Occasionally I Amuse Myself.
Posted 13 years agoStolen from my own random tweetings the other day:
Suddenly the name "Slothburger" popped into my head for a fast food place. They wouldn't serve slothmeat, but sloths are their mascots. Think about it, adorable sloths wearing tiny aprons and chef hats, flipping burgers and serving fries and shakes. The marketing writes itself:
"Slothburger: Finally giving you a good reason why your fast food is so very slow."
"Slothburger: Come for the sloths. Stay for the wait."
"Slothburger: If your food is ready in under 10 minutes then- Oh god those aren't sloths! Those are badgers! Get out! FUCKING CHRIST GET OUT! THEY WILL EAT YOU."
"Badgers: The natural prey of tuberculosis and 18-wheeler's since time immemorial."
"Tuberculosis and 18-Wheelers: Working together to eat badgers since FOREVER."
Wait... I kind of veered off the road there on those last couple tag lines. I guess I've never been very good at marketing.
Oh well... back to making comics and smut and smutty comics!

This is becoming a regular thing
Posted 13 years ago"This" in question being my disappearing from FA for weeks at a time as I become thoroughly engrossed in projects and commissions and comics and such.
Really kind of inconvenient coming back and seeing 3000 submissions, 1000 journals, and various other things in my messages folder thingy. I really need to stop the disappearing. That said, new stuff coming soon. Everything commission wise is coming along slowly in a round robin fashion and everyone who hasn't gotten a progress update yet on stuff will be getting one very very soon. (Like today/tomorrow).
Lots of stuff to post. Surrealis Grymmoire, Voodoo Walrus, Mass Effect porn, badger smut, Princess Peach transformation stuff, voodoo loa stuff, more badgers, a transformation comic... the list goes on.
Probably be opening up a few commission slots tomorrow too.
Back to the drawing table.

Bah
Posted 13 years agoBeen having some net connection problems from my main studio PC. It's fudged communication and productions scheduling. If you emailed me this past week and I didn't respond, I'll be getting back to within the day. Same for notes. Playing catch up with some stuff currently. If it ain't one thing, it's another.
Thank you FA
Posted 13 years agoThank for participating in the SOPA Blackout Day. You continue to have my respect even if you didn't go to the extremes today that Wikipedia and other such sites did. After all, I can't denounce anyone for not going full black out considering I didn't do it for Voodoo Walrus either. Just went with the good ol' "Learn more about it and help fight against it post".

