Furry programming on Sundays
Posted 4 years agoIt was great to listen to "The Rabbit Hole" and "Doggy Radio" last night and to even get on the #PawPet IRC chat to catch up with old friends. After a rocky couple of years it was fantastic and uplifting to my heart that long-running furry programming was still on the air. For me, it was like a return to a better time in my life and a little thing like that made a great deal to me. So never underestimate the benefit of what you do in this fandom and the impact it can have on another.

A Return to Furry
Posted 4 years agoSo, after "taking a break" from the fandom for a couple years I'm wanting to get back into furry a big way this year. There was no reason for it as I pretty much dropped off of all social media during that time.......but furry was the only thing I really missed. I have no desire to get back on Facebook but I'm seriously longing to be involved with furry friends and the community again, producing content, art, fursuits and commissioning art and attending cons.
Stay fluffy and I look forward to seeing you guys in livestreams, chats and in person when the world opens back up! *hugs*

International Anthropomorphic Research Project
Posted 8 years agoThese guys have been studying furries for years with online surveys and traveling to cons. They have a tremendous amount of data and some really interesting findings. They work out of Renison University College – University of Waterloo and they even got a grant from the Canadian government to study furries!

Furry Podcast Review
Posted 11 years agoI spent an entire year listening to furry podcasts as my main source of entertainment. I figured I should do a brief review and give you guys links to some
furry produced media.
ActFur on air (on break)
http://www.actfuronair.com/main/
This is the most highly produced furry podcast out of any that I have heard. It has program segments and radio plays. It is an Australian podcast with
a dude and two hot sounding chicks as the main hosts and many awesome contributors. I would highly recommend this one.
Knotcast (active, kind-of)
http://www.foxstuffers.com/News.html
This a relationship advice podcast for furries. The subject matter and humor is often adult. They have lots of solid advice about life and relationships and they have fun
chatting and reading emails.
Live from hop inn
http://podcast.rabbitvalley.com/feed/podcast/
This is a podcast where a bunch of friends sit around and get drunk and talk about crazy stuff.
Furcast (active)
http://furcast.fm/
This podcast is unique in that the audio and background music is mixed live during the show. Solid format and good chemistry with the hosts. Banter, furry news, emails and stories.
Fur What Its Worth (active)
http://www.furwhatitsworth.com/
Another highly produced podcast with a more cute and less adult content. They also have segments and contributes.
Dragette Show (active kind-of)
http://draggetshow.podomatic.com/
Two crazy furries talk crazy stuff for about 45 minutes.
Fuzzy Logic
http://www.fuzzylogicpodcast.com/
A relationship advice podcast that is slightly less adult than knotcast but with a similar format
UnFurled
http://www.unfurled.net/
A good-ole Canadian podcast with news and banter and some funny fan emails.
2 Sense Show
http://www.ranting-gryphon.com/Shows/Shows.htm
Did you know that 2 The Ranting Gryphon had a podcast? It's pretty darn funny.
Funday Pawpet Show (active)
http://pawpet.tv
Wile not technically a podcast, this is a live internet puppet show that has been going on for 14 years!
Doggy Radio
http://boomerthedog.net/boomerthedog/radio/
boomerthedog.com:8000/listen.pls
I have referred to this show as "The hidden gem of the furry fandom". It's a live show with talk and music at 2am Centeral time every Sunday night/Monday morning.

A short video
Posted 11 years agoIt seems like a lot of the fun things I do involve being super drunk at 3 in the morning. Here's a one minute video my friend threw together of Hammer playing Rock Band. My friend Anthony (not on FA) is wearing the suit and I was filming. I love letting other people wear the suit because it's always fun to watch Hammer run around and be animated.

