So I'm saving up for a new suit now, got a good amount of money with birthday/christmas just passing :) Do you guys have any favorite makers? This semester's been hectic, with lots of ups and downs. Family problems reaching boiling points and many MANY huge animation related projects that ate hours of my time. I'm talking 20 hours per project sorts of time…

I'm so sorry for not being around, or motivated to do commission work. When school starts I can almost never seem to get anything done and it leads to some shitty domino effect where my motivation just get all dried up and I haven't felt like drawing in months outside of school u.u

But it's Winter Break now, and I plan to tackle as much as I can. Thank you guys for being patient with me and the shitty waiting time ;___;

Yeah, 2 days ago was my b-day. I turned 21! I had a colada for my first alcoholic drink xD And today I had my 2nd drink which was a Mike's Hard Lemonade! I quickly knew I was the type to like the sugary types of drinks :P Sake and Beer is gross lol.

It's been a cool weekend.

Last week I met the creators of the Book of Life and took a picture with them and got their autographs on my book of life art book and poster.

And my grandma framed my poster for my birthday! And my lovely girlfriend got me a Manolo Legacy figure and a POP Manolo figure. *u* So much Book of Life things for me <33333 I'm so happy!

But yeah, I'm still looking' for voice actors/musicians btw! So feel free to leave a comment on that previous journal :) I apologize things have been slow in regards to replies because I have limited internet access atm x.x (only online right now because I;m at my grandma's house)

So here's the deal, next semester is when I start planning out my senior film, and some of the ideas I have involve characters with dialog yeah?

I'd love to make some connections to some more voice actors so I can have a larger range to choose from! I already have the lovely  shimcat who voices Commando, but I can't expect him to cover ALL my characters of course.

Also a long shot, but making some connections to student musicians would be wicked cool too! People who like to create music and etc.

But keep in mind, I'm a /student/ and this is a /student project/. Meaning I can't afford to pay anyone…My school eats all that money away, so all this stuff would be for fun and to get your name in credits which could look pretty nice on a resume! I'm sorry I can't offer more than that, but making/collaberating on a fun student film will hopefully make up for that!

There is a difference between making designs based on property owned by a COMPANY compared to an OC that is owned by an INDEPENDENT ARTIST SUCH AS YOURSELF.

If you made an image/video/etc and it got popular, would you REALLY like to see people take your OC and use it to make a profit? I doubt it. So why is this concept so hard to understand?

There is no 'grey area' as I pointed out, there is a difference.

ONE: Owned by a company and is company property, that company makes money regardless if people make knock offs or whatever (see: pokemon, sonic, etc.) and overall DOES NOT EFFECT THEM /AS MUCH/ FINANCIALLY. (yes its arguable that pirating is effecting them and yada yada but overall they are still making money off their products)

TWO: An independent artist's characters, not owned by anyone but themselves, a project that's probably independently funded. This person made this thing for fun and is not exactly profiting off it (and certainly not to the extent of something owned by a company)

I'm not entirely bothered by stuff inspired by it if there's artistic integrity involved, but I've seen a couple that are straight up Lewis but with someone's fursona ears glued on. Not to mention there's apparently porn that's spawned from this whole thing.

BUT DISCLAIMER: I acknowledged the maker of the video gave his blessing for people to make icons and avatars. So as far as I'm concerned it's okay to do it. I'm not a fan of it but hey, his wishes ya know? THE ONLY THING I WANT IS THAT PEOPLE SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONE AND TWO. Please double-check things that are popular that are not done by a company, double check that an independent artist is okay with it first. THATS ALL I'M ASKING.

If you disagree and think anything from anyone that spontaneously arises is fair game, you're kinda an asshole and are potentially harming independent artists (such as yourself if you draw).

But hey :V You can just ignore these facts and -unwatch me and pretend it's all okay instead of owning up to problematic practices. Whatever man. *shrug*

For some reason people took it personally when I was just speaking in general, there's a shit ton of it in my inbox so I wasn't singling one person out. Again if you're not willing to own up to any mistake or potential mistake then that says a lot about you as an artist.

Okay, so correct me if I'm wrong on ANY of this information, I haven't dug to deeply into it or know the exact details.

But I'm pretty sure that Mystery Skull's Video that's gotten really popular was a video made by independent artists, and I'm guessing the characters in the video are that (or the other artist's involved) Original Characters?

As a community that's very protective of original characters, I find it really REALLY odd that I see people taking Lewis from the video and making furry knock off versions of him? Profitting off this guy's independent video and character design?

I mean, when Five Night's At Freddy's came out, it kinda made sense to me why it would spark people making icons and etc off it. Not to mention the person who created it is making money off his game. There are multiple animatronics so it makes sense why there would be people designing their own animatronic for fun.

Lewis is an independent, SINGLE character in the story. It's not like Sonic world where there's multiple characters with the same 'template' he is literally his own single self. So it makes absolutely no sense to me why people think it's okay to just take this character and make rip off's of him just because the video got pretty popular? It's still someone's OC isn't it?

Again, correct me or link me some sources that say otherwise I'd really appreciate it! If this guy gave the okay that you can make similar designs to his OC or whatever then completely disregard this, but as an animator, it makes me a tad uneasy people are taking Lewis and profiting off rip off designs of him…

School tends to do this to me, but it's happened way worse this year I feel…I just have very littler desire to interact with anyone…aaaand that sucks.

