Quick Poll
Posted 8 years agoJust wondering how many of my followers and fur friends will be attending Anthrocon this week? I was also wondering if anyone needed room. I'd love to hear some replies to this.
2 Questions for my Followers
Posted 8 years agoI have two pressing questions I just gotta ask everyone.
1) Who is going to Anthrocon this year? I have 1 space left in my room and was looking for someone to share. So far it's
gorillajack
jonouchi and
shirobear
2) I've picked up and began playing a new game of Final Fantasy X from the HD collection. It's my favorite in the series. (I put 130 hrs. Into my PS2 version) It's so gorgeous. BUT I am feeling SOOOOOoooooo guilty. I have boxes of games I haven't even touched or taken out of the shrink wrap and here I am playing one I've beat before. Should I feel guilty? How do I get over it?

Pain Again
Posted 8 years agoOkay, now I'm flat out bitching, because my last nerve is raw and agitated.
Yesterday was the first saturday I've had off all year. I've worked ten hours a day, six days a week for five weeks, and I'm a bit burnt out. So I've finally had the opportunity to rest and take care of chores that have been piling up.
So today I just wanted to get a haircut. So apparently I can't even do that without downloading a god damn app! The barber's opened at ten o'clock today because it was Sunday. No problem. I get there at nine fifty five thinking I'll be early. They're already open, all their seats taken and more people standing. I open the door and the frazzleded front desk girl says 'Hour and a half at least hun.' No problem. Till this douchebag (sideways cap, pencil thin bears, baggy shorts and those stupid socks pulled up past his kness) walks in and holds up his phone. The same girl who just told me an hour and a half tells him to take a seat. Now myself and two others are like 'umm whats going on?' "He checked in with his phone.".
NO. Just no. We need to strip back all this god damn electronic crap and cut our dependency on our mobile devices and go back to pencil and paper. I don't need or want all this in my life. I just want it a little more simple. I am just about done with it. My blood was close to boiling, the perfect end to a bipolar week.
It didn't help when my best friend was totally unsympathetic and just went. "You are such a luddite." Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Little Pain
Posted 8 years agoI'm just posting a little squib here, because among all the troubles I've been facing these past two months, something small this week has really bothered me. still is.
I was sitting at one of the tables in my company's break room and an obnoxious co-worker came over to me with a question, then obnoxious people from another department a table over jeered at me. Heres the conversation.
Co-worker: So, did the guy who made Pac-man die or something?
Me: Awww. DID Professor Iwatani pass away?
Other Table: WEEEB!!!!

Nicktoons, Nerve Damage and Dumb Cash
Posted 9 years agoI just want input on this journal, comments and ideas.
This past week I've basically insulated myself in my home town to recover while on medical leave. It's nice wrapping myself in nostalgia with friends I haven't seen in a while. Reminds me of the good old days. But I've had some ideas as well that I would like to hear people comment on.
1) After all my tests at the doctor's, I've gotten a clean bill of health except for some muscle pain, and that it looks like I severed two of the four nerves in my finger. So it's numb and making typing difficult.
2) Being back I've had the opportunity to see shows and commercials I've never seen before. But checking through what passes for Nicktoons now was kinda cool. I turned on the TV and the new Ninja Turtles was on, and the first thing I realized was... Hey That's Jeffery Combs! I just finished DS9 last week....
3) This is what I really want input on. I was going through boxes of old drawings and I realized not all of them are that good. BUT I kinda wanted to redraw a number of them. THEN I thought....hey what about auctioning off a grab bag of my old original pencils. Whats a good price? Could I fold them in normal envelopes? Would there be a market?
So comments please.

This bloody Ape
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone,
Wanted to let you know why I've been so scarce lately. Work has been rough since Thanksgiving due to coworkers and being short staffed. It has been a very unpleasant work environment. It was getting to the point I dreaded going to work, almost crying at bedtime. Infact the constant pressure has resulted in daily overtime. So my nerves were stressed to begin with today.
Today I was trying to relax by working on a model. Working on it with an exacto-knife it finally gave and I slashed my left hand middle finger bad. I instantly saw stars and felt pain, then saw blood all over my workbench. I blotted with paper-towels, but it kept soaking through. I ran to the tub and flushed with cold water to stem the bleeding and put a hell of a lot of pressure on with a clean cloth. Nervous I began to feel lightheaded, I got onto the floor and practiced breathing. I passed out for 2 minutes. I could tell becase the same song was still on the radio. I wrapped my finger in gauze to no avail, so sprayed a ton of dermaplast on it and headed to the ER.
I had a great doctor and she even took into account my tendency to pass out. So now I have six stitches in my finger and a note taking me off work tonight. Her not gave me an order not to use my left hand for 7 days, so I had to burn all my personal time to make that work. This is after all my vacation was cancelled by work to make up for us being short staffed. So Ho ho ho, life works in shitty ways huh? Guess I got what I wanted a few days off. Just needed to get all the feelings out. Don't want to bother you or make you think I'm fishing for sympathy, just needed to share with someone.