Fursona Meme thing

Because Furries like to talk about their fursonas.
Copy and paste these questions so you can talk about your fursona too!
What made you choose the species of your main fursona?
I wanted to get into the social aspect of furry more and I realized I needed a furonsa to do that. I have always had a close connection to K9s and I liked wolves so I went with wolf.....even though there are a thousand wolves already.
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
My fursona is basically me as an anthro wolf.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
My fursona is a little more energetic and silly and naive than I am because it's fun.
Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
Pretty much
Does your fursona look like you at all?
Not really. I'm a human and he's a wolf.
Is your fursona the same gender as you, if not why?
Yes.
Do you have more then one main fursona?
No but I am interested in making other characters for art, story, puppeteering and suiting. Even if I play another "character" I feel like HammerWolf will always be my "main fursona"
Do you have a back story for your fursona, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
Basically, I was looking for a name for a wolf fursona. I was watching a movie with some friends and a werewolf was holding a hammer. I said "Hammerwolf, good name for a fursona." A couple weeks later I was just like, "Fuck it, I'll just be HammerWolf".
It is an inside joke. I like it because it plays upon furry stereotypes, suggestive and yet innocent and it's easy to remember and pronounce.
Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
Yes and yes.
If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
See above
Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart from others?
Not really. I'm a generic grey wolf. My markings are slightly different but it's still pretty generic. I would prefer that my personality set me apart.
Do you have much art of your main fursona/s?
There is a lot of art of my fursona. Hardly any of it is online.
Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?
No
If you suit, do you have a suit of your main fursona?
I have a partial and I'm working on making it a full suit.
Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
I have role played a lot as HammerWolf but when I chat it's just me. There's not much difference between the two.
Do you consider your main fursona to be a part of you in any way?
He started out as a place holder and an inside joke but over time he has grown into his own character and a very important part of me. He is always sitting quietly in the back of my mind. If I need help solving a problem he can come up with a novel answer. If I feel lonely, he is there for me. He is an interesting phenomena.

Arkansas Anime Festival
Posted 12 years agoWow! First Hotel con, first time suiting, first time dancing like a crazy animal at a rave, so much fun!
Got to see
misheru-san
migakowski and play around with
woofers-sr12 for a few minutes in front of the convention center. I spent most of my time hanging out with
JavelinChimera and three other people from this area. I had a really nice room and a bunch of alcohol so it was mostly room party con for me.
Suiting was a blast and way more fun then I was expecting. I had my picture taken like, 30 times and got literally, around 100 hugs! I danced for two hours on my first day ever wearing a suit so I'm kinda proud of that. I went suiting around 20 times over the weekend and can't wait to do it again.
I had a great handler but my photographer sucked and the only good pics I got of HammerWolf was when my friend Anthony was wearing the suit and I was taking pictures of him.
Oh yea, and the elevators broke so it's not just furries who break elevators.
Got to see

Robbed at knife point
Posted 12 years agoSo, yea, I totally got robbed tonight by two dudes. The bigger of the two dudes had a big-ass hunting knife that he pulled and held at my side. It was lame.
The thing I'm most pissed about is that I am going to a con in two days and I have no ID, credit cards or any way to get money out of my account. I have also reserved a room at the hotel but can't get my room without ID nor can I get my con badge. I'm currently on the phone with my bank trying to cancel my card but I've been on hold for over an hour which is also kinda lame.
I'm hoping I can get a replacement ID tomorrow without two much hassle.

Beat by a little kid
Posted 12 years agoSo, I was hanging out at my friend's house and a girl came by with her little kid. This kid was full of life and energy. The kid found a balloon and played with it like crazy. He threw the balloon at me and I played catch with him for like, two hours 'till I became sick of it. When I didn't want to play catch with him any more, he looked at me like I had let him down. I felt really bad about not thinking about some new way to play catch.
I felt like I had failed. My creativity was not greater than his energy.
I got beat by a little kid.