I've been growing less and less motivated to draw in general, I've turned in all my midterms but just in general I doodle less, even at school. I haven't touched my sketchbook in DAYS..maybe weeks? or anything other than class assignments.

I'm really bummed, I feel like each year I get less and less motivated and less creative as time moves on…

So I recently saw the Book of Life. It's a really beautiful film, and I love it to pieces. I want to see it again like 17 more times in theatre ahh.

It also reminded me how much my culture means to me too. I'm Hispanic and growing up I used to spend a lot of time with my grandma and I used to do Folklorico dancing for YEARS. Though my attention span in classes were not up to par with the other kids and being in dresses made me incredibly unhappy so I stopped doing that and kinda just forgot about a lot of those things. Seeing stuff related to hispanic culture always reminds me its who I am still.

So I'm sure sugar skull related fursuits already a thing, but I'd love to get one of Chu Chu or something? or a new sona for it, I donno yet! But wahhh it sounds fun *w*

But yeah, anyways. This is a pointless updated n' all. This is my final week of midterms so hopefully I can relax soon (been stressed to the max). If you haven't seen the Book of Life please go see it! It's soooo pretty!

My animation work got a lot more feedback then I was expecting! I didn't think people would notice it since it's not super colorful or anything and it's just some rough pencil tests.

Based on that I'll likely be uploading more of my animation work. Might upload a few older projects too. I only just noticed I do a lot of animal/anthro characters with these assignments.

So I just had my first week of school. And despite only having 5 classes I can already tell it's going to be a struggle to keep up, Especially since I can't even seem to get a fucking checkered pattern texture applied to a ball in Maya…CG Animation will likely be the death of me this semester…I can already feel it.

But yeah, I'm going to have a LOT of work, so art here is going to slow down. If you're the impatient type of person who asks a lot of questions…Please contact me about a refund. I really cannot have my energy split evenly between school and commissions, so if you're uncomfortable that I might take a long time to finish your commission let me know now okay?

Getting notes about "where's my commission?" stresses me out, there's a REASON I have a 3-month policy. And until it reaches exactly 3 months, I REALLY would prefer you not ask me where your commission is. Once it's 3-months I will gladly answer questions, but anything earlier then that makes me incredibly stressed out especially when I stress it that I am NOT a fast artist. This is NOT my job, it's currently a side hobby as I study Animation and if that's something that you feel is unacceptable to take that long to finish a commission (which is completely understandable!) then I want to give you your money back so we dont have any conflict!

Basically what I'm saying is, in order to commission me, you've to be a patient person; and I please ask you not ask me 'where is my commission?' until AFTER 3 months. If you don't agree with these rules that are on my terms of service please don't commission me!

I get ALL my commissions done. Some take longer than others, waaaay longer, but I guarantee you I will not run away with your money. I will never scam you. I just need full understanding that I am a college student and life gets in the way of me getting things done in what most consider a 'timely manner'. I fully admit to my flaws, and I hope we can all come to an understanding about them~

Firstly I didn't think I'd get that many responses on my previous journal wowie. Thanks everyone who commented n' gave their thoughts on the matter! I enjoyed reading your different opinions and experiences/feelings about your fursonas gosh. It's helped me get over the whole people getting my species wrong thing because you're right, no matter what you are even typical animals get mistaken for something else and it'd be silly to get that upset over it.

Also, also, I'm sorry guys who got a really late thank you for watching me! I had let my new watchers pile up and some of you got pretty darn late responses and I always feel bad I do that pretty often but I get so busy with other things! But I do want to send thank yous so they're a little late wah! I hope ya don't mind em.

I'm experiencing that as of late. And it makes me angry because I was so sure Chu would be my final fursona, I've already bought a lot of Chu things and whatnot.

But it gets so exhausting explaining to people what Chu is in person, people are utterly confused at what species I am in fursuit and I always have to say "he's a…seahorse sea monster thing" in order for people to kinda make sense of it, which makes me feel like I failed as a character designer because it's not readable from the start.

I've been kinda thinking about just switching my fursona entirely to be a purebred seahorse, no mixes or anything just an anthro seahorse. I think that'd be really cool. People always have a positive reaction to when I say my tail is a seahorse tail.

Wahh. Life is so confusing, I feel like I'm cursed to never keep a fursona forever.

Though I am saving up to get a seahorse fursuit of a character of mine, maybe just owning a seahorse character will make me not have to change Chu Chu. Who a know!

Do you guys ever get tired of your fursona and bounce back to liking them or do you just move on and make a new one?

I've been trying to think up some new icon themes as I only have 3 to choose from, I like getting to draw expressions people don't typically get! And I kinda thought about Glutton icons?

Like a character making goofy faces as they eat their favorite food! Or their cheeks are stuffed with food and they look mighty silly! Stuff like that! I always found cartoons hilarious and sometimes cute how characters act around their favorite foods (or just the opportunity to stuff their bellies in general)

Would icons like that interest you guys? It'd be another opportunity to see your characters making not-so-typical faces! IDK its just a thought :3 If you'd ever want one I'd love a comment below for some input!

I'm certain people'd want examples before commissioning me for one, so I'm going to study a bit!
