja turtle...only she is retarded and was a ninja TARDle. She wore a donut box on her back for her shell, pillow cases around her flippers and a paper mask. She was sexy.
Oh and a huge apology goes out to the Japanese family I ran into on the elevator...where I turned to them and asked them not to eat me.
I think this weekend, if anything lead to some really enlightening conversations with some friends. Many of my buds made a comment about how relaxed I had been at the con...mightytauren even told me "You are different...you seem much more relaxed and less stressed and uptight." I smiled constantly, I really just had a good time, went with the flow...no restrictions, no concerns, I just had a ball. It's the first time I ever heard multiple people tell me "holy cow, you are really changing." (and mean it in a good way)
I can easily say I am at a very good place now with everything and I left Novi really glad I went.
If any of you saw my character and got photos/videos...I would very much like to have links/copies. :)
Thank you for helping Tardfin have so much fun. She is very special and I am so glad so many people are so accepting of her "specialness".
Thanks!
