Another Rough Spot
Posted 3 years agoAbout a month ago my landlord gave me the news that I had to move. The previous month they'd shut off the internet because they decided they weren't using it enough to justify the cost. So I've spent the past month apartment hunting with only my phone for internet. It did not go well. Everyone I talk to agrees, it's a shit time to be apartment hunting. Rent has gone way up, and there's just not much available.
Things might improve for me later this year, my doctor has started trying to get me on to disability due to some health issues that have been plaguing me for years. It would make my income more reliable, and open up some housing options to me, but it's a long process and I've absolutely no idea when, or even if really, it will finally go through. In the short term a friend has told me I could sleep on their couch, but they don't have much space right now and I've got no other options. I'll have to figure something out. I've just no idea how right now.
This also put me in the position where I'll be losing my day job, leaving me with no income. So I'll be opening up commissions again to try and get some money coming in. I already have, in fact, but the first round of slots filled up fast. I'll be sure to post here when I can open up additional commission slots.
Anyway, that's where I'm at right now in 2022. Hope your year is going better!

Broken Arm Update
Posted 5 years agoI'm on the mend. I'm finally out of the arm binder and attending physical therapy. I am also taking commissions again! If you'd like to commission me you can send me a note here on FA, or email me at snowdon at gmail.com You can also find me livestreaming at https://picarto.tv/SNOWDON whenever I'm able.
I'm also still taking donations at https://www.paypal.me/SnowdonArt Being unable to work for two months has put me way behind on rent, bills and everything else.
Either way I appreciate any support I can get.

So, I Broke My Arm.
Posted 5 years agoA few weeks ago I slipped on the stairs and broke my drawing arm.
I'm ok now but my arm is in a sling for the next month, this means I can't work on commissions or even go to my day job. If you'd like to help, I still need to pay rent and bills, and I have no savings to fall back on. I'm considering creating a GoFundMe but in the meantime I can take donations at https://www.paypal.me/SnowdonArt
Any help would be very much appreciated.

No Stream Tonight, Family Emergency.
Posted 5 years agoSorry but I won't be around tonight (Wednesday the 26th) for the planned commission stream. Something came up. I hope to be streaming tomorrow.
FA exists, I should use it to tell people I'm streaming!
Posted 6 years agoI am streaming, and taking commissions. Commission info in my channel at https://picarto.tv/SNOWDON
Come get a commission slot, or just hang out and watch me work! I'll be making comic pages until I start getting commissions.

Pardon the dust, I've been making comics.
Posted 6 years agoYeah, I've really been neglecting this account. If you follow me here and wonder what I've been up to all this time, you can see for yourswelf at www.TheSprawlComic.com I'm up to the 5th chapter now, and the story is constantly evolving. Where will it all lead? Well, I know, but I'd be a pretty poor storyteller if I just laid it out in a journal post like this. You'll just have to keep reading the comic!
And throw money at my Patreon if you want new comic pages to come out faster. https://www.patreon.com/drawholic Patrons get early access to pages, and those early access pages are all higher resolution than what goes on the comic's website. I also tend to share behind the scenes info like concept art, works in progress, background information on the story, and more.
OH! And if you're enjoying The Sprawl, you can now get it in book form!
https://ringtailcafe.com/comics/the-sprawl/
Book 1 is available now. Books 2 and 3 are coming very soon!
I will also be opening for commissions again soon. I'll post some updated price information when that happens.

MASSIVE SPRAWL UPDATE
Posted 8 years agoHello, dear readers!
There has been an absolutely massive update to "The Sprawl", so much so you're probably going to want to go back and read it all again from the beginning.
LOG:01 has had a complete facelift. The art and lettering have both been improved, bringing it up to the quality seen in more recent pages.
There have also been changes to LOG:02 and 03 but mostly narrative, to make the story read better and shine a spotlight on plot points that may not have been so clear.
http://thesprawlcomic.com/index.php?c=01&p=001
After you've checked it out be sure to let me know what you think of all the changes!

Gallery Updates
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone! Just a reminder that I'll be updating this gallery far less frequently, mostly for purely adult content from here on out. Be sure to follow my alternate account at snowdon! I'm currently dumping the old pages of "The Sprawl" there, but once I finish that's where I'll be posting the weekly updates.
Also, if you've only been following me on FA, be sure to check out the official site of "The Sprawl" at http://www.thesprawlcomic.com as updates there are always guaranteed, even during those periods when I can't make the time to update my FA gallery, like the past couple of months.