Question for followers...
Posted 9 years agoHey guys, Gorilla Jack here, exhausted after a 55 hour work week and helping several friends in crisis. I've been doing a lot of reading to escape and I have a question for you.
As an ape, I don't have a tail, and they look so fun! Especially the prehensile ones my monkey cousins have. So, whats it like to have a tail, and to play with one?

Posted 9 years agoHave you ever suffered from anxiety and stress?
I wanted to let everyone know that I'm okay since I haven't been available this weekend.
So lets cover my stress. My company health screening was a disaster. At my scheduled health screen the phlebotomist couldn't draw enough blood. So I took a break and an hour later I drove back and another woman was unable to get enough blood. I know I'm a hard draw.... So after a night at work everyone recommended I go to a different service center. So after an hour wait I get in and they want a student to draw me. I ask them for someone more experienced. HE failed at my elbow, then twice at my fore arm and finally got serious and drew my blood with an old fashioned butterfly at the back of my hand. My blood work came back in the danger levels, but only marginally. They would say your triglycerides should be less than 200mg/dcl and I had 201. Things like that. And from the stress my blood pressure was through the roof.
So then I worked a seven day week and planned to go to my parents' home over the labor day weekend. Then on Monday I get word from my apartment complex that my building is going to be renovated and they have to move me to a new unit. They will provide boxes and use a hired moving company. The catch; I only have seven days to pack. Lots of stress.
So Saturday I'm freaking out and end up buying reasonable sized boxes, since the boxes I'm provided are HUGE! If I packed those with books no one could move them. So I finally head to my parents.
I realized that I left my phone in my apartment. So today I was trying to just relax. I go to put my laundry in the dryer and the washer broke putting my parent's basement under two inches of water. Grr. Then I go to buy more boxes. Wal-mart was totally sold out! Gr. I go to Meijer and they only had two boxes. AND They were charging $4.99 per box! No way in hell. So I played a few games at my friend's game shop and as I was leaving the reflection of the sun off a passing car gave me a headache for three hours.
So all I've been trying to do today is relax and not stress. Keep my blood pressure down. So out of town with no phone is why I haven't kept in touch with my friends if any of you were wondering. I guess typing this out also helped me deal a bit, so sorry to bog down all my new watchers with this.

16bit pains...
Posted 9 years agoWell the infamous Ohio August humidity and heat recently killed my computer. So I've scrapped up 600$ and recently built a pretty decent machine if I do say so myself. So now begins the somewhat arduous task of getting my software installed and massaging out the few little niggles here and there.
BIG PROBLEM FOR ME; one of my quintisential programs I use for gaming will not work. It's old, came out during the Windows NT era 16 years ago. So every work around I come up with has failed. No compatibility mode, no 32bit mode, windows XP mode won't work on my version of windows, so I'm down to trying to build a god damn virtual machine for just one 50 MB program! Any advice?

So much feels from a movie!
Posted 9 years agoTonight I had the pleasure to watch the film "The Boy and The Beast". At first I just thought 'Japanese Furries'. But it was so much more, I haven't been moved by an animated movie for quite some time. I recommend it to anyone.
Also I find that it illustrates the best of both traditional and computer animation. The CG adds, assists, and compliments the wonderful hand drawn animation. I simply love it.

Devastating Blow to Technology
Posted 9 years agoMy friends, I have learned some sad news that has put me in a funk all week. This month will mark the production of the Final VCR. The last company producing them has announced they will end production.
I for one have been forced to spend a little money and stock up with two extras to hold on to.
And before you say so what, let this bitter bitter ape point out, I still find the technology superior to DVR's.
You can archive a physical copy! I tape my favorite show, or special, boom, I can set it on the shelf for whenever I want to watch it.
I can throw that tape in a backpack and take it over to my friends house to watch. Can't do that with DVR.
Then of course I still have dozens (bordering on a hundred) beloved films, cartoons and b-movies that have never been released on DVD or Bluray. (Although next month I finally get my Blu-ray of Buckaroo Banzai across the 8th Dimension)
So this ape is sad and binged on some nostalgic purchases on ebay. What does everyone else think?

