Yall gonna make me lose my mind up in here.
Posted 8 years agoI'm sure many of you have seen this already and a hundred times. But I can't get enough of it.
Something came to mind after watching BTTF III
Posted 8 years agoAfter a fuel line breaks on the Delorian in the old west I couldn't help but think if fantasy mirrored reality a bit better rather than flying car conversion it would have been an electric conversion. Only two years removed from 2015 and we see electric cars that could run circles around the gas powered Delorian. And everything would have been run off a smart phone rather than a circuit larger than the laptop I am currently typing on. The homemade fusion generator is still a work of fiction but go far enough ahead in time and there could be conventional ways of creating or storing 1.21 jigawatts of power (WHAT THE HELL IS A JIGAWATT!?) in something no bigger than a household appliance.
Either way I think the Delorian would have come back fully electric with enough memory and power to be fully self sustaining.

Who remembers this from Brave Little Toaster.
Posted 8 years agoBack when it was released I was 10 years old. And now its a 30 year old movie. It had some pretty dark parts in it. Parts that would offend a lot of people today. But I digress, and say this was by far the part that had me paying the closest attention from my love of cars. Listening to the stories the cars had to tell before meeting their death. The red Vette of course was a standout part to me for two reasons. The singer performing that part really fit with what the Corvette stands for in America. And the second reason is because Kansas City is where I am from and still reside. Well still live in the area and work in the city.
What part did you find particularly grasping to you? And what did you get out of hearing the stories the cars had to tell?

Indy 500 spoilers.
Posted 8 years agoFor those who have already watched it or couldn't and want to know what happened...
Takuma Sato wins his first Indy 500 and only second race of his career. Sneaking past Helio Castroneves who seemed to be headed for his fourth win in that race.
In the other news it was a great showing for Fernando Alonso in his first attempt at the race but fell short after his Honda engine gave out. And Scott Dixon had a huge crash with Helio just able to drive underneath him.
Happily everyone came out of the race uninjured and we will see everyone back for next year's race including Sebastian after his crash in qualifying kept him from taking part.
It was a very fun race to watch this year.

New Year, new hope. And getting back at it here.
Posted 9 years agoIt's January second at least almost 3 am here as I post this on my work break. I plan on finishing out the pictures from last year in the next week so I can get started with the first car show of the year here in Kansas City this February. The world of wheels going on for as long as I can remember at Bartle Hall in KC, MO. Then a week later Monster Jam returns to the Sprint center, our arena just blocks from Bartle. And where the victory parade for our Royals happened just a little over a year ago. Hard to believe its been that long already and the Cubbies are now the new defending champs 108 years after their last.
Far as the car shows this year I will put out an itinerary as soon as I have the info gathered. But I can say my favorite show will no longer be around only a decade after it started. The Art of the car concourse of which I am still posting the cars from last years. The promoters decided it was too costly to keep it running. So definitely sad news for me and all who loved seeing the vintage and iconic cars that show brought in from all over.
Hope you all have had a great Christmas and New Years. And like the title says we have new hope for this year after a very trying 2016.

Still here and trying to come back ASAP.
Posted 9 years agoTo those wondering I am still around and still have pictures to pose from the June car show. It was the last car show I was able to hit this year but was able to hit a drag race at Kansas Speedway back in July as well. I may post the pictures of that if they are good enough quality. Only had my phone and it was dark with bad lighting.
Anyway as it is today marks one year since my grandpa passed away. And its been a rough year all the way around. From four family members and one of my dogs passing, to two highschool classmates (one was murdered) and two police officer friends being killed in the line of duty within two months of each other. The tragic accident at my workplace and then on Halloween night the owner of the company passed away as well.
I hope to return to normal by the start of 2017 where I hope to have the rest of the 2016 pictures posted and can get ready for the first car show of `17 in February.

Way to go Cubbies!!
Posted 9 years agoFirst time since 1945 reaching the World Series, lets see if they can take it all for the first time since 1908. 108 years... my great grandma was born in 1908, just a month after the Cubs won it the last time. I know it was amazing when my Royals won the whole thing last year after 30 years so I can imagine what its like for Cubs fans who's grandparents weren't even old enough to have witnessed the last pennant.
I honestly can't deny the irony of the fact that despite it being a year late Back to the Future seems to have nearly predicted this. Of course they aren't facing a Miami team rather a Cleveland team who's city hadn't seen a champion in more than 40 years until the Cavaliers this year. And of course as well the Miami team is the Marlins not the Gators. Lets just hope that the outcome in BTTF is the same in real life.

Hey all about to get back to it. Hope ya'll are doing good.
Posted 9 years agoSo there has been a lot going on. A lot that I have been dealing with. Many deaths of family and friends including three murders, two of them were police officers. One death at where I work which resulted in my having to work a lot more hours of security there.
But things are starting to finally slow down with the Holidays approaching. Which means I can start working on putting up the remaining pictures from as far back as the June car show. Hope you all have been sticking it out waiting for my return to show some more automotive eye candy. And thanks to the 14 more watchers since I signed off for the last two months.
While I was away we got some exciting news in the car world. Most notably the fact that we should be getting a brand new Delorian model in 2017 and Ford announced the return of the Bronco, and the full sized one too. Not the dinky Ranger Bronco as I called them since Chevy did that with the S10 Blazer. I'm sure there is a lot of other news that I missed in my absence but be sure I will sift through it all to find the most interesting stuff including the racing champions to be crowned this year and the champions already crowned.