My PC RIP 2011-2016
Posted 9 years agoI'll update again later, but but for those wondering about the lack of activity here on FA and other sites, my PC died. And it picked the absolute worst time to. I may not be back up and running until Tuesday, which means this week I currently have off of work is a wash.
2015 Ursa Major Award Nominations
Posted 10 years ago It is time.
The 2015 Ursa Major Award nominations are here. Last year's winner for Best Graphic Story was "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" from IDW publishing.
The best way you can support new, independent content is to spread the word and this is a prime opportunity. Sign up now and nominate your favourite anthro content from 2015 for an award. Like, for example, nominating "The Sprawl" for best Graphic Story of 2015.
It's in your hands now, dear readers.

Rebranding for 2016 (Watch my new account!)
Posted 10 years agoAlright. Long story short, I am consolidating my online identities. When I created my FA account about ten years ago, I picked this username for lack of anything better, but it's not really an artist name I go by anywhere. I don't sign anything "Getta" and Getta was never really any sort of fursona for me, just a character among dozens. (Although cooler looking than most.)
With that in mind, if you are watching this account you're going to want to add SNOWDON to your watch list. I am no longer going to be uploading Sprawl pages to this account. Getta will still be used for adultier content (mostly commission work), so keep it around if that's your bag, but the bulk of my content will now be uploaded to SNOWDON along with my most up to date commission information (when I start taking commissions again).
For the next few months, expect a weekly "Hey, check out my other account" reminder, after which this account will only be the occasional adult upload.
Also, for those following the comic on its official site, update your bookmarks to www.thesprawlcomic.com

Happy New Year, 2016!
Posted 10 years agoI'm going to be spending the night at my favourite dive bar so I won't have the time nor the sobriety to make a post later tonight.
2015 was weird. Lot of stress working to get a brand new job, then ultimately discovering this new job was not what I imagined. It wasn't a bad year, it wasn't a good year. It was certainly a huge improvement over 2014.
What's in store for 2016? . I'll likely be leaving my new job, but in the meantime it pays well enough that I'm quickly clearing away my debt and should have money put away by the time the summer con season rolls around. Until then I'll be on the hunt for something better. I don't plan to quit until I have something new lined up.
I've changed my Patreon from a per-month to a per-page arrangement. Even with my existing patrons adjusting their pledges, with all of the new patrons to come aboard I should be making a lot more per month. Still not nearly enough to live off of, but it's an encouraging sign that I may yet be able to consider it in the future.
What about "The Sprawl"? You can expect the comic to continue all the way through 2016. Right now I expect the whole story to be 5 chapters long, which means, unless I manage to go full time on it, I'll still be working on this story well into 2017. In addition, I plan to go on the offensive, promoting the comic online and through the convention circuit beginning summer, 2016. Look forward to it!
So, things are looking up for 2016, and I hope 2016 is great for all of you as well. I'll see you all again next week with the first Sprawl page of 2016.

Two Full Years of "The Sprawl" (Almost!)
Posted 10 years agoWe're coming up on the end of 2015, and that will also mark the end of the second year of "The Sprawl".
The first page of "The Sprawl" was posted on Wednesday, January 1st, 2014, back when I had time to post two pages every week. Now, as the New Year approaches, we're halfway through the third chapter, almost 150 pages into the story. We're only about halfway through the book, so I expect to be doing this for another two years, as long as life allows it.
You can help. Making a comic is work. It may be enjoyable work for the artist, but it is work nonetheless. It takes between 6-12 hours for me to put together one page of "The Sprawl". So I can do the comic and try and pay bills at the same time, I set up a Patreon. I'm only asking for $1 per page. For that, readers get access to each month's pages in a single dump at the start of each month, rather than waiting for the pages to be released once a week.

October 2015 Update
Posted 10 years agoI'm settling into a new job. Not sure how much I like it yet, but it pays well and should last a good, long time if I decide to stick with it.
Also, it gives me time to work on "The Sprawl". In September, my buffer was almost gone, now it's nice and comfortable again. And if I can keep up my current pace I might attempt to increase the number of pages I post each month. Not quite 2 pages a week, but maybe an extra page every 2 weeks.
Speaking of update schedules, I'm considering switching from weekly updates to once-a-month page dumps. Like how I do with my Patreon supporters. Patrons would still be a month ahead of everyone else, but at the beginning of each month I'd dump all the pages for that month, rather than trickling them out one at a time. I've already heard a couple people for and against the idea. Maybe I'll do a poll of some kind and see what everyone thinks.