Furry Feelings and Upcoming Work
Posted 9 years agoWell, I'm sorry that there hasn't been much going on with my page and posts lately. I've returned from Anthrocon and can honestly say that post-con-depression is real. With my return I hope to hammer out the projects at the end of this post.
However unlike past years where I was super excited to go to AC and be there, this year was more like an enjoyable homecoming and was more happy relaxing than happy excited. If that makes sense.
Travel both to and from the con was fraught with troubles like broken windshields and segway riders from hell. BUT ALSO some feelings of inadequacy.
I'm happy to report this as my first parade, and most fur suiting I've done in six months. (Holding my fur suiting badge really uplifts my spirits) BUT I'm also a bit bummed at how shabby my costume is looking compared to others, and my lack luster performance vs many that I've encountered this con. Worst of all I curse my feeble endurance, there were several stretches where I had to walk with my head in my arms and not on, or else face exhaustion. Whereas a lot around me were able to go the entire time in suit, maybe suiting is a young man's field. (Although my heavy resin head may be a contributing factor here)
I feel a little bit as though I'm not as truly a part of the fandom as many I see or as I would like to be. Is my mind just making problems that don't exist? However the recent time among peers and like minded individuals HAS inspired me to get off my ass and get back into finishing a number of furry projects I have in mind. I would really love some input on what I've mentioned above and suggestions and ideas for my stories and pieces below.
-Hospital Horse Play- A medical based story about Jack playing hero and helping some horse furs on a journey of self discovery
-This fucked up ape- the story and art piece based on the 'fuck this ape up' votes I've received.
-Return of Mack- Jacks feelings of loneliness may lead to an encounter with Mack, dirty dirty sex, or violent action packed battle?
-Technophoria- a commission piece featuring the auto-erotic adventures of a synthetic girl
- MEGA FA- A six part story, crossing over with some of my favorite authors on the site, with a nefarious plot linking us all together
-City of Slime- It may have stalled but I will finished this adventure for you

Goodbye Harambe, grrrr
Posted 9 years agoI'm pretty sure you've all been hearing in the news the death of the gorilla Harambe at the Cincinatti Zoo. It's been the only news around this weekend when I came back to my folks for the three day weekend.
I agree with trying not to point fingers at the zoo or the child's parents. However
the more I hear, the more irate I get. Frankly, the situation was mishandled. They made the wrong call. And in my frustration, I want to yell and rant, and tell them that.
I'm sorry to rant, but this is bugging me. People may say (and rightly so) Who the hell am I to make that judgement. I've got my advanced degree, studied primatology, have ten years of zookeeping experience and was accepted to the Dian Fosse Institute in 2006. So my credentials are in place and I couldn't save one gorilla, who was in a zoo, which are us attempting to be the ark to save species from extinction.
Sorry to be so Avrille Levine mad here, but I 'm upset and don't have anyone to talk to.

Posted 9 years agoI have been super busy these past two months with work, crafts and other various projects that I have applied myself towards. I've felt a little guilty because I feel that I've neglected my writing and keeping in touch with the FA community. Rest assured, I haven't forgotten any of my obligations here! I also wanted to give you a preview of the works I have in the pipeline here.

Meek revenge and a plug
Posted 9 years agoAs most of you know, I'm a gaymer, ahem, gamer. I love video games and board games. I've been particularly fond of Heroclix since it's debut in 2001. But as time has gone on the game has changed, been subject to power creep etc. Comics have always been my first love, so a super hero mini game is way up my alley. So after a few months away I entered a constructed tournament. Lost two out of three matches, and in the two I lost I got my ass beat painfully. After each match I purchased a booster pack of additional figures. And in each one I pulled an ultra-rare chase! Three extremely rare and valuable pieces that I didn't have, the odds were astounding. And it kinda stuck in the craw of the guys who beat me senseless. Don't know why, but I felt such an urge to tell this story.
REMINDER: Still looking for votes on this piece.

So 80s!!! Finally animation for me!
Posted 9 years agoI was going to sit down and complain about things that were bothering me this week, that seemed to point in the direction of me just being a luddite. BUT....a friend showed me this video and I couldn't help but smile. This film school project hit on so many memes from the 80s and took inspiration from 11 cartoons that I could identify (mainly silverhawks and thundercats) that I wanted to share the awesome-ness. I'd trade in a lot of contemporary animation for this to be real.

Zootopia Questions...
Posted 9 years agoLike nearly all of you out there I've recently had the opportunity to see Zootopia. I also agree that it was a spectacular film, high praise indeed considering how critical I usually am of CGI films. (For every Zootopia there are ten or twenty Foodfights.) I'm very impressed with the work on every animal's fur. I'm sure you've all read, seen, realized the wonderful messages and allegories that were present, so I won't bother to rehash them. But I do have some questions.
1) I kept looking through the rainforest district, were there any gorillas? Come to think of it I can't remember seeing any primates OR horses represented in the film. (Although I did find one character study for a gorilla online....)
2) I loved the film, but when I think back to it I get a little twinge of sadness, why should this happen? Anyone else have it?
3) Does Judy's vest/uniform remind anyone else of Jill Valentine's Stars uniform?
4) Does it seem likely to anyone else that Nick was at one time a member of the 'natural club'?
I got more questions kicking around my head, but I think I'll leave it off there. Love to hear back from people.