First Commission
Posted 12 years agoSo, I got my first commission for fursuit stuff and it's from a non-fur.
I was hanging out at a friends house and I brought some hand paws with me so he could try them on. He is interested in being my handler so I wanted him to experience how hard it is to do things in suit (like pick up a bottle of water etc). The paws were a big hit and everyone else at the house wanted to try them on and play with them. It was fun to watch people smile and pretend to be animals in their own way.
Later that evening, someone else came over to visit, played with the paws and said "Can you make me some with pink pads and claws?"
I was like, "Umm, yea. They would be kinda pricey though."
He said "How pricey?"
I gave him a quote
He said "That's not too pricey."
I got all the details for how he wanted his gloves.
Even though I'm still working on my first full suit, I have made lots of tails and gloves so that's something I know I can do that's worth charging someone money for.
So, yea, I'm happy. I'm one tiny step closer to my goal of being a fursuit maker someday. I am excited to get the EXP for making something for someone else. Even if I f*** up, he is local so I can fix it for him and get feedback in real time.
I'm so excited.
cheers.

Fursuit Unboxing Videos
Posted 12 years agoI love watching fursuit unboxing videos.
As someone who wants to be a fursuit maker someday they are the best! I love to see how super happy people are to get their fursuits. It fills me with energy and ambition to be able to make someone that happy someday. I also like seeing how professional fursuit makers package their final product.
There is also a trend in fursuit unboxing videos that I find funny and scary at the same time and that is "big f**ing knives"
For some reason, when a person gets a 2,000$ custom made suit that they waited a year for, the best tool they can think of for cutting packing tape is the biggest f***ing knife the can find! I mean, holy s*** kind of knives.
I watch these videos scared out of my wits that this person (who is totally beside themselves with excitement and reckless abandon) will accidentally cut their own finger off or stab themselves. They ALWAYS cut TOWARDS themselves and when they finally get the box open, they carelessly toss the big f***ing knife in some random place where they could easily step on it in their exuberance!
Jesus f***ing Christ! I'm not even worried about them cutting the s*** out of a unique piece of art that they care bout because I'm so f***ing worried about them accidentally hurting themselves!
Fortunately, every unboxing video I have seen has ended with happiness and squees but f***.
I am seriously thinking about using a disclaimer that says:
"Please, use a box cutter or small knife and carefully cut away from yourself when opening the box"
F***ing F***
I love furries more than anything in the world. Please don't accidentally cut yourselves with giant knives.
cheers

Muppet Treasure Island
Posted 12 years agoI saw this movie again recently and it was way better than I remembered. The production quality and the humor of the movie is fantastic. It also seemed very much like a prequel to Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean"
When I saw the into of "Muppet treasure island" I was already thinking that it was like "pirates" but when I saw the character Long John Silver (played by Tim Curry) my mind was totally blown. Long John Silver is almost exactly like Jack Sparrow! Johnny Depp totally ripped of Tim Curry!
The first "Pirates of the Caribbean" is still a classic and a great movie that I love but somehow, I kinda wish that Tim Curry was Jack Sparrow now.
Johnny Depp said that Jack Sparrow was based on Keith Richards of The Rollings stones but I have my doubts.
I would also like to see Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow.
No offense Johnny Depp

Do a survey about your Fursona... for SCIENCE

The furry expirence
Posted 12 years agoA year ago my main source of media was Google news, BBC, conspiracy sites like Alex Jones, Red Ice Creations, Art Bell and free energy sites like PESWiki.
I was kinda bummed out and stressed all the time; then my car broke down and I was stuck at home for an entire month. I got really bored so I spent a lot of time online and it was then that I found furry media in general and furry podcasts.
It was so nice to hear cheerful voices and laughing as opposed to people talking about how we are all screwed. I figured that the media I had been consuming was was bad for my health and I decided to use furry produced media exclusively for entertainment.
So, it was like "Super-size Me" with furry.
After one year of nothing but furry this is my report.
I have become more happy, less stressed, more whimsical, more social, less serious, more caring, more playful, less paranoid, less jaded, more hopeful, more motivated, more creative and more open-minded. I have met lots of cool people and made a couple new friends. I quit some bad habits and learned some new skills.
I now feel like, even if something bad happens in my life furry will still be there and that has made me feel more confident in general.
So, I guess this is like another one of those "Furry saved my life" kind-of stories and I just want to say a big thanks to everybody.
Cheers!