That's all it takes to help me continue this project. Just remember, since "The Sprawl" does contain nudity and graphic violence, it falls under PayPal's no-adult-content policy, so pledges through PayPal are automatically declined by Patreon. I currently only make about $60 a month off of Patreon despite $135 in pledges and I suspect that's the reason. PayPal does offer alternate methods for supporting adult content and it works great.

"The Sprawl" goes to the Ursa Major Awards
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone,
I'm still getting settled at my new apartment. At the moment I have no bathroom and unreliable internet. However, I do have some good news, "The Sprawl" has been added to the Recommended Reading list for the 2015 Ursa Major Awards. When the 2015 nominations come around you'll all be able to nominate "The Sprawl" as 2015's Anthropomorphic Graphic Story of the year.
There's some stiff competition from great comics like "Lackadaisy" and "Beatriz Overseer" but one thing "The Sprawl" has on many of the other comics recommended this year is regular weekly updates. By the end of this month "The Sprawl" will be wrapping up its second 60 page chapter.
But check the list out for yourself and remember to throw in your nomination early next year.

August Update - 2015
Posted 10 years agoHello everyone,
I actually have news of sorts for this update. I am in the process of moving. Actually I have moved, but the new apartment isn't ready so I'm on the couch of my new upstairs neighbors, who are also friends and renting me this new apartment, until the new apartment is ready. Getting the new apartment ready is going to be taking up a fair amount of my time for the next week or so at least. Once I post this I am heading downstairs to put the first coat of paint on the bedroom walls I helped put up.
I want to shout out to all of my Patreon supporters who continue to make "The Sprawl" possible as an ongoing comic I just received the notice of the August payment. If you're not a supporter and enjoy "The Sprawl" please consider tossing $1 a month at me. Supporters get monthly page dumps rather than waiting on the weekly page updates, so it's like having a mini comic subscription.
https://www.patreon.com/drawholic

One word on that, however, is since I list "The Sprawl" as a mature project, Patreon will decline payments from PayPal. Please check the other payment methods for one that works for you. This month I only received $70 out of the $112 pledged, so about 1/3 of my supporters pledges were declined. This is probably the reason.
Anyway, thank you all for following me and enjoying "The Sprawl", that means a lot to me. I'll be posting another update once I'm all settled in to my new apartment and will hopefully be streaming again within the next week or so.

GuNMouTH YCH Auction
Posted 10 years ago I'm sure most of you are already following GuNMouTH, but for those who aren't, My good friend
gunmouth is doing a collaborative YCH auction with
tsampikos to finance their AC adventures.
This YCH may be too hot to handle, there are butts, boobs and at least one penis. So, sensitive eyeballs should exercise caution.

July Update - Want Faster Sprawl Updates?
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone,
So in my last update I expected to be free for the summer by now. This has not yet happened. My end date was pushed to July 8th so I've got another week of work ahead of me. After that, aside from the time I'll be putting towards moving, I should be in the clear to begin all those big summer plans. I should be posting another update around then.
Once again, I do want to thank my Patreon supporters and remind all of my readers that "The Sprawl" is made possible by reader support. For only one dollar a month, supporters get each month's pages right on the first of the month, rather than waiting for the weekly updates. The more support I get, the more time it frees up for me to put towards the comic.
It takes me 8-12 hours to complete one page of "The Sprawl", a full workday and then some. Longer than that for some of the crazy detailed pages (wait until you see the end of LOG:02 and the opening of LOG:03 next month!). That's why while working full time I can only do updates one page a week.
This also means that, with enough support, I could be putting out a full 20-page comic issue almost every month. Which supporters would still get on the first of each month for only one dollar. That means 3 months to finish each of these 60 page chapters rather than a year. I can do that, but not without you guys. So if you want to see more of "The Sprawl", at a faster pace, please consider it, it's only one dollar a month.

The Sprawl on Reddit
Posted 10 years agoI'd never really looked at Reddit before, but decided to join up and make a thread about "The Sprawl". It's a friendly crowd over there so I've been a bit chatty.
