Since Reznor is badgering me to write a journal here we go, an excercise in stream of concious writing, which makes me wonder where i can fnid the font that they use on the bag of my dog's food because it looks kinda cool, even though its not really cool out, its rather humid and hot...you know whats hot, its not Paris Hilton...she is kind of a dog, my dog is laying here with his head in his empty food bowl, wearing it like a hat right now, and who really wears a hat anymore unless its a baseball hat...does anyone wonder why they dont have baseball as an olympic sport when they have basketball...and what is up with basketball anyway? a bunch of grown men playing a game that any kid knows and getting paid millions of dollars for it. I just doesnt seem right, I would like to see just one of them donate a months salery to a worthy charity sometimes. There are quite a few worthy charities, like greenpeace...they go around saving whales and seals...and whats up with easter seals anyway? do people actually use them or just throw them away? It makes you wonder if they spend more printing them then they get, which reminds me, I need to get a new printer, since mine is out of ink...why is it that I can buy a new printer for $25 but the ink that i need to go in it comes out to $40? Make me want to just send e-mail after e-mail to the people that make the ink and badger them into lowering their prices, which is exactly what Reznor was doing to me to get me to write this. *giggles*

Just a very rough draft beginning of a new story....no where near finished, but I still wouldnt mind hearing what you think....


Once up on a time....those words rang through his head over and over. Once upon a time..always followed by happily ever after by the end of the story. At least that is how the humans seemed to think that things worked.

"But sometimes it isn't like that..." the wolf murmmered with a sigh, looking down at the plain silver tailband in his paw. With a faint smile, he replaced it in the small coffer of crystal on the table beside his sleeping furs, nestling it in the sapphire velvet next to its twin, one he hadn't worn in many many years. Laying back on the soft pile, he closed his eyes, letting dreams return him to the past.

He was running though the snow covered forest, his mate at his side, his brothers and sisters around them. They ran not to hunt, not to chase, but for the sheer ultimate joy. The feel of the icy wind through their fur, the soft snow beneath their paws, the scent of the pack in their noses. It was the first night of winter, and the pack ran, and where they ran the world changed. Bears yawned and began to burrow deeper into their caves, the trees gave up the last of their leaves and slumbered, the old and weak, animal and human alike gave a final soft sigh in their sleep and knew no more. The young and hale heard the howling of the pack and shivered, double checking their winter stores of food, for it was whispered that if you heard the singing of the winter wolves, then the snows would come deep and heavy and it was best to be prepared.

They ran, starlight gleaming off of their silvery-blue coats, the color of moonlight on ice, bringing death and deliverance, ice and rest in their wake. They cared not about the fear the humans felt for them, for they were wild and free, the embodiment of the turning of the seasons, and this is what they had been created for.

He yipped joyously as he lunged to the side, slamming his shoulder into that of his mate, bowling him over into a deep snowdrift before pouncing on him with a playful growl. They wrestled for a moment, snow flying up around them as they dove and rolled, nipped and nuzzled, the laughing howls of the pack driving them on the greater and more rediculous acts of acrobatics, until the simply lay on the deep snow, tongues lolling from their muzzles as they panted, golden eyes looking smilingly into silver as the rest of the pack settled themselves down around them, snuggling with their own mates. The sun would rise soon and it was time to rest. Soon the sounds of small wimpers of pleasure drifted though the lightening air, the scent of mating growing thick in the small clearing. Rolling back to his feet, he rose, padding to his mate and nuzzling his flank, his long tongue running across the length of his mates sheath before he turned and lowered his chest to the soft snow raising his tail. The familiar weight of his mate fell upon his back as the forelegs clamped around his hips. With a quick thrust and a soft yip, his mate buried himself deep within him, the beloved thickness streching him painfully for a moment before he grew accustomed to it once again. With powerful thrusts, his mate drove hard agsint him, the knot at the base slamming asginst his tailhole in smooth movements as his mates body moved ablove him, bringing them both to climax with a small howl.

Every so often a pack of mortal wolves would join them as they ran, and they could sence the confusion of the beasts at the morning ritual that the pack went through just before dawn. Unlike the usual pack, they had no need for the games of dominace that chose leaders and mates. Unable to bear or sire childern, their mates were chosen by affection instead of some instinct to better the species, for there would never any more of them then there were now. They had been since the beginning of the world, created by the Gods, perfect and immortal, they were the one of the four races charged with the turning of the year. They were the bringers of winter, the same way that the golden unicorns were the harbingers of spring, the silver otters the playful bringers of summer and the mist foxes ushered in the storms of fall.






Story beginning 2......



He stood, looking over the wreckage of what had once been a beautiful valley hidden deep in the mountains. At one time there had been a lush and verdant sactuary from the cold of the hights, full of life and color. Now there was only scorched bare rock, patches of black ice hanging in grotesque formations from the twisted bones of the trees and cliff face, and cooling pools of molten rock dotting the landscape. This place would never recover from the titanic battle that had raged there for three days and nights. The wolf sighed wearily, the sound whistful in the still air of dawn as he gazed down at the still form of his fallen enemy. A lord among the flame-spirits, Farath's body was wreathed in dancing flames, the red-orange silks futtering in the slight breaeze that was begining to rise with the sun.

"And in the end what did it gain you?" He muttered, staring deeply in the the beautiful flame colored eyes staring up at him, eyes that would never again take in the beauty of another dawn, the brightness already fading to embers, a mere remeberance of their living glory as the flames around him one by one flickered out. The wolf watched until the last had faded, the body of the handsom Lord of Living Flame nothing more then one more dark husk on the blasted earth.

"We were friends once, you and I."

With a sigh, he turned his back on the fractured scene behind him and made his way from the valley. Reaching the edge, he paused, unturning, as he raised a paw. His eyes blazed with an azure fire as he clenched his paw with a whispered word. As he continued down the narrow trail a sound like muffled thunder rolled from the valley, rising to a raging roar as the mile deep snow from the mountain-tops pulled itself from it's home to come raging down the cliffs, filling the small valley. This place would never recover. He had made sure if it.

"Rest in peace" he chuckled.