2012 Commission Info
Posted 13 years agoIMPORTANT: THIS IS JUST GOING UP AS A GENERAL INFORMATION TYPE OF POST. NOT NECESSARILY SOMETHING TO BE COMMENTED ON OR TO INVITE FOLKS COMMENTS TO SNAG COMMISSION SLOTS. IF YOU'RE INTERSTED IN GETTING A COMMISSION RIGHT NOW, ALWAYS FEEL FREE TO NOTE ME OR EMAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW.
Quite possibly the most important thing to know is my e-mail is thebadgergrymm [@] gmail.com. Never hesitate to contact me if you have a question. I check my inbox multiple times a day and often respond shortly after messages have been received unless I'm out and about and figuring out new ways to cause chaos in the streets and freak out servers at restaurants. Its also possible to reach me via comments, notes, PMs, and whatnot at my usual online haunts and galleries!
Pricing:
Traditional media pieces do get mailed to the commissioner. But I will ask you include a few extra dollars for shipping.
If ordering a digital color piece, you can request for me to send the hardcopy of the inked linework (I do traditional inking even for digital color pieces) and a high quality, high resolution 8.5” x 12” print to you for a small additional charge (Usually about $10). Otherwise you'll receive a high quality jpeg file of the finished piece in your email inbox.
** 3"x 4" traditional media color convention badge: $20
** 3"x 4" digital media color convention badge: $15
IMPORTANT: The following sizes are just the common sizes I work in. I can work larger, and I can work smaller, let me know if you'd like a custom size and we'll discuss exact price based on that!
(DISCLAIMER: I've found recently that drawing cityscapes is especially difficult and time consuming. For this reason I must stress the fact that in certain cases, I will have to charge more than what I have quoted before if background imagery involves a lot in the way of cityscapes, vehicles, roads or such. Price will vary depending on the degree of detail you want.)
** Digital Color pieces
9" x 12" One Character: $40
~ +$15 per additional character
~ +$30 for full background
** Traditional Color Pieces
9x12 One Character: $60
+$20 per character
+$40 for full background
11x14 One Character: $80
+$30 per character
+$60 for full background
** Ink Pieces
9x12 One Character: $30
+$15 per character
+$35 for full background
11x14 One Character: $50
+$15 per character
+$40 for full background
** Graphite Pieces
9x12 One Character : $20
+$5 per character
+$15 for detailed background
** Sequential Art (AKA: Comic Pages)
I love to create comic pages, but its pricey. I can work in small (9" x 12") or large (11" x 17") formats and I can do anything from rough linework to black and white ink to full on digital color. It all really depends on what you're looking for as to what the price will be.
The following a general base cost that factors in each pages having multiple panels, varying layouts, added background, and varied "camera angles".
--Refined and shaded graphite:
9x12: $25
11x17: $35
--B&W Ink:
9x12: $40
11x17: $80
--Full digital color:
9x12: $55
11x17: $100
Process:
First, contact me. Tell what you'd like to get. I need to know how many characters are involved, what you want happening, if you want color, if you want traditional or digital media, if you want a fully detailed background, the whole shebang. Otherwise I can't give you a proper price quote.
Once I know what you want, I can give you a price quote. From there its just a matter of getting payment to me so I can start things rolling! I prefer Paypal, but I also accept checks and money orders by good ol' classic snail mail as well.
You will be e-mailed progress sketches as they happen. You have the option of making any changes you wish to the sketch before I move onto the inks (if applicable). Make sure you specify what needs to be changed if changes are needed cause I'm not going to play around with making changes, sending the tweaked scan out, being told more changes are needed, and so on and so forth.
Once finished, copies of digital files get sent to a customer's email at full size and traditional pieces get tucked into a nest of sturdy cardboard and fired off into the postal system. In special cases where a commissioner can't pay entirely up front to begin with, the rest of the payment will be expected before they receive any final product. Otherwise I sit on the finished piece. If you suddenly fall off the face of the earth and my repeated attempts to contact you all fail, I'll take it as you not wanting the piece and auction it off to the highest bidder after 6 (SIX) months of not hearing back from you. Harsh, I know. But its not fair to keep me hanging.
Content:
--I will NOT draw children involved in sexual acts.
--I will NOT draw non-anthro animals in sexual situations. (Dragons can be considered an exception to this rule.)
--I will NOT draw scat, watersports, or other bathroom fluids. (There's a little bit of wiggle room on this. Some things on the lighter side of the spectrum are okay, just ask and we'll see on a case by case basis.)
--I WILL draw humans, fantasy races and creatures, monsters, spiritual beings, magic technology, horribly ugly things, wonderfully pretty things, anthros, and I can even, when prodded, draw cute things. Just standard feral animals though, I'm not so great at. Just throwin' that out there.
--I WILL draw violence. Gore, blood, Kill Bill-style beheadings and limb choppings, that's fine. The bloodier, the better. Though there is a cut off point when violence starts overlapping sex.
--I WILL draw sexual and non-sexual acts, and can appease to almost any fetish not listed above. Anything from a G- to hardcore XXX rating is fine by me.
--I WILL allow you to use my personal characters in an image if you want to. Of course, they all have different preferences and personalities, and I'd like for them to stay within those boundaries, but everything is negotiable.
Originals and Prints
-Some original pieces are still floating around my archives and many are for sale. Your best bet is if you see something you fancy, drop me a line and see if its available for sale.
Pricing of original pieces varies depending the how complex the piece is and how old it is. To be honest, older pieces are going to tend to be cheaper.
-Prints are unwatermarked, high quality, and printed on glossy or matte paper.
All prints are $20. That includes shipping. That's shipping whether you live in the US, the UK, Canada, wherever art is needed!
Note: Many prints are no longer available due to loss of original files.
I think I've covered all my bases. If there's still something that's unclear, don't hesitate to contact me at thebadgergrymm [@] gmail.com