Continueing Adventures and Fetishes?
Posted 10 years agoHmm, since I posted my time line I've been surprised to receive a few requests to do another totally disgusting and depraved Gorilla Brothers story involving all three apes. I guess what I'm posting her is a question on whether there is much more interest in these guys, and if there is some specific theme people want. (More Jack being subby, more new sick things from Mack, or Nick getting dominant. )
But more importantly I want a little feedback on this aspect; I wrote the Gorilla Brothers in 09 after I literally had a dream that played out like the first installment. I kept writing the bros anonymously to explore fetishes and just perv out.
Then when I joined FA in what I assumed would be a soon forgotten website I just made my handle 'Gorilla Jack' from that series.
Now after being here for a few years I've embraced Jack, and really love him, but feel a tinge of guilt or regret that my fursona is inextricably linked to extremely filthy porn. Almost that I've grown beyond the porn....but I just don't know. I guess I'm just rambling now and thingking more that the subject requires. But, what are others' thoughts on this ? I'd love some feed back.

Thanks and a Favor to my Watchers
Posted 10 years agoI honestly try not to flood anyone who has been kind enough to watch me with unimportant junk. But I am desperate for feedback on a project I've committed some time to.
I've had fun working on this little interactive adventure and I'd love for everyone to check it out and give it a once through to see what they think. I was thinking about making a series of these to sell.
Do you think it's viable? A total waste of every fur's time? I just want a little feed back on this one.
I truly hope you enjoy and want to extend gorilla hugs to everyone who has been kind enough to watch me!
You're all great!

Worst Weekend Ever
Posted 10 years agoHey guys, I just wanted to ask what cheers you guys up when things suck?
I had a rough weekend with friends enduring discrimination, followed by someone T-boning my car, and then ended up with my EBAY account being hacked. So shitty week.
The only thing of consolation is that I found my definitive theme song.

Anthro-Heroes
Posted 11 years agoWell I am now back from Anthrocon, and suffering a little post con blues. But now I'm looking forward to the rest of my Cons. Furlaxation in September, where I hope to debut my fursuit! Then next Anthrocon!
I wasn't quite sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. I took over five hundred digital photos. So many amazing costumes and fur suits to see! I got to chat with some very interesting people, and reigned it in reasonably at the dealer's room. I was blown away to stumble upon and meet
gideon
I do regret having to miss out on a few panels to make the parade and a few other events. And apparently I missed two furs I would have loved to meet,
taurinfox &
Louiefurrywolfy
I want to thank everyone for making it so memorable.
Jakthewuffle for the generous ride down to Pittsburgh and the fun sing-a-long and Star Trek Voyager Retrospective.
jonouchi for sharing the room and being a great companion. Even though I did torture him a little with my shopping and throwing him into social encounters.
and lastly
lightpaws who if it isn't too presumptuous of me to say, a great new friend who shared the room and gave me a lift home. Hope I didn't grate on you by tagging along so much.
So I hope three days later that I may finally catch up on my sleep.

Ding Dong the ape almost died.... of embarassment.
Posted 11 years agoSorry That I've been scarce guys, but I've been struggling with moving in this past weekend. My internet will be installed on Saturday. Then to make matters worse, my first day on the job, in orientation even, I had a panic attack and passed out. There was extreme vertigo and I woke up with 7 paramedics around me. Long story short I had an ambulance ride to the local ER, great nurses who ran a gamut of tests on me all to discover I was fine. Syncope. Thats the term. So I returned to work. Completed my orientation and am embarrassed to death. On the gurney on the way out I just kept chanting "please don't fire me" so this ape had a rough day. AND peeling those damn electrode connections off my chest hurt so bad. So I'll catch up with people Saturday. no internet till then. Love you guys. I'm looking forward to Anthrocon. And getting my first week of my new job under my belt.
Panic Mode Engaged!
Posted 11 years agoOkay, I start my new Job on Monday. Good. I've spent the past week searching for, finding, and signing on a new apartment. (I did good in that regard) Okay the plan was to borrow my folks Durango and make three trips to move my furniture. After one round trip the piece of crap broke down. (Luckily I got my bed and TV stand which are the two hardest pieces moved. So I figured no problem rent a cargo van and do everything remaining in one trip. Every U-hal and car rental place in this podunk burg either is rented out or doesn't carry them. Lucky me. So I'm a bit panicky BUT i'm trying to decide if a normal van with the seats down will suffice. God I hate moving. It's one of the three great traumas of life.