Tragic accident at my workplace keeping me away.
Posted 9 years agoMany of you may have heard by now about the accident at a waterpark that claimed the life of a ten year old boy. That waterpark is the one I work at with a friend also from FA. It was on the world tallest slide and something happened, which the investigation goes on as to why it happened. Needless to say the accident was fatal for the boy. With that I had been working extra hours along with everyone else and really just all the employees coming together to comfort each other and the family of the boy. The other four parks with the same name in Texas also lending their support to us all, and the community not only coming together for the family but us at the park as well.
Its all been a bit overwhelming the attention both good and bad we have been receiving mostly the bad coming from the media. I was able to find some therapeutic means when I was able to get in some drag racing at Kansas Speedway. So once things calm down here I will be finishing up the pics from the concourse from June, and getting the pics from the drag race up here as well.
For now keep everyone involved in your thoughts and prayers.

Posted 9 years agoBy Bob Bondurant also starting a Shelby Cobra he raced. He did start and run the Shelby Daytona Coupe he won Lemans with but I was unable to get decent video of that one.
And here is his youtube page highlighting his career and his driving/racing school he started. Sadly he has had a stroke recently so his speech wasn't what it used to be.

Posted 9 years agoI was at the 10th annual Art of the car concourse show in Kansas City, Missouri at the Kansas City art institute today. It was a hot, humid and very dry but a few things made it well worth it and those pictures and two videos will be coming soon.
Anyway thanks to the 17 watchers I received while I was dealing with other issues in life and couldn't get around to resetting the password after the attack on FA a month ago.

This was part of the funeral for the officer I called friend
Posted 9 years agoI just had to share it. To me it symbolized just what blue lives matter stands for. It stands for black, white, hispanic and asian working together as a family to protect and serve their community. Amid all the black lives matter rhetoric here is a black man and officer singing "Amazing Grace" for his fallen comrade a white officer barely able to get through the song. I, a white man sat with two friends who are black women, the three of us fighting back our own tears during this mourning our fallen friend. We are a community. Not just identified by what color our skin is. But by our character and love for our community.
Closest finish in NHRA history.
Posted 9 years agoGoing to the funeral for a friend tomorrow. Pretty shaken up
Posted 9 years agoThis friend was a local police officer and was shot and killed last Monday afternoon. I knew him through my job working security. He would work there off duty and I would relieve him every Monday night during the summer when he was needed. It hit pretty hard, we were just about to open for the summer and I was looking forward to talking with him about the Royals World Series win last year since I hadn't seen him since last September when we closed for the winter. Now only two weeks from opening this year that chance has gone, he was only a year older than I and the worst part is he leaves two young daughters 9 and 10 years old. All thanks to a gutless cowardly asshole.
Rest in Peace officer Brad Lancaster. Your duty to your community is done tragically too soon.

The new Ford GT wins its first race.
Posted 9 years agoThe #67 Ford GT pulls off a win at Laguna Seca. Its the first win by the one of the two new cars since the start of the Weathertech series season this year. Not a bad way to head towards the 24H Lemans with the four car team, two more than run in the Weathertech series.

Hmm maybe posting yourself breaking the law isnt a good idea
Posted 9 years agoAs this dumbass figured out. First he puts himself and others in danger by running from the police even passing three different school buses at high speed. And why? Because he didn't want a ticket for popping a wheelie. Now he has lost his freedom and if I was the judge in this case I would make sure after he serves the maximum sentence for that kind of stupidity that he is never able to get a motorcycle license again. Harsh? Yeah but imagine if he had lost control and killed himself. That would a have been a much worse fate for him that never being able to ride a motorcycle.

Formula 1 and Indycar to merge in 2020.
Posted 9 years agoIn a joint effort to bring in fans from each series both are set to merge in 2020. Bernie Ecclestone in a meeting with Jay Frye, the president of Indycar hashed out the plans in early March, only just revealed today. The cars will be a conjunction of F1 tech and Indycar tech to make them the most advanced cars on the racetrack. Honda already on board with McLaren in F1 will end their program with the other teams and focus solely on trying to make that combination work as it did when Ayrton Senna piloted the former incarnation. Chevrolet who supplied engines for Indycar as well said they are looking forward to competing in such a high ranking series. Many of the Indycar owners are ready to test their wares in the new series as well. Both Ganassi and Penske said they welcome the chance to join Gene Haas as the American teams ready to take on the world. Officials at Andretti racing had no comment at the current time citing reservations at the prospect. Both Eccelstone and Fyre are said to be very excited over the prospect of having Indycar drivers racing at famed F1 events such as Monaco, and to have F1 drivers racing at the Indy 500.
Tesla teasing the official reveal of the Model 3 March 31st.
Posted 9 years agoThe most affordable Tesla yet and is set to compete with the BMW 3 series. Given that both the Model S and the Model X are the fastest accelerating cars in their class I would say chances are pretty good they will succeed. Lets hope beemer fans don't get a nose out of joint.

Ferrari testing cockpit halo protection.
Posted 9 years agoAt least they are the first to test it. This comes in response to the death of Justin Wilson last year. The problem I see with the design as good as it would be protecting from larger objects like what hit Justin, it wouldn't stop smaller objects like the part that hit Phillipe Massa in the head a few years ago which could have killed him.
NHRA has been using a closed cockpit in its top fuel dragsters for a few years now for the same purpose of stopping debris from hitting the drivers. And I would think if those can handle the g forces and the speeds reaching 330MPH in less than four seconds I would say those could handle the cornering of an Indy or F1 car. Plus it wouldn't impede the vision of the driver like the one shown in the link.

Domino's pizza building their own cars now.
Posted 9 years agoOkay so maybe not. Its just a reworked Chevy Spark without the Chevy badges on them and built to keep your pizza's hot. Everybody by now knows that Domino's is the best at doing the gimmicks to promote their pizza's but this is one gimmick that probably is going to cost them the most. In a way it reminds me of the old NAPA trucks that had the baseball caps on the roofs but more functional.