Important nostalgic question! Been bugging me!
Posted 13 years agoSo way back in what must have been the early 90's (Must've been cause this was before I moved to Virginia), I was a tiny little Grymm. Playing with my Ninja Turtles in my Ghostbuster Firehouse*. Tormenting the neighbors with my super soaker and NERF arsenals. Plotting the downfall of some kid that thought he was cock of the walk just for having some stupid flashy sunglasses**. Back in those halcyon days I had these toys I loved.
These toys were four giant plush rattlesnake puppet toy things. There was a green one, blue one, orange one, and purple/yellow one. They curled around your body, had a jaw you could move like a hand puppet, and plastic rattlers in their tails. I fucking adored those things to the point that I would attempt to coil them all around me while I slept. It was the worst thing ever that my blue one got dirty. Hell, I even had a fleeting notion of wanting to learn to sew to make a sweater for the blue one.
Now years later I find myself unable to find one single shred of evidence that these things ever existed. My net searches have been all for naught. Possibly because I can't quite remember what they were called. I want to say they were called something akin to "Rattlin' Rasslers" but I think there was more to the name than that.
So my friends, my colleagues, my customers, and peers, I come to you all in the hopes that you might also remember these things and help assure me that I am not in fact just imagining the most awesome toys I had as a seven year old. What were they called? Why doesn't the net have proof of them? Why the fuck did chold me want to knit a sweater for a plush snake puppet***?!
*It always bugged me that the firehouse had no desk for Janine to sit at, no basement to put the Ecto-containment system in, and no beds for the Ghostbusters to sleep in.
**It was my first encounter with the mindstate of "I'm better than you due to a silly, asinine thing that I have that you don't. And right from the start I knew I wanted to drench the little fuck with my super soaker that was taller and heavier than me and kick him until he cried. I ended up trying to beat him with a stick instead.
***Trick question. Because not only was he dirty, he was starting to rip in places. I felt sorry for him since I knew it was my fault. I never should have pitted him against my Ninja Turtles.

Posted 13 years agoEDIT: ALL SLOTS FULL! THANKS SO MUCH!
Greetings all! Been gone for a bit, but I'm finally back on the radar just in time for the holidays. Which is kind of counter intuitive... but hey, whatever works!
Anyway, I thought I'd open up a couple of FULL COLOR DIGITAL COMMISSIONS for the holidays for anyone looking to get a gift of art for themselves or someone else! Onward to the nitty-gritty details!
-One or two characters. Hand inked and digitally colored.
-$35
-Wide variety of content. Cute, family friendly, holiday themed, non-holiday themed, action, smut, porn, fetishy goodness, furry, human, demon, fantasy creatures, your characters by characters, blatant latex clad busty badger girls getting naughty, its all up to you! Outside of a few things I won't draw like scat and pedophilia, there's a wide variety of stuff I can and will draw from G to XXX ratings.
-The above doesn't really take into ac count a fully fleshed out background image in the piece, but if you'd like to have some detailed background imagery, it'll cost an extra $20. Just let me know.
-Only two slots available. Once gone, they're gone.
-For the sake of timeliness, I'm sticking to strictly Paypal payments this time.
-Commissions will be down by December 24th at the latest.
If you're interested, stake a claim on one (or both if you're feeling greedy!) below or just flat out note me and tell you you want one. Once spoken for, they're spoken for and I'll note you and get the ball rolling on details and such!

State of the Grymm
Posted 14 years agoOctober kind of kicked my ass. working every single Friday and Saturday and most of the Sundays along with a handful of Thursdays and that one Monday out amongst the unwashed, belligerent masses in the ever decreasing and enwettening temperatures, made for an interesting month.
I screamed at people, I cackled like a mad man, and I suggested that great many terrible things would happen to them ranging from being barbequed, to receiving radiation poisoning, to just being flat out cut open by a rusty bone saw and sub-human, bestial husks watched with slavering jaws.
As per usual though, I'm terribly behind and now back to playing catch-up. A lot of graphite commissions need completion, a couple need conceptualizing, and a good deal of inked and full color stuff needs to be worked on. Some semblance of a Voodoo Walrus backlog also must be taken care of. So now that I'm kind of rested, I'm looking at an upcoming week of making myself scarce while I perform all the necessary dark rituals required in making art exist. This is why I can never do anything like livestreaming my process. The last time I tried it, the hobo blood splashed all over the webcam and ruined it. The Enochian siguls and ancient chants also melted my harddrive and turned my keyboard into a squealing pit-beast that wanted nothing more than to feed on bacon. Human bacon.
So figure on seeing awesome stuff popping up later this coming week.

Been MIA a Bit. My Apologies
Posted 14 years agoBeen a long time since I checked in here. Been entirely too busy as of late. Working through my commission pile ever steadily, tackling stuff that's been on the to do list for a long time, a short time and every where in between. I've also been spending 3 to 5 days a week out at the Creepy Hollow Hayride working as a narrator, being the ever creepy Edgar Grimstone; man of opportunity, liar, cheat, and self-preserving son of a bitch. Its fun, but its tiring, hence why I've been scarce. Days at a time of being on site for 8 to 10 hours, cackling, yelling, bellowing, screaming, and creeping is time consuming and tiring. So sleep, and drawing have been a lot more important than popping on to all of my usual net haunts and making the usual timely gallery uploads.
Also, I've had entirely too many deadlines as of late that have been rush jobs that were in need of finishing. And only one of which I even had permission to post. Thus I can't even prove to you lovely and wonderful folks that I've been exceptionally busy. Oh well.
That all said, if you're local to Richmond, Virginia, you should totally come out to Creepy Hollow Scream Park: http://www.creepyhollowhayride.com/ this weekend or the next.. You can find me in the hayride part of the event. Make sure you ask to be put on Edgar Grimstone's wagon. I'll show you a good time. The other part of the event, Scream Forest , is fantastic as well. A very earnestly creepy place. So you should make sure you check it out too.

The Hurricane Didn't Kill Me.
Posted 14 years agoI'm back. After longer than I wanted to be gone. Fortunately my house made it through unscathed. The same can not be said for the people behind me who had one of the huge trees that loom over this area crash down through the roof. For a Class 1 hurricane, this far inland, it was thoroughly fucking damaging. Huge, seemingly well rooted trees pulled up. Telephone and electricity poles thoroughly eradicated. Houses devastated. Power came back far quicker than expected but all telecommunications were down for my house for over a week because Comcast had an "industrial sector power issue" in the local "grid".
Hasn't been a good month and a half. Storm takes me offline for a week in early August, spend most of August having to take care of my frazzled mother who was concerned about an eye surgery she needed. Take care of mother AFTER eye surgery because she had to keep her head down constantly for days after the procedure. Get hit by hurricane and lose telecommunications. Have to start prepping for work on the haunted hayride I work for during October. Now my mom's sick again with some mystery ailment without even being completely over her eye surgery. Its very worrisome.
But I'm back. And there's stuff to draw and to scan and send and to show. Its time's like the last month when I'm glad there's a back log of Voodoo Walrus in CreepKnight's hands and that he's able to update the site without anything being done on my end. Honestly I'm not even sure where to begin. I had hoped that I'd have the chance during thee hurricane induced outages to catch up on drawing, but I found that's its terribly difficult to draw when in a house that seems to do its best to block out natural light. And when the power did come back it was one task after another that had to be seen to. I've lost so much time. So I'm going to head back to the drawing table now before I lose any more. I'll upload a couple of things later.
And a phone call from my dad reveals that my mom is now in hospital for tests because the doc has no idea what's wrong with her.

Hurrican Looming. Possibly MIA for a while
Posted 14 years agoThere's a nice big, fat bitch of a hurricane currently making beady little eyes at Virginia and no matter which way you cut it, my area is at very least going to get hit by severe tropical storm level conditions. This means its entirely likely that I'll be losing power. In fact, considering some of the protocols utilized by my local power company, its almost a certain thing that my power will go down later today and considering the damage that's being predicted, its entirely possible that it'll be a few days before my power returns.
I'll be printing off commission info stuff so that I can do at least a little bit of conceptualization and further linework stuff while I have light, but don't expect to hear much from me until later this coming week.
Not gonna lie. I'm getting really frustrated at this year. It seems every time I turn around, forces beyond my control are slowing down all of my work progress, losing me money, and taxing my peaceful nature.
I'll return as soon as I can. Hopefully with pretty things to show for it. But for now I must fire up the printer and finish up securing the outside of the house.

I Continue to Whore Out My Non-Art Endeavors.
Posted 14 years agoI think I mention this a week and some change ago, but in addition to the many other things I have my grubby art ist hands in, I'm also now a semi-regular contributor to Geek-Life.com. Which is so far translating to "Grymm uploads a column every week and it goes live on Friday because Grymm is never without something to say about a movie he's watched because that what he does while drawing."
The section is called The surRealist's Review and its basically me putting my own unique spin onto movies I've seen. Be they old, new, mainstream, obscure, art house, or indie flicks. Tis fun, and you should check it out. My second article is up now for "Drive Angry" and can be found at http://geek-life.com/2011/07/22/the.....w-drive-angry/ . And my review of "Rubber" can be found at http://geek-life.com/2011/07/15/the.....review-rubber/ .
Tomorrow my review for "The Man Who Fell to Earth" goes live and its the best of my reviews so far I think.
Back to getting things back up and running after the past several disastrous days.
On a related note, anyone have an advice on what kind of wireless router to get for a household where the router only really needs to be capable of getting a signal across a house to a signal computer that's most taxing net usage is Netflix? No fancy schmanciness involved. It doesn't have to have an array of antennas that fire laser beams at mosquitos trying to hack my folders full of sexy latex fetish models. It just needs to do its job and be really affordable.

The Darkest Weekend in a Very Long Time.
Posted 14 years agoWhy have I been MIA? This will explain a lot. Take note though. If you're the sensitive type. You might want to steer away from reading this.
This past Saturday there was a hellacious, ungodly storm here. And for about an hour it squatted right over the house. It took out the power early on. Not even a flicker. Just outright cut it. And with the power, so goes communication since the phone is tied in through the cable modem.
With no power to work with and natural light too low to do anything of value, I took to doing what I tend to do when I can’t busy myself. I paced. And the family dog of 13 years, already nervous and fearful, followed me as I stalked from room to room. The lightning striking far too close for comfort. The yard temporary flooding from the rainfall. The thunder crashing down right on top of us. The heat and the humidity oozing in despite the occasional breeze from the storm.
Finally I flopped down on the coach across the room from my father. Our dog Bootsie, seemingly slightly more contented that I wasn’t going to disappear or burst out to fight the storm, finally detached herself from following me and clicked into the hallway panting heavily. A huge strike of lightning hit nearby. Lighting up the house. My dad called for her to come back since he wanted to attempted to keep her calm during the storm. She had a long history of being nervous of servere storms. This was followed by a click click thud as her toenails fell on hardwood floors and then she took the single step down into the laundry room wrong and it sounded like she fell.
My father, a large Italian man nearing 80, with a bad back, even worse knees, and a disgruntled case of grout, got out of his chair as quickly as he could to see if she was okay. I figured she had just tripped as she was wont to do. Her back legs aren’t what they use to be and the hardwood floors and the ceramic kitchen floors give her problems with traction.
I heard “Boots, Bootsie come on girl. Get up. Boots? Are you okay? Oh god Boots don’t do this to me please get up.” Then a heavy silence. Then a pained “Danny!” as my father called for me. I was already in the process of leaping up to see what was wrong before then. What I found was my tall proud, often sited as intimidating father, hunched as much as he could, down on one knee. Both his hand trying to hold up our aging walker hound’s head. Her tail wagging but her legs splayed out, the rest of her stiff.
My father started to cry knowing something was desperately wrong. He started babbling about stroke, and heart attack, that the storm was killing her as the thunder cracked and the lightning exploded over us. In a moment it seemed she was gone. The tail plopped down. Her breathing stopped. But just for a moment more. Her head came back up and looked at him. And he tried. Oh god he tried so hard to get her to come back to him. Words can not express the utter despair in his voice as he tried to coax the dog that’s spent so much time at his side back to this world. The dog that’s been there to greet him at the door. The dog that’s so fiercely protected him every step of the way. The dog who absolutely refused to do anything but be by his side after he got out of a complex and dangerous knee surgery, and worried about him the entire time he went through the pain and frustration of physical rehab.
He had lost his job, lost his truck, lost his ability to be as mobile as he wants to be, and now his best dog, the dog he had called, baby, Boots, shithead, and bear-bear all in nothing but the most loving ways, the dog he had loved so god damn hard for 13 years, nearly half of my own life, had been taken from him. Possibly by the stress of the storm. He believes it gave her a heart attack. And as he kneeled there over her, petting her. Grieving. The storm began to move on. And all he could say was if she could have held out ten, even five more minutes. It would have all been okay. But she was gone.
I sat there, in the dusky darkness with my father. Attempting to do whatever I could to distract him. To lessen the pain. But I knew it was a futile effort. In a mere few hours my mother would be home and he’d have to break it to her. And while Bootsie wasn’t as determinedly bonded to her as she had been to my father, that’s not to say my mom wasn’t as fiercely attached to Boots.
I’m typing this the morning after the event. Knowing I can’t share what I’m writing with you who are reading this until at least Wednesday as the storm also killed part of my internet modem and I can’t get it replaced until then. I’m writing this in tears. Not entirely out of grief for the loss of a part of the family, but because of the anguish I heard in my father’s voice. And the absolute misery that’s now settled upon this house while I await the help of one of my two best friends in digging a grave. Its thick. Spiced with humidity and grief. In a household that’s been full of so much fear and worry over so many things, for so long already.

Celebrity Death and Artist Appreciation
Posted 14 years agoI should be working on Voodoo Walrus and commission art. Instead I need to pick a bone that’s lodged itself in my mind. A little earlier today, the news started filtering down through the web-o-inter-tron-o-tube-net that Amy Winehouse is dead. I know this because of The Twitter. People began tweeting or retweeting other tweets about it and adding things like “Such a shame”, “So much talent gone”, and so on. Basically saying the death is sad and terrible not only for its occurrence but for it robbing us of a talent person as well.
My reaction: So what? Not because I don’t think life and artists should be valued. But because I’ve been given no evidence that Amy Winehouse was some great talent. And therein lies the problem. Where were all these people while she was alive to say how talented she was and how others should listen to her music? Hm? Cause some of these people are people I’ve been following for a good long while now and I’ve never seen them say anything about how people should check out Winehouse’s work. Never made any mention of her save for when she was in rehab or struggling with drugs or whatever. That’s all I know about the woman. She had drug problems, she was in rehab for them, and she made a song called Rehab that every time it came on the radio I thought it was a commercial instead of a song and then realized it was a song when a minute passed and it was still playing.
So what’s the point I’m getting at? That’s she wasn’t a good artist? Hell no. That its good she’s dead? Fuck no! What’s wrong with you? What I’m getting at is people need to stop this bullshit of waiting until talented people are dead to say how much they love them and their work. Celebrate and share the artists who love while the artists still live so that maybe they can see the impact of who they’ve touched! Stop just sitting there and mindlessly consuming what they produce. Find a way to either tell them what you thought of it, how much you enjoyed, how it touched you, and/or how wonderful you think they are. Alternatively, if you can’t find a way to communicate any of that with them, then tell your friends about them. Utilize the twitter or the facebook to link to something they did that you particularly liked
Celebrate, embrace, and talk about the works and thoughts of artists. Not their problems, their relationships, their fuck ups, or their death. I can tell you this flat out AS an artist. I want people talking about what I’ve drawn, written, or performed in. I DON’T want them talking about how I had a fling with an androgynous cybergoth in the office of a Wawa back in ‘07 and how it got on the security tapes. Or how drunk I got in a pirate bar in Silver Springs, or how I nearly got shot in the knee for making fun of Russian mobsters back in ‘05.
Hate on Lennon for getting together with Yoko and then grieve over him for generations. Tear Jackson apart for everything under the sun except for his music for years and then lament his death and pay tons of money to see a movie concerning an aborted tour he was prepping. Say nothing about Winehouse except drug related jokes and references and then tell people she was so great and talented and how terrible a tragedy it is.
See a pattern? Disrupt the pattern.
Warren Ellis, David Bowie, Jhonen Vasquez, Amanda Palmer, Grant Morrison, Nic Cage. I love you all. You bring wonderful books, music, writing, prose, speeches, ideas, and performances into my life. And you’re just a small sampling of people I absolutely adore and think more people should celebrate what you do. Whenever possible, I try to mention you in various ways to people I know and people who will listen.
Don’t mourn an artist’s death. Celebrate the works they crafted that will make you miss them. Share said works with others so as they won’t be forgotten. You’re doing a great disservice to the artist you miss if all you do is say “Its a tragedy!” and link to an article about their death. Focus on creativity of their lives, overlook the tragedy of their death, make the world a slightly happier place in dark times.

Oh Spider-Man, why can't Hollywood get you right?
Posted 14 years agoSo what I take from the trailer that's circulating around for the new Amazing Spider-Man movie is that its going to be even MORE devoid of humor and snark and sarcasm than the previous movie. Why does everyone want to only play up the angst or the crippling nerdiness of the character? Give us smartass Spidey goddamn it.
Life got him down? Bills? Super villains? Girl troubles? He doesn't angst about it and have prolonged periods of depressed navel gazing, he snarkily laments his troubles to a gargoyle decoration 50 stories above the street and then insults the Rhino until the guy spazzes out and eats a bus full of orphans.
Gimme the fucking script and a big red sharpie. I'll give the movie going audience AT LEAST 15 minutes of the Rhino drunkenly attempting to ingest screaming brats while Spidey kidney punches him and makes comments about how eating kids will go right to his thighs and waistline and how he doesn't need cellulite issues in addition to the dry skin and cranial protrusions.
Yes yes. It is still just the first real trailer to be released. Yes there could be far more to it than the trailer suggests. But it says "grim, gritty, emotional coming of age superhero story full of tears and angst and rage" to me. And that just doesn't float my boat. Someone hire Tony Stark to build a new writer for the Spidey Hollywood franchise. At least he'd make sure some goddamn fun was injected into things.
